I boarded my dog at North Shore K-9 from September 25-29. When I picked him up, he had a severe eye injury that required immediate emergency referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist and ultimately resulted in the loss of his eye. I was not contacted during his stay about any concern with his condition. After pickup, we rushed him directly to the veterinarian. I've included a photo taken of what his eye looks like at time of pick up, showing the condition of his eye at that time and removal of eye due to damage. What was most upsetting was the lack of communication during his stay and the way the situation was handled afterward. Despite providing extensive veterinary documentation and attempting to resolve the matter directly, the facility declined to offer even a refund of the boarding fees and eventually stopped responding. This experience was emotionally devastating for both me and my dog. Based on this experience, I would not boarding here. read more

Red flag- This place is very difficult to access and see. There are no "drop ins" and to schedule a time to tour or go see it you need to schedule weeks in advance. How can you get a true assessment of a facility that limits access so much? In addition, the only time you can see the facility is when the owner is there. Very suspect to me. I don't understand how pet owners can give high ratings to a facility where they have no access and can't just drop in to check up on their pet. People who love their pets and truly want good care will go elsewhere where there is transparency and access isn't so limited. You wouldn't accept anything near this for your children or elderly family members, why accept it for your dogs when there are so many completely transparent and accessible facilities available? read more

This past vacation our two dogs spent an entire week over at Kennelworth Kennels, and I wasn't worried for a minute. Not only, do they providing excellent boarding services but the team is well trained in behaviors and traits and allows the dogs to have play time with other dogs, without incidents! We were so thrilled to find a reasonably priced, safe, secure, clean and fun place for our dogs to stay when we go out of town. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they love to post photos of the dogs having a good time on their Facebook page, which is reassuring to a nervous dog owner like myself. We will always pay the extra $10 per dog (per day) so that they can participate in the day care. It does raise the cost of boarding a bit, but it is totally worth it because they come home exhausted and happy. read more

We went out of town for a week. We were nervous because this was our first time boarding our dog, but they were great! They said their local facility was full but they could send her out to a farm. My dog have been here sometimes since she was young, and they have been nice to my dog, but not this time. I haven't been there for last year and I am not a daycare user. So, for their defense they haven't seen my dog for a while, and I may not be an important customer any more. However, they just make their decision by questioning you. Be aware, when your pet reach 10 years old, they will evaluate your pet. They didn't let my dog to board because she was 14 years old. I was questioned about my dog's physical issues. I said my dog didn't like to go upstairs but she could still climb 5 or 6 steps. I have three steps at my house entry. She still hop up to our minivan and and sit on a captain seat by herself. She does running( or fetching) right after every meal twice a day. My dog is old but she can still walk and run. She may have stiff joints but she is not taking any painkiller or any medication yet. Even their boarding facility is on the ground level, my dog wasn't accepted. Their facility is not accommodating for old dogs like mine according to the owner. Reading between the lines, they want to have only easy care type of dogs during the busy weekend. It is not senior friendly place. Too bad... So I am taking my dog with us for my son's graduation. DON'T EVER USE KENNELWORTH KENNELS IN GLENVIEW, IL!!! THEY ARE THE WORST! I should of listened to my mother instinct when I brought her there to turn back around and go to the other place that cost double. It smelled, not one ounce of furniture in the office and they refused to let me see where Pumpkin our cat fur baby would be staying. I had to argue to just see a picture. We had to call to find out that she was having a hard time adjusting, not once did they call us. They used bite sleeves for she came aggressive and we were charged extra. When I picked her up, she is filthy, nats and litter and poop stuck to her bottom, for I guess she stayed in her litter box most of the time there. So I am going to have to traumatize her again to give her a bath. We were not allowed to pick her up on Sunday so we got charged for an extra day and our diabetic cat who needs to be fed and given meds no later than 6:30 am, when I came 8:30 am (for they do not open until 8), she was not given her meds or food. I am beyond pissed!!!! She IS my baby and I will not stand for it!!!!!! read more

I read the latest review by Robert K. and was shocked, to say the least. I have been boarding our 2 dogs there for the last year and a half and had NOTHING short of a wonderful experience. Kenneling for a dog is certainly stressful. But, our 2 dogs have always come home safe and happy. Zack and his staff are very accommodating and very knowledgeable. I trained and showed competitively in AKC obedience for 6 years, taught numerous puppy/beginner classes, and fostered 23 dogs for Doberman rescue. I have owned dogs since 1993. I am certainly not trying to tout my credentials. Rather trying to reflect I am no stranger to dogs. With all that said, I am very pleased with Kennelworth and outside of family and friends, this is the only kennel I would trust. read more

As a first time dog owner , I remember sheer panic -not joy ,as our vacation / cruise was 3 days away and I was still running around looking for safe , clean, affordable and .... place for our somewhat unpredictable -Siberian Husky puppy .. I run out in Horror after 3 min Tour of a nearby Vet Hospital that also had boarding in the back ...As quickly as I run through the operating room ( yes, surgery was taking place) shocked as the door opened to cold ,tiny ,four cages facility with no place to play and 15 min a day with human contact.! I Had to Find a better place for my boy. The same day a better place was recommended , however as similar ( and nearby) to Kenelworth Kennels -it was too Commercial . Well, like touring a big factory with a long line in and a long line checking out.. What if I pay for the swimming lesson but Z. never gets it .?. Or are All these dogs up to date with their shots ? Left more hopeful but still - no place for Z..! .Kenelworth Kennels was my last stop and hope.. Like a magnet as soon as I drove in , opened the door and looked all around - it finally felt right. I had to prove that Z was up to date with All shots , the blankets were being washed and folded ( nice touch), it felt like camp ! And the fact that Zack wanted to make sure that I Come Back to Get my boy did not hurt . Zack put me at ease as I e mailed , called and send texts. He answered all my questions . And before I got on board - Pictures of my boy Playing with a Friend !!WoW! I missed Z. , however felt confident that this place was doing everything they promised ! And they Did. I was referred here by a friend back in 2011, and brought my first and current dog there ever since... until last month. I have been driving 1 hr there and 1 hr back, paid a minimum of $130 for boarding and day camp because this was the first place I was told will help my dogs that have had special needs when it comes to socializing safely. Although they have treated my dogs wonderfully, and have taken special precaution with their temperaments for socializing, in my opinion, I have felt that they could care less about me being a loyal, referring, paying customer. Their staff is nice, but sometimes you just want to talk with the owner to feel like you are appreciated and heard when you have a bad experience. I have been waiting for a call back from owner Zach for over 2 weeks now, and is notoriously "Too Busy" and MIA which is unlike most small businesses that value your time/support and feedback and do what they can, even if it is to just say they are sorry, or that it will be better next time. These guys really love dogs! I take my dog here for boarding and daycare and she absolutely loves it ... she doesn't want to leave when I pick her up. I'm not sure what Robert K means by "20-30 dogs going absolutely crazy" ... they're dogs! That's what they do! Anyways, the owners operate this business out of their home so I know there's always somebody there to watch over my dog at night. They always give me a report on how she did when I pick her up. They are super organized and my dog loves going here. They provide free transportation to and from their grayslake campus which is a huge plus since their glenview location tends to book up rather quickly for holiday weekends. I have used them now 4-5 times and will continue to do so. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Kennelworth Kennels. Zack and Jane are warm, caring people who clearly love what they do. Their prices are fair, their care is top-notch, and their doggy day camp is the BEST. The best testament comes from my dog Dan: the minute we pull into the kennel's long driveway, Dan starts whining with excitement. He barely waits for the car door to open before he starts running toward the office door. Who ever heard of a dog pulling to get INTO a kennel? He especially loves doggy day camp, where he gets to spend the majority of the day romping in the fenced grassy yards with other dogs. He always comes home happy and exhausted. Kennelworth Kennels is, in my opinion, hands-down the best kennel in the North Shore. I love this place -- and so does my dog. read more

Kennelworth Kennels was highly recommended to be a respected dog trainer, and from the first day I was not disappointed. Zack knew more about my German Shepherd than I did. Zack and Jane (the entire staff, actually) are welcoming and professional. My dog is in terrific shape (emotionally and physically) when I pick him up. We were told by another kennel that one of our boys would never go to doggy day camp (because he was so damaged from an abusive owner before we rescued him!). Zack got him to PLAY with other dogs. He had fun!!! He wants to go back!!! Their facility is super - clean and loving, yet muddy and amazing for a dog. I have always liked this place and the staff. However I'm forced to look elsewhere because day camp books up months in advance. As of July 1st they are booked through 09/30/16. Business is booming so can't fault them for that - however it would be nice to have some sort of rotation or option to renew daycamp to allow for other dogs to attend. I don't want my dog transported to the other facility so I guess I'll be on the look out for a new doggie daycare. read more

A true 5!! Zach and the gang are hugely accomodating to the needs of our two rescued pitties. Meds, bedding, etc. Both of our "kids" participate in day care, and they come home happy and healthy. Love the indoor-outdoor runs, the staff friendliness, the fixation on cleanliness, and the obvious love of the animals. The fact that Zach and his family live onsite is a plus. He and his wife run this place, they are a young couple with lots of enthusiam and love for the dogs in their care. What a scam! These people know nothing about the care of animals, it's clear when you walk in and there are 20-30 dogs going absolutely crazy. A person being "warm and caring" doesn't mean they know how to care for your dog as they DON'T!. Salesmanship is on thing animal care is completely different. Our dog was clearly shaken and smelled horrible when we picked her up, never again will we consider this place as an option no matter what the situation. I have had nothing but great experiences here. Ezra can be a tough dog to deal with (very strong and prone to jump, climb fences, and escape) but Zack and Jane have had no problem working with him. The day camp option is very convenient and it's obvious he gets lots of attention and exercise with considerable outdoor time when weather permits. This place is the best! Zach and Jane really know what they are doing and trusting them with my dog is like trusting them with my kid. I've been taking my dog Barley here since he was 4 months old. I started off just taking him for day camp which Zach highly recommended for socialization since he was a puppy and it has been the best thing for him. He is now 3 years old and has been boarded there many many times and has participated in day camp over and over again. My dog literally runs into the place the minute I get him out of the car he loves it so much! I love that this place is a down to earth kennel without all the fancy amenities because at the end of the day what matters is that your dog is having fun, being exercised and is in a safe environment.
