My boyfriend and I met Robin and Rusty last night and they had recommended that we come to Robin's diner for breakfast and it was so amazing! Pancake was absolutely delicious and SO huge. Sausage gravy and biscuits were delicious! Eggs were fried perfectly over medium! Such an incredible meal, had the best luck to have run into them. Improve staff. Used to be a regular on Sundays. Coffee is slightly colored hot water, no taste but must be high profit since they use so little coffee to make it. It is getting harder to find a good breakfast that is not served at a chain restaurant. If you are looking for down home cooking with a "locals" flair, you will find it here. The wait staff knew everyone but me but that's ok because I am not local. I hear them chatting with customers about the weather, hunting, and local events. Felt nice and homey inside. Food came incredibly fast. The service is quick and friendly. My food showed up about 4 minutes after I ordered. Maybe I got someone else's order but it was what I wanted so I dug in. The gravy is homemade. I can tell because I make it at home. Eggs were perfect for over easy. Always hesitant when I say over easy because the whites are usually runny when ordered anywhere else. Not this time. Whites were just barely cooked which is perfect. The home fries were rough cut irregular sizes which tells me they are fresh and not from a bag. It's a basic diner with great food and service. Add home cooking and you have a great place to eat. I will be returning. read more

While driving down the interstate returning from vacation, we were discussing where we could grab a quick dinner without having to settle for fast food. A Yelp search led us here. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were apprehensive. It's a small brick building that shares a parking lot with a small motel - a throwback to a bygone era. Good reviews brought us here, so we gave it a shot. We were not disappointed. The staff is welcoming and the food is fresh and delicious! Although the tasty salads and entrees filled us up, we could not pass on the wonderful desserts. They are all baked fresh onsite like the diners of my youth. The pies are absolutely delightful! Just off of I-81, I will make a point to return to this exceptional diner every trip. read more

If you want to eat in the ultimate "local diner", this is it. If you blink, you'll miss it as you drive by on the two-lane highway. Food was very good, and employees were super-friendly. Food was a bit pricier than we expected given the normal portion sizes (i.e. there were no leftovers), but the prices were not out of bounds. They do have an ABC On License, so you can get beer and wine with your meal, which I wouldn't have expected at a roadside diner like this. Two things to note... 1. The breakfast menu ends there at 11:00 am. So, if you are hoping to get breakfast food for lunch, you are out of luck. 2. The desserts looked AMAZING. It was our first visit, and I didn't realize that they had a cooler full of amazing desserts available. I was already full by the time I saw them. If I'd known about them ahead of time, I would have ordered differently. read more

The service at CaraMELized is awesome and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Try the Mandarin Orange cake! It's a great way to finish off a meal! It's unfortunate but the last four or five times I've visited, it has seemed incredibly loud inside. It's not the staff or anything - I think there's just not much in the restaurant to dampen sounds inside. The experience is enjoyable when people are calm but if someone's talking loud, or someone's brought their kids, it can be incredibly difficult to hear someone across the table from you. This keeps me from returning more often than I'd like. Sometimes, I can't hear the servers above guests and that's frustrating. Still, the food and service keep us coming back. read more

Unassuming restaurant with great food! Home cooked amazingness. After 12 hours on the road this was right near my hotel so it was easy to get to and back. Friendly service, sunny yellow interior, really good prices. Owned by a veteran and the cooking all home done. I ordered the special: stuffed peppers and sweet potato fries. Added some carMELized onions with the pepper and a honey mustard dressing for the fries. It cam out SO quickly! Fresh fresh and great blended flavors in the pepper stuffing. I wish I'd had room for one of those homemade desserts! I don't understand why there are not more people here! Get yo' selves over! read more

Hot turkey sandwich is a breast roll. Waitress thought they cooked a whole turkey so we asked for dark meat. Shepherds pie I am sure would have been good, however you could not hear your self think for the 2 screaming kids. Men with them thought it was funny as they allowed kids to put feet on table. I have always had good meals and service here but today sucked. I know you are a family restaurant but 2 screaming kids should have been addressed. I hope my next visit will be better. read more

This stretch of 66 and 81 is pretty barren of places to eat, let alone not having to drive all the way into town. This is a local joint worth the ride off 81. Next to the Motel in a simple building with "Restaurant" on the wall outside the parking lot. Don't trust Google maps at the very very end. It tells you it's on the wrong side of the street. It's the only restaurant/building so it was easy to turn around and find--even after dark. Mixed menu of Southern food, bbq, burgers to Tomato Basil soup. Everyone can find something on this menu. And if you don't know that iced tea means sweet tea (default) the check to make sure you do. Drinks come in a glass Ball-like jar with a handle. Amazing all around: fried chicken, country fried steak, pulled pork, grilled chicken. The sides of soup, fries, mash with gravy, and cornbread were perfect. Especially the cornbread agreed by all. Made from scratch, the best chicken fried steak in maybe a decade. Only note: brown gravy not traditional sausage gravy. Was so good didn't matter. On and off 81 in about 45-50 min including stopping to refill with gas. This exit has fast food chains aplenty but take a trip a few minutes down the road. You won't regret it. Great stopping point on way to VT or all things south along 81. Or saunter out of Shenandoah. read more

So my wife brought me here a couple of years ago on a Yelp review, and I thought I needed to tell y'all this is well worth a roadtrip stop! The food is always amazing, tonight I had the 16oz Steak with cornbread, stewed tomatoes/squash, and coleslaw. Lori had her fav, salmon, stewed tomatoes and coleslaw. The service is always great, and most everything is made from scratch, including the homemade desserts! Being a "gf" foodie for the most part, you know it's amazing if I'm eating a brownie, which is so big, it resembles cake! Don't be turned away by the average building looks exterior, or the roadside motor lodge next door, it's truly a "Diamond Diner" on the inside! It's clean, friendly, and a fantastic place to eat. First of all 11.95 for a buffet that offers no more than 6 options is terrible second off nothing was seasoned all the bread options they did have were so dry that we nearly choked on them. We visited this great local restaurant twice in a week while in the area, each time for breakfast and it was excellent! Service was perfect, friendly and very personalized! The cream chipped beef over Texas toast was amazing the first day I tried it, so I got it over their home made biscuits the next day and that was even better! Their biscuits are light, fluffy and delicious. Omelets and eggs are nicely made. Egg sandwich is amazing too! Wish we would have come back during lunch and/or dinner as they have a really nice menu for both. This isn't your typical, greasy local food... Modest local diner with consistently solid dishes, tasty flavors, delectable sweets and a friendly and welcoming staff. Was in the area for a training and came here several times for lunch and breakfast. The service staff were very flexible, letting me bring my dog inside and keep her under the table. Lunch and breakfast specials change daily and include bottomless coffee. My first visit I had a very good cubano panini with a cup of potato soup. The next visit I had their spinach salad with lots of fresh fruit and cheese, and a piece of peanut butter pie. The last visit I had their French toast with scrapple. Everything was excellent. The pie was especially remarkable but everything was impressive and better quality than what I expected from such an unassuming place. The kitchen chef (I think her name is Patty) always impressed.
