Many years make many differences. After two ownership changes and the final acquisition by Vail Corporation Roundtop has become less of what it was these past years. The family friendliness is gone. The daycare is gone. The daytime weekly mom's on the mountain is gone. Even the plugs for crockpots are gone. Can you believe even the complimentary check-in for skis is gone It's all corporate. It's all Vail. Yes, your epic pass will work. The mountain hasn't changed. But the people and the vibe that used to make Roundtop a special place for families is nowhere to be seen. A special note to anyone from Vail, who happens to read this. There is is a family of five skiers that grew up at Roundtop because I brought them there. The mothers were able to ski during the week with the babies and toddlers. There was daycare for the babies and toddlers. There were plugs for the crockpot for the lunches downstairs. It's all gone. The only thing left is the purchase price and share value of the corporation. Where do you expect the next generation of skiers to come from? read more

The staff are friendly and seem safety oriented. This is a close place to travel to in the area with decent snowmaking with nice snow tubing and slopes. It was not too crowded and the guests were orderly (which is not always the case). Food is okay. I recommend getting your tickets online in advance! Was ambivalent as first was going to give this two stars. I have to first say, that I'm not happy Vail Resort bought this, Ski Liberty, and Whitetail. They've purchased others in Pennsylvania, and I don't think this will help with prices. This past trip I didn't ski, but I've been here several times. The slopes aren't anything complicated, but I enjoy the North side view of Three Mile Island Nuclear Reactor off in the distance. It's a good view, and this part of PA south of Harrisburg is picturesque. Their prices have gone up. Chicken tenders, French fries, and a beer for $25. That's insane. I expect food at any resort to cost a lot, but let's be honest, this would be $7 anywhere else. Quality wasn't really there. A $7 cup of coffee also wasn't all that. The dining area has windows to see outside, but it so needs to be upgraded. My son was able to hammer the slopes out, as I'm recovering from back issues. I want to ski again. No I'd not like to go from high speed to zero again. Age is a realistic factor, but I checked the small ski shop out. Also I did get some quality kindle reading time in. Yet there's nothing that really sticks out here. The ski lifts are still the old pokey ones. What made me give this three stars was the employees. They are the same folks as years past, and all are super fun, polite, and kind. It's an okay place due to them, but I prefer other resorts more. read more

The slopes were well-manicured and the skiing was great! The main lodge was warm and toasty with a good selection of food. The rental pick-up and return process was generally efficient, although the location and layout of that area was a bit confusing. read more

There are more than ten 10-minutes drop-off parking spots along the fence. The Roundtop Mountain Sport Shop is a separate building on the furthest east along the fence. The Tickets and the Guest Services building is on the most western side. The staff checked and scanned EpicPass on both sides of that Tickets building. We then headed directly to the lifts. There is a Backcountry BBQ shop and many seats around fire pits outdoor. After two hours of skiing, we went into the Main Lodge. The lower ground level has a cafe with fewer choices. There are approximate 100 seats on that level. The middle main level has a cafeteria with much more food and drink choices, and has hundreds of seats with a few booths. There are four checkout lines, so it was not too bad with tens of patrons waiting to pay there. The chicken noodle soup, the chilis, and the grilled cheese with chips were all at average quality. The Fireside Pub & Grill locates on the upper top level. read more

My husband and I went snow tubing here at the beginning of March. It was an easy process showing the employees our tickets and getting the tubes. We had a lot of fun! Out of the two hours we were there, we got to go on maybe ten times. The only thing I'd have to say was that only four lanes were open out of the six or seven that were available, during peak hours. We went around 2:00 in the afternoon. It was definitely worth the price we paid though. read more

Had so much snowboarding fun here ! The whole process of getting a full day pass, and equipment rentals was very easy. We went on a Saturday which was busy but getting on the ski lift wasn't a long wait surprisingly. Parking was free. Staff was nice. Many trails of varying difficulty here. The only thing was that we had to eat at the outdoor food shack (and it was 15 degrees outside), food sucked and was expensive (we got chicken tenders and pulled pork sandwich.) They have an indoor restaurant but you had to show proof of Covid vaccination card (2 people in my group were not vaccinated). Highly recommend coming here for snowboarding/skiing/ snow tubing ! read more

I have come to ski roundtop several times a year for the last 3-4 years now, and enjoy it every time. I am a casual skiier and wifey doesn't ski but likes to snowtube on their 80 foot drop course. In the summer, we come here for their "ogo balls", essentially where you get inside a huge bouncy hamster ball filled with water and get rolled down a hill. I think they offer decent beginner skiing, fun snowtubing and summer ogo ball fun for a decent price - fun for the whole family! Final Grade: 4/5 stars. read more

This review is for the snow tubing only. We went on Friday and got 5 runs in before it got really crowded. They had to shut down the lift on and off because it was too crowded at the top. They sell reservations for two hours slots and are selling way too many tickets to make this any fun. Waiting on a lift for 30 minutes with kids is not fun for me or them. read more

Great food but very expensive. Costs me over $20 for 3 pretzels. Also, the lift going up to the snow tubing hills was very slow and they kept stopping it. The hill was fun going down with friends until they made every lane one rider at a time. The hot chocolate was good but heads up you need to make it yourself and the water is very very hot. This ski resort is not an inclusive nor welcoming place for BIPOC (Black-Indigenous People of Color). On February 6, 2021, a group of mutual friends of mine from college visited this resort. Among the group was my African American friend. The group members comprised of non-black POC and one white identifying European person. The group were some of the first to arrive at the resort and went to their cars to retrieve snowboards and equipment. Upon returning to the resort with snowboards and other equipment in hand, a white employee approaches my African American friend in an accusatory manner. The employee asks my African American friend what he is doing with the snowboard--as to assert the notion that my friend stole it. The employee did not approach any of the other members of the group with such accusations, just my African American friend. It was also my African American friend's first time snowboarding. In order for him to learn the slopes and get acquainted, the group participated in a beginner's course led by an instructor. During the course, the instructor made culturally insensitive comments (ie "stand like a gangster"). Although some would and can argue that the instructor was simply using language and imagery that were familiar to his audience and that he was simply trying to bring humor into the course, it was still done in poor taste considering another employee accused my African American friend of stealing a snowboard. Additionally, this same instructor gave every other customer in the course positive and supportive feedback. He did not extend the same support to my African American friend. I've been discouraging my BIPOC friends within the surrounding areas not to patron this resort, as Roundtop Resort seems to struggle with and maintain a high level of indifference towards promoting and fostering an inclusive space. Perhaps Roundtop should actively and diligently recruit more BIPOC instructors and staff and consult with experts around racial justice in finding anti-racism training for their employees and management teams. After hearing about my African American friend's experience, I do not feel safe nor comfortable as a BIPOC woman myself patroning such a resort. I hope that if management is committed to and serious about inclusivity that they don't ask me to remove this review. read more

VAIL = FAIL. DO NOT EVER BUY AN EPIC-PASS! My experience. I pre-planned a ski trip for my family in NOV 2021 to Ski Roundtop in Pennsylvania (Part of Vail Resorts). I went to the Ski Roundtop web-page [https://www.skiroundtop.com/] to look for info on how to attend. After much reading and comparing, I purchased 5 Epic-Passes for DEC 21/22 for Ski Roundtop in Pennsylvania (required to pre-pay and choose exact days, so I chose DEC 21/22 as when we planned to go). As a non-skier, I did not know [yet] that the Epic-Pass was different than a Ski Roundtop Lift Ticket (all of the literature described the Epic-Pass as functioning 'like' a lift ticket, and that mirrored what an employee told me on the phone when I called Roundtop to ask). Well, Ski Roundtop could not open DEC 18th (as shown on their website back in NOV). Not their fault, they simply had no snow. Since I thought the Epic-Pass was 'like' a lift-ticket, I was not too worried about all of the warnings about passes being non-refundable (the fine print said that unused "Lift Tickets" could be refunded). It was not until I started making calls to inquire about refunds for my 5 Epic Passes that I learned the difference (i.e. a Lift Ticket is from Roundtop, while a company called Sedgewick handles Epic-Passes for Vail; https://www.sedgwick.com/). Bottom-line, Sedgwick would not pursue a refund for me, because Ski Roundtop never opened (because no snow). That is "weather-related" and not covered. My $700.00 lessons learned? VAIL DOES NOT CARE and DO NOT EVER BUY AN EPIC-PASS! THEY ARE [basically] COMPLETELY NON-REFUNDABLE--EVEN IF THE SKI RESORT DOES NOT OPEN!!!! (as of today, 12/21/2021, Ski Roundtop is still not yet open for the season, and I don't know when they will open. BUYER BEWARE!!! Look at purchasing resort-specific lift tickets vice Epic-Passes (at least then you MAY be able to get a refund if your lift-tickets are unused). Lastly, I'm not sure why Vail Resorts allows the purchase of passes for resorts that are not yet open and it is not known when they will open. I also don't know why none of the employees at Ski Roundtop would not warn potential customers about the difference between an Epic-Pass and a Roundtop lift ticket. read more

However, the check-in process is terrible for "season pass and night club card members". We wasted an hour of ski time just trying to find out where we get the cards printed up. Meanwhile, we are holding our heavy bags thinking this is the last line each time. ***note: to pick up your cards go around back, behind rentals, to guest services- NOT the line outside out front or the office out front. Not downstairs at the lodge where customer service used to be... that's now a coffee shop. ** Then go to the rental place down stairs to change and put stuff in locker/cubbies. If you're renting get the rental form at the boot station. They were making snow last night...which was breathe taking beautiful. Ahhh, skiing fills the soul. read more

Definitely happy with their precautions in a COVID world - masks required and having a lift chair with only the people you came with. Lines for the lift were over 45 minutes. The mountain was a sheet of ice with bare spots- no newly blown snow even though temps have have been colder the past few days. Dangerous skiing conditions. Pitcher of beer $22 for Blue Moon. And the shuttle driver did not take us to the upper upper parking lot because he said it was too crowded. We had to walk through the parking lot which was a sheet of ice to our car- for the price you pay they could have added an extra shuttle and took us up to the upper upper parking lot. read more

Enjoyed a day of skiing here. The slopes are decent for the region, maybe 4 green routes, 1 blue with a few veins, and maybe 4 diamonds. There's also a decent sized half pipe and terrain course. The snow was great, it's close by, easy parking, and not too crowded. What I really liked about Roundtop was all the extra entertainment and stuff going on off the slopes. They had bands playing all day, a mechanical bull, and lots of great food options. Naturally the food was priced outrageously, but that's the nature of the beast I suppose, it was tasty at least. Prices are okay for lift tickets and rentals, not too expensive for the sport. I'd go back again. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to do the Vertical Trek and it was an unforgettable experience. We were signed up for the morning session (10 am) and got there around 9:20, due to his need to be earlier than normal for events. The office where we needed to check in was still closed when we arrived, so we walked around the rest of the resort and compared the quiet summer morning to the chaos we've seen in the winter. Right around 9:40 the office opened up and we walked in to get our wristbands and sign waivers. We were told that our group of 8 would be meeting right outside the office and be ready to leave by 9:55. Sure enough, two college-aged girls (Sam and Lauren, I believe) came out and met our group. They took us down to the supply shed where they walked us through how to put on our harnesses, lobster claws, and harnesses. Our group was a nice blend of all ages and personalities, ranging from around 13 years old all the way up to mid-50s. After we were all suited up, the group took a ski lift ride up to the top of the mountain - which was very high up! I was terrified to look down off the lift despite only ever being no more than 20 feet off the ground. Our guides then mentioned that they would take pictures at any time, which of course was cause for us to stop and take in the scenic view. Next, we were instructed on how to move around on the stands ("transferring," "watching," "safety check," "check") and were given some information on what we could expect. And then, we were off! Each zip line included some type of bridge or net to get from one place to the other. Some were high off the ground, whereas other were pretty low. Our guides were very helpful throughout the entire trek and our group developed a sense of camaraderie through helping one another navigate through each space. One of the zips was the "Tarzan zip" where you had no choice but to give your best Tarzan yell... Mine was subpar at best. Halfway through the trek, we stopped for a water break and some more conversation. The second half of the trek included some hiking and the final zips (one of which included the high-five tree), ending with a long slide-like net. We finished our trek right around 1 pm, returned our gear, and headed up to the lodge for a beer. We weren't sure whether we should tip our guides, so I raised the question and they said it was optional. We then walked back to the car and took out some cash to give each of them. Overall, the experience was really great. I wish that we would have been given some more information on what to expect rather than just jumping into it, but that could be because the date was a surprise to me and I hadn't looked at the website at all. Our guides were very well trained and helpful while also joking and engaging with us the entire time. It was around $70 per person, so not sure if I would do that exact trek again, but I do highly recommend it! read more

I grew up going to Roundtop. This was where I learned to ski and spent the better half of 15 years frequenting. Bottom line, it's not the biggest nor does the place have the longest trials but Ski Roundtop is Solid Mountain to go skiing. Roundtop has plenty of variety from Double Diamonds to beginner runs. They also have a nice lodge with casual fare and pretty nice bar/grill on the third floor called Fireside. The rentals are in good shape and the instructors are great. If your close and you want some solid skiing, do your self a favor and check it out. read more

I am not a a winter lover... but they have lots of new activities for spring-fall. Paint ball.. zip lines... rope courses... and the ogo balls. Spent 4 hrs there and was exausted by the end. Staff was courteous, and helpful. The cost is a little pricey but the experience is well worth it. They have something for almost everyone. Your wallet will dictate what you do. Took my youngest boy (5) and he was able to do almost everything. It kept his attention and challenged him and me. Lots of teenagers there, they all looked like they were having a blast. Snack bar was nice and was not overly pricey. Overall fun for EVERY ONE. The only down side is cost.. this wasnt cheap. Was just under $70 for two of us. Side note.. the roads to the resort are country back roads, so they tend to be narrow and slow.. read more

There were 3 children that had fallen and couldn't get up- I yelled for the lift to top or the four about to get off was going to crash into them. Why you should go to Ski Roundtop (or, the day Juliet S. learned how to ski): Saturday, President's Day Weekend (also Valentine' day weekend and my fiance's birthday weekend - oy!) - took my wonderful man here to celebrate his birthday and quench his thirst for some skiing action. It had been roughly 4 years since he had hit the slopes, and roughly...20 years...since I had. Yes, I had only been skiing once before, when I was 5 or 6, with my family, in Vermont. Needless to say, what was supposed to be a take-my-guy-to-ski trip turned into something more like have-a-very-gracious-and-loving-fiance-teach-me-to-ski-when-he-should-be-on-the-black-diamonds. So, with two very different skiing backgrounds, we came to Roundtop unsure of what to expect. And we walked away really happy with our experience here. (Although - this is how he taught me...he said the "bunny slope" had to be reached by the chair lift, so with my virginal ski pants and equipment and my ZERO experience, I hobbled to the line, got on the lift with him, and got to the top, realizing that this could not in any way be a bunny slope. I proceeded to fall...down...a lot...). In the end, though, after several hours of falling and laughing and falling and laughing some more, I was able to go down the green circle trails many times without falling! There are loads of people here learning, from children to adults, so it is a very low-stress place to try this for the first (or second or third) time. All that to say, this is a great place to learn how to ski (or snowboard). If you aren't lucky enough to have a patient person to spend all day teaching you, as I had, no worries - there are heaps of instructors who give group or private lessons. And when I had gotten comfortable to go down a trail by myself, my guy had a lot of fun racing down the slopes, too. We stayed until nearly 9 pm (skiing ends at 10 pm) and the night skiing was great. Lines for the lift were a fraction of the size and the lighting of the slopes was great. There is a complimentary shuttle that takes people from the base to the parking area, although it isn't a very far walk. As far as prices go, we got a great deal. I booked a room at the Courtyard Marriott in Mechanicsburg (a 20 min drive away), which included two lift tickets in the price. Lift tickets for 8 hours are about $56, and equipment rentals will run you about $38 (skis and boots - helmets are extra). Locker rentals are just a couple of bucks. The fireside cafe is a great restaurant to go into for a defrost. However, it is a sit-down place, so you'll need to allocate a chunk of time out of your mountain time for this. I wish there was a little cafe or snack shop for a quick refresher drink as well. The people who work at Roundtop - the adults - are friendly and funny. The teenagers, however...Lord have mercy. They were tending the rentals and the lifts, and all of them seemed a bit, shall we say, surly? And ditzy? I won't let that affect my rating of the place overall, though, because I think in all, whether a novice or an experienced skier, Ski Roundtop can fit the bill for your winter fun needs. (Snow tubing is also available, and in the spring/summer, they also have advertised a ropes course and paintball) read more

All day snow tubing for $28. You can come and go as you please, which is great if you want to explore the surrounding areas or grab a cheaper and tastier bite to eat. The reason I give it 3 stars is because of the lack of structure when it comes to getting your inner tube. 95% of the children are brats and don't understand the concept of WAIT YOUR TURN. I'd like to see the place install some sort of system that enforces manners. Or at least have someone there to hand you your tube, rather than having to fight to the death for it. read more

Ok, let me just start off by saying the kids who work here are the rudest you'll ever come across. They don't care about you, they don't care if you're lost, they don't care if you care, PERIOD. Then a lady will yell at you if you don't have a snowboard hooked to one of your feet before getting on the lift - OH SORRY, SOMEONE FIRST DOING THIS HOW WOULD I HAVE ANY IDEA, BY THE INVISIBLE SIGNS PROBABLY?? Don't take your frustration out on me, I'm sorry you push a STOP button on the lift for a living. I came 7-10pm on a weekday. Kid asked if my boyfriend and I knew how to snowboard, I said no. Then he tried asking me if I wanted a teacher for about $10 less. Well, heck yeah I do. The catch? You have to stay on the bunny hill. You're kidding right? No, thanks. I'll youtube that crap before I'll ever waste $60 bucks on a hill worth nothing. I've been to one other resort prior to this, so I can't really point out the good and bad about the hills. But, what I can tell you, the ski resort I went to in the Poconos was NOTHING compared to this. This was more like a POS, run down place compared to that. Overpriced food as well. I guess that's expected. Need to pay all those kids minimum wage and make money somehow. Although I must say the adults who worked there were kind as day. Don't even waste your money here. read more

While it is just a little bump of a ski slope they do a terrific job. If you have kids the youth program was very impressive. I was even very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the snow - far less icy than I was expecting. They also have a tubing slope - it is fun and seems very well run - the lines are minimal. We visited here when the conditions weren't the best...it was alternating between rain, freezing rain, and drizzle. I was a little apprehensive because I was coming with a group of beginners and I know how hard it can be to learn how to ski on ice. I was so impressed with the condition of the slopes. Every lift was open, and every trail (green and blue) was in great condition. My friends all took learn to ski lessons and I spied on them while skiing on my own. The instructors were very knowledgable, and every single one of my friends were skiing by the end of their lesson. My friends gave their instructors rave reviews. I know Roundtop is notorious for being overcrowded, but it wasn't the case today. We got lucky because of the weather, as the slopes were pretty empty and there was virtually no wait for the lifts. We also did night skiing and it was a blast...lighting was excellent. All in all, it's a great slope for those just learning to ski. There aren't a ton of trails for the moderate/advanced skier, but it will do for a day trip. read more

This is the older ski resort of the three. I enjoy coming here it has a simple setup - parking much closes to the slopes than big resorts and people are very friendly. What can I say, Pennsylvanians are just really nice people. It's usually not as crowded as Whitetail so it makes learning easier if you are not very good the slopes. This is where they hold the regional ski competition. I am proud to say my friend whom I gave support to by driving up 2 hours each way was ranked 6th in the competition! There is lodge area where you can view the competition from and a store where you can get some wax or a new beanie. At the lodge there really isnt a place for depositing your snowboards but the people are so nice they let put in the barn where they store tubing and equipment while you have a cup of coffee. They have tubing for kids as well. read more

The prices here are the same as Liberty or Whitetail but the mountain is smaller and there are fewer slopes. There is only one lift that services beginner slopes and so long lines form. We went on a Wednesday and the rental shop was understaffed. It took over an hour to rent all of our equiptment. Next time I'll definitely be going to Liberty or Whitetail. read more
