A typical weekend includes a variety of activities such as an outdoor movie, maybe a live band, some sort of contest, perhaps a golf cart race or a chili cook-off. Then there are the usual weekly items like horseshoes, cornhole and bingo. Ms. Deb always has activities for the kids and LeAnn is very involved with the Make A Wish foundation and her annual auction. Jaron (the manager) is a workaholic and a huge personality who you can't help but love. Unlike many campgrounds these guys don't have their hand out around every corner trying to nickel and dime you to death. Activities are included in your site rental. I originally went for one week, then decided to leave my motorhome there for the month and I now have a seasonal site.

It appears years ago there was gravel for parking and concrete walkways but these have all deteriorated and become mud during the rain. The road through is well paved. There are a few drive -through spots that are grassy but they're not level and hilly. Good WiFi. Clean bathroom. Many perm guests. Nothing for kids but a curious yet very dangerous looking rusted lean-to near the trash where a mattress has been for quite some time. Directly parallel to highway and truck retarders sound off 24/7 and shake your unit. Lots of garbage around. There is a 4:20 fire pit you can blaze up at daily. Good if you're in and out.

You get a private bathroom, 2 beds, a microwave, small refrigerator, a table for 2 and a coffee maker. I stayed there for a multi day walk on the rail trail. Its very peaceful and the first night I enjoyed a bonfire at the fire pit. The room has a covered porch entrance which makes it nicer. The room also comes with a remote control heater/AC. Overall I plan to stay there again next time I am in town. This is my 4th time to this place. I have stayed in the Lodge twice and the Motel twice. I prefer the Motel over the Lodge as it is much quieter and also feels more like home.

The RV neighbors had adorable lights set up and a cute garden. The staff was VERY nice, they have a cool little store with food/drinks/stuff to buy (including shot glasses from every state, interesting). The bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner and the bathroom stalls were a little bit on the small side, but it was nice enough. I'd definitely stay again, and the location is very convenient to downtown and the battlefield sites.

For what they charge to camp here placing some Wi-Fi boosters would improve the experience. During our last stay the campground lost water pressure. This was resolved within a couple of hours, but is we were leaving on this day it would have delayed us. Was always our first choice campground, but now might consider one of the others when we return to the area.

They do have activities and a wonderful camp store, but there are some downfalls to long term stays. My husband and I stayed here for a little over a month while having renovations done to our home. If it weren't the fact that it was the closest campground to our home, we probably would have stayed elsewhere. Some of the spaces are extremely tight, while others are large enough for two sites. Site #221 and 127 are huge, as are 215, 216, 217 and a couple others in that area. Then you get to the full hook-up sights and are squeezed in like sardines. Some campers can't even open their awnings it is so tight. And if you are in the spot near the one end, you are surrounded by two spots with permanent rentals, and another spot where they back right up against the side of your camper. You have nothing to look at but other campers. You are only allowed one vehicle per site, which is fine for short term, but if you are actually 'living' there and have to go to work every day, who wants to walk half way around the campground to get to your vehicle? Especially when there is plenty of room for two vehicles. You seem to be watched constantly by their 'security' staff and somewhat harrassed more when you are a long term guest. Nobody seems to chase anyone down that goes over the 5 mph speed limit either. (One plus is that "Bob" is not there anymore). There were people flying around, kicking up dust, it was awful. Dirt bikes, three wheeled motor bikes, driving like idiots around small children, pets, etc. and nobody said a word. And the guy on this three wheeled bike had his music so loud you could probably hear it in the next county! They will also nickle and dime you for just about everything. Don't show up early, you will have to pay. Pull through sites with only electric and water cost more than full hook up sites. We couldn't even have our kids visit unless they paid to come in. I understand if you are having some big party, but we were living there! If you are unfortunate enough to be near the trash dumpsters, hold your breath because there are no lids on them and it gets pretty rank on hot days. And there is one other thing for certain, if it rains, it WILL flood. Don't let them tell you any differently. Heavy rain for a long period of time sends a lot of people packing. The creek will overflow and anyone near it will be flooded out.

I arrived about an hour early to stroll the grounds and take in the beauty and tranquility of nature. The entire resort was impeccably clean and beautifully maintained. The historic stone buildings, mansion, barn, and surrounding grounds were absolutely gorgeous, and the historic Allenberry Playhouse was especially charming. Allenberry is a beautiful resort featuring several stone mansions along the world-renowned, crystal-clear waters of Yellow Breeches Creek, which is known for its trout fishing--particularly fly fishing. Dinner at The Barn at Fairfield Hall was excellent. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection--so tender it could be cut with a butter knife. The chicken breast was juicy and flavorful, and it was served with baby potatoes. The mixed-green salad with honey-balsamic dressing was fresh and delicious. Everything was prepared beautifully and tasted phenomenal. The waitstaff were extremely attentive and pleasantly accommodating. Allenberry is truly a place to create beautiful memories--whether you're planning a romantic getaway, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying a wonderful meal in an upscale yet comfortable setting. The entire evening was lovely, and Allenberry is a beautiful and unique destination.

We went to the Barn at Allenberry for an anniversary dinner two weeks ago, and left a $30 cash tip in the folio along with our signed receipt. I just saw on my credit card statement that $25 was added to our bill without authorization. The manager credited the amount, initially stating that the server "might have mixed up my tip with a similar check at another table." When I questioned if she checked the signed restaurant receipt, she responded that "this was not an intentional or fraudulent charge but rather a processing error during tip entry." She confirmed that tips are entered manually, and that in my case, "it appears a tip was entered in error when it should have been left at zero." How was this NOT intentional since someone had to manually add the tip? Isn't it illegal to alter charges to a signed credit card receipt? Where are the checks and balances? Be sure to check your credit card charges!

Join us for an evening of festive cheer, scenic views, and holiday sounds as we spread joy throughout the season." All of that checked out. And then some. First of all: this ride is shockingly affordable. I did the Christmas train ride in the heated caboose, departing at 7:30 PM, and tickets were only $13 on a mid-December night. I got a complimentary hot chocolate and an adorable train-shaped sugar cookie, which honestly felt like a bonus at that price point. Pro tip: arrive at least 15 minutes early and check in at the station to retrieve your tickets -- even if you bought them online. It makes the whole process smoother. The ride itself was about 30 minutes, and I'm very glad I chose the heated caboose. It was cold outside, but the caboose was surprisingly warm thanks to a small coal stove, and it wasn't nearly as drafty as I expected for such an old train car. The volunteers were fantastic -- sharing a bit of history about the railroad and talking about upcoming events -- and the train itself was decorated with SO. MANY. LIGHTS. It felt festive without being over-the-top. Overall, it was a really fun and charming way to spend a December Saturday night, even as a solo adventure. Nothing fancy, just wholesome holiday joy. Logistics note: there's plenty of parking in the grassy area near the station, but if you've never been before, nighttime arrival can be a little tricky since the path isn't very well lit. My advice? Follow the lights. Just follow the lights and listen for the train horn. Keep driving. You'll find it. For $13, this was absolutely worth it -- cozy, festive, and a perfect dose of Christmas cheer.
