Perfectly located if you want to learn about and enjoy the local Amish culture. Beautiful setting, with a quiet stream running along the campsites. A working Amish farm can be seen across the stream. We sat in the morning and watched a farmer low with a team of horses. Licated on the same site as Dutch Wonderland (a quaint amusement park) and the Cartoon Network hotel. It's a short and scenic drive to Bird in Hand or Intercourse, to shop and watch horse-drawn buggies go by. If you are looking for a great family spot, i don't see how you could do better than Old Mill Stream. read more

I had the best experience camping here! The tent campsite that we reserved had a gorgeous view of the stream and farm across from it. It seemed like at least 50% of guests also had a dog with them, but everyone was such respectful and courteous dog owners that you couldn't hear any dogs barking my entire trip, and I didn't even see any dog poop lying around! Coming from the city, that's awesome! Haha. The bathrooms and showers were clean and conveniently located. I can't wait to return for another great camping adventure! read more

After last year's adventure, we were eager to come back to Old Stream Mill but decided to stay in a cabin because our kiddos were petrified of staying in a tent during a storm (based on last year). This review is for Cabin 4. The good/bad with bringing your own linens is that you get really close and personal with the mattress. While the mattress was sealed with plastic there was a large gouge on the side of the plastic and several spots where we found ourselves frantically googling to see if it was safe to sleep on. The box spring was worn and had the bottom torn out. Ultimately, we all ended up piling onto the futon and didn't sleep on the bed at all. I'm not sure what the black spots were on the inside of the mattress cover but I definitely didn't want to find out. The rest of the cabin was updated and mostly very nice. Two exceptions, the main set of blinds which allowed you to see into the whole cabin were stuck and were not able to be fixed until the next day. We came in, changed and went to the Dutch Wonderland preview night and when we returned, the fridge had apparently frozen and started to thaw all over the floor. The staff couldn't locate a mop at first so we had to mop up the water with a roll of paper towels and my husband started to chip away at the ice to thaw the freezer. I went to the office to let them know we weren't happy and they were very sweet about it but there was no maintenance until tomorrow and with 2 tired and hungry kiddos, moving out of the cabin at almost 8pm due to no blinds or fridge wasn't a great idea, especially since we had already gone through the effort of cleaning all the sticky spots on the table and and cleaning the flood. The big issue with the blinds were that the bathroom was on one side of the cabin and the windows made it hard to get 2 kids bathed and into jammies with any semblance of privacy. I got 2 big trash bags from the sweet woman in the office and some painter's tape and I made a temporary shade and my husband fixed the fridge. Luckily, she also found us a mop so we were able to dry the floor off when we ran out of paper towels. We were told that the manager would be by to speak with the next day to discuss a price adjustment but that didn't happen. The next day the shades were repaired, but between the scary mattress, the fridge freezing and flooding, and the one night with fabulous trash bag shades, I do not think it was worth 155 bucks per night. The staff was very nice (though the manager didn't seem to think we were worthy of speaking to) but unfortunately we didn't leave with as positive of an impression as we did last year. read more

We absolutely love this place!!!! We will def come back to it. You have the option to camp in a tent a camper or a teepee. We are staying in a teepee because we thought are kids will love it and they do! Not only it's fun but comfortable and something different. The campground is conveniently located right next to Dutch Wonderland Amusement park, so you can literally walk there. Which we did today and it was awesome! We were the first ones at the park came out to eat lunch and stay till the very end until it was dinner time. I have to mention also that the bathrooms are spotless!!! Clean hot showers too. There is a playground and plenty of room for the kids to play and enjoy a nice camping experience. The only negative thing I would say the wood they sell at the shops expensive. I love comping to this campground and look forward to our trip each year. This year is our 4th year and we always come the end of September. I especially love feeding the ducks when they wonder up to the office. There is so much to do in the area, and we try to find something new each year to visit. The only down fall is there isn't much activity at the campground to do, cause I'm sure they want you to take your kids to Dutch Wonderland, all is well and good if you have kids to take there. Never really had any issues with the staff, all were always friendly. I highly recommend the baked goods from the horse and buggy that comes into the campground. read more

We have been going to Lancaster County for years and always love to camp in the summer. We had been going to a different campground, but were unhappy with some of the changes that had taken place there, as well as how far it was from the main attractions. We decided to try out Old Mill Stream and boy are we thrilled that we did. The staff here was just amazingly gracious and sweet. The campground caters largely to Campers and RV's, but we were welcomed just as warmly with our tent. The tent site we stayed on had water and electric, but was very wooded for area (it is right off of Rt. 30 which is the large main road cutting through Lancaster and so many times when you camp in Lancaster you are out in the middle of a huge field with little to no trees and it gets HOT). It was near the back of the campground close to a lovely stream and far from Dutch Wonderland Amusement Park (which is right next door). We had nice shade in the morning and the site was spacious enough to spread out. It included a picnic table and fire ring and we still had plenty of room for a large tent and our car. The bathrooms were AWESOME. They were incredibly clean and they were air conditioned which is always a plus in the summer. The showers had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. They also had family showers which were private and had a toilet, sink and large shower as well as a bench. These are great if you have small children that need assistance showering, or if you are handicaped and need a larger area. The laundry area was also clean and the prices reasonable. The staff working in the office/store couldn't be more nice or helpful. Anything you needed they did their best to help with, whether it was an item you forgot or directions to an attraction or just the inside scoop on the best place to get breakfast. They also kept you up to date on any issues that might cause extra traffic or close roads in the area. We just couldn't be any happier with our experience here and plan to keep coming back for many years. I highly recommend checking this place out if you want to camp in the heart of lancaster and still feel like you are really camping. The prices are very competative, especially considering how central you are to all the local attractions. As a bonus, we got free tickets to either Dutch Wonderland or the Discover Lancaster County History Museum with our stay. That value alone gives you almost a free night of tent camping! read more

It's truly sad what has happened here. It used to be owned by a very nice couple (Jim & Diane). Now it is owned by the company that owns Dutch Wonderland, which is not an American corporation. They have raised the prices and it no longer has an intimate atmosphere for my family and several others. Trying to make reservations can be frustrating, because the office has no control over online reservations. There is no pool, although we enjoy watching the cows hang out in the stream behind the campground. We recently had a power issue at 9:00 at night. Security came from Dutch Wonderland. He was polite, but readily admitted he knew nothing about rv's. He also told us that there was no equipment available to test the site's electrical supply. He hung around and watched my husband try to fix the problem and then he left. No further suggestions for us to remedy our lack of current. In the past when a camper had a problem, Jim would personally offer you assistance. He was a fellow camper and understood a camper's needs. This foreign company can't possibly run this business correctly. A great campground is owned and operated by people who are hands on with their customers! We're going to find a new campground. read more

This was our first camping experience. I was very concerned about the bathrooms, especially with 2 young kids. We were surprised to find that the bathrooms were SUPER clean. There were private bathrooms and bathrooms with stalls for toilets and showers. The campground was great, people were pleasant, and the staff was nice. An Amish man with a horse and buggy comes around a couple times a day with fresh baked goods and flowers. We had a great time! read more

Just spent a fabulous week at Old Mill Stream our favorite campground since 1981. Close to everything in Lancaster never had a problem with the campground. Some people complain too much saying the store is only open till 6:00. Not true the summer months they are open till 9:00 pm. after Labor Day the hours change never found it to be a problem. We will be back!! read more

The park was a little hard to find with all the construction but don't give up it's worth the hassle. Good except they need air conditioning in women's bathroom. Nice tree lined area there's trees in almost every camp spot at least one tree to have a playground no pool fishing in a creek close by there. and it's right near a place for the kids to play at a amusement park. read more

Our first tent camping trip with our 2 young children in conjunction with a visit to Dutch Wonderland. We high recommend this campground- walking distance to the park, extremely friendly staff, the cleanest bathroom and shower facilities I've seen. The boys loved seeing the ducks and cows (!) in the stream and enjoyed playing on the playground. There were tons of children riding bikes, scooters, etc. The majority of the campers were RV campers but there are about 10 tent sites along the bank of the stream, where we stayed, and it was a really nice location. We'll stay there when we visit Lancaster again! read more

We love this campground. My husband and I have camped here several times. We now bring our grandson with us. The bathrooms are VERY, VERY clean and have a/c. BONUS!!!! It is just a short walk to Dutch Wonderland. Another BONUS if you have kids. An amish man comes through the campground on Saturday mornings with fresh baked goods...if he has extras he comes back around in the afternoon. This is a quiet campground, well maintained and very friendly staff. Pretty pasture across the stream...you will often see horse and buggies traveling along the road. When we travel we compare all other bathroom facilities to those at Old Mill Stream. These are perfect! We don't live too far away so this is a nice mini vacation for us if we leave our grandson at his house. Great campground! We will continue to camp here. read more

Nice campground. Large clean family bathrooms. Loved the cows across the stream. Nice little playground that was right across from our campsite. Seemed quiet but it was raining one night and we didn't spend alot of time at the campground since we were visiting Dutch Wonderland. Next to Dutch Wonderland but it is a bit of a hike to the park from the campground so not as convenient as I expected to go back and forth. Lots of big rigs with tags from around the country. I had figured it would be a noisy campground full of little kids but it wasn't at all when we were there. No pool was the only drawback for us but we knew that coming in. read more

This campground was a great place to stay in our camper for the weekend. It is very accessible from the main drag (Route 30) with none of the noise! The campground is down over a small hill so you don't hear any of the traffic. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and comfortable. Staff were on hand every morning to clean and restock. We did not have any children with us, but we saw many children riding their bikes and playing on the playground. The nights we stayed (Friday night and Saturday night) a local Amish family brought their horse & buggy around with lots of homemade treats for sale. Our experience was a great one and the nightly rates were not bad at all. We will be sure to stay again the next time we are in Lancaster, PA! read more
