While visiting the area, I wanted to learn more about the Amish community but felt uncomfortable visiting an actual farm/home. (Just feel as though I would be intruding in some way.) This was a nice option for me, as it is a home formerly owned by an Amish family, now a museum. The tour of the home was interesting and I always like a nice little petting zoo. Bring change money so you can buy feed from the dispensers to feed the animals if that's something that might interest you.

I'm writing this from the perspective of a middle aged person taking the bus tour by myself. I walked in on a weekday afternoon. Only 4 others on the bus, so there was a ton of room. Our tour guide (Gary?) was very friendly and super knowledgeable. The whole trip including a stop at an Amish owned shop took about an hour and thirty minutes. Since there weren't many people on the bus, I was able to pepper our guide with questions. I learned a lot in a small amount of time. The market we stopped at had a lot of food and craft items - all very affordable. I would have bought dinner rolls or a fruit pie if I had a good way of bringing it back. After the tour, I took about 30 minutes to visit the grounds. Not too much to see but worth a quick walk around - restroom stop, some animals, blacksmith area, a few buggies, farm tools, and gift shops. All in all, I really enjoyed the visit and hearing about the Amish community. Would I bring my family? Probably not. I have two younger kids that would not be able to sit through the bus tour.

There's Something Amish Privately owned educational tour and farm that focuses on the endless fascination around the local Amish population. They feature three tour options: (A) bus tour ($25-18); (B) self-guided tour that includes a 25min guided presentation ($12-7); and a (C) combo tour of the two above ($32-$18). We chose option B, as sitting in a small enclosed space with a bunch of strangers isn't exactly our jam these days, but you do you, Boo. The Good: *The lady who gave us the 25-minute guided tour was terrific and very knowledgeable. Be sure to have questions ready because she was more than willing to help answer. We even chatted her up well-after the tour was over. *Bring quarters--or get change at the register--to feed the barn animals. *Gift shop is pretty fantastic. Full of lots of great food, trinkets, and souvenirs, with a lot of them being Amish-produced wares. *We felt like it was a good value for $12 to just casually stroll around, pet/feed the animals, and just enjoy a nice relaxing walk around the place. The Meh: *Self-guided portion inside the schoolhouse and such could have more info inside them. The Ugly: *A lot of the animals on-site here are rescues; so they may not look like they're in the best shape, but they all appear to be well-cared for, as all the stalls and barns were fairly emmaculate. TLDR: Great low-key place to learn about the Amish, kill a few hours and grab some goodies/souvenirs.

PROS: this was truly amazing. The farm, schoolhouse, the living quarters, the wagon section, and even the tour were all amazing. The majority of the staff was nice to us and prices were reasonable CONS: the close early at 4pm and the blonde girl that was feeding the animals hay wasn't too nice to me. I wasn't a fan of that at all OVERALL: amazing place to go to and I highly recommend getting either a living quarters tour or a bus tour of the town

We had a wonderful visit to The Amish Village while visiting for a long weekend! While the woman at the front desk selling the tickets was a bit snarky, our tour guide Mike was wonderful! We did the basic $13 tour of the Amish house, which was a great 25min introduction to basic Amish life. The two gift shops on site had a great selection of local products for a fair price. We loved visiting the farm animals! A lot of other reviews mention how the animals look sad, yet there are signs explaining that some animals had certain ailments that were being treated be veterinarians. Two of the goats ran right up to us - they were happy to be pet! Overall, I recommend visiting The Amish visit if you want an introduction to everyday Amish living!

Isn't he cute?!

We were a little confused about the different tickets and when we asked, we were told the $27 ticket included the bus tour and the farm. It sounded like the house was also included but it wouldn't be guided. After we left the building we passed the house and were told that our ticket didn't include the house. It would be $8 more. We ended up walking around the farm which was really cool. They have animals you can feed, buggies you can sit in, a covered bridge and a really neat schoolhouse. A few other buildings have local snacks, crafts and souvenirs you can buy. The bus tour was great! Our guide was very knowledgeable and honest. Our only complaint was it sounded like we were going to get to spend time talking directly to an Amish family and seeing their farm. We did get to see some Amish people but they were just ringing up customers from the bus tour. They had some cute stuff and lots of Amish food items. Overall definitely worth it.

I was visiting Pennsylvania with my family and my aunt and uncle took us on an Amish Village tour. I believe the bus tour lasts about an hour or so. It was super interesting to learn about the Amish and their lifestyle. I think the tour was my favorite part of my visit to Pennsylvania. It was so informative and it felt like I was on a school field trip. We got to see buggies, one-room schoolhouses, farms, and a few of their businesses. Our tour guide was awesome and provided us with all kinds of interesting facts. They took us to an Amish-owned local business where you can buy their homemade jams, baked goods and some arts and crafts. I got a whoppie pie which I had no idea beforehand was an Amish creation. I also got a homemade potholder which I thought was really special. I highly recommend going on the tour if you're visiting the Lancaster/Philadelphia area!

The creamery farm that the tour stopped by

I went on the premium package tour. It began with a house tour. The tour guide led us through the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and basement area. She showed us the clothing and clothing styles they wore and the reasoning behind their style choices. She showed us their traditional beds and the handmade quilts that were displayed in each of the bedrooms. After the house tour, we went on a tour bus ride showcasing the backroads of Lancaster. The driver showed us the farmlands and schools. The bus made a stop at an Amish-owned store and an Amish-owned creamery farm where we could purchase handmade ice cream and root beer. Once back at the Amish village, we walked around the grounds, schoolhouse, and outbuildings on our own. I got to pet goats, look at peacocks, chickens, and roosters that roamed the property.

This photo explains the different types of tours. We did the house tour only.

Loved this place! We were in town for a wedding with my son and had a few free hours. I took my 11 year old son, this was his first experience in learning about the Amish and their way of life. The house tour which was lead by a Mennonite woman who explained life in a typical Amish home was very informative and interesting as we went from room to room. She was extremely gracious and answered everyone's questions. When the tour of the home ended there were some animals you can visit, pet and feed. As you walked through the mock village there were plenty of photo ops with buggies that you can climb in, a school house with desks you can it at, and a barn with the different types of farming equipment. They have two great gift shops with plenty of great items with varied price points, everything from homemade soaps and jarred goods to toys for kids.

We went on the Amish bus tour. I wasn't sure what to expect but we caught the 3:45pm and it turned dark by the time we got back so it felt rushed and uncomfortable to yell out questions. Best to grab a seat by the window and close to the front of the bus to follow the tour, but expect to turn left and right like you're watching a tennis match. Be sure to spend some time on the Amish village grounds before the bus tour.

Small quiet little place with a touch of history. There isn't a lot to cover and you should be done in a couple of hours including all the pics you need. It is worth visiting once though to get to know the history of the Amish and how amazing their lifestyle is. Even though the replica village is pretty small, it is beautiful and on a good day, you should get some good pics. There is a small tour of a replica house in the beginning. You can then roam around the village which has some farm animals and carts etc.

During the bus tour.

We had scheduled a tour for 11:00am and arrived promptly at 10:15am in time for the training. Brian was very attentive and assisted both of us with care. We had a relatively small tour circle, as Pennsylvania was expecting a rain storm. We got seated to the scooters right away and we're in a scoot coupe. We paid a total of $226 for a 3 hr coupe tour - which stands a bit pricey. This included the tour, $20 coverage for the coupe, and taxes. Pre coverage & taxes it is about $189. I believe the price of the single scooter stood at about $89 without coverage + taxes. Honestly a bit pricey, but worth to pay every now and then. We began the day by going over the controls of the coupe, which very were easy to follow. Then we took a test drive and went onto the road. Throughout the tour we had made about 4 stops, where we visited Amish farms, and got to sample some treats. We were able to purchase soft pretzels, ice cream, and popcorn. During the stops Brian was very diligent in making sure everyone was comfortable and had enough time to fully enjoy the farms. He was very genuine and sparked up lots of good conversations. During the drive, Brian took initiative in creating both a safe & lively experience. We went all around the fields of the Amish county, and even through some forest areas. The coupes were so-so to drive. The wheel was a bit hard to maneuver, as it slipped from the hands and was hard to keep straight when accelerating. However, it was nice to feel the breeze and the coupe was able to go very fast no problem. Overall we didn't see as much Amish life and animals as we wanted to, but we still got a fair share and got the idea. However, the experience of the tour was significantly enhanced due to Brian's positivity. When scheduling a tour, ask if Brian will be present. If the answer is yes, you will have a great experience!

Lovely perfect ride. Do the Mountain View's tour! And don't leave without buying some Amish cheese.read more

Then I found Turkey Hill Ice cream Experience only 30min away from Lancaster, and decided to visit. We bought the double scoop experience (comes with ice cream test lab) and obviously that was the highlight of the place! The test lab is about 45min experience and the whole thing with self-guided tour takes about 1hr 30min to 2 hours depending how crowded it is. The visit was fun and of course my 5-year-old daughter had a great time eating tons of ice cream!

Admission prices are reasonable, and who doesnt love unlimited samples of iced tea, and lemonade, icecream on a hot day. Vistors have a choice between one scoop, two scoop, or three scoop attraction. I choose one scoop; hilights of my visit- learning history of Turkey Hill, process of icecream being made, creating a virtual icecream flavor, watching the production , live from interactive camera in one of the exhibits. Be sure to take the few moments, to watch the introduction video. My favorite ice cream sample flavors were Graham Slam & Blueberry Lemon Pound Cake. An attraction must, well visiting Lancaster, PA. My recommendation would be too sell a few more flavors that you offer , with unlimited tastings. My favorite was orange icedtea.
