One of the best things to do as a family in Lancaster County is to go to The Turkey Hill Experience to experience the famous ice cream and iced tea/lemonade brand that started out as a family operation in the area. Tickets aren't crazy expensive. It was just over $16 for my adult ticket. It gave me access to the museum, which is really the second floor. In one small space is a museum about Turkey Hill's history, how ice cream is made, etc. It's very interactive with an area to make your own ice cream flavor, commercial, and more. The ice cream sampling area is great. They give you healthy scoops. There's also an area to try their iced tea and lemonade and learn how it's made. The bottom level is a giant gift shop with toys, clothes, and more. There's a large parking lot out front.
What a cool place to check out and learn about Turkey Hill ice cream, ice tea, and lemonade! And there were unlimited samples of the ice cream and ice tea too! My kids had a blast, and I had lots of fun too! My only advice would be to go early, as it gets crowded as the day goes on.
This was a fun few hours. We explored the museum and took some pictures. We didn't realize in the tasting area that you could ask for multiple scoops. The woman scooping mine gave me the tiniest scoop. I was kind of disappointed. He got a full cup. Later when we found out we could get more we each only asked for one scoop and got more but the workers were not friendly at all. We also had the coupons for the free pint each and they only honored one. The make your own ice cream was so much fun! Lots of options. The major complaint there was no lids. I didn't want to eat mine there so I was forced to throw most of it out and I really wanted it. I brought cooler bags with ice in it. It would be interesting if they did an 18+ or 21+ day or night. The kids made it super hard to hear at the make your own.
Visted on the 4th of July, perfect tourist attraction for locals and all ages. Even being solo for the experience, with families and kids was relaxing, and pleasent. Admission prices are reasonable, and who doesnt love unlimited samples of iced tea, and lemonade, icecream on a hot day. Vistors have a choice between one scoop, two scoop, or three scoop attraction. I choose one scoop; hilights of my visit- learning history of Turkey Hill, process of icecream being made, creating a virtual icecream flavor, watching the production , live from interactive camera in one of the exhibits. Be sure to take the few moments, to watch the introduction video. My favorite ice cream sample flavors were Graham Slam & Blueberry Lemon Pound Cake. An attraction must, well visiting Lancaster, PA. My recommendation would be too sell a few more flavors that you offer , with unlimited tastings. My favorite was orange icedtea.
Turkey Hill, a local convenience store staple in Central Pennsylvania, brought life back to a vacant historic building built in 1889 as a silk mill in 2011 as the Turkey Hill Experience. The experience is a separate entity from the convenience stores. The fun experience is not just about learning the history of Turkey Hill, founded in 1967 by Charles and Emerson Frey, but also about having an interactive opportunity to taste the products manufactured by Turkey Hill, mainly the creamy ice cream flavors and an extensive selection of iced tea. You can purchase your admission tickets online ahead of time. There is plenty of parking, and seniors are offered discounts. The Turkey Hill Experience is a great day out for summer campers, visiting grandchildren, or on a family day trip during the summer. Adults will enjoy it, too. Lots of staff around to answer questions and direct you.
I did the one scoop experience and that was perfect for my young kids! We had a blast just bouncing around the self guided tour, taking samples of the tea and ice cream, and playing all the games. Love that it was self guided and everything was so kid oriented. I have been on many food tours and usually it's just informational and you can't touch or do much. This was so hands on, paced however you make it, and as much ice cream and tea as you can handle. If my kids were a little older, I'm sure I would have done the 2 or 3 scoop option in which you make your own teas and ice creams. I highly recommend checking this out.
This is great! I would definitely return. Parking was perfect. We had no issue with parking. The cost of the tickets was very responsible especially since you can sample beverages and ice cream. When you walk in it's pretty easy to navigate. It was all things Turkey Hill, and the gift shop had so many things to check out and purchase. The ice cream sampling was a nice treat. They had so many flavors to choose from. There were also many different areas for both children and adults to explore. It was never super crowded while walking around inside. My family opted to participate in the tea discovery tasting. The tea discovery tasting experience was my favorite. They really did a great job putting that together and having it prepared. Overall this is a pretty cool place to visit. I highly encourage you to visit. A perfect rainy day activity.
Cute little place! I love that they give you free tasting of ice cream with the admission price. My kids loved learning about the process of making ice cream and going back to try the different flavors. They got fun little trinkets from the gift shop on the way out too!
Saw this place all over TikTok and knew that I had to stop in for the experience and unlimited tea and ice cream sampling. The experience is very much geared towards children, which was a bit disappointing, but the tastings were great. The pomegranate lemonade stole the show in the tea section, which has about 8 self-serve beverages you can try over and over again. The ice cream sampling was insane, with 10 or so flavors to choose from, receiving one scoop at a time. My only downside to this is it just seemed so wasteful, as I'd rather have received less each time than feeling guilty throwing out ice cream so I could go and taste another flavor, only to repeat again. If you're an adult, unless you plan on spending hours trying and digesting ice cream, I don't recommend it but if you have children, definitely stop in!
Well we thought this would be a good place to take our kids and spend at least an hour at the place. But this experience left us with a lot to be desired. It took us about and hour and half from suburbs of Philadelphia. We did stop half way to get a bite to eat. We got there and took the one scope pass thinking there might be a lot to do in a 17k sq feet facility. They have two main features one is where you can taste some of their ice teas and lemonades and the other all you eat ice cream which is being served by the most unenthusiastic employees! Something seemed off as this was a weekend and not much seems to be going on within the facility. It was not empty but lacked a vibe. The store on the first floor was filled with odd things that represented Turkey Hill brand. The idea seemed good but the execution on the whole experience left bad taste! Anyway I would skip this attraction until something changes drastically.
This place is great for ice cream lovers with children. The building is a little cramped when you enter. You will enter straight into the gift shop area where you can also purchase tickets to the classrooms where you will be able to create your own ice cream. This by far was the best experience of the whole trip. You will enter a room full of flavors, topping and so much more. My only advice is don't swing for the double or triple scoop of ice cream unless you have a major sweet tooth. If you are traveling with kids they will most likely end you throwing it away after overloading it with toppings. Not to worry because in the upstairs museum style area, there is more free samples of a majority of their flavors. My favorite happened to be the monster cookie. There's also an area where the kids can play and there is a slide available as well as the area for photos. The souvenirs are pretty expensive so be cautious. One really cool feature is that you can build your own ice cream on their computer with the ticket you purchased and you have a chance to order it online with the barcode and they will ship it to your. Overall, this is a great place to visit if it's on your bucket list or you just happen to be in the area.
This was a really fun experience! For $14, my friends and I were each able to explore the Turkey Hill creation process and learn about what goes into making their superb products. We got unlimited free samples of teas and lemonades, and iced cream. The tea flavors were peach, orange (my personal favorite), diet, diet mango green, and sweet regular. The lemonade flavors were pomegranate, kiwi strawberry, and diet. These samples made our trip here well worth it - I really enjoyed the teas and lemonades! The iced cream flavors were limited and the samples were so large that we were too full to try multiple flavors. I was disappointed that we could not try more than the limited 12 flavors that they had available. Employees were friendly and helpful. Super cool environment with a film. We got to make our own turkey hill commercial as well! Lastly, there were fun photo ops that made fun memories.
As with almost any museum, you can hurry your way through and "be done" in a matter of minutes, or take your time to enjoy each section, and spend hours! My family and I loved this place. We opted for the Taste Lab add-on, and were definitely glad we did. However, without the TasteLab, this would also be a great value and fun way to spend the day. There are a lot of interactive exhibits, things to see, games to play, and videos to watch. There is also unlimited (free/included) iced tea and ice cream! You can go up to the ice cream counter for a scoop or two of the many flavors available, eat it, then go back for more -- as many times as you'd like! There are also iced tea dispensers with varieties of iced tea and lemonade with stacks of small cups which are also freely available to visitors. You can also create some digital mementos which are accessible via the internet. I am very glad we visited this cool place. We had a lot of fun, and learned a LOT about Turkey Hill as well as ice cream and iced tea in general.
Every once in a while you drive past a place so many times that it almost becomes part of the scenery. That was the Turkey Hill Experience for me. I'd driven past it countless times over the last few years but either didn't have enough time to stop or couldn't convince anyone else to stop with me. During my Lancaster Adventure Day, though, all of that changed. I purchased a Single Scoop ticket online ahead of time for $16.75 and reserved the very first time slot of the day at 10am. I figured a late-summer Thursday morning would be the sweet spot, and it turned out to be a great decision. It was busy enough that the place felt lively but not so crowded that I had to wait for every exhibit. Parking was plentiful, and I somehow managed to snag a spot right in front of the GIANT cow out front. Honestly, my day was already off to a fantastic start! The only hiccup of the visit came during check-in. Even though I'd already purchased my ticket online, I still had to wait in the same line as everyone buying gift shop items, purchasing admission and asking questions. Since there were only a two employees working both the registers and admissions, the line moved a little slower than I expected. If I could change one thing, it would be creating a separate express check-in line for folks who already have tickets. Once I finally made it inside, though, everything became easy peasy! The exhibits are completely self-guided, so you can wander at your own pace learning how Turkey Hill makes its ice cream and iced tea while playing with interactive displays along the way. One of my favorite parts was creating my own virtual ice cream flavor, complete with custom packaging. I also wanted to film my own Turkey Hill commercial, but those stations stayed busy the entire time I was there, so that'll have to wait until another visit. Naturally, I made a beeline for the tea sampling station. As someone who appreciates sugar-free options, I was thrilled to find both Zero Sugar Sweet Tea and Zero Sugar Fruit Punch available to sample. Both were fantastic! Then it was time for the part we'd all been waiting for...unlimited ice cream samples. One thing I really appreciated is that they weren't tiny little "blink and it's gone" samples. You picked two flavors, and they served actual scoops in a bowl. For an attraction centered around ice cream, that felt exactly right. My only tiny complaint? Wooden popsicle sticks instead of spoons. They definitely got the job done, but they made eating melting ice cream a little more awkward than it needed to be. Still...free and unlimited ice cream? I'm not about to complain too loudly! I spent about an hour wandering through the exhibits, playing with the interactive displays and enjoying the air conditioning on a hot August morning before making one final stop in the gift shop. Prices there were about what you'd expect for a tourist attraction, but there were plenty of fun souvenirs if you're looking to bring a little Turkey Hill home with you. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend visiting the Turkey Hill Experience at least once. I don't know that it's somewhere I'd return over and over again, but it was a fun, interactive way to spend an hour learning something new, eating entirely acceptable quantities of free ice cream and escaping the August heat. That sounds like a pretty successful adventure day to me! read more
Turkey Hill Experience was a fun stop for our family! We visited with three kids, and everyone found something to enjoy. The interactive exhibits were engaging, and the kids loved learning how ice cream is made and creating their own virtual flavors. The highlight was definitely sampling the different ice cream flavors and making our own ice cream creations. read more

We had an absolute blast at the Turkey Hill experience. The place is really great for adult and kids alike. The free samples are awesome, and they had a great variety of iced teas, lemonades, and ice creams available. We also did the make your own ice cream in the lab and that was a fun experience. Parking was easy and we would def recommend! read more
Turkey Hill isn't a recognizable ice cream and tea brand where I live, but I thought it'd be neat to check this place out while I was in Lancaster visiting. Thinking it was an ice cream factory tour of some sort, I went to check it out and learned it was a super kiddie experience. It's honestly best for families with kids. In the ice cream tasting room you can get unlimited amount of ice cream scoops to try. I didn't know because the guy who scooped my ice cream gave me a huge portion of the one flavor I asked. Then I saw others repeatedly going back up to the counter to get multiple small scoops to sample. I ended up only trying their mint chip. The tea samplers is self-served and you can get as much as you'd like. The classic lemonade is probably the best one. The overall general experience is quite short as the place isn't huge. read more
Such a cool place to spend the day with family. We went right after Christmas and enjoyed the different Christmas trees that were creatively decorated all over the place. Our kids of ages ranging from 6 to 24 all enjoyed it. We chose to purchase the Taste Lab and each made our own flavor icecream. Honestly, it was more than enough Icecream for one person, but the historical explanation and hands on experience made it more fun. They also offer sample icecream which would've been more than enough for me in my opinion. So much to do and see and would encourage families to check it out. read more
I went solo as soon as they opened. I recommend this EARLY as a solo traveler because the families with the little kids showed up around 1030/11 and it became enough for me to leave. This is something I would do once if you have ever eaten a turkey hill product.. you can read some history, drink a bunch of lemonade or tea, and also eat cups and cups of icecream. The lemon blueberry icecream was phenomenal. Nothing better than unlimited icecream read more
Visited on a Saturday afternoon and booked the taste lab experience also. Fun place to spend a few hours, delicious samples of teas and interactive exhibits. Cons, a lot of the electronic items didn't seem to be working well. I think the history and upstairs could have more. I also think it was entirely too expensive for what it is. During the experience, a full pint of ice cream for 1 person is a lot and they're very strict on every person needing a ticket and the spacing inside. It felt very rushed, 2 min to add flavors, 2 min for mixins - if you're trying to do yours and assist someone else. read more
Calling all families and ice cream lovers! The turkey hill experience is one of the best interactive museums I've visit in a long time. Not only do you learn some pretty cool facts about ice cream, you get to create and eat it too. My son and I came during his spring break and we had an amazing time. You can easily spend about two hours here and not get bored. The ice tea tasting was interesting and the unlimited ice cream tasting was exciting. read more
I loved the Turkey Hill Experience! We were engaged from the time we walked in to the time we left. The experience included the history of Turkey Hill, create your own flavor/packaging, along with Turkey Hill tea and ice cream samples. Turkey Hill represents the history of the family business within the wall displays, interactive sensory items and furniture. It was nice to see photo props throughout. We definitely took a number of pictures with the provided props. I had a number of favorite parts during the experience. 1) The tea and lemonade samples (the peach tea is hitting). 2) Everyone receives a paper Turkey Hill hat. 3) Ice cream sampling 4) Picture props All of the staff members that I encountered were friendly and had a sense of humor. I especially enjoyed that! The older gentleman in the ice cream sampling section was so helpful and even grabbed extra chairs for my friend and I to sit together. He is a rockstar! read more

When passing through Pennsylvania, you need to make time for The Turkey Hill Experience! Admission is pretty reasonable and there's fun for the whole family. We didn't pay for the extra lab experiences because we didn't have enough time (arrived maybe an hour before closing). General admission gives you access to everything minus the labs that you pay extra for. We enjoyed the interactive things to do (though some were cheesy). My son enjoyed "making" ice cream by bringing empty gallon tubs labeled with pictures of the different ingredients on the conveyor belt. The best part was seeing it digitally transform into a mixture of fun flavors (or ridiculous ones)! There were also some interactive photo opportunities like a giant ice cream tub or cutouts where you can stick your head in. If you aren't into ice cream, they also have a tea station where you can sample all of their iced teas. Some were good, some not so good. There was some fun mixing flavors in their little cones to try too lol For the ice cream samples, they change the flavors once a month. I wasn't too impressed by the flavors when we went. The employees giving the samples were overly generous with the samples. By the end we were asking for SMALL samples, but somehow the flavors my son wanted were LARGER samples ;) On your way out (or when you arrive) they have a little freezer cookie dough sundaes. As if you weren't stuffed enough LOL The gift shop had some cute stuff too. My son was too cool for a souvenir t-shirt or ice cream themed PJ bottoms though. We got some cute souvenirs and the prices were somewhat reasonable! Hope you enjoy the experience if you are in the area. read more

Amanda, I sent you a direct message. I will fix this for you.
The best place to go in the area. Free samples of ice cream and iced tea. All kinds of interactive things to do with your children. Can't beat the price- I paid 10 dollars for my daughter and me and my partner were free since we are both Army Veterans. The one time we went, we paid a little extra money and built our own ice cream, which was really fun. We got to choose a base, then a flavor and got to pick through a bunch of toppings. We were already in the area going Hershey and this was a must to visit. Fyi the parking lot gets packed and you might have to park in the Burger King nearby- like we did. read more

We are glad you enjoyed your visits, Dana!
This is definitely one of those "family-friendly" places that you go to once with the kids to say you did it and then you move along. It definitely has those "tourist trap" vibes. The name almost makes you think you're going to see some ice cream being made or something along those lines. As others have also expressed, it's a little misleading or not entirely clear. This is somewhat of a curated children's play place/ hands on museum. Don't get me wrong, we had our fun, but we didn't waste time and got out of there as soon as our tasting experience was over. The tasting experience was cute. We learned a few things. We got to mix our own flavors into a chocolate or vanilla ice cream and eat it. That was fun. Would I do it again? Probably not. read more

How much are entrance fees for adults? Seniors?
Hi Robin! Adults ages 13-61 are $10.50, Seniors ages 62+ are $10.00, Juniors ages 4-12are $10.00 and ages 3 and under are free. The Taste Lab is an additional $8.95 for all ages and Tea Discovery is an additional $5.00.
Going through at a decent pace how long can one expect this tour takes? We talking 2 or 4 hours? Just a rough estimate would be helpful
We did not do the tea tasting experience, but we did everything else. I would say two hours, two and a half at most for everything. Including the gift shop! If I am recalling correctly, I believe the website gives some time parameters for the three…
Is it a parking lot or garage? I have a rather large truck so I just want to plan accordingly. Thank you! Also are strollers ok or should I wear my smaller child?
It's a parking lot! I recommend in carrying just for easier mobility, but strollers can be accommodated!
