If you only take one guided tour at Gettysburg- do this one!! It was AMAZING - an experience I'll…read morenever forget!! These guides are highly trained and specialized and insanely knowledgeable- we had excellent discussion and so much in depth learning about the battlefield as we trotted along. The carriage is Victorian style and very comfortable- and ours was pulled by two gorgeous Percheron mares, Kate and Trina - sisters!! They were so beautiful and so sweet! Sarah and Bogey (sp??) were our our drivers and they were so great to the horses and very skilled at handling anything that came up. Our guide was Chris and he was just incredible- I'd be shocked if there was anything he didn't know about Gettysburg lol!! Even his ancestors were part of the battle! Not only did he provide tons of info about the ins and outs of the battle, but he also dropped fun little pearls of trivia along the way - things like how the shapes of certain monument bases have different meanings and how the "avenues" were put in for tourists lol!! The guides have to pass a rigorous learning/testing regime to even be able to do the tours so you know they know their stuff! The tour is totally fun - but also treated with the utmost respect for the gravity of the subject - so many lives lost - such a tragic and heavy piece of history. I strongly urge anyone to take a guided tour on your visit - interacting with such knowledgeable guides really helps get a better understanding of the battle and the core issues etc. The tour starts in town at the Gettysburg Heritage Center - very easy to find and plenty of parking. They pick you up in the carriage right out front and off you go! The tour lasts around 2 hours and they let you interact with the horses afterwards if you want! Can't recommend it enough!!

The host of this tour, Truman was phenomenal. He has such a passion for history and Gettysburg that…read morereally stands out more than most guides. I believe if we had more people like him giving history tours the generations now would be more interested in learning. Well done sir! The carriage company pricing was fair, the carriage itself was beautiful, and the two ladies driving were very kind. Would definitely recommend!

Once again spent the Veterans Day holiday weekend with friends at our beloved Keystone Inn. (This…read moretime I stayed in the General Reynolds Room for the first time. I fully recommend the three-floor climb to walk off some calories from the delicious breakfasts!) Speaking of, innkeepers Carrie and Olivia took great care of us. We were even lucky enough to interact with Co-owner Christine Cambell who was also there for the weekend. (If she's there with you, pick her brain!!! She knows everything Gettysburg and is a most gracious hostess.) The property is very well thought out and appointed. While preserving lots of the look and feel of times gone by, it also affords guests with every modern convenience! Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a wonderful retreat in one of our nation's most historic cities. You won't regret it. A. Clyde

The Inn is an absolutely gorgeous building, beautifully furnished, and our room (The Basil Biggs…read moreRoom) had its own balcony and a luxurious king-sized bed and a sofa for sitting and reading. The location is good. The breakfasts were uneven: one outstanding, one pretty awful (a cold Egg McMuffin and cottage cheese?), and one so-so. But perhaps they had a new or temporary cook, because other reviewers did not seem to find this to be the case. We did not find a book in our room with information? Instructions on operating the thermostat would have been helpful, as it got quite cold the third night. Parking is very generous. All in all, we would return, as this was definitely the nicest of the three B&Bs in which I have stayed in Gettysburg.

Thanks to technology you can tour the museum from your home, but the experience of visiting the museum and the surrounding area first hand is worth it. I learned so much about the making of the trail and some of the Mount Rushmore figures of the AT. All the first edition iconic signs of the AT and items from some of those Mount Rushmore figures are on display and so awesome to see in person. I thought it was really cool to see the actual gear of some of the icons of the AT. I won't bore you with a description of what you can see because you can see that in the website. I will say, though, that at the time of this review there is a kids section that looks awesome and a third floor (actually the second floor) that looks like it is still in progress. There is also an area for researchers. My tips. Phone satellite and WiFi reception is sparse in the area. You may want to bring a map of the area, seriously. I didn't have satellite reception on my phone or GPS at the museum once i left the parking lot and just kept driving until I got reception. Had I not know a little bit about where I was heading I would have gotten lost. Actually, much of the rural area has very little reception so a hard copy of a map will be a life saver. The AT museum does have WiFi. There is a tiny convenience store near the museum. There are also trails nearby if you are in the mid for hiking. The whole museum is wheel chair accessible
