Amanda was amazing texting me my options and explaining that she could sell my spots and refund me. Even though it was 24 hours before our trip I was able to be refunded for my entire tour. I was so thankful and it just helped with me not being disappointed. On a side note- my new husband and I had been on this tour about a year ago and it was fantastic and why we wanted to go again with all my family. The tour is accompanied by a tour guide, using an earbud and receiver to talk about the battles and the different stages of the tour as you go along. They also have 2 additional employees that ride along to deal with any rowdy horses, to stop traffic, or really handle anything that comes up along the way. This is nice as I have only rode a horse once before, and it's helpful to have someone to assist if your horse doesn't want to listen (mine was actually pretty good). Wow what a fun experience!! You start at the stables here at the camp ground/barn area! You are on…read morethe union side of the battle field and ride to about to the middle! Due to there being 16 miles of riding trails you can't see it all. But you do see what the soldiers traversed though during the battle. You get to experience the battle field on horse back like they would have during the war. Terry and her team are very welcoming and super knowledgeable on the history of Gettysburg and the horses. You can tell the staff cares and loves all the horses that they work with. They knew all of their quirks and past history. All these horses are rescued and it is so amazing to have the opportunity to contribute to this organization and ride a horse who has been built up by this amazing caring team. I had the pleasure of riding Gus who is an ex Amish work horse and the gentlest giant. Terry is truly so kind, accommodating, and very educated about the history of the battlefield and her horses. Her story telling was great and I could picture everything happening as Terry was explaining it to us. Terry also gave us the confidence to mount and ride our horses through the trails and how to properly handle them. The views were amazing and we had a great view of the blue ridge mountains in sight. We also had the pleasure of a nice breeze brushing through the peaceful battlefields as we rode the very tidy and well kept trails. If I could do this everyday I would and I'm so thankful to Terry and her team for giving my sister and I this experience to always look back on and remember. We have been coming to this campground periodically for over 10 years. the bathrooms are very…read moreclean. However, the Wi-Fi is terrible at the sites deeper into the property. For what they charge to camp here placing some Wi-Fi boosters would improve the experience. During our last stay the campground lost water pressure. This was resolved within a couple of hours, but is we were leaving on this day it would have delayed us. Was always our first choice campground, but now might consider one of the others when we return to the area.

The RV neighbors had adorable lights set up and a cute garden. The staff was VERY nice, they have a cool little store with food/drinks/stuff to buy (including shot glasses from every state, interesting). The bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner and the bathroom stalls were a little bit on the small side, but it was nice enough. I'd definitely stay again, and the location is very convenient to downtown and the battlefield sites.

We had the privilege of joining Bill and Bonnie on one of their horse-drawn carriage rides around…read morethe farm. Their hospitality leading up to the ride was fantastic, the weather was a bit 'iffy' so we ended up pushing back to later in the afternoon. It was still a bit cold and overcast when we arrived and we ended up being the only couple to join them. Blankets were in the carriage waiting for us and we were greeted as soon as we pulled up, the ride was enjoyable and informative... we learned about the farm and a bit about the battle, both Bill and Bonnie were super friendly and it was a pleasure to meet them! After the ride was over we had the opportunity to go back to the barn and meet all the horses. We learned more about each of them and got to feed them carrots, absolutely worth the price and a ride we would definitely do again, hopefully under better weather next time!

These guides are highly trained and specialized and insanely knowledgeable- we had excellent discussion and so much in depth learning about the battlefield as we trotted along. The carriage is Victorian style and very comfortable- and ours was pulled by two gorgeous Percheron mares, Kate and Trina - sisters!! They were so beautiful and so sweet! Sarah and Bogey (sp??) were our our drivers and they were so great to the horses and very skilled at handling anything that came up. Our guide was Chris and he was just incredible- I'd be shocked if there was anything he didn't know about Gettysburg lol!! Even his ancestors were part of the battle! Not only did he provide tons of info about the ins and outs of the battle, but he also dropped fun little pearls of trivia along the way - things like how the shapes of certain monument bases have different meanings and how the "avenues" were put in for tourists lol!! The guides have to pass a rigorous learning/testing regime to even be able to do the tours so you know they know their stuff! The tour is totally fun - but also treated with the utmost respect for the gravity of the subject - so many lives lost - such a tragic and heavy piece of history. I strongly urge anyone to take a guided tour on your visit - interacting with such knowledgeable guides really helps get a better understanding of the battle and the core issues etc. The tour starts in town at the Gettysburg Heritage Center - very easy to find and plenty of parking. They pick you up in the carriage right out front and off you go! The tour lasts around 2 hours and they let you interact with the horses afterwards if you want! Can't recommend it enough!!

John is not only extraordinarily knowledgeable, but an outstanding guide as well. He was very responsive when I booked our tour and was at our meeting place on time and ready to go. His knowledge of the battlefield is unmatched, and he is an excellent communicator, one who genuinely cares about his clients' experience. Within the first few moments with John, you can also tell that he is a deeply kind person. His humility is evident, and he even manages to bring an appropriate sense of humor and irony to the tour--a challenging thing to do given the gravity of the subject. More importantly, he has a remarkable ability to bring the people, decisions, courage, and tragedy of Gettysburg to life. In every respect, John makes the experience both informative and deeply impactful. If you are scheduling a trip to Gettysburg, I wholeheartedly recommend John as your guide. It meant a great deal to me to be able to share Gettysburg with my family, and having John lead us made the experience even more meaningful. I like that she'll ask questions of us and that she may differ in opinions from the masses. I didn't always agree. like her take that Sickles "blunder" wasn't detrimental I'd enthusiastically suggest hiring Mary for a 10 hour tour, longer if you want. Let her know had sickles stayed in position, the 20th Maines bayonet charge not needed. It was highly risky.

I'd never been to Gettysburg before. So of course I jumped on Yelp to see what I could find in the…read moreway of bus tours. This is the first that came up. I checked out the website and was surprised how affordable the tour was. When we got there, Ed took us in and got us signed up. The tour lasted about 2.5 hours (close to three with the breaks). It was very informative and we hit all the highlights of the town and the battlefields. There is only maybe one or two stops where you can get out and take pictures....but you get familiar with the area so you can drive back through at your leisure and take all the photos you like wherever you choose. Would I recommend this tour company? Absolutely! There are also other ways to see Gettysburg (horseback, mini motorcycle/carts)....but a bus tour I think is the best way to go!
