We had saved our money and planned this trip for over a year. We booked the General Lee tour for 9…read moreof us and we were in full Civil War uniforms for the 150th Anniversary celebration. This day started out perfect but because of them having a young girl that did not cinch the saddles properly more then one if us ended up with loose saddles and my husbands saddles went completely over with him falling off and breaking his ribs. We ended up in the emergency room that night and the rest of the trip he was drugged up on Percocet's. 2 of the following days he stayed in bed all day at the bed and breakfast which was fabulous. When he fell off the lead just sat there and never got off his horse until 2 of our friends got off to help him up. A few of our friends have horses and saw that they were not cinched properly. My friend told him he should check them all so he finally did. Mine was loosed and the man behind me told me when we were riding so I kept leaning the other way to keep it straight. I was lucky he was paying attention. Another big detail. They said General Lee could not make it so they gave us a woman in a sleeveless tee that was totally out of place with what we were doing. My husband never got an apology, saying they would refund part of his money or our for not having General Lee or for getting hurt because of their carelessness. I emailed and asked for them to pay the emergency room bill but they would not. I asked for the name of their insurance company so I could contact them but they did not give it to me. This was well planned trip that all but 2 days were ruined because of them having someone that was not properly trained. The thousands of dollars that was wasted because my husband was hurt so bad was not the main problem. He is not a young man and this injury led to other health issues which started on this horse and ended with him in the hospital a few months later for 5 weeks. The entire story I am sure no one wants to hear but a simple apology would have been nice or offering to refund his money or pay for the emergency room bill. I would think long and hard before I used this place. There are some great ones in Gettysburg. I would suggest use one that you can trust to do it right and know that they have integrity and will help you if something goes wrong.

I've been to Gettysburg many times before and this is the first time I have done the horseback…read moretour. This is an AMAZING experience and it gives visitors a unique perspective of the battlefield in a way you would never get to experience it otherwise. There were only eight riders on the tour, all the horseback tour groups take the same basic route where the Confederates formed their battle lines and charged on the third day what has become known as "Pickett's Charge" Andie, our guide had two horse wranglers, John (leading the way) and Andie's daughter picking up the end. Andie sets the tone of the tour from the get go and she is a pistol, great personality and a strong command voice that can be heard from front to rear of the group. There's a horse wrangler at the front and rear of the column so you're never far away if you need help. The horses have ridden the trail so many times, it's automatic to them when the other horses move out. I would recommend the two-hour ride, it gives you the full-perspective of Pickett's Charge and why the Confederate leaders made certain command decisions on the third day of the battle. The one-hour and one-and-a-half hour tour's vary slightly but all begin and end at the same location. I'd recommend doing the morning ride so you don't have to beat the heat later in the day. When you plan your trip, Google the location of the McMillan Woods Youth Campground. It's located on an unmarked road but if your GPS allows you to plug in the GPS coordinates, it's: Latitude: 40.789 Longitude: -74.678 If not, make sure to drive slowly down West Confederate Avenue and it'll be on the right-hand side since it's a one-way only road from town. There's a big brown sign with white lettering that says McMillan Woods Youth Campground that's hard to miss. It is customary to tip your guide and wranglers at the end of the tour, there are three of them so plan accordingly.

If I could change anything, the rear trail guide was a little dramatic and was not happy with Levi the horse. Each time she yelled out, I would get lost in the story and would loose at least 5 minutes trying to catch up. May have just been she was having an off day, so I think only fair to rate how I felt overall about the ride.

It was hot and humid but the ride was mostly in shade. The horses were very well behaved, and my daughter absolutely loved it. Her horse was well behaved and gave no issues. My wife's horse kept eating (much like me), but still was gentle and easy going. This place is great for beginners as the horses are well behaved. You take a 15 minute tutorial in how to ride then off you go.

When we first enrolled our son at this daycare, we truly believed we had found a safe, caring, and…read morestructured environment for him. This daycare has a strong reputation at other locations, and in the beginning, things seemed promising. Unfortunately over time, this specific location became a complete nightmare for our family. Our son is 3 years old. Like any toddler, he loves to play, have fun, and be around other kids. He is loving, energetic & curious. Toddlers misbehave sometimes & that is normal. That is why classrooms are supposed to have structure, supervision & teachers who know how to redirect behavior appropriately. Instead once our son began copying another child's negative behavior, he was quickly labeled as "the bad kid." We repeatedly explained that he was being influenced by another student, but the situation was never handled properly. They also were aware & knew this!!!! We were told certain children could not be separated because one child's mother worked there as a teacher & had another child enrolled in a different classroom. Rather than correcting the environment or helping the children succeed, we were constantly being called to pick our son up early when no other parents were being called! We felt as though at this point our son was being targeted. Why continue to pay for him every week when he was spending less than an hour a day in school. We tried working with the director & offered suggestions that could help improve the situation, but our concerns were dismissed. We were repeatedly told adjustments would be made but nothing ever changed. We even had a behavioral therapist come out to the site and observe & assess our son! Nothing was wrong with him! Again a typical 3 year old following what everyone else was doing because of 1 or more specific classmates misbehaving. One of the most concerning parts was what we personally observed on the cameras. Multiple teachers were sitting down on their phones instead of actively supervising the children. We witnessed moments where children were not being properly attended to at all. At one point, our son eloped from the classroom & the assistant director was heard telling a teacher, "Run after him, this is your classroom." The fact that we even had to screenshot so many incidents says enough on its own. What truly pushed us over the edge were the serious safety concerns. An autistic child was reportedly left outside alone for around 10 minutes. Another child was also left alone on a separate occasion for another 10 minutes! How does that happen in a daycare setting? Who is doing headcounts? Why are children not being accounted for properly? These are not small mistakes. These are serious failures in supervision and safety. There also seems to be a major lack of structure & support within the facility itself. The teachers appear overwhelmed & unsupported, which ultimately affects the children. We even offered to volunteer our own time to help because we genuinely wanted things to improve. We were met with promises & nice words but no real action. Over time, we noticed a very high turnover rate not just with children leaving, but with teachers and administration as well. After withdrawing our son & researching other daycare options, we met former teachers from this location who immediately recognized us & asked what happened. Some directors from other facilities even had former students from this daycare enrolled with them. Hearing multiple people reassure us that we made the right decision to remove our son confirmed what we already felt in our hearts, our child was no longer safe there. At the end of the day this is simply our family's experience. Other families may have different experiences but we strongly encourage parents to do their research, ask questions, observe carefully, & trust their instincts. A daycare can have a great name but that does not guarantee every location operates the same way. Children deserve patience, protection, structure, & care. Parents deserve honesty & peace of mind. Unfortunately, we no longer found either here.

We've been part of this daycare community since their very first day open and I can't say enough…read morewonderful things about our experience having our daughter there daily. She's now 2 years old and absolutely loves going to school every day. From the minute we walk through the door, she's excited to see her teachers and friends, which says everything to me as a parent. The teachers, owners, and the rest of the staff are incredible--truly caring, attentive, and always going above and beyond to support her growth and happiness. She has learned so much during her time here, from social skills to early learning milestones, and it's been amazing to watch her confidence and curiosity grow. She's built friendships, and the parent community has been just as kind and welcoming. We've always felt supported and connected, and the environment is both nurturing and fun. From open house events to spirit weeks with different themes every day to toddler parades and "trunk or treats" - there have been so many fun activities for the kids and parents. I'm so grateful to have found a place that feels like a second home for her. If you're looking for a daycare where your child is safe, loved, given opportunities to learn, and treated like family, this is it. We looked at so many other schools in the area and this was far and beyond the best one we toured.
