Torturous Existence for a Cow. Imagine seeing a "Dairy Farm" in Lancaster County where there are NO COWS as far as the eye can see. Not only that, but there is NO GRASS either. That is because the cows have been reduced to machines that are forced fed and tortured to produce milk 3 times a day to please the profits of Kreider Farms. Horrible but Enlightening. I guess the one star rating depends on your belief system. Do you think cows have feelings? or do you think they are machines? if you think they have feelings and can enjoy sunshine and walking on the grass then don't take this tour. If you think that animals were put on this Earth to be the OBJECTS of humans, then do take the tour. What you will see if you care even a bit for animals is the torturous existence of an animal reduced to being a slave to its biology. From birth to death, they are tortured. The cows are not allowed to EVER go outside in the sun and walk on the grass. They are prohibited from ever EATING grass as a normal cow can. The ditzy tour guide said they are given a mixed "meal" of all kinds of crap. Everything except grass. Disgusting. 3 times a day they are forced, prodded and scared into entering the "carousel" a despicable device that milks them. When I was there on May 23rd one cow kept kicking the steel suckers off her udder because her nipples were red and swollen from having been milked two times already that day. the slave master worker proceeded to put the steel suckers back on three times and three times, she kicked it off then tried to kick the man but was unable to because a bar prevented it. its disgusting pure and simple. Finally, he decided to pull the cows tail to torture her because she would not allow the steel suckers on her teats. OMG well you know what? it is to the credit of Kreider farms that they SHOW US what the hell they do to these animals. God only knows the torture the cows experience in dairy farms where the public is prohibited from entering. When you see Kreider farms it is eerie. There are no cows peacefully walking around or sitting in the sun. They are all being held prisoner and captive in the building. The tour guide was insane too. She thought this was all funny. What an awesome time my friend and I had at Kreider farms! We walked into the welcome center and right away we were greeted by a wonderful man named Jeff! He was so nice and very knowledgeable about the farm,we hit it off right away! When the rest of the people arrived we got on a very nice bus and was again greeted by an other fantastic employee,Denise who was our bus driver. Jeff told us all about how the farm started and how the farm is doing today. He answered everyone's questions and even threw in a couple of jokes! The farm was remarkable and we even got to see a couple of newborn calfs! They were so cute! My friend and I learned so much about what it takes to run such a huge farm. Customer Service is excellent, we had to make a time change and one person was not able to go, Debora helped us with everything, she is awesome! We went on the tour this Saturday (10-11-19). The bus driver and the tour guide were excellent! When we went through the nursery barn, we witnessed a cow giving birth, the bus driver stopped to allow us to watch, the guide explained it may take a while and we would come back. Went back and got the chance to see mommy cleaning her baby and nudging her to stand, it was terrific! I'll be booking another tour soon to take the person that couldn't go and of course so I can go again, it was a wonderful experience! read more

This was an awesome tour for my grandchildren and I- (ages 5-7-9). Ada, our tour guide was phenomenal- she was so knowledgeable about the farm- loved her anecdotes- it was not a canned speech- she interacted with everyone- let the kids assist her- they had a blast. Also Jenny- our tour coach driver was very sweet and accommodating. And I never knew how much there was to a dairy farm! Very interesting operation- and to top off our great tour- we got to see a calf being born!!! My grandkids were over the mooooooon!!!! read more

This was a great tour for our 9-year old grandson - from the trolley ride around the beautiful countryside, to viewing the milking carousel in action, to climbing to the top of the silo. The list goes on and on! Ada, our tour guide, was fabulous and made everyone feel so welcomed. My only suggestion would be to provide a printed "Numbers Sheet" with the many, many fascinating numbers included in the description of the farm. Thanks! read more

We had a wonderful time. The guides were very knowledgeable and happily answered all the questions. They explained everything, and it was so fascinating. Beautiful farmlands kept meticulously clean.... The milking barn was so fascinating, I've never seen anything like it. The cows all seemed happy to be doing their jobs there..... My family had a lovely tour on Valentine's Day! Our guide took his time with us, and he was kind and knowledgeable. My daughter is 7 and enjoyed it. I know my family agrees, my favorite part was the milking merry go round. Delicious chocolate milk sample was the best! My family learned alot. We took a shuttle bus from our retirement community for the Kreider Farm tour. It was especially nice that the tour guide boarded our shuttle so our residents could remain in their seats. Also great that the entire tour took place from the bus, so those who are not strong walkers could remain on the bus while others could get off at times. Will return. read more

We had a great time on the farm. We have been telling our family and friends on the great experience we had. Our tour guide was great. He was very knowledgeable of the process of the farm. We enjoyed the tour and even though we live in a nearby town we learned so much about the history of the Kreider farm and the dairy business.
