My recent stay at Hershey Lodge had its highlights, but overall it could definitely use some updates to match the expectations of a resort-style experience. The rooms felt dated - particularly the bathroom, where the wallpaper was peeling and the bathtub showed its age. The overall décor could benefit from a refresh. Small touches would also make a difference; for example, swapping the chocolate bar welcome for liquid body wash instead of bar soap would feel more practical and modern. I stayed for a conference, and while the buffet food was decent, the desserts were the standout - especially the brownies, cookies, and flourless chocolate cake. Those were definitely a win. The waterpark was a lot of fun for the kids and a big highlight of the stay. That said, it would be great if both the waterpark and on-site restaurants had extended hours, especially on weekends, to better accommodate families. A few logistical frustrations stood out as well. The check-in line was extremely long, so be prepared to wait - it would be a huge improvement if they offered a virtual check-in option. Additionally, room service does not come during multi-day stays, which was disappointing. A simple refresh between days would go a long way in improving the guest experience. Overall, it's a pleasant place with family-friendly features, but it didn't quite live up to other resort experiences I've had. Our annual Memorial Day weekend private event by invitation only at the Hershey Lodge was a night to remember with our friends and the Club 21 community of professional African American men. The Hershey Lodge staff does an excellent job accommodating the nearly 250 people, starting with the cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, and dancing. Dear Yelp, I was very nervous about staying here for a family vacation after reading many of the reviews. We had stayed at the Hotel Hershey years ago and LOVED IT so I was unsure how the Lodge would hold up. We had 3 rooms and arrived on a Sunday. Check in time is 4pm. Rooms were ready at 3:48pm, 4:20pm and 5pm. I thought that was ridiculous. Rooms should be ready at the time promised. We stayed in the Hershey tower and the rooms were updated, nice and clean. Bathrooms can use updating but it wasn't a big deal. There was a mini fridge which I appreciated. We used the water park which was perfect for our needs and the outdoor pool was nice. Lines are long for the shuttle to the park but it moves fast. We enjoy the free tickets to the Hershey Gardens and Museum. Rooms weren't serviced. Ok I loved the Lodge before kids...I REALLY love it now that I have them. The people running Hershey clearly know what works for kids (and their parents). The indoor pool is large, including multiple fountains, water slides, and pools. And they have a decently sized arcade. Also the employees here deserve to be a shoutout for being some the most pleasant people on Earth. Disney has nothing on the people at Hershey. When you check in the front desk will give you a map, there is a QR code to download an app that will help you get around an survive the maze and you can get to your room and dining area. We chose to come up and visit because we had never been to Hersheypark before. Rooms were clean and most of the staff were very courteous, but a little disappointing overall. The arcades are full of claw machines that were simply money wasters. Watched some children blow through some serious money and win nothing. Must be good revenue, but the way kids flocked to them it didn't seem fair. With the restaurants serving alcohol in the main lobby, had several instances where people were out and intoxicated and vomiting in the elevator. My wife told the guy at the front desk and he appeared annoyed that someone would have let him know there was an issue. I'm all for people having fun, but get drunk in your room. We don't want to see your drunkenness, especially with all of the young kids around. Had one instance of loud children coming down the hallway late at night around midnight screaming and making a racket. They sounded really young. It persisted until someone called security. Overall, a great stay, but not so sure the price point was worth it. I think we will do something different next round. There are plenty of hotels in the area that I am sure we could have done better. read more

What a supreme disappointment. For over 400$ a night you'd expect more than a 2 star motel. The rooms are on par with a motel 8 and in major need of renovations. I concur with the smelly and moldy reviews before me. The outside pool is a joke, it's TINY and located next to the parking lot like a budget apartment complex. The pictures make the indoor water park look spectacular but in reality it's just kind of sad and quite small. It's more suited to the under 5 set. Not to mention it's really hot and humid so if you enjoy sitting in a green house, you may like it. I feel like I've been scammed quite honestly. I could have had the same if not better experience at a Hampton Inn for less than half the price. There's no value here. It's far away from the park. Let me start this with the fact that I'm not expecting anything other worldly in the middle of Pennsylvania. I know this is not an area of chic hotels and restaurants, but, when you have a $500 a night price tag; you better impress...especially in the middle of Pennsylvania. The lobby area is nice, it seems to be updated with a large fire place in the middle. The staff at the front desk were nice as well, but the wait was very long, about 25 minutes to check in what seemed to be 10 families. While my wife was waiting, my son and I walked around the hotel. While the front desk staff seemed to be on their game, several other employees walking through were not. We were either cut off or had to listen to several conversations with language that I certainly didn't want my five year old to hear. So, we went back to the front desk and waited. The good part about this hotel is that you can access the water park (not sure if it still should cost $500 but there's that). Our plan was to go to the room, change and head to the water park. The lodge has a motel feel to it. There are actually exterior entrances to rooms so maybe at one point it was a motel? If you're inside and walking through the corridors it is big, and long, and easy to get lost, so know where you are going. We got in our room and it was run down, clean, but run down and old looking. Once we were changed it was off to the water park. The water park is an indoor one which happened to be directly across from our room. Please note you do have to go outside to get to it, so in the winter it can be cold. There are several small slides, a few pools, a couple of large slides. There seemed to be enough employees keeping an eye on everyone. They also have a snack bar (with alcoholic beverages). At first glance it looks fine and for our five year old it was great. But as you start to look around you see the same run down appearance as the lodge. Much of the pool floors and other areas had large brown stains. It just feels old. I would not return, even for half price. There are far too many other options in the area to go here. For a kid, I'm sure it's great...but for the adults, not close. read more

Don't. Just don't. If you want your child disappointed and to spend a wild amount of money to be treated poorly that is what you'll get. We were a first time stay. Did the upgrades. Talked to the reservation specialists made ALL the plans. Got there and after 4pm still couldn't check in. All my 7 year old wanted to do was go to the park. By the time they would have checked us in it would be bed time. Sunday schedule? 2 family things at the lodge. Check out time 11am on the inky day we could do the indoor water park? We even stayed Monday to make sure he could enjoy it! Kid check in meh... guess how many chocolates, no characters. Lodge wasn't even decorated all fun for the holiday. We left. Went to the Hilton paid for the same time at less then 1/2 the cost of one night at the lodge. The shuttle back & forth is not worth the heartbreak of my child. Birthdays are hard enough for children who have been orphaned. Hershey Lodge had us all in tears! this the the least family friendly thing ever. Shame on you Hershey. I can't believe the audacity that the Hershey Lodge has, charging almost $500 a night for motel 6 quality rooms. They trick you out with the website, landscaping, and beautiful hotel lobby. However as soon as we got to our room, it was old, smelly, and disgusting. We started our day at the water park before our room was ready. So when we were able to check in, I immediately took my kids into the tub. There was hair EVERYWHERE in the bathroom, it looked like it wasn't cleaned at all. In addition, a piece of the tub fell off not even 1 min of me using it. I immediately called the front desk to explain the situation. The women who answered didn't say anything other than "I'll transfer you to housekeeping". When I spoke to housekeeping, she told me she would send engineering out. Never addressed how dirty the room was. Luckily we were only spending 1 night there (and honestly just considered driving home after the park). Let me end my review with, I would never ever in a million years stay here again, or recommend anyone I know to stay here. They have not updated these rooms in what looks like 30 years, which wouldn't be a problem if they were clean. However to have old rooms and they are disgusting, for that price? This place is way overpriced. The beds have plastic mattress pads like you use in a baby crib for bed wetters. Soooo gross. It makes me wonder why my beds are covered in plastic. What happened in them?? The plastic pad is covered by a thin flat sheet that keeps coming untucked and exposing the plastic. It sounds like a baby diaper under you. It also makes you sweat since it doesn't breathe. I will no longer be staying here. The prices are outrageous and the rooms are very dated. Stayed here in Dec 2025 with many family members for the advertised Christmas experience. Very expensive and not much included for the price. Water park is nice and rooms are fairly clean but rooms definitely need updating. Restaurants in the hotel have limited menus and very expensive. Bought tickets for Hershey Park which was a complete waste of money and complete rip off. Most rides were closed and if you wanted to participate in anything other than the rides, there was an added charge. Crazy, crazy expensive and def not worth the price. read more

It's just okay, we went on an off-time last year and it was wonderful but a lot of attractions and things were closed so it was a bit of a bummer. We went again during a peak weekend this year and it was very loud and crowded, but everything was open. Food was worse, notably so, than last year, but prices were higher. The rooms were worse as well, we stayed at the Reese's side last year and it was clean and nice, this year was the Hershey Tower and I will never stay there again, it was older, unclean, and poorly maintained. There wasn't a huge wait for things so that was good, but it was VERY CLEAR that the staff were overworked and overwhelmed due to cost cutting methods. Management is completely absent, nobody seems to be running the show on the floor just saying "do more with less" and then walking away. I think I will try it one more time, off peak again, to see if it's worth it and then if not, we will explore other types of places like this. I have attached pics of our room's bathroom, it was moldy, vents haven't been cleaned in YEARS, and bathtub had surface scum. I mean this is only what you can see, think about the mold you cannot see under the rugs or walls? I was sneezing and had a runny nose while I was in the room. Dear Hershey Lodge Team, I stayed at the Hershey Lodge for the first time this past weekend. Growing up, my family visited Hershey every year, but we could never afford to stay at the Lodge. This trip was especially meaningful because my sister recently had her first child, and we were excited to finally make that full-circle family visit and stay at what's considered the "cream of the crop" of Hershey accommodations. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. Upon arrival, our room had a strong odor of cigarette smoke and mold. The bathroom toilet seat and lid had a pink, tar-like residue that we had to clean ourselves with baby wipes. The overall condition of the room and hallways appeared unkept and dated. The wallpaper was peeling off of our walls, you wouldn't know you were staying at a Hershey park property unless you saw one of the characters in the lobby. We were also disappointed to find that most restaurants and bars followed the park schedule, leaving only the coffee shop open during non park hours. This made it nearly impossible to enjoy any on-site dining or drinks without sacrificing park time. Additionally, staff members were unable to provide clear information about the shuttles, which did not appear to run on the promised 30-minute schedule. Getting to and from the park often required calling Ubers. And we wasted so much time our first day because staff told us shuttles picked up in one area which ended up being false, then we waited again in the right areas for 40 minutes without a single shuttle. No one could give us information on where they would pick you up at the park to bring you back either. Half the reason we stayed here was because we thought it was a close and convenient ride to and from the park that was included in our package which was expensive. This turned out to be a nightmare... we ended up using Ubers both ways day 1 and having to pay for preferred parking for 120$ on 2 cars the next day because of how difficult and frustrating it became. You shouldn't advertise easy and quick shuttle service if it isn't true. I do want to acknowledge a positive, Grace, Andrew, Dan, and Maleek at the Bear Den Restaurant were exceptionally kind and helpful. They truly went above and beyond to assist us with shuttle information and general tips. However, despite their efforts, the overall experience was extremely disappointing given the price and reputation of the Lodge. For the cost of our stay, the value and services we were promised were far below expectations. Based on this experience, I would not consider returning to the Hershey Lodge and would advise others visiting Hershey to look into alternative accommodations such as nearby hotels or Airbnbs, which would likely offer a more comfortable stay. Stayed here for two nights for a conference held on site. I really went back and forth whether to give this place two stars or three stars. I'll break down the good, bad, and the ugly below: The good: - Location - Conveniently located to all the main attractions in the area - Easy check in - Plus you get a full sized Hershey bar! - The Lobby - plain and simple the lobby is gorgeous and smells like chocolate - On property restaurants - I appreciated the convenience of restaurants on site - Shuttle service - Super friendly guest services staff - Gift shop and ice cream parlor on site... sure they're gimmicky, but they're nice additions - On site indoor/outdoor swimming options - I didn't use any of these facilities but I liked that they were available The Bad - Parking - I consider myself lucky that where I parked wasn't too far from the entrance I used to get to my room, but when this place is full, I'm certain parking would be a nightmare - Layout - this place is quite literally a maze. Granted, there is (much needed) signage everywhere, but I definitely used all the signage to guide me... and I got a little confused once. - Thin walls - Yes the walls are thin, and yes there's A LOT of kids - Dated Room decor - The room itself was fine, but the decor is definitely dated - Beds - I found the bed to be quite firm. Not totally uncomfortable, but absolutely firm. The Ugly - Price - I'm sorry but this hotel is simply NOT worth the price. Even with all the conveniences this place offers, the rates are outrageous. However, tourists will pay, so they're going to keep the rates high. - No daily housekeeping - Don't expect housekeeping during your stay. They'll only replace towels as you need them. - Bathroom - the bathroom in my room was a hot mess. The door was clearly painted multiple times and had rusty hinges. When opening the door, it comes within an inch or two of the toilet. - Shower - the grout between the shower tiles is NOT sealed. When that grout is wet, it transfers. - Dusty Room - I found noticeable dust on the night stand and desk lamp. Inexcusable considering the the price. read more

I am a fan of the Hershey collection of hotels! I was at the Hershey Lodge because I had a work conference. I usually stay at the Hotel Hershey..but because my organization booked the ballrooms at the Hershey Lodge- I decided to stay at the Lodge! The lodger is adequate, but is a step down from the Hershey Hotel! It gave me 'motel vibes'? The room was clean and spacious, but i didn't feel it had that special touch of next level..it left me feeling like....Meh I stayed (2) nights! The hotel is centrally located near the Tanger Shopping Outlet; Breweries and other local eateries! I would recommend if you want to be in the center of all the chocolate goodness that Hershey, PA has to offer! read more

The weak part if this hotel is the room. The lobby is spacious and beautiful. The restaurants and bars are nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. I wish I remembered the name of the woman at the check in desk (blond, in her thirties and at the desk on 12/12/24 and then again on 12/14.). She is an asset to the establishment. The room we stayed at had no closet! A little cubby to hang shirts up but too small to even hang a coat! One chair and no table in the room. Keeps this place from being a 5 star hotel. I've been to the Hershey Lodge and to the Hotel Hershey before. I have to say this was the most disappointing visit for my family. It seems like they've done absolutely no upkeep in the hotel. As you walk through the hallways, you can't help but notice odors- is it diapers or body odor, could it be spoiled milk? It's really disgusting. Then the rooms- the same decorations from 10+ years ago. There are no fans in the bathroom and get ready to hear your neighbor's conversation because the walls are paper thin. I recently visited a hotel that had sound machines because it was located on a main street. Hershey should take note! Also upsetting was having to call maintenance 3 times for a backed up tub/shower. It was actually backed up when we checked in and happened repeatedly during our short, two-night stay. While they offered to move us on the 2nd night, we had three rooms for our party on that floor and felt like it was such a hassle to have to move. We've been staying at the Hershey Lodge for a 3 night stay with two days in the park for 11 years. In this time I feel like the quality of the lodge has slipped while the prices continue to steadily increase. The rooms have been updated once in that time. The rooms are only cleaned upon request which is annoying for the price you are paying per night. I did call down for towels and they were brought up promptly. Year after year the problem comes down to confusion with charges on our bill. We are a large party but have separate rooms booked with separate Credit Cards on file, but year after year there are issues with charges on our rooms. For example checking out today I had a charge for the "free breakfast" for an odd amount of 34.07, when I questioned it I do not kid you we waited 1 HOUR for help, the front desk manager popped his head out at one point never came to help Us and then seemed to purposely disappear. Whoever was the lodge manager on 7/23 AM was absolutely useless. You pay a lot for your rooms here but the quality and hospitality is just lacking. It would also be nice if they at least had some stuff for teens, the basketball courts (which have lights) are locked at like 7pm. The inside pool in summer months should stay open until 10 in my opinion. read more

For 20 years, I've wanted to stay at the Hershey Lodge, and I finally was able to Thanks to my sister last night. For the $650/night price, which was steep to begin with, I wouldn't recommend the Lodge if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway. THE ENTIRE TIME... screaming kids, kids running the halls, parents playing with their kids in the hall and banging on the door and yelling through hotel room doors into late hours of the night. When next door used their shower, it was so loud through the walls. Parking sucks! I had to wait 20 minutes just to get a parking space in our side of the building. The rooms are very hard to get to. We got frustrated so many times. The rooms are smaller than they look in pictures, but they have great plug outlet options on both sides of the bed. Best part was how comfy the bed was. I definitely loved the bed-sized roll pillow against my neck. The water in our room had a gas smell. The Bears Den had great food and friendly staff. All of the staff members in the lodge were a pleasure to talk to and more than happy to help. In conclusion... Definitely not worth the price. read more

Pools close to early and open to late for a family friendly resort. Also the indoor water park will close if a rainstorm is near. They claim it's for safety in case of lighting. Beds have a weird plastic sheet and no fitted sheet making them uncomfortable. The place is huge. Make sure you are specific if you want to be closer to the lobby. We had to walk what seemed like a mile to the elevator and lobby. Lobby is nice and there are three good restaurants inside the resort. Hotel staff are friendly. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend conference. Check in was painless. Considering the number of people checking in, the line moved rather quickly. The lobby has a warm and rustic ski lodge vibe with a large fireplace and plenty of seating. We sat in the lobby several times and enjoyed our coffee from the Cocoa Beanery. Our room was spacious and clean. The double vanities were very convenient. As a person who is always cold, I appreciated how well the heat worked in the room. Bed and pillows were exceedingly comfortable. They have several restaurants in the hotel ranging from casual to upscale. As I mentioned before, there is a coffee and sweet shop which has fantastic ice cream. The fitness center has more than enough equipment to get a great workout. Everything is in good working condition. We took a quick peek at the pool. It looked clean and well staffed. The staff was wonderful; friendly and very efficient. My only issue was the bed had a plastic covering over the mattress and the sheets kept sliding off in the night and I wound up touching plastic with my skin. Was not comfortable at all. And there were hairs on the back of the toilet. Rooms could use some updating. But we had a really nice stay overall. Also the bar could be open later than 11 on a weekend night. I stayed here last year while attending a conference and had asked for just one additional hour past checkout so I could return to my room after presenting my research. I explained the situation clearly--that I would be checking out shortly after and just needed time to change out of my suit before driving home. Unfortunately, the staff was firm about not allowing the extra time, despite the circumstances. We booked a stay at Hershey Lodge for two nights for Halloween. When we arrived we were not given the accommodation that we booked online. We were offered a room with two queen beds for our family of 5 instead of a deluxe queen room with a pull-out. We were told essentially "take it or leave it" since they have no premium queen rooms available. We were then told that our room would not be ready until 4:00p check in time despite all the other families that we were with being able to check in around 2:00p-3:00p. At 4:00p (check in time) we were then told that our room would not be ready for "possibly quite some time. Not until maybe 5:30p". We already checked in and paid for the entire stay and also have to go to Walmart for a blow up mattress due to being given the wrong accommodation. Long overdue review from May 2024... Bought the package that included the arcade cards. After a 20 minute wait to check-in, was not given the arcade cards. Called a few hours later to ask how to get the cards and was told I needed to come back to the front desk. Went back to the front desk and had to wait another 20 minutes to talk to a clerk. Then had to wait another 15 minutes for him to figure it out. When I mentioned that the arcade cards were not given to me at check-in and it's been a combined hour for me to get the cards, he said "well, this is a new program so we're figuring it out too." No apology. No offer to make it right. Bathroom was not very clean, saw visible hair and dirt in tub. When my husband asked if we could get housekeeping to come for a room refresh the next day (cleaning bathroom, making beds, replacing towels, toiletries), was told "We don't do that, even on request." We spent $2500 for 3 nights--even taking out the cost of the park tickets and the arcade cards, that is more than $600/night. For that price point, not only should housekeeping come on a daily basis, but they should definitely come on request. read more

Beautiful resort. Plenty of dining options and the ability to buy your tickets as part of a package is very nice. Highly recommend, especially if you have kids. read more
