The lodge itself is beautiful and so are the grounds. For the price I had a nice size room. They even give you a complimentary bar of chocolate upon check in. The room was nice, my only complaints were the bathroom needs updated odd area for the door, toilet, and shower. The other was the bed, it was a king size and soft enough the only issue was the mattress cover no fitted sheet but plastic under 2 top sheets.

Don't be fooled by the website.

What a supreme disappointment. For over 400$ a night you'd expect more than a 2 star motel. The rooms are on par with a motel 8 and in major need of renovations. I concur with the smelly and moldy reviews before me. The outside pool is a joke, it's TINY and located next to the parking lot like a budget apartment complex. The pictures make the indoor water park look spectacular but in reality it's just kind of sad and quite small. It's more suited to the under 5 set. Not to mention it's really hot and humid so if you enjoy sitting in a green house, you may like it. I feel like I've been scammed quite honestly. I could have had the same if not better experience at a Hampton Inn for less than half the price. There's no value here. It's far away from the park. The "amenities" are vastly inflated on the website. And the hotel itself is kinda gross. Shame on Hershey...

Outdated bathrooms, I haven't seen tile like this hotels in 20 years.

Let me start this with the fact that I'm not expecting anything other worldly in the middle of Pennsylvania. I know this is not an area of chic hotels and restaurants, but, when you have a $500 a night price tag; you better impress...especially in the middle of Pennsylvania. The lobby area is nice, it seems to be updated with a large fire place in the middle. The staff at the front desk were nice as well, but the wait was very long, about 25 minutes to check in what seemed to be 10 families. While my wife was waiting, my son and I walked around the hotel. While the front desk staff seemed to be on their game, several other employees walking through were not. We were either cut off or had to listen to several conversations with language that I certainly didn't want my five year old to hear. So, we went back to the front desk and waited. The good part about this hotel is that you can access the water park (not sure if it still should cost $500 but there's that). Our plan was to go to the room, change and head to the water park. The lodge has a motel feel to it. There are actually exterior entrances to rooms so maybe at one point it was a motel? If you're inside and walking through the corridors it is big, and long, and easy to get lost, so know where you are going. We got in our room and it was run down, clean, but run down and old looking. Once we were changed it was off to the water park. The water park is an indoor one which happened to be directly across from our room. Please note you do have to go outside to get to it, so in the winter it can be cold. There are several small slides, a few pools, a couple of large slides. There seemed to be enough employees keeping an eye on everyone. They also have a snack bar (with alcoholic beverages). At first glance it looks fine and for our five year old it was great. But as you start to look around you see the same run down appearance as the lodge. Much of the pool floors and other areas had large brown stains. It just feels old. I would not return, even for half price. There are far too many other options in the area to go here. For a kid, I'm sure it's great...but for the adults, not close.

Had a conference here and it was an enjoyable experience! The lobby was really pretty and a cozy place to hang out. Our room was spacious and the beds/pillows were very comfortable! Such a nice tough to give a bar of chocolate per guest at check in. My biggest concern was the bathrooms. They were outdated and had a moldy smell. Great place for a family trip or if you're visiting Hershey park

Entrance. Before the crap service.

Don't. Just don't. If you want your child disappointed and to spend a wild amount of money to be treated poorly that is what you'll get. We were a first time stay. Did the upgrades. Talked to the reservation specialists made ALL the plans. Got there and after 4pm still couldn't check in. All my 7 year old wanted to do was go to the park. By the time they would have checked us in it would be bed time. Sunday schedule? 2 family things at the lodge. Check out time 11am on the inky day we could do the indoor water park? We even stayed Monday to make sure he could enjoy it! Kid check in meh... guess how many chocolates, no characters. Lodge wasn't even decorated all fun for the holiday. We left. Went to the Hilton paid for the same time at less then 1/2 the cost of one night at the lodge. The shuttle back & forth is not worth the heartbreak of my child. Birthdays are hard enough for children who have been orphaned. Hershey Lodge had us all in tears! this the the least family friendly thing ever. Shame on you Hershey. And don't even bother with the manager. He's literally a limp handshake and unsympathetic ear.

Piece of tub fallen off the drain

I can't believe the audacity that the Hershey Lodge has, charging almost $500 a night for motel 6 quality rooms. They trick you out with the website, landscaping, and beautiful hotel lobby. However as soon as we got to our room, it was old, smelly, and disgusting. We started our day at the water park before our room was ready. So when we were able to check in, I immediately took my kids into the tub. There was hair EVERYWHERE in the bathroom, it looked like it wasn't cleaned at all. In addition, a piece of the tub fell off not even 1 min of me using it. I immediately called the front desk to explain the situation. The women who answered didn't say anything other than "I'll transfer you to housekeeping". When I spoke to housekeeping, she told me she would send engineering out. Never addressed how dirty the room was. Luckily we were only spending 1 night there (and honestly just considered driving home after the park). Let me end my review with, I would never ever in a million years stay here again, or recommend anyone I know to stay here. They have not updated these rooms in what looks like 30 years, which wouldn't be a problem if they were clean. However to have old rooms and they are disgusting, for that price? I really don't know how they are in business.

Love being able to come here when family is in town. The water park is such a bonus especially for young kids. You honesty could spend the whole weekend here and not have to leave! Only complaint I have can be a little pricey but definitely worth splurging for!

Not great. It's like a motel. You park right outside your door. Mostly nice but misleading pics on the web site made it seem like a hotel not a motel. I did not enjoy hearing people unload their cars, honk the horn and talk right outside my door. The room was clean and bed wasn't bad. But I prefer not opening to a parking lot.

Kiss wallpaper. Note stains.

This place is way overpriced. The beds have plastic mattress pads like you use in a baby crib for bed wetters. Soooo gross. It makes me wonder why my beds are covered in plastic. What happened in them?? The plastic pad is covered by a thin flat sheet that keeps coming untucked and exposing the plastic. It sounds like a baby diaper under you. It also makes you sweat since it doesn't breathe. I will no longer be staying here. The prices are outrageous and the rooms are very dated. Popcorn ceilings with stains, really old cheap tile on the walls in the bathroom. Stains on the covers. Not good.

It's just okay, we went on an off-time last year and it was wonderful but a lot of attractions and things were closed so it was a bit of a bummer. We went again during a peak weekend this year and it was very loud and crowded, but everything was open. Food was worse, notably so, than last year, but prices were higher. The rooms were worse as well, we stayed at the Reese's side last year and it was clean and nice, this year was the Hershey Tower and I will never stay there again, it was older, unclean, and poorly maintained. There wasn't a huge wait for things so that was good, but it was VERY CLEAR that the staff were overworked and overwhelmed due to cost cutting methods. Management is completely absent, nobody seems to be running the show on the floor just saying "do more with less" and then walking away. I think I will try it one more time, off peak again, to see if it's worth it and then if not, we will explore other types of places like this. I have attached pics of our room's bathroom, it was moldy, vents haven't been cleaned in YEARS, and bathtub had surface scum. I mean this is only what you can see, think about the mold you cannot see under the rugs or walls? Oh the water park is actually the highlight, there are ample lifeguards doing their jobs and they are managed well, so it was a positive experience in the well managed pool area.

Did I read somewhere you'll find chocolate kisses everywhere on your room upon entering? We didn't have 1?

They give you Hershey bars when you check in. All restaurants give you hershey kisses when they give you the bill.

Can you use the pool before 4pm if you are checking in that day?

Good afternoon Kelly S. Yes! You may access our indoor pool complex - Hershey's Water Works - as early as 8 a.m. (complex opening time) on your check-in day.

I just did the "express check in" .... does it make a difference? I saw some people talk about the lines. ? ** Answer is yes. Hubby bypassed about 20 people in line :)

How is the indoor pool and slides for a 23/24 year old?

I wouldn't think it would be very entertaining for that age, except maybe 1 or 2 times. The waterworks was actually smaller than I expected.

I would like to preface this review with the fact that I have been in service my entire life,…read moreincluding managing a hotel myself. I currently work for American Airlines at the Charlotte Douglas Airport. The front desk agent Matt - caused me to walk away from a prepaid reservation and pay to stay at the Hilton Hershey property instead. Which was amazing, by the way! I had a reservation for 6/15, and had called the week before to reconfirm an early check in. After working my 8-9-hour shift, I drove over 7 hours straight to Hershey PA to take my elderly mother to a concert at Hershey Stadium. Once arriving at the Fairfield, Matt brusquely replied that I did not have a reservation. I explained to him that a Marriott Vacation Club Member had gifted me the room and it was registered in my name as well as theirs. He then "found it" and told me there would be no early check in although I had confirmed, and I would have to wait until after 4pm. Mind you it is 11am, and at this point I have been awake well over 24 hours and am feeling faint. He was so nasty, I took a step back to take a calming breath. He was then so rude to the next lady (in front of her children as well) that she exclaimed "is this how you treat Marriott Bonvoy Members? WOW!" I knew I was unable to reason with this individual, and I was too exhausted to escalate the issue. So, I simply left and took my business elsewhere. I called today after some thought on the matter, hoping to give grace, and it was Matt who answered the phone. He was disdainful, snide, would not provide me with the GM's name or email and disconnected the call. I called Marriott Bonvoy myself and got the information I needed. Matt is ABSOLUTELY NOT the person Guests should EVER see and interact with upon entering a Marriott property. A welcoming smile and spirit of kindness is necessary in our industry. Matt has none of these qualities. Like I relayed to Corporate, Matt is most definitely a cause of loss of revenue for this location. On a more positive note, Zira and Melisa at The Hampton Inn Hershey saved the day! Highly recommend!!!

Night 1, my tv kept having issues - it kept freezing, rebooting, and sometimes just wouldn't even turn on. The remote was working, and I unplugged/replugged the tv several times. Finally called the front desk and asked if there was an issue with the service and they said no. I asked for them to send someone to take a look and they said the tech was gone for the day but they could switch my room if I wanted. I was already unpacked and getting ready for bed, so didn't want to repack everything after the last time I had to do this at another Courtyard - they said they would send someone in the morning. The morning came and I was working from the hotel room for a few hours as the conference didn't start till lunch time. No one came to fix the tv. When I was leaving for the conference, I stopped at the front desk and they said they'd said someone right away. Night 2 I come back and the tv still isn't working. I call the front desk again. They have no idea if anyone came to try to fix it, but again said the tech had left for the day and they could switch my room. I'm really getting irritated at this point, and I said no again please just send someone in the morning. They never sent someone. The tv was never fixed my whole stay. They mentioned giving me a discount on the room but I had prepaid through a third party website so they couldn't. Did offer me free breakfast and stuff from the market though. In addition, housekeeping came to my room every day but it seems all they did was make the bed and empty the trash. They didn't replenish any of the coffee supplies so I had to go to the front desk to get more. Took some dirty towels left on the floor for pickup but not all of them. Also, there was no lotion in the bathroom? Used the gym one morning and the water bubbler in the gym room was completely empty so had to get water from the lobby. Overall a very frustrating hotel experience.

With the exception of someone I spoke to on the phone who was incredibly rude, the morning before we checked in when I called to make sure we could stay in the same room for both of our nights (split reservation)... the entire staff was pleasant and helpful. But I really have to give major kudos and credit to the breakfast staff! Suffice it to say, breakfast time gets BUSY around 8:00/9:00 on a weekend morning. They were on top of keeping everything stocked and navigating around lines of people (seriously the waffle line was like 10 people deep). One gentleman in particular (and I wish I had gotten his name) was super helpful after a kid stuck his whole hand into a bowl of chocolate chips so we needed to ask for a replacement. The hotel shows signs of age and nothing is perfect (the shower head was SO HIGH I had to stand on tiptoes to just adjust the stream) but overall it was a good stay. The bed was comfortable... maybe a little firm... but I was THRILLED to find they do do use the crappy down pillows that every other Hilton Brand seems to use. The ones that support your head for about 30 seconds. So this made for a much more restful night of sleep. And of course it is pet friendly with a convenient doggie station on a decent size grassy area that spans the back of the hotel. I WOULD recommend that housekeeping pay a bit more attention to what toiletries they hang in the shower (LOVE LOVE the full size ones that not only cut down on waste but also mean our whole family of four isn't trying to make one tiny bottle of Neutrogena last). The reason I say that is because we didn't have shampoo in our shower. We had shower gel, conditioner, and LOTION. Haha. We're Diamond members so have stayed in a few Hilton properties.
