The process was smooth. Parking was plenty. Not too far from DC area. Probably the most convenient skiing resort to get to for DC folks. Less than 2 hrs and most of it is highway. We went on March 13th and many trails had a lot of ice spots. Probably since it was towards the end of the season and they didn't care much. Nevertheless, had fun time at the resort.

Whitetail resort is a great option if you are desperate for some close by skiing. It is also a great option if you have never seen ski resort out West and Europe. I went yesterday and paid $100 day pass. On the positive side, there is a "free" shuttle that takes you from the far away parking to the ski resort entrance and save you uncomfortable walk in your ski boots in mud. People working there were trained well and trying their best to ease your trip. The weather was 37F and trails made of artificial snow were not prepared well - you can go from icy patch to a foot of snow on the trail within seconds. Night skiing was nice because the snow hardens and if good edges you can have good time but lighting was on some areas very spotty. I wonder if a technical person have ever measured candle light values on the trail to verify adequacy of the trail lighting. We witnessed a kid injuring himself on the lift and lift (quad) and trail was closed for two hours so the injured kid can be evacuated and lift be inspected, One's wondering if those inspections were done properly prior to the operation. Also wondering about trail preparation schedule-can trails be prepared during the long day as there were bad between noon and 4. Food was available-not so great small cup of chili was $10. At the end, I wish I can say that you get what you pay for. You get a local ski resort with sub par ski conditions in a not-helping-weather conditions. Like in the Babe movie the summary is - that'll do Whitetail Resort.

Ours was a last minute trip here but definitely recommend purchasing tickets online along with rentals if possible. We showed up around 2 30 on a Saturday. It was packed and we were at the ticket window and we were told that they didn't have any rentals available. We did find out that if you're ONLY renting skis and poles, they did have those so we lucked out. The resort was packed! Some problems with the lines though as it was very unorganized and tickets weren't being scanned. Took forever to get on the lift and get to the top. It was a fairly cold day so the conditions weren't great either. Icy and unsmooth. We come here cause it's fairly close to us but I think I prefer Ski Liberty over Whitetail. Most of the trails were open as well.

Do you like skiing. Are you someone that lives for the adrenaline rush. The riskier the better!? Then WhiteTail is NOT for you. It's a nice little resort for families and beginners that enjoy the outdoors with few amenities beyond, slope, food and drink. Nestled in the middle of bubble-fudge no where is a nice little hideout for people that want to learn... and beyond that... nada. Cashless transactions.... And friendly people make the location amenable for locals ... but the slopes aren't huge and awe inspiring... What it's does it does well... but expert skiers will not be impressed. I gave it a 3 because of the food options. With few options, Food is firmly in the MIDDLE of "bad" and "myeh" so don't come hungry. Artificial snow is produced on cold days, so if it's been moderately warm for more than 3 days before your trip, don't bother. All in all... had fun, great place to learn, not a great place for professionals

Lines. A hell of a lot of lines.

If you love lines, this place does a great job at creating them. Line at the bathroom (have a couple thousand coming? We only put two to three stalls in every bathroom...makes it homey), line at tickets, line for food, 4 HOUR line at rentals. Want to sit somewhere and relax? Nope only seating for 100 people when thousands show up. Want to wait in an hour line just to get on the slowest lift on the planet to go up 500 ft? Whitetail has it covered. If you love extensive long lines, understaffed amenities, and Vail lining their pockets with your $70 lift ticket...this is the place for you! Amazingly bad. Must forget.

Our group had an absolute blast snow-tubing on a Saturday night. This place is so convenient from the DMV and the 1.5-hour drive is a welcome change in scenery from the frenetic pace of our lives. The prices are a bit steep on the weekend - $32 per person - but it really is worth it if you hit the slopes at least 10 times. They do have food available inside when you register, but it looked pretty sketchy. We might have even gone a dozen times solo, in pairs, or with four tubes roped together. Each time was different and there are two super icy and fast lanes for the daredevils. This place reminded me why I loved physics in high school; every variation of the group placement resulted in different effects. So, if I sat on the back tube it would change the physics of the whole group going down the hill compared to if I sat in the front. It is a surprisingly-great core workout; I had to use my muscles to keep my legs sticking up in a way that they did not hit the sides or the other people in my group. I would also encourage folks to go tubing even after sunset; hell, it is open to 10 or 11 and the tracks are lighted to make it one hell of a family event or an awesome date. A couple of things to note: 1. Tickets are sold in two-hour blocks, so if you get there too close to let's say 3 p.m, you may have to wait till FOUR p.m. 2. The conveyor belt that carries you and your tube can break down, as happened to us. On the other hand, pulling a tube behind you uphill is an amazing workout.

I went to the resort yesterday and I am absolutely disappointed. I went couple of times but never seen it's bad like this Half of the the trail that hardly has snow on, understanding that's how the weather become. The still open trails are so icy, ice after ice after ice. And people are keep falling on them. I am not sure if I was going ski or skating. There is barely trail option to safely ski on. We don't pay less to ski at the end of the season and resort are responsible to at least make it safe to ski on. And today is absolutely a bad day because they just give up on make it better for end of the season. lol

If you're looking for a ski resort to go tubing, skiing or snowboarding, then this is a pretty good place for beginners and people who are more advanced. They do offer group lessons if you are just starting out and need instruction. It's best to buy your ski lift ticket online (as that seals your reservation for that day). The earlier you buy it the better. There are smaller slopes for beginners near the rental building. They have a building where you can get some food and warm drinks near the entrance Because of COVID, I would recommend getting here EARLY if you need rentals. I can't stress that enough. In order to clean the rental equipment properly and not have too many people inside it takes longer. I waited for two hours in the rental line. After I got my equipment I had an amazing time!!

Not to far for a good time on the mountain. Brought a group and kids in a mentoring program here for a day off from school trip. It's only about a hours drive from the Baltimore area so it's a reasonable distance. If you preorder your passes and fill out the wavier forms in advance it will expedite the process. I only when to the snow tubing side so that's all I can base this review on. They have a large parking area with gavel in the lots. When you enter in they have a small store and snack bar so you don't have to pack a lunch. There are a lot of kids on any gIven day to expect crowds. When you hit the slope you will have a short walk from the main building to a shack with the time tubes. You will then take a a conveyer belt up to the top. They have plenty of staff members who are very friendly that keep the line running smoothly. We come back every year for this annual trip. We will be coming back again next year.

On the mountain!

Whitetail was surprisingly not that busy when I went. Only issue was that I only needed a boot rental but they updated their rules and I had to rent out skis as well even though I did not need them since I already brought skis with me. Overall, it was fun aside from the rental issue and the lack of snow.

If there were more stars, this would qualify. This place is absolutely magical. I am not a camper…read morein any sense of the word. When the opportunity came to spend a girls weekend away we opted for Glamping as an adventure to explore and enjoy time away to relax and unwind. I am so glad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone and enjoyed a fantastic two nights at this absolutely stunning and wonderful place. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how truly amazing this place is. It has to be experienced. Before we were even leaving we were already planning our next visit. This will easily become an annual event. No doubt. This retreat would also be a terrific place for bachelor/bachelorette parties, girls weekends, guys weekends, birthday celebrations, baby moons, honeymoons, book clubs... absolutely any reason to escape into the arms of nature where you are surrounded by the beauty of the area and amazing amenities. Regardless of how many people are in your group, this place has an option that is not only affordable but also guaranteed to give a fantastic experience to all guests in your group. There are cabins that fit 12 people (their own shower/bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, fire pit with chairs, grill), yurts (personal fire pit, covered picnic table, outdoor chairs, grill), and a main lodge room (keyless secured entry, sleeps 8, connected to communal kitchenette, showers, restrooms, lounge space, grills, fire pit). See their socials for the options. There's also a terrific map that will show you where all the amenities are located in relation to the sleeping options. Regardless of which one you pick, you will have your own personal space along with clean and well stocked communal areas. We decided on a yurt. This was on a platform with parking on both sides if needed, our own personal covered picnic table, personal grill, supply of kindling/firewood, outdoor seating, two queen beds, two benches and small table, air conditioning, two electric fans, fairy lights inside, and a small lamp. We were absolutely blown away by the amount of details that were taken in this space to make our stay comfortable and welcoming. Upon entering there's a box of necessities that were on the bed. This was full of flash lights, lighters, fire starters, fly swatter, guest book, pen, bug spray, walker talkie (in case of emergency), and some chargers. The air was already on so the untidy was comfortable when we arrived. This is a self check in and out retreat where they communicate via text and email alerting you to your accommodations. Each bed had linens provided, 2 pillows, comforters, and additional blankets at the bottom if needed. There were 16 available outlets for your things and two USB plugs. There are throw rugs and a two large entrances on either side of the yurt (both with a screen and a closed panel). There are 3 zippered windows that you can open and the top of the yurt has clear panels that you can see out of if wanted. We kept the 'blinds' up to make it cooler since this was August. It's nice to have the option to open the cloth 'blinds' from the top of the yurt so you can see the stars through the plastic panels. We kept the windows closed as we had the air and the two fans running (one oscillating) which really made the yurt comfortable even in the summer heat. When the sun went down, it was even cooler. There's a mat out front for wiping feet and a plastic mat with sides in the inside so you can take off your shoes to keep your yurt clear of dirt. There's also a metal trash can with a lid. Everything you need is here inside. It is absolutely adorable!!! The fairy lights just add to the vibe at night. The yurts do not have a kitchen or a bathroom. You have to walk to the communal area. There are two - one in the main lodge for yurts 1-6 and another smaller bath house/kitchenette for yurts 7-9. Yurts 1-3 are in the meadow. Yurts 4-6 are in a wooded area. Yurts 7-9 are near the cabins and have a much shorter walk to the smaller amenities than the others. If you need to use the restroom frequently throughout the evening, I would suggest yurt 7 as it is just a few feet from the communal bathroom. The communal spaces have been well thought out and are so incredibly clean! The main lodge had a large fridge stocked with their Meade that you can purchase, a full size fridge to throw your food in, a freezer full of ice for purchase, a sink, a coffee pot, microwave, hot pot for tea, seating area, and trash cans. There's also paper plates, bowls, utensils for you to use. They also have water bottle fillet station throughout the property and item for sale. There's snacks, Mac and cheese, ice, charcoal, gloves, hats, water bottles, shirts, etc throughout the property for sale. Simply use the QR to make the purchase. Super convenient. The main lodge had a massage room, shower room with 4 private showers where towels are provided (washrags are not so bring one - the shower has shampoo,

Unfortunately, we found the visit quite underwhelming. The space itself is very basic, with limited exhibits and minimal interactivity. Much of what was on display felt dated and sparse, and it did not hold our attention for long. For a destination marketed as a hands-on discovery center, we expected a more immersive and thoughtfully curated experience. While this may be suitable for a very brief stop or for locals looking for something close by, it did not feel worth the drive for us as visitors. Overall, the experience did not align with the expectations set by the website, and we left feeling disappointed.

So my first impression when I walked in was that it seem kind of dated but admission was seven bucks for adults and $10 for kids which is quite affordable. So I think he would spend maybe one or two hours here and then plan out other activities in Hagerstown which I had bookmarked. Eight hours, one missed nap and three diaper changes later we were still here. I think I massively underestimated this place as educational entertainment for my toddler. This is a two floor STEAM Museum built in an old bank, which is so cool. First floor is focused on dinosaurs, space, planes, trains, the Titanic and baseball. Second floor has aquariums, jungle themed rooms, play grocery store, a nursing room, and A GIANT arts and art room at the end of the hallway. They have dinosaur room where they have an exhibit on Maryland Dinosaurs (there wasn't an old bay crabasaurus), a place to dig for fossils and lots of books. This is where my toddler kept running back to. The old bank vault is in this room. Most likely you kids will spend a lot of time by the transportation exhibits (with a Cessna you can climb into), train tracks to build or the arts room where there are easels set up to paint. I would count on spending the whole day here if you kids are under 8 or so. The museum does close at 4pm and there is ample street parking nearby.
