TLDR: while I have mixed feelings about Roundhead, I would go back. Love the Peruvian flair and that this is the first Latino owned brewery in Mass. The day I went there was a band playing and there was special ticketed event that forced us to leave (no big deal as we had more than enough time). The space is huge, however compartmentalized, and there's plenty of outdoor seating. Because of its warehouse size and no sound proofing when the band was playing it was incredibly loud with tons of reverberation. The mezzanine is adults only which is helpful as it's right next door to an indoor sports facility and there is no shortage of kids here. Pizza was decent, cooked correctly and really hit the spot after a couple of beers. They utilize an "order at the bar and get a text when your food is ready" system. You then go up to the open air kitchen area and get your food. The beers are serviceable by today's standards with the porter being my favorite. The lagers were also pretty good. Like most folks on Yelp I was surprised by the mandatory 20% gratuity (almost $2 per beer). As someone that ordinarily tips 20-25% in a sit down restaurant I'm a little confused as to how in a place where you order at the counter, pick up your own food and bus your own table the 20% is earned? These situations usually get 10% gratuity from me since I'm doing more than 50% of the work. read more

Round head brewery hits the small, craft brewery location and dynamic on the head. It's a converted mill/factory with lots of bricks, open space and tall windows from the neighborhoods industrial past. Serving a decent variety of brews and offering pizza and other light fare for food makes this a perfect hangout spot and they show a strong dedication to the community. Staff were friendly overall. The misses though would be missing the arugula on the pizza and nothing was said if they ran out or an offered alternative. The beer is also pricy for what it is.... They have good concepts but the taste or execution falls flat for the two I tried. It was also$10 or more per beer (after beer and automatic 20% tip on all food and drink), and these were 13 oz pours were the full size. read more

Great food in a casual environment and even better beers that are twists on classic styles with flavors that are distinct. The place is tucked away in an industrial area. Nice open indoor space with plenty of seating including outdoor seating and seating above the bar. Order food and drinks up at the bar. Highly recommended for something different. A Latin owned brewery the only one in town. The first one in the state. 3 lagers and a red ale for tasting. The beer is very good. I liked the Peruvian style lagers. A large space divided in half with an upstairs. We were served promptly at 1210pm. There was a line behind us. The food on offer is very good and a level above typical brewery food. Empanadas and pizzas they have proper pizza ovens here. All was tasty and prepared for you. There were families with children of all ages at the place. As part of a city park series, Roundhead set up an adorable trailer with 4 rotating brews daily for 2 weekends in East Boston. One lager was smooth and perfect for a summer day. A few days later we enjoyed Pompenando Juntos IPA, less hoppy and really tasty. Enjoyed the story of the owner sourcing Peruvian-based ingredients for the brews. We look forward to going to their physical location and hope they wind up at Reel House locations. read more

Had a work event here last week, and it was a blast. We had it on a Tuesday for a private event and everyone was speaking high praise. I worked with Craig, who is one of the owners and he was super easy to work with and very responsive. We ordered a variety of pizzas, salads, and deserts. The pizzas were very good and they also had gluten free and vegan options available. The venue is awesome! Huge area in the brewery as well as an outdoor area. Good for kids not adults. Went there with a few friends. Too many unsupervised kids running around. Not an adult brewery. Place for parents who want to drink and are allowed to let their kids run wild. We found the food service unsanitary. I like this place. I have never been when it's been super crowded, but that's likely because I'm seeking out slower times of day. Their beer is, generally, quite good but honestly the highlight here that sets Roundhead apart is the chicha (aka Purple Wisdom). It's a non-alcoholic drink and it's SO delightful. The corn pizza was surprisingly delicious and while I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, I will definitely get it when I return. This is a good place to come chill, eat some pizza, drink some beers, and play The Simpsons cabinet game. There is a basketball game and skee-ball but at $1 a pop, those are a little pricey. read more

Got their pizza for takeout once a few weeks ago It was pricey for a bar-sized pizza with the extra 20% service charge, but is was delicious. Tried to order a pizza tonight and after sparring for too long with the online ordering option on their website, I called to order. Website is not easy to navigate. Finding the menu was quite the treasure hunt. The person that answered informed me that they "actually don't do takeout in the weekend." This would be a good thing to add to your website folks. Bring your kid (and strollers) to brewery day. Nice place off the beaten path with plenty of parking, good variety of solid brews, and really tasty but pricey ($15-$20) personal pizzas. Real friendly staff. There were as many kids as adults when we went, if not more. Their screaming can be heard echoing through the place as they run around, which was a minor unforeseen buzzkill. I've been back, and again: good beer and pizza. That mandatory 20% "tip" is slapped onto your bill, but is pocketed entirely by the owner; it is not shared with the staff. So, really, it's just an invisible bill inflator. So as long as you're cool with that, it's a decent place otherwise. read more

This is really just a brewery with very minimal food items (small personal pizzas). There are several games inside for the kids. I had a beer sampler, and our crew of 7 had half a dozen pizzas. Nothing tasted bad - although I was not overwhelmed by the beer - but the reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is because of 2 things: 1. The pizzas were small and the prices for everything were outrageous 2. There is a forced 20% fee they add on to the bill. Yes, the fee is mentioned on the menu but I didn't see it when ordering. I was focused on ordering. They call it a "fair wage tax" even though there are no servers. Everything is self-service. Well, sorry. If I serve myself, you're not getting a tip. And if the owner thinks his workers deserve a "fair wage", THEN THE OWNER SHOULD PAY IT. Calling it a "fair wage tax" and demanding that the CUSTOMERS subsidize it is what Socialists do. I've been to the brewery on different days and times of the day and each time I was overwhelmed by the amount of kids and how loud they are. I get the whole family friendly thing but I've been to many many breweries and this one has the most uncomfortable noise level I've ever experienced. The Beer is ok. The pizza is delicious. This one star review is 100% down to the service and experience I had. My gf and I ordered a couple pizzas and beers. When the pizza came out, one of them was the daily special that we had been talking about among ourselves but didn't actually order. When I went down to take it back and get the right one, the girl tried to argue with me about it. I just asked for the manager. She tried to head me off and but I saw his eyes get wide and he came over and profusely apologized and said "of course we'll get you the right pizza and you can keep the incorrect one as well." Mistakes happen and even though the cashier didn't want to make good, the manager certainly did. All was fine until I went to settle up the bill and was informed by the same girl who messed up my order that there's a "20% fair wages fee added to every bill" which I was unhappy about because why tip 20% for terrible service? Then I got the bill and noticed that she had charged me for the more expensive special pizza instead of the one I ordered. I asked her to adjust my bill and she just said "oh I already ran the card from when you opened the tab. sorry." My gf hustled me out of there before I could lose my temper but we won't be back. It doesn't matter how good the food is - thinking that you're entitled to a gratuity after providing terrible service will always leave a terrible taste in my mouth. I've been to a lot of Mass. breweries, but Roundhead is one of the best. The space is enormous, and very cool to hang out in. First and foremost, their pizza is OUTSTANDING - totally worth the higher price point. Their beer is also excellent, with a nice variety and each one flavorful and very drinkable. Lastly, the space is awesome, with a wide-open, high-ceilinged, light-filled space that includes picnic tables and large cushy lounge seating. Tucked away in a sea of old warehouses, Roundhead stands out like a beacon in the night. It has a solid and selective array of brews on tap: weisse, sours, brown ales, IPAs, and seasonals. We tried the Chimu, Rosita, Brown Eyes, and Quantum Reggae. All were great, with the Quantum just edging the out the others due to its unique dragonfruit flavor. THE best thing was actually the chicha (purple corn drink). I'd like to get it in a camelpack and drink it all day long. There's food on premises, with a full pizza kitchen. The pizza was 6 small slices, good for 2-3 people, and super tasty -- the co-founder's bakery roots are apparent in the perfect pizza dough. Plenty of parking and seating, and there's ping pong, skee ball, and an arcade game for the kiddos or competitive big kiddos. Staff were incredibly informative and chill. Definitely add to your brewery bucket list, or put it on your weekend rotation. read more
