I was in Boston and I wanted to check out the original brewery for Sam Adams. I ordered a flight since there was a wide variety of beers on tap to choose from. All of beers that I tried tasted very good. The service is very quick and efficient. The brewery is a little bit outside the main city area of Boston. In my opinion, it was not worth the time to make the trip out to the Jamaica Plain location. Instead, try one of the Sam Adam taproom locations in the city! There's a large merchandise store at the brewery with a wide variety of Sam Adams merchandise to bring home with you.

I loved our time here. The tour was brief but informative and included beers! The tap room was chill. I just randomly chose a pilsner and it was delicious. We spent too much money in the gift shop as they had so many cute items. The darling Sam Adams beer glasses polo shirt was a must and we just kept adding merch. Fun time- I would return.

Sam Adams JP brewery provides a wonderful atmosphere to gather with family or friends for a afternoon of brews. They do a number of live events throughout the week including trivia, bingo and live music on Sundays. With the weather still being great we were able to sit outside on the patio. Always a strong mix of craft beers including seasonals. The staff are great and service is normally really efficient. They also have a great gift shop and some solid food options. Would recommend for anyone visiting or who lives in town. I greatly prefer JP to their downtown location.

I took the tour & would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys the details put into the beer or anyone who just enjoys beers period. Our tour guide (a woman whose name starts with an S, Sorry!) was very knowledgeable & and the tour very enjoyable. Didn't stop in the taproom, but could see why so many people enjoy their time there.. beer, food and sports, say less.

I loved the tasting and learning about how one of my favorite beers came to be. The tour guide was fun and informative. It was really cool to look around and see where the new flavors are tested.

Did the tour again! This time it is $15 for the 45 minute (really was an hour or so, which is great) tour and we had a blast. So many beer samples and great information. We stopped at the beer garden after for some snacks and a flight and I only have great things to say. Good beer, good vibes, great place to be!

It was on my list to visit and decided to do the Beyond the Brewhouse tasting experience and it was a bit disappointing. Yes it includes 3 beer samples and you get to see most of the brewing spaces but we did not get much history or information from how each beer we tasted was, what is new with the brewery or the background of the brewing process in detail. I was expecting a bit more knowledge like they do at most wineries but at least I got to see the place and try new beers!

We had the best time at the taproom. We did the basic tour and it was absolutely worth the price. Not only do you get an inside look at the brewing process and history behind the brand, but the guides make it fun and engaging the whole way through. What really stood out to me was getting to sample some of their R&D flavors. It was exciting to try beers that are still in development and might not even make it to market, as well as the classics that everyone already knows and love. Between the quality of the beer, the knowledgeable staff, and the chance to taste something experimental, this tour is definitely a must for beer lovers.

If you get a chance to do this, you should. It's an interesting tour and you get to taste the beer.

I'm guessing most of the 5 star reviews are written after several of their libations as there wasn't really anything 5 star about our visit. Not in the nicest part of town, but thankfully there is plenty of off street parking. We got a free contact high when we got out of the truck which was great for the wife and I but the kids didn't love the smell. There seems to be 2 sides to this establishment; the tours and the tap room and they come complete with separate entrances. Because we were in beantown for a futsal match for my son we couldn't take the tour (21+) so we just checked out the food and of course, the brews. Been drinking Sam since before I could legally buy it because I've never been a fan of domestic lagers. Figured I had to finally check this place out. Unlike most breweries that distribute ubiquitously, the only way to get any special brews here is on the tour. Most others I've been to offer brewery only stuff right in the taproom but unfortunately we were relegated to drink the same stuff I can buy on the shelf at my local packie. I was thankful that the at least offered a side pull to add some character to an otherwise standard brew. The beers were as good as expected. Sam Adams doesn't tend to put out anything that could be construed as off-putting which is great because everything is at least serviceable. The food was basic and edible but nothing to make a trip here for. I was glad they had food, so I'm not complaining by any means. The cookies were good, but eat them right as they come out as once they get cold they turn to granite. Service was decent until when I went to close our tab and an off duty employee actually cut me in line. I understand that most brewery lines get kinda blurred sometimes but this was a clear as day cut me situation and the fact that it was an employee left me quite disappointed. I don't plan to go back, but if I ever did it would be for the tour so I could at least try some specialty brews and I would plan to grab dinner somewhere else.

This is a great brewery to stop by right in the heart of the city. It is completely free and no cover charge. We came on a Saturday night and they had many seating options. I am not a huge fan of beer but they did have hard seltzer available. The DJ playing on July 5th was great and had amazing hits lined up. Highly recommend this place for after work drinks or to just catch up with friends.

Are there stairs to traverse during the tour. If so, are they grated metal stairs or solid stairs?

There are stairs to go to the last section of the brewery. You have to cross the small parking lot and head down a small staircase (I believe it was wood solid) and back up. But if you do the basic tasting I dont think you get to see that room. Hope… Read more

Does this brewery make its own non-alcoholic root beer?

    They do not.

Is there still outdoor dining in 2021? Are there heaters or igloos etc?

Hi Alyssa! We are still doing service in the Beer Garden. We've got heaters (and hand warmers and hot cider!), but strongly encourage bundling up. Hope to see you soon!

Do they still offer trolley rides to the tavern?

Yes! Free of charge! And you get a free Sam Adams pint glass with an entree!

Do you have outdoor seating and do you allow dogs?

They do have outdoor seating in the warm months, not sure about pets

Do you need to book a tour in advance or can you just show up and get in one?

We booked in advance to guarantee we would get the tour we wanted as there are different ones available.

    How is parking?

I actually would go as far as saying they are underrated in talks of all the breweries in Maine. They have always been a brewery with a vast amount of variety in their styles they brew. Such as IPAs, fruited sours, porters, stouts, lagers, and so many more. Enough variety you could visit and all your party could find their style. They also deserve a lot of credit for being one of the first if not the first in the state to jump on the non-alcoholic train for beers. This has expanded to basically be as varied in style as their usual beers now. I actually enjoyed their NA Mexican Lager and it was delicious and would be a great option for those looking for NA beers. My wife grabbed their NA seltzer and enjoyed it as well. Since that expansion they have also moved into adaptogen beverages as well as CBD/THC drinks too. They keep expanding their portfolio while also doing what they already do so well! Also for non beer drinkers they did have some bourbon and other spirits available as well. Really great options for all who show up! They don't offer food themselves besides some free popcorn, which was seasoned perfectly! Although if feeling like more food swing in next door to Weathervine and grab some food before to pair with your drink. The bartender was very friendly and apologized when my first choice kicked and from his interactions with other patrons it is clear Woodland Farms cares about their customers! A spot my wife and I will make sure to return to sooner rather than later. You should check it out as well!
