I surprised my girls by coming here. My 11 year old loves to play the claw machines, so she was blown away by how many Round1 had. She spent all of her money on those. My 7 year old hung out with my Mom and did their own thing. They have been to Dave and Buster's before and so my 11 year old compared it to it and mentioned she liked Round1 better because of all the claw machines. We did not eat, or bowl so not sure how that would be. The service we did receive in buying things with the "tokens" they earned on their cards was good. They have some nice prizes. *I paid for two shoes and two games each for my partner and I for bowling, but when done with our first game, were told they needed the lane for the next group and refused to refund for the second game* We arrived at 6, paid for shoes and two rounds each in lane 10. We were with a group and had both lane 9 & 10, with a total of 6 people in our lane, all of whom paid for their own shoes and games. When we finished the first game, we were told that we couldn't play our second game because another group needed the lane. "No biggie" I said, I'll just get a refund for the our second game. No. They gave our additional games to someone else and refused to refund me. Seriously. I can't make this up. I said that sounded like a "them" problem and handed over my card, explained that I didn't authorize them giving my games to someone else, and again asked for a refund. They refused. This would be like me ordering two drinks and having my second drink given to someone else, then being refused a refund, and making it my responsibility to "shake down" a stranger for my money! Apparently others in the group, who also paid for multiple games, experienced the same thing. In addition to this, the food and beverage setup is a nightmare. Step 1: go to a kiosk and place your food and drink order and get the receipt that spits out. Step 2: take the receipt to a counter with a human. They will scan it and you will pay for your order. Step 3: wait around for a long while for your order and get it from yet another counter. Step 4: go to another counter and order your beer, get a lengthily speech about how many cocktails I (a 47 year old business professional) can consume, then wait around for that item. I can understand the bar portion, but why all the weird steps for food and soda? Either let me pay at the kiosk or skip the kiosk all together and let me order from the human who eventually swiped my card in step 2. It's not efficient and it's misleading to customers. Someone in my party had to wait nearly 15 minutes for their soda. Had they known that 47,000 customers were ahead of them "in line" in the system, they likely would have skipped it. We are planning a bowling night once a month for my region of employees, up to 30 to 40 for this group, (although on this night, we only had 6 people playing in each lane) and we will take our business elsewhere. We could have dealt with the food and beverage debacle, but getting ripped off for the games is unacceptable. Had the manager just refunded those of us who paid for second games, they may have retained us for next month, but according to him "there's nothing he can do" which translates to "you aren't important, we already have your money, and I don't care". Customer service is absolutely disgusting. My 7 year old son was waiting in line to get a prize from the tickets he won. Ten minutes prior to closing they turned my son away telling him they couldn't cash in his tickets. I asked the young woman if he could please choose a prize since we live out of state and she turned us away. We took my son there to cheer him up since his grandpa had just passed, he left in tears. My kids have wanted to go for ages, but what with covid and all I put it off for obvious reasons. Needed indoor shenanigans so finally caved prepared for the insane prices that go along with arcades this size. It's not a bad place to let your kids free range if you have some serious cash and you've taught them how not to blow a hundred bucks in five minutes. We only did the arcade part, and the selection was fun, I'll give them that. It's set up a lot like a casino with terrible carpet and a maze they change from time to time if you choose to visit again to keep you wandering and spending money. My kids had fun, and their ticket system isn't the worst, but along with all the rest of the bad reviews in here, the biggest issue I think we had was customer service. It is seriously lacking. I expect some lackadaisical attendants when you're hiring the typical mall youth, but they're hard to even find! There's nothing to eat if you can't have gluten, but there's always the food court if you're there during open mall hours. I figure with some forethought and money to burn we'll be back, but it certainly won't be a regular spot to take my boys. read more

I wasn't super impressed with Round 1--we've been to other places similar to this that I've liked much better. The selection of games and the bowling area wasn't all that large. They have a bar & food court, but you aren't allowed to take any of it onto the floor. We didn't realize this until after we'd already ordered beers so we then had to chug them in order to not waste our timed cards. The plushies at round 1 are super cute! I recommend getting the normal card and getting $30-$40 onto the card. The wait for filling the card and getting help was not long at all. We were able to win 3 plushies they are super cute and good quality. Good luck having fun here... Horrible experience for my young son and I trying to have a night together. First, we waited over an hour and a half in line with masks on to get into the facility... Once we were in, everything was overpriced and low quality. The food gave me a stomach ache. I lowered my mask to under my nose to breathe a bit during arcade games...as there was no other patrons around me, and I felt like I needed to relieve myself. I actually had just experienced a miscarriage and my hormones have been bothering me, especially hot flashes. A young employee appeared immediately and told me to pull it up. I apologized and told her I had trouble breathing. My son and I continued playing games and the employee began to follow us wherever we went nitpicking the fashion I was wearing my mask. We complied to her wishes again. But I asked if she would mind leaving us alone so we could play our games...I felt harassed. Next my son was picking out his prizes and the manager told us that we would have to leave immediately or he would call the police on us for trespassing. I was surprised at the attitude of the manager. Not once was perhaps a glass of water or a place to sit offered in return for my hot flash and light headed symptoms. I understand there are laws, but patrons were walking around with open containers without a mask all night with no trouble. They won't let you go outside and return, all I probably needed was a breath of fresh air. We just wanted to get our prizes and leave. We spent over 50 dollars on arcade games and they would not even offer my son a piece of candy or small toy, they gave him nothing. They also kicked an entire party of patrons out before me. They claimed they had received improper treatment as well and once the party said something about their behavior, which was apparently racist, they were escorted out as well. Pizza was okay but not nearly as good as Little Caesars or 7-11. Bowling was "available" but getting the shoes the host paid for was like an IRS audit. I gave up after too many questions. The event was 4 to 7 and when some of us wanted to go back and PURCHASE another beer, one of the bartenders had clocked out and the other was on lunch break. The snack bar guy said the manager would be around soon, however it took her over 10 minutes to get there and she claimed no one had bothered to call her. We started getting followed by a worker all night and eventually got "ID checked". my friend had his ID showing that he was 18 and i had a photo but the worker did not accept it what so ever and continued to kick us out even though there were others around us that he did not ID. as we were leaving he followed us outside and continued to harass/ scream at me and my friend and call my friends names. this whole situation was unacceptable and we all felt very mistreated and disrespected. we paid for a good amount of points to use and did not get our money back. don't come here if you're looking for a fun night; go somewhere else where you won't get harassed by the workers. read more

I lived in Tokyo 5 years and have been to multiple Round One locations there. This one is by far the worst I've been to. The wait time is horrendous. There are only two registers for a line of 30+ people, and most of the time there was only one staff, the managers were screwing around trying to get things to work on the other register. No cash or coins, only point and time cards. The labyrinthine system of trying to understand how the cards for games work is a nightmare. I guess they're trying to avoid costs on labor of counting coins and safety to prevent robberies? Essentially, any games that give you tickets or prizes require points, the other shooting and music and air hockey stuff uses time OR point cards. Holy crap, $2 for one drop of a crane game? We blew through our $40 card in something like 30 minutes. In Japan you just use $1 coins for everything. The card reload machines BOTH died during the time we were there so if we wanted to reload, we'd need to wait in line AGAIN. They obviously want you to buy the most expensive card to get a bunch of free points; microtransaction scamming essentially. They had a lot of games from Japan there, but a lot of them kind of suck. The music games are especially bad because (and this is true even in Japan) the songs are ones that no one knows. There was a single Guitar Hero game which had songs you'd know. The photo booths needed some kind of "special event" coin, I guess that's probably because you'd have too many idiot Americans doing gross stuff in the photo booths and they can't be trusted. No batting cages, volleyball or basketball courts was kind of sad, but I guess that's size limitations. As the night went on, the place started to smell more and more like really bad weed, as more and more burnouts kids from around Eugene and Springfield wandered in and stood around doing nothing. The bowling alley was decent, nothing special. Food was relatively well priced, $6 for a cheeseburger, 99c ice cream. Whoever the lady complaining about them not having non-gluten free ice cream on here needs to get a life. A single scoop of ice cream (which barely has any flour in it, ever) isn't going to make your stupid kid require a diaper, you weirdo. The Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom machines were cool. The concept of Round One could have been great but it's obvious that the Japanese ownership had too many fingers in the pie, and too many American business consultants who don't get how to run an arcade. Get rid of the Japanese machines except for the fighting cabinets. Make everything non-crane free to play with time or use limits and just charge a gate fee at the entrance to get it like a theme park. Better yet, just let people put in cash. So, I have been to this place countless times. I have also spent well over $500. This place by no means is cheap. But for this type of an arcade is on par from what I have seen elsewhere like at Dave n busters in the portland area. I have seen reviews regarding wait times and the credit system. As well talking about management and so on. I will be covering all of this and more. 1. Gaming experience and the value So the gaming experience is a ton of fun and worth it everytime I go. The more I go the more value I get can range from what I am going in there for. Am I going in to win tickets or have fun. If I am going in to have fun. The amount of money you spend will be higher than if you are going in to win tickets. But you will also have a blast doing it. The games are very fun to play and if i had the money could spend all day. But for winning tickets with the max value can be difficult to find the games and strats required but I have found I can make 100-500 tickets per dollar dollar spent pretty easily. So the value is there for me and i have fun doing it. So overall I love this place because of that. 2. Wait time and management. So my first gripe has to be wait times regarding tickets and putting credits on my cards. However, if you already own a card and are not a club member. You can go to a kiosk and grab credits usually fairly easily with no issues. Something to also note is that your wait times will fluctuate depending on the days you go in. If you go in on a week day your wait times will be minimal to none. But your wait time on weekends will increase to about 15 to 30 minutes. As for management. They are doing great. Everytime I have had a machine break they are always coming over to help. If i have issues they are their to help. I have had machines eat credits and been given additional credits. This management do their job and do it well. As much as I have bugged them they are always easy going for as much as I have bugged them or joked with them. 4. Food So food here is by no means not the best. Out of all the times we have eaten their. I would suggest walking out eating in the food court and coming back in to play more. It might cost a bit more but you will get a better value. I am not gonna knock them. This comes out of a luxury thing since they dont allow outdoor food or drink. That is why they can justify the costs and sizes of stuff. Also the food wait is a pain and I am suprised they havent gotten the kiosks setup for that yet Tip/tricks 1. Buy a club card and only put $100 on at a time. No lower otherwise you will waste your money 2. If you are after tickets only play games you know you can win and get a decent payout 3. If you wanna play lots of non ticket games. Buy the free to play. If you have the club card it will increase the amount of time you can play off the same amount you pay. 4. Enjoy your self and never feel bad about asking staff for help. Comparing this to dave n busters. This place is way bigger. Around the same price. I took my son here for his birthday- we had a nice time and everything, the games were more reasonably priced that I expected and he was able to earn enough tickets to get a few fun prizes. Unfortunately, while we were playing one of the basketball games we discovered human feces on one of the balls- and by discovered I mean we realized that we had crap on our hands after picking up one of the balls. I let the staff know and their response was pretty underwhelming- they "comped" us another round on the same game (I really didn't want to play it again after that) and sent us on our way. It looked like one of the staff members wiped the ball down and went back to their business like nothing had happened. I kept thinking they should have maybe blocked that game off for the day but maybe I am overreacting. I guess it's really nothing that they could have controlled but I was really disturbed and disgusted for the rest of our time there- and the rest of my day honestly! Great rhythm game selection. didn't check out much of the games but I was particularly excited by Project Diva and Chunithm - if you wanna play both there's a card that gives you both the time credits (chunithm uses them) and the normal credits (most every other rhythm game uses them) for convenience. Also a bunch of dance games and stuff. Had problems getting DDR to work, which was sad but fine. The atmosphere was great. 10/10 for about everything. Crazy fun. read more

Just like Big Als in portland only dumbed down. Easy access to parking and Valley River Center Mall. Interior feels spacious and clean. Plenty of games for every person. Low cost ice cream is good choice for kids before you head out. Dining is limited. Eat prior. Crane games are a fun, unique style which retrains your brain for this style of game. If you find they are too hard to adapt to, there are plenty of other standard plush cranes in the place. My biggest complaint for Round1 is the decieving price of games. The have a strange "credit" system for your card thatyou must purchase to play. A $20 game card will skim a 2 dollar fee immediately off the top. Now you are down to 18 bucks. The games have very strange credit system to play. You'll see "9.4 credits to play" or "6.0 credits to play". This is horsechit. Tell me how many CENTS to play! This is not Japan! Nor is it a casino! Give it to me straight! So I can tell how many dollars this game is costing me! 50 dollars will dissapear with 2 kids in about 25 minutes. Cons:Get ready to WAIT! 30 + minutes to pay for the arcade/member card. They charge $2 for the card too. After we got our cards, we waited another 30+ minutes to rent ping pong paddles. Ping pong room does not have tables to set a drink down on. Finally went to get ice cream for the kids and NONE of there ice cream is gluten free for my celiac kid. Spent more time waiting than enjoying. Pros:Parking and access was easy. Everything is brand new. Restrooms were clean. Recomendations: increase employees on the computers at card station, rentals, and for food. Should not have to wait over an hour. read more

It's fun but super pricey and crowded, granted we did attend opening weekend and there were some festivals in town. The food is typical arcade/bat food. The claw games are Japanese style and take some getting used to from the typical claw games. They prizes inside are high quality stuffers toys that cost $20-$30 each of purchased at Barnes and Noble or online. It takes about $50 dollars in credits to learn how to win if you are new to this style. The main drawback I observed where the sheer number of machines that were not properly working, which prevent prizes from being won. The employees are happy to fix them but it's hard to know they aren't working if it's your first time. The kids claw machines jerk much harder than they do in LA locations so the prize drops after being picked up when the claw hits the end of the horizontal row. The prices are quite high for bowling and pool. They are cheaper in the morning but you have only 2 hours of play time, if you can get a lane or table. The price for a card is at least 2 dollars but for an annual card it's at least $6. They have hour arcade game pricing again cheaper for the first 2 hours and then jumping up once it's noon. The pass is only good on green swipe games so make sure the green ones are the ones you want to play since they comprise about 25% of all games. Overall the claw machines prices are high but it's easy not to notice unless you do the math and see how much each credit costs. It's an average of 1.75 per try. The way you purchase credits is also misleading unless you do the math, which most kids don't. It shows the more you spend the more bonus credits you earn but by doing the math, they aren't bonus credits, they are paid for. We went with $30 on the card since we don't live in the area because it was the best deal. The parties seem like the best way to go since it's $23 per person with food and game play included. So for birthday parties it's a good deal for the area. Since there is no other competition in the area I am sure they will do very well. We will come back and include more pictures but only plan to take advantage of the hour game play for a set price since we like the green swipe games. Many of the games are in Japanese but it is easy to figure out how to play. We enjoyed the Time Shifter shooting game and this is the only place to get a chance for many Asian toys and to play Japanese video games in the area so we will be back but only for the hour video game play read more

My family and I went here and we're advised that we can't have food or drink at the lanes. We asked specifically about beer and they said it's fine to have in the bar area. We then pay and get our lanes only to be told the bar is closed. We asked for a refund and were told there were no refunds. They finally agreed to open the bar, but then said someone had to sit with our drinks at all times even though our lane was right next to the bar area and our drinks were an arm's reach away. The manager was super defensive and argumentative saying they aren't a bowling alley. WTF!? You literally have a bowling pin on your sign! Never coming back again. Unreasonable staff and management. I'm not a political person and wear masks in the local businesses with no problem. However, multiple times, when in conversation, my mask slipped over my nose and was repeatedly approached to put it over my nose--of which I did. My pregnant wife and I were then told, that if we couldn't keep our masks up, then we would be removed. I brought my nieces to play some games and they had a good time. I brought in an empty beer can to throw away and they refused to serve me for that. However they still served my little sister who was wasted already. I noticed people smoking marijuana right in front of the entrance and they had no issue getting in or being served. If you go here I recommend you don't throw away your empty can but instead litter it in the parking lot where they can't see. Also bring your marijuana and light it up in front of the entrance they don't mind that. read more

If you like anime and video games, this is definitely the spot for you--there's nothing else like it in town. Highlights among the arcade machines include Hatsune Miku Project Diva, a plentitude of fighting game arcade cabinets, and some puzzle games, like Puyo Puyo Fever and Tetris. Some games are in Japanese only, so bring a friend who can read for you if you can't. Although you don't really need to read because they're arcade games, and if you're going specifically to play Project Diva, you probably know what's up already If you're playing a rhythm game, I would recommend bringing some earbuds because although the games are super loud, everything else in the arcade is loud as well. I also really enjoy the crane games, but they are extremely different from normal games. My tip is to watch a YouTube video before you go, or you can people watch in real life (when everything reopens lol). If you try to use regular crane game techniques, you will waste your money FAST. The crane games are pretty expensive, with the premium cranes costing 9 to 12 credits ($1.80-$2.50 a play) but the prizes are worth it if you know how to win. There's usually a picture on the top of each machine telling you where to aim to win--you can ask employees to reset the prizes to the position in the photos if they get pushed into or get stuck on the prongs. The prizes are mostly anime related or inspired. A lot of them are super cute, some are cool, and some are really ugly! There's definitely something for everyone or their loved ones (that like anime or cute things) I can't say anything about the food because I didn't get any, but the size of the 99cent cones is decent, also they're 99cent cones so its a good value no matter what. They have a decent (for a big chain) selection of draft beers with decent (for an entertainment center) prices--3.99 for a pint, and 5.99 for a 32 oz(not sure on size) glass. I went the second weekend they were open (extremely busy with like a 30 minute line to order food or beer) and the fourth weekend they were open (just walked up to the bar no wait). All in all, you should visit at least once if you're looking for a unique experience that Eugene didn't have to offer before R1 opened. It is a bit spendy, but if you play your cards right on the cranes, you can come out with some cool new squishy friends! read more

I encountered the GM, Mariah, today after an exchange regarding our negative experience. I now understand why we received the worst customer service of my life, with literally every employee with whom we interacted. Leadership matters. Employees will do what they see and if they see their leader treat people poorly, then of course they will do the same. The crew seemed young, and it is unfortunate that this is what they are being taught. My perception of Mariah: arrogant, entitled, insensitive, incompetent, combative and rude. She struck me as a bully and I imagine she makes working there an absolute nightmare. That being said, I did some research on the corporation as a whole. They have an F rating with BBB and the dozen or so Yelp ratings I saw for different locations showed the same level of bad service and experiences. I would suggest that they do an audit of their leaders, but with their corporate culture, I doubt they care. Round1 is the fun center version of Walmart. They come in, offer a negative experience, underpay their staff, try to put the mom n pop shops out of business, and destroy the integrity of a small-ish community. The only difference is that Walmart sells an item at a rock bottom price....that def won't be your experience here. (Although the cost of goods here was not my complaint....I come to a place like this expecting to spend too much for a mediocre plate of nachos). We won't be back and if I had more spare time, I'd make it my personal mission to get Mariah canned. "Managers" like her are what's wrong with the service industry. Wow! Unexpected. Was like walking into a casino. Lots of lights flashing. LOTS of games to play. Unfortunately, most geared toward older kids and adults. The younger kiddos that I was with didn't play much, were just in awe of everything. Clean and cool. Friendly staff. Games do not take quarters. You purchase a card to swipe. This was great to keep track of credits and points. No tickets to deal with. What I did NOT like is the $2 activation fee for the card. Super annoying. Will go back again to check out more games. This establishment was rude from this old guy watching both of my friends the whole night and kicking them out even after proving they had a picture of their 18 plus ID and we're both legally over 18. These people were being rude and disrespectful even when both of my friends were able to prove they were over 18 years old. Fuck this stupid bowling place since they clearly want to act like people aren't over the right age, when they are. No one was trying to buy alcohol or anything, we were simply just playing games and our friends got kicked out after being on a waitlist for bowling, it was fucked up and rude for the out friends to get kicked out. Hope no one goes here who wants to have fun with their friends past 9pm since apparently it's not allowed to those who have proved their over 18 past 9pm. This man followed them out and was pressing them the whole time while they have total proof they were over 18. Don't go here here unless you want to he gaslighted over your own age. read more
