We were seated right away upon walking in. The owners were incredibly personable and made us feel welcome, giving us plenty of time to look over the drink menu. We started with the Bruschetta, which was fresh and packed with flavor. For our mains, we ordered the Bucatini pasta and the lasagna; both dishes were a delight and exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and freshness. To finish, we had a chocolate dessert--I can't recall the specific name, but the owner took the time to explain exactly how it was made, which was a lovely touch. Everything about our meal was perfect, and the ambiance offered such a cozy, personalized atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

For the longest time, I couldn't stop ordering the turkey pesto sandwich because it was that good. Once I finally started trying other menu items, I realized it wasn't just one great sandwich. Everything I've had has been delicious. The coffee and tea are exceptional as well. Manteca is so lucky to have a place like Bean & Leaf. This is a place that genuinely nourishes its community, and I think that's something really special.

Given the multitude of licenses at stake in such enterprises, I wish to share my recent experience at this location. This morning, my husband and I visited, and we were somewhat disappointed with the quality of our orders. He ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk, while I ordered an oat milk latte with an extra shot of espresso at a temperature of 200 degrees. He also selected a ham, cheese, and egg croissant, and I opted for a bacon and cheese croissant. Regrettably, the items did not meet our expectations. The beverages lacked the desired strength; although the temperature was correct, I was informed after placing our order that they were out of oat milk and had to substitute it with almond milk. Given that we had already paid approximately $30, this was quite disappointing. Despite these concerns, we did not request a discount or refund, and we accepted the substitution that was communicated to us approximately 10 to 15 minutes after placing our order. On a positive note, the staff were very courteous, and the establishment was clean. However, I suspect that the items we ordered may not represent the best offerings on their menu. While the service was commendable, there was a notable wait involved. It would have been preferable to have been informed of the oat milk shortage prior to payment, as we might have chosen to leave at that point. Unfortunately, our dissatisfaction led us to seek alternative options, and we subsequently drove to Stockton to visit Peet's Coffee, where we consistently find lattes prepared to our liking. While we may not return to this location, I do not wish to portray it negatively. It is clear that the establishment has potential, yet our experience did not align with our expectations.

As much as I've enjoyed their pastas I have noticed a some decline and probable changes. I've been a couple of times recently in the last couple of months and every time the sauces seemed a bit watered down and less flavorful. I also remembered their pastas coming with garlic bread but I had to order garlic bread the last time. Anyways, the actual cook of the pasta has been consistently good so I can't complain there. They aren't the quickest to get your food out but for the overall quality I am pretty much always willing to wait for well prepared food. As for ambiance, I mean it's a food truck so not much to say there.

I'll comment on the taste in a bit but I want to first highlight something I've never experienced. In all my work-from-home years I've never once had to-go experience where the dishes looked like they'd been plated for table service at the restaurant. Sure some stuff shifted in the Dasher's car but it honestly blew me away. Even the drink was carefully wrapped and put in a little box to ensure it wouldn't leak everywhere. As for the important bit, the taste, man... I have had so many amazing Thai meals at places in the bay area and honestly just assumed the most Modesto would get is some great Banh Mi spots. Obviously I haven't had the chance to try the whole menu but my go-to, Tom Kha, this is the best Thai coconut soup I've ever had! The Pad Thai is as good if not better than what I've had in San Francisco as well. I'm really looking forward to bringing friends and family here to check it out in person! Side note... yes, it's also very expensive ordering via Doordash with their added fees but it's 2026 and it's California. So far my multiple orders have been well worth the price and I expect the same experience in person! (just, you know, without the extra Doordash fee nonsense)
