I found this place after looking up places to eat during my visit to Chicago. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Everything about the food was incredible!! The staff was super friendly, and being gluten sensitive, it was especially amazing that their menu was too! They had gluten free pita bread which I've never seen before, and it was just perfect. A Chicago-based Mediterranean Corner Bakery with a bigger menu is the best way to describe Roti. Pizza, salads, sandwiches, and other goodies await you here. They also boat pastries and other random items. For breakfast they currently have three variations of omelettes that you can either eat in a roll or as a platter. All are good and relatively healthy. I've had the Margarita(sp?) pizza as well as the tomato and cucumber salad. I would get both again. read more

Met a friend here for lunch last week and was really impressed. I was late so she was at the head of the line when I got there, but it only took about 5 minutes from the time I got in line (near the door) to get to the counter, order food, and pay. It's set up like a Chipoltle where you move down the line as prep cooks ask what you want, then what sauces, then what toppings. The girl that took my initial order was really friendly the rest of the people on the line were more focused on keeping things moving. I really appreciated that, I don't need friendly and chatty at lunch, I would just like my food before I have to be back at the office, so bonus points for them. I had the Sultan Sandwich, which is listed as one of their favorites, and has chicken roti, hummus, tomato & cucumber salad, and zhug (which is a spicy sauce) in a pita; I opted out of the zhug and choose the milder sauce. It was very good, but because there was so much liquid in the pita the actual pita didn't last long, and began to fall apart about half way through eating it. Conveniently though it was just as tasty with a fork, just don't think this is a walking around lunch. Next time I think I'll choose the laffa bread and make a wrap instead and go easier on the liquid based toppings. Pricing is the same anywhere downtown, slightly too expensive but at least it's good portions and relatively healthy. read more

Excellent option for healthier fast food. I had the B.P.E. Best Plate Ever. Rice, chicken kabob, humus, cucumber tomato salad, vegetables and pita for $7.95. Hummus was tasty. Rice had. Mild jasmine flavor. Just enough to make it interesting. The chicken was moist and came with a red pepper sauce that was not over whoring and allowed you to taste everything. The pita was delicious but one piece was not enough. Great for a quick inexpensive bite. read more

Roti is great. I usually go with the chicken venetian, but have had a couple other items on the menu. The chicken venetian always has me coming back. The hummus and babaghanoosh are great. They pack in the garlic so don't plan on getting too close to anyone after eating. The Rotis in the city are in the loop and close early so it's usually a weekday lunch spot for me. read more

It was nice finding a place that wasn't burgers, pizza or sandwiches. I'm a huge fan of mediterranean food, so I was excited to try it out. The menu was set up similar to Chipotle in that you could select the meet, fillings, and extras. They had a nice choice of fresh ingredients and the amount seemed to be reasonable. My only disappointment was the chicken seemed to be a little overcooked and I tasted more burnt flavor than chicken. Overall, the meal was very satisfying and I will be a return visitor. read more

I love the food from Roti but have twice now in just a few weeks had a pretty frustrating order ahead situation. My work day is busy so being able to order online and just run downstairs (Roti is in my building) is something I rely on. Twice now they have run out of or not had what I ordered and did not attempt to let me know until very shortly before my order was due to be ready (even when I ordered hours ahead of time). When you're counting on grabbing your lunch quickly between meetings this really puts you in a bind. If you have time to go pick your food up I would recommend it but I wouldn't rely on their online ordering system- the whole point of Roti for me is health and convenience but lately they've been the opposite of convenient. read more

Roti is fairly different from the Mediterranean take out places in Maryland- the decor is nicer, lol. It reminds me of a Chipotle (how you select your entree and sides) but with different food of course. The food is very good but was not very spicy (perhaps you can adjust with the different spices). Overall a good value, but it does not have the extensive menu of a more formal restaurant. read more

I hate for my first review to be a bad one but hey gotta start with something. Where do I start... Oh those balls they call falafels not even close to authentic, more like fried mash potatoes stuffed with whole chic peas. What's up with that? Sandwiches were ridiculousy overpriced at almost $8. One of the worst beef shawarma I have ever tasted...so bland that my breathe had more flavor than the beef. I know yuck lol! This place is so overrated. I should have stuck with my usual fave lunch spots...Qdoba, I Dream of Falafel or even Subway. Presentation GREAT, the food...BLAH! The food was good and service was quick. I had a little trouble understanding the employee who was making my pita due to a combination of noise and his accent, but that is common at peak eating times downtown and not really a big deal. The problem was I got a little sick afterwards. I'm not certain it was due to Roti but I can't come up with any other reason. My stomach was churning for a good 3-4 hrs after I ate. I might give it a second chance because I would hate to rule out a decent place because of a coincidence. However, if the food was really good I wouldn't care if it made me sick. read more

Everything was yummy except for the falafel which was mushy and had some sort of mashed potato filling. Falafel should be crunchy on the outside and somewhat cake-like on the inside. They keep their falafel in a metal catering tray with the lid over it and maybe as a result the falafel gets steamy and mushy? The recipe needs improvement. Otherwise good. read more

Don't be discouraged by the line wrapping around the block and all the way down to Indiana. It is that good and it moves quickly. The spicy feta hummus is great, the laffa bread is awesome for sandwiches but their falafel is the most greasy falafel I've ever encountered. That's not to say it isn't tasty because it is. My gripe: MORE SOUP OPTIONS ! They do however brew Metropolitan coffee which knocks my socks off - keep it local. read more

Typical Mediterranean fare but small portions and super expensive!

Talk about a turn in the wrong direction. When this location first opened I really enjoyed it. Seems for a few months now there have been changes going on. Specials no longer honored, smaller portions, revised menu, and especially rude/poor service lately. I usually get a Mediterranean chicken plate. Prior to them "simplifying" their menu, portions were not crazy but I felt like I was getting a good value. Now, not so much. A small scoop of tiny chunks or shreds of chicken and the hummus you ask for is a small plop on the plate. You have 3 times the amount of flat bread for the amount of hummus they give you. Used to give you plenty for the large pita you get, In fact it seems like now the prep cooks are taking a lot of care to ensure you don't get to much when you watch them dress your plate. For those that are light eaters hey great but is it worth the $9 bucks they hit me up for?? NO. Seems like bait and switch. They lured you in offering specials, large portions, friendly staff. The honeymoon is over and now they are taking advantage. Oh and Roti if you are out reading this get the older woman with the glasses out from behind the register. On several occassions I have witnessed her take a pretty rude attitude with customers... and the last I saw was her rolling her eyes and making a sigh for someone just asking for a reciept. She just has an attitude like she doesn't want to be there and is doing us a favor by showing up. Sad but turth is interaction with customers is not her forte...lol. I like Roti's food but will not be back to this location...there is one right across the river. Will try my luck at that one. read more

I was extremely delighted with the flavor of the foods. They have delicous hummus but had some major issues: 1. They don't care about you or want to help you. You are just part of their assembly line to move you out and take your money. No matter what question I asked I simply got a head nod. Is there dairy in that nod head...really? Nod head. No one to answer my question. What do you recommend? Nod head...really? No recommendations? 2. They let food touch. I like when I choose what mixes with what. I know, that it all gets mixed up in by belly but my taste buds really don't like Hummus with CousCous mixed in. I really don't want my chicken coated in your tomato mixture (that I didn't order and you slapped on there). 3. The chicken...has some potential. However, I got the bottom of the pan. Not only did it not fill up one of their scoopers but the portion they served me was the old gross crunchy parts...there was really no meat there. I tried to ask for a different serving but just got the head nod and passed down to the next person. 4. The noise. There is nothing inside this location to absorb the noise. Packed with people chatting away it is hard to hold a conversation without having to talk over someone else and then create additional noise. Hopefully they can correct some of these issues and then I will gladly return. Until then I will stick with I dream of Falafel. read more

This is a great place to stop by for a quick, delicious lunch. The price is very reasonable for the portions you get, and pop is not overpriced either. The atmosphere is a bit reminiscent of a Chipotle but the quality of food and service is so much better. Quality and flavor are great; a good alternative to the traditional sandwich/taco/burger/dog lunch. Don't let a long line deter you, it moves surprisingly fast. I work close by and am a fan for sure! I even turned a few people in my office on to the goodness of Roti. The service is great and so is the food. Prices are a little high, but for the freshness it is worth it. There have been a few questionable chicken pieces I have bitten into, but since I've switched to the salmon all is well :) Other people have no problems with the chicken, I am just a little sensitive to textures. I have never had a meal there and felt hungry after. The falafal is delicious! Also, because I'm sensitive to garlic and other foods (eggplant, etc.) I stick with more of the salad "stuff" rather than fill my dish up with sauces. read more
