We've also had it catered at work and it holds up just as well in mass quantities, which says a lot about their quality and consistency. I picked up Naf Naf and ordered two build your own bowls. I got one with only romaine lettuce as the base and there was hardly any lettuce. I wanted a salad, not just a few pieces of lettuce. The bowls have significantly decreased in size, but I guess the price is decent and the bowl did fill me up. I'm not sure if I would come back here as there are other places in the loop. read more

Ok I love Naf Naf. I have tried probably all of their locations and the quality and flavor just hit every single time. Their spicy hummus bowl is so beyond delicious. The falafel adds the perfect crunch and flavor, combine that with all the pickled goodies and veggies with tahini, the new moroccan sauce and harissa, omg. You have the perfect bowl with incredibly flavorful bites. My husband loves getting the chicken shawarma hummus bowl or plate. I love that it comes with a side pita that is always perfectly soft and toasted. The naf naf fries if you're feeling indulgent add the perfect crisp to the bowls. Always going back hoping one of them will be like they once used to be. Protein / Chicken was so limited. The girl was so so stingy that she barely put a spoon full.I barely tasted the meat in my bowl. The Falafel was almost raw inside and was one of the smallest I have ever seen in my life. Lovely place! One of the few places open later in the afternoon here after usual lunch hours end. We got a chicken kebab plate which was enough for two people looking to get a small meal. Falafel was delicious, and the skewers were made fresh for us in the odd hour we went. I wish the rice had more seasoning and flavor, or there was at least something to hold all the other ingredients together, but nevertheless everything tasted fresh. I was specifically impressed by the service we received here, unlike other older reviewers have mentioned. Possibly the worst food I've had in a while. The person working on the line seemed new and a bit nervous which was fine. He wasn't able to cut a pita so he got some help from a coworker. They were a bit stingy with the protein and other toppings. The pita sandwich wasn't as big as I thought it would be. The inside seemed a bit dirty, too. Several tables weren't clean and it wasn't busy at all when I went. To top things off, the water tasted really weird. Overall, not a good experience. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I recently went to Naf Naf Grill, located on Washington just west of Wells. I have been to other Naf Nafs before and have enjoyed the Middle Eastern fast food, but my office building has had another similar concept restaurant for years. Unfortunately the quality and taste of the food there has dropped off a cliff recently, so I ventured outside to get an early takeout lunch from Naf Naf. I ordered a bowl with chicken shawarma, basmati rice, and a bunch of toppings (cabbage, onion, sliced pickles, garlic sauce), along with a piece of pita bread. This pillowy piece of pita could literally serve as a pillow as it was large, thick and puffy, though the tradeoff was it was not too flavorful by itself. I also added a single piece of falafel (you can do that!) for a slight upcharge - this falafel is definitely one of the tastier ones available downtown. Naf Naf is my all time favorite. Many years ago I have been their flagship location in Naperville, IL and this one was a smaller one. But it had my favorite chicken schwarma. The best part of Naf Naf as compared to other ME places is that they make their own pita bread and its super soft and tasty. The chicken is also soft and juicy. The range of condiments they have is what makes that sandwich amazing. I did take the purple cabbage slaw to go in with the sandwich. Their fries are great as well. The food was good, although I thought the "family portion" catering trays were smallish. I will warn you that they outsource all deliveries via DoorDash. The DoorDash service was terrible. My go-to Middle Eastern lunch spot when working from my corporate office on nearby Upper Wacker. I recommend the hummus bowls (rice has too many carbs) with lots of the fillings--cucumber, red cabbage, etc. The spicy garlic sauce is fantastic! Had a sample, but I didn't really care for the fallafal. The fries can be tasty, but sometimes greasy. Usually pretty busy here at lunch time, so get here by 12:00pm or you will be waiting in a line that snakes out the door. The online ordering through their app can be hit-or-miss. Good & cheap. I get lunch here whenever I'm in Chicago for work because it's such a great value for a large portion of food. The meat is tender and I'm not sure what's in their sauce, but it's addicting. I love the side of potato chips, which are these thin potato slices with juuuust the right amount of crisp. I've actually came here just for the fries and falafels before but wanted to get a whole meal before posting a review so I can have something more to talk about. The falafels are good but I strongly prefer the fries at Benjyuda more. The fries here are like warm potato chips, thinly sliced. Today however, I was able to try their chicken AND steak shawarma rice bowl and I must say that it was quite delish. They charge for extra for hummus and baba ganoush if you go with the rice bowl, but they make up for it by giving you the softest pita bread you'll ever taste. Seriously, super soft and almost pillowy. And the rice with the meat had a nice curry taste to it. This is a perfect example of a place that is beyond crowded everyday around lunch time but the employees aren't rude and rushing you to death. My only complaint is that it's crazy loud in there and probably isn't a place to bring someone if in-depth talking is in the plans. In fact, I couldn't hear what the sauce/condiments lady was offering. I made out hot sauce and thought I saw her mouthed the words "garlic" something. So I got hot sauce and garlic sauce. I think. Naf Naf is one of my favorite lunch spots in the Loop! They're a fast casual Middle Eastern spot similar to Chipotle. The line can sometimes be out the door during lunch time, but they are very efficient and it moves pretty fast. Prices are pretty average for the Loop so $8-15 for lunch. I love their Chicken and Steak Sharwarma bowls and falafel. Their Pitas are always warm and fluffy and are the best in the city. Pro tip: do not get the pita sandwich and get the bowl. You get more food with the bowl and a pita is included so you can create your own sandwich. Their sauces have a lot of flavor and their veggies are very fresh. Overall, Naf Naf is one of my favorite lunch spots in the Loop. It is also one of the best bang for your bucks for the amount of food you get! read more

This used to be my favorite shawerma. I called it, affectionately, "robot shawerma" because the rotisseries had robot slicers with infrared sensors to detect and remove the perfectly roasted bits. It was always "just done" with a tinge of pink inside, and a touch of char on the outside. Today I saw the beef is now steamed in a hotel pan, imparting the pasty texture of a dog's breakfast. The pita is truly addicting. So much so that other Mediterranean food spots try to copy, but never duplicate. The meat here is not zabihah hilal so I've only had the falafel and it is definitely one of the better ones I've had of any restaurants, let alone a fast food place. The falafel sandwich is great and the chips are freshly fried making it a great combo. Don't try to go during peak lunch hours though as the line is out the door. Whether you get a pita or a bowl, all the selections are so good, and they are customizable. I recommend the falafel, and the hummus is totally worth the extra $1.50 charge! With your bowl, you will get a piece of pita bread, so you won't miss out on the fresh flakey goodness that naf naf is known for. Every item off the menu is filling too, so don't worry about not getting your money's worth. One thing about this location- it is busy. You may have to wait for a table. It was delicious. The fries? Meh. They look like thick potato chips and were soft and barely lukewarm. I'll skip those next time since I barely ate half of my order. I placed an order for veggie feast at the Washington location and this lady just wanted to send me to the billing counter even when I was not done placing my order. After putting veggies, she directly kept my order to the billing counter and I was like I need dressings too. I said I need Tahini, garlic and before I could finish it she kept my order again on the billing counter. I said I need 2 more sauces and while coming back to the dressing area she abused and said fuck bitch. I could read her lips. She was making all those faces as if I don't know how hard it is. Went back for dinner last night -- about 540p on a Wed and only a couple people eating in.. I didn't spot any of the owners, I wanted to chat and tell them how proud I was that they already have all these locations and another one opening on Michigan Ave!! You have made it my friends, from that little Taco Bell location to THIS! I got two bowls - one chicken kabob, one shwarama. They were both awesome, I mean the flavors from both meats along with my Israeli salad, pickles, tahini and rice were so good all together you really just have to experience it. I get fresh herbs and spices and tenderness and juicy and AH! i love it! I'm not sure that a pita came with a bowl all along, I think I may have heard or read that it didn't but you get one pita with your bowl now. So, it's all good. Still a bit pricier I think than the Naperville location, but typical for the Loop and worth it to me. Mediterranean food is my go-to since usually I try to eat healthy. I came upon this place near the office. It opened a few months ago after The Billy Goat Tavern closed-down. Apparently, this is a chain restaurant, but I've never heard of it until recently. Inside, the setup was similar to modern assembly line fast food places (think chipotle, Roti, etc). There were three of those rotating meat spigots. From what I can see, it was gyro lamb meat, chicken, and some other meat, perhaps pork. What was cool about these meat spigots was that it had an automated cutter, that did the cutting of the rotating meat for you. It was mesmerizing. Upon ordering, you had a choice of a plate or sandwich. I ordered the chicken schwarma sandwich and it was absolutely phenomenal. The bread was extremely fluffy and warm, the red cabbage salad that they stuffed in there was awesome, and the chicken was not dry at all. It was as good as other local favorite fast-food chains such as Pita Inn and roti, but I think the pita bread put it over them. I generally am not a bread person, but this bread was absolutely awesome. The price for a sandwich came out to be around $7, which is average for downtown food. But this will give me another solid choice to go to for lunch. read more
