We sat on the patio and it was a very nice temperature with all of the misters they have cooling the air. Or server was very professional and detailed asking for my choice of backup seltzer if they didn't have my favorite flavor. We started with the pork belly which was very crispy on all of the edges yet still had a lot of soft fat. Unfortunately the sweet brown sauce on it was only that, sweet and brown however totally devoid of any interesting flavor. With some garlic or hot pepper it would have been great. We salted and peppered the two pieces thoroughly and then they were pretty decent. The wings came out looks good however they really weren't cooked enough as the skin was seriously flabby so we waited for or server to return and asked for them to be cooked longer to cook out the fat. The came back very dark and now the meat was nearly falling off of the bones as it should be. The milanese was a tad small looking because it had not been pounded flat at all. It was like a regular size boneless chicken breast that was breaded and fried. The breading was seriously salty, so much so that the arugula and tomato salad placed on top was a necessary respite from all of the salt. What was strange was a truffle flavor added to the dish, maybe in the vinaigrette. It didn't go well with it and I wish I had known as I would have asked for it to be omitted. Am a little bummed at some of the menu changes. Gone is the "Not Your Grandpa's" pizza as well as the zucchini noodle super spicy chicken dish which I had ordered numerous times as it was delicious and really low carb. We will be back and we will make sure to ask for the wings well done. read more

Love that this place is very close to our home, and doesn't have the long wait and inconsistent service like other golf club restaurants. We got there at sunset and it was just magical. We came here to the golf range Saturday afternoon and ended up staying for dinner as well. This place is awesome! You could come here for date night alone without the golf. Great views and service. The pizza was the star of the show. I didn't get a picture but my husband ordered the whiskey cocktail and it came with golf iceballs inside! read more

Rossa Kitchen and Patio is an Italian style restaurant at McDowell Mountain Golf Club. Currently, the course is being reseeded, so it's closed until October 10th... but Rossa is still open! Hours are a bit shortened, kitchen opens at 1030 during the reseed. It's the perfect time to visit! I'm sitting on the patio enjoying a pizza and cocktails. I have the course and city views to myself along with the birds chirping, wind rustling the trees. I ordered the Not Your Grandma's pizza and it was a great combo of sweet and savory: spiced orange marmalade, crispy shallot, smoked bacon, burrata, and roasted pistachio. I'm a whiskey girl who has always loved a Lynchburg lemonade, so I really enjoy their version and bonus points for the name. The Dutton is a light mix of bourbon, lemonade, passion fruit, and cub soda. Not too sweet, but refreshing on a still 100° Arizona "fall" day. read more

Wow, we love Rossa Kitchen! It's the new restaurant at McDowell Mountain Golf Club. We finally have a good place to eat in our neighborhood by the golf course. Rossa has a new $30k Neopolitan gas and wood fired pizza oven, the thing is a beauty and makes killer pizza! I went to check out the new oven and ended up chatting with Randy, the new Chef who started there late last year. He knows a lot about Italian cuisine and cooking equipment! He was friendly and happy to show me his new pizza oven that has foot thick walls to maintain a steady temp of 800 degrees for tasty pizza. Randy makes his pizzas with semolina flour and they are good! He crafted some cool original pizza recipes. We ordered the Tito Cracked Pepper Pizza with Prosciutto. It was a treat and we can't wait to try the others. Also, our waiter Cameron was on it and the staff we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. We are glad the golf club upgraded their restaurant and launched this new menu. Rossa was busy when we were there, so obviously they are getting popular now, as they should. Rossa is a great getaway if you live in the neighborhood, with pizza worth a detour if you don't. Beyond the AMAZING pizza, the place has a friendly chef who cares. Our appetizer was the meatballs served in a marinara sauce. The sauce was spicy, which my wife doesn't tolerate. just after we had tried our first bites, the chef, Randy Bennett, checked in. When she told him about the spice, he asked her about her preferences and helped her navigate the rest of the menu. We landed on the filet mignon and the Show Me the Meat pizza. The steak was a perfect medium rare with an absolutely delicious potatoes/mushroom/onion side that was almost as flavorful as the main. But the real star was the pizza. We're spoiled in Phoenix with Chris Bianco and the people he's trained. Even by these high standards, Rossa is special. The toppings, cheese and sauce are all the high quality you'd expect on a local Neapolitan pie. But the crust is so good that I actually found myself looking forward to the ends of each slice. It's airy and soft and chewy and just crunchy enough to set off a nice contrast with the center. Wait staff was super friendly. read more
