Recently visited this place to buy some kids stuff like water bottles and tiffin boxes. They had a nice variety for both the items. The toys section was ok but I believe they have more options during the Christmas time. And I saw a lot of nice beauty products on sale. I didn't buy any, but the options were a lot. I bought a dress from them back in 2021 and I still have it, so the quality of the products is really nice. Overall, a nice spot to do some shopping for all age groups. The staff is friendly and they try to move the line quickly when lines are long. The pricing of most of the items is reasonable and you could find good deals if you try to find them. read more

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the Ross and Jarvis Avenue in Newark is so bad that they only had one checker with 100 customers waiting in line. This is ridiculous. They need to hire more people or shut the store down because as the season of giving and Christmas shopping, it shouldn't be this bad but it's bad Fremont and Newark are the same trash Ross whoever is the district manager needs to do something about this or don't even have a district manager if they can't run the store properly. read more

This is my first time at this location. I was able to find what I was looking for! There was a good selection of items. Service went well. We were purchasing an item with no price tag and I didn't find one that was exactly like it, so the employee had to locate one. They let me know that they chose a comparable item that was cheaper, which was great. read more

This Ross is pretty clean and organized; usually Ross is pretty hectic with many items not in the correct spot. You can find some hidden gems here; I found a really nice top and a cute maxi dress for a very reasonable price. My husband also found some oven mitts that had a really nice design on it. Was there for Father's Day. The store manager came out and screamed at a couple in front of everyone. She was on an absolute power trip and was so rude to a very nice couple who "got out of line" for a moment to grab something and tried to come back. Acting as though she had the ultimate authority on everyone. It was pathetic. I saw the whole thing. I was behind them, and I didn't care at all. Neither did any of the other customers because they (the Ross staff) were taking FOREVER to ring everyone up. There was two checkers and I waited at least 25 minutes in line with my daughter. Shame on you, whatever your name is. I hope you don't have to ever feel the embarrassment you put those poor people through yesterday. I really hope you have the day you deserve. I won't ever go back to that place. It's a dump with terrible customer service. Do better. read more

Do not go to this Ross store if you value your safety. I went into the store at 10:30am to buy an area rug that I had my eyes on yesterday (Tue 10% off senior day), but the line was too long. As I walked in this morning, the woman at the front register was screaming at yelling at a "customer". I thought the store had a looney working there; but the "looney" (her name is Veronica) turned out to be very bold and alert, as she screamed at two robbers who shared my favorite store. One male, one female, both blacks, ran out with their arms full of merchandise witnessed by me and all the other customers. I heard about this kind of act, watched them on YouTube videos, and now witnessed it firsthand. So, "What happened to the security guard at the store?", I asked the "manager. She said the security guards at all the Ross stores were discontinued in Nov; and the robbers must also know this decision by corporate management, who decided to sacrifice customer safety for more profit. You and I, their customers, will surely help finance the loss that the robbers took, in the form of price increase across the board. read more

I'm not much of a Ross fan. I hate the long lines, I hate the mess that is the store, I hate the hassle of shifting through rack after rack of mediocre items, & I absolutely cannot stand the time wasted because I always walk away empty handed. I accompanied my mom on a stroll and we made an impromptu visit. The store was jam packed due to the holiday season and the mess.... oh the mess!! Clothes were being trampled on, packages were ripped wide open, and the shoe racks were an absolute [tripping/falling] hazard. Granted, it is the holiday so what could I possibly expect?? Three stars because the employees were all working super hard in efficiently getting customers in and out. This particular Ross carried quite a few name brands [which was very surprising] and the security guy on duty was very alert & friendly. read more

This particular Ross is the nicest in the area. It's generally clean and organized. Special shout out for outstanding customer service today from Amanda. I purchased a large rug and a set of kitchen tongs a couple days ago. In my excitement over the rug, I forgot to take the tongs. I went back for them today and was slightly concerned they might not honor my receipt since there is no way for me to necessarily prove I left them there. Luckily Amanda was there today and she remembered me from the other night and had saved the tongs. She was friendly and helpful the other night, and just as friendly and helpful today. This type of professionalism and service seems more and more rare, especially in retail these days. So it's important to recognize. read more

This Ross is my favorite Ross in the area. The items that they have are always on trend and I feel like I always find gems at this location specifically. It's never a miss or too picked over, I feel like there is always something new or fun to look at! From home decor, to kitchenware, to shoes, to clothes, I found that this location had the best selection and the best layout as well. Its always clean and organized every single time that I come here. Just like any Ross, however, there could be times where the lines could be super long due to only a couple cashiers being on the floor. This doesnt affect anything for me because I really love this Ross and will always gravitate to this location because it hasnt let me down thus far, (hopefully I dont jynx anything haha) read more

Rats turn stupid if you don't move things around in their cage. I think people do too if they don't redecorate once in a while... so get down here and buy a new piece of furniture to stimulate both your mind and the economy. Lots of low prices for home goods and clothing. This stuff probably won't last forever but its trendy stuff that doesn't need to last forever. This is a rather large Ross branch, but the selection could use some work! There are a ton of empty shelves and limited selection of clothes around the store. I came on two separate weeks hoping that there would be restocked shelves but sadly it was the same. Regardless, the store is clean and not many people were there when I was shopping so it was Covid-friendly for the most part! I do wish they had a sanitizing station at the entrance rather than having to walk over to the cashier register to sanitize but it's not a big issue. This store has workers that are very kind and quick to help. I had no problems when returning items as well as purchasing. The only reason I am docking 1 star is for the lack of restocked shelves and clothes -- is this store closing down? read more

Retail madness! Well, the discount department store kind anyways. Racks of clothes for what seems like forever. Came in for rock salt. Found all sorts of salts. Bought some, then discovered that I have some at home. Anyways, I felt lucky that I actually found for what I was looking. A bit of chaos in this type of store. I went to Ross to purchase pants. There's no ability to use dressing rooms due to COVID. So I can't try anything on. I bought 2 pair pants. I returned them because they didn't fit right. When I returned then, I picked up 2 more to try at home. The salesgirl said "do you want exchange or refund? I said whatever is easier for you." So she rang it up as an exchange. Well the 2 I bought didn't work either. Again- I can't try them on at the store!! I returned them and was told I could only get store credit. I said why? I want my credit card credited. The manager, who looks like she's 18, told me "it's because you did an exchange". I was like what???? I was never told I couldn't get my credit card credited if I did an exchange. I've never heard of anything so ludicrous. There were people in line and I didn't want to cause a further scene. But ROSS- you lost my business and I hope other people read this and avoid ROSS Newark. Now I have a stupid "store credit" that I don't want to use. Makes me sick. Don't shop at ROSS. This occurred 10/5/20. I tried contacting corporate ROSS and got nowhere. No phones. Email wouldn't go through. read more

If you need a quick makeup trip. You cannot get to Sephora or other retailers. This location sells department store cosmetics. The store itself needs to be fully recovered and organized. When I walked through the place it could be a hazard. That's why I put this place for three stars. If it was cleaned up. I would jumped it up to 4 or 5 stars. I don't know what the deal is with Newark stores just closing whenever they want. Ross said they closer an hour earlier then what is posted on their site. This is for July 22nd on a Friday. So whatever 2 ladies were working there that night were very rude and had major teenage attitude problem. Located at the site of the former Drug Emporium (who ever shopped there?!?), I was excited to see Ross moving in. Checking it out, it seems like your typical Ross chain, but with less merchandise. We're talking lonely shelves and sparsely stocked racks. I find that Ross is a great place to pick up housewares, but I never find any clothes here. And their shoes tend to be made with man-made materials! They used to carry shoes by Kenneth Cole (which I love), but alas, no more. Conveniently located in between OSH and Safeway, parking is not a problem. I hope they get more stock here soon! read more

Maybe I'm being nice with my stars, but this Ross wasn't nearly as bad as the one in San Jose on Capital or the new one on Curtner. Those are way messier. This location inside a mall I thought was cool. Yes the lines were kind of long, but they just opened another cashier to bring down the lines. I've never been to a Ross that had a fast line, just because their prices are so low and you are buying Macy's discontinued item. I was overall happy with this place, minus the crying kids. The purse isle wasn't pack and this location had enough walking space in it, so you weren't bumping butts with other people. Bonus a star for that. read more

I've been to this Ross a few times. It's a bit on the smaller size than many of the other Ross's. It's located inside the Newark Market Place Shopping Center, on the other side of Safeway. Selection varies from time to time, not always a good variety of things but here and there you may find something interesting. Checkouts can sometimes be a long wait, but other than that service is good. read more

This location is brand spanking new so you won't find a huge selection, but I can tell they are slowly building up their inventory. Like other Ross stores you'll find affordable past season styles for the season you're currently in. Their coats and jackets are good selections and business wear is also a plus. My whole reason for going there is their clearance section! I paid $14 for a bedroom window curtain, spaghetti server, curtain hooks and a pair of pot holders. Spankin' good deal! I was very impressed with my good findings that I'm ready to go back next week. If you need any kind of home accessory or just a fancy toilet bowl scrubber, they have a ton haha. read more

I'm a regular customer here at this store and today tall Indian lady with glasses for some weird reason, she started following me around and how I knew she was because I would go back and forth just to make sure I wasn't making any assumptions and sure enough she was following me and she started talking to her co-worker in a different language which made me feel really uncomfortable and made me wonder if I wasn't an African American man if she would have done this actions, that made me feel question myself if I should even be spending my dollar with the store and I will just have to go to another store. I tried Ross again as I was in the neighborhood, and needed some slippers. I'm happy to say they really cleaned up the place since my last visit. The racks of clothes were organized by size correctly, and no merchandise was on the floor. I found the slippers that I was looking for at less than half the regular price, plus some non clothing items I couldn't pass up. The only drawbacks that I noticed is that there aren't many employees available on the sales floor, and expect a line at the checkout. read more

Yes! This is the 6th consecutive day that I've posted a review. I want some of my friends to know that I don't have a life too. (Only God knows when this loser's streak will be through.) Ahem. My mom has a life. Her parties are simply awesome (I'm not even exaggerating). Last Wednesday she picked up some cupcake holders for her upcoming Halloween party. The Halloween items are to the right when you enter (I assume that Thanksgiving and Christmas items will be in the same area later). Some of them are pretty cool (I like that the brooms are both colorful and useful). An employee provided her input (my mom was talking out loud and trying to choose between 2 items). She was friendly, but it was weird that she was serving as a security guard. Another store, Pretty & Plump, comes to mind. Anyway, if anyone ran out with some items, she wouldn't have caught them. (The normal security guards are very fit and able.) Good Hours: Mon-Sat 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m.-7 p.m. There are 5 blue chairs to the right of the metal detector (they're simple, but sturdy). My dad and I sat down when we were tired (there were 5 of us, and we were in the store for awhile). There's a small jewelry section. You're asked to take a number (I don't know if there are ever crowds, but this is very smart if there happens to be one). This location is better than most, but that's not saying much. Still, I applaud the employees here for working hard and keeping the store clean. There's a solid selection of pots and pans, as well as items for the home (ex: candles; desk decor; ottomans; guns; dynamite). There's even a decent selection of headphones here. There's usually only 2 registers open, but the lines tend to move quickly (some of the negative reviews for this location were written years ago). There's a good selection of men's and women's clothing (the clothes are organized and priced well). The Children's Section: My wife and I didn't see any clothes of interest, and there aren't many toys. A lot of Transformers are being sold now. I got lucky when I played with one (I was reminded of Godzilla when I pressed a button). The long and loud noise didn't wake up my sleeping son (I didn't take any chances- I grabbed the stroller and got going as fast as I could). The store is pretty big. Some areas are tight, but there's plenty of room to walk around overall. This Ross is located in the Safeway's plaza at the far end. You would not see it here unless you were a local. Since only locals know of this place the best, the selection of merchandise is much more to choose from than other Ross stores. Meaning, it's not as empty and more to choose from. Still, it's a small store compared to say the San Ramon or Las Vegas locations. I am still not the type to go search for clothes for hours. I just don't have the patience. I would rather shop and have a bunch with different sizes to choose from. None the less, they offer decent prices and good discounts for named brand shoes or clothes or for presents when you are on a budget. read more

THE LINE HERE SUCKS! If there is ever more than 2 people in line and a busy store I walk away. cashiers are paid by the hour why should they go any faster? The worst place to shop, I always had a worst experience. Brought a dinning set on 30 piece, which has only 24 piece. Now I have already opened it and I need to pack all that again go and return it. I've been here twice now and it sucked both times. So I'm done with this location. I went when the store first opened in the morning so it would be stocked and not messed up by the shoppers being careless. I was so disappointed. The selection they had was crap in every department.
