As I was packing for our East Coast adventure, I was thinking fall weather clothing: boots, beanies, light jackets.....oh but on our last two days, mother nature said NOPE, I am bringing the heat! It was hot and we were slightly dying, as we passed Sweet Elizabeth Jane, not only was their storefront display soooo cute, but we could feel the AC blasting when we passed by. Seriously, this was the reason why we went in. Not knowing what to expect, I was surprised. The store was two floors, but not only did it have the cute souvenirs and Christmas decor that was visible as we passed by, but it had cute clothes and accessories. What a gem of a store....it was boutique plus, plus!!! This store has my heart. It was hard to narrow down my shopping since I had to be mindful that I had a carry on and personal item to travel back home. I couldn't resist and decided to purchase items and just ship them to myself back home. I bought a shawl/jacket in the most wonderful Olive Green color that is perfect for walking and driving in. I also got the softest scarf. Customer service was top notch. I saw this scarf on display on a mannequin and I asked if it came in different colors and they went to go look since I am not a big fan of the browns in my attire choices. I got a gray/black combo scarf. Since we had cooled down significantly as we were shopping, we got hungry and asked if we could place the items on hold since we didn't want to carry our purchases until the end of our exploration and headed back to the car. I gave them my name, they placed the items on hold and we went to eat. When we came back, the store associate remembered my name and that our items were on hold. She also told me that they have a website with many items for sale from their actual sales floor that could be shipped and proceeded to tell me how the store got started. She wrapped the items with care and off we were. Prices are completely reasonable for a store of this caliber. This store could easily fit into the vibe of Stanford Shopping Center, Santana Row, downtown Carmel, etc.....but I KNOW that this place will blow any rivals strictly due to their fair pricing, storefront size and their unique items. Upon arrival I headed towards the grocery section where everything appeared clean and stocked. I found everything I needed except a couple cleaning items which are out of stock everywhere. When I first got to the store the checkout lines were outrageous. I dreaded getting in line when it was time. In the few minutes it took me to shop, they got everything sorted out and must have opened some more checkout lanes. I only had one person in front of me. This was very noticeable how they handled checkout as long lines in other stores don't seem to phase the employees into making arrangements for their customers. This Target is a great spot but you may have to deal with an obnoxious panhandler or two in the lot.

I decided, and to my better judgment, to walk the aisles without a cart to lessen my chances of impulse buying and it worked! I did eyeball a few items that interested me, but resisted the urge. They had an extensive inventory of home goods, food items, and pet supplies. I did notice that in this location, the selection of furniture was not as plentiful as in the past. Could have been what was available during my visit. The staff were pleasant and provided good service. All in all, I enjoy going to HomeGoods and on my next visit will indeed grab a shopping cart!

There were items I found in one store that were not here, but I did find a painting here that was the other half of the painting I got in the other store that the other store did not have. It's noticeable if you're an out of towner like me. Also, this location (not sure if it's a Baltimore thing) doesn't provide bags for free. If you require a bag, you have to pay for a paper one. This location also doesn't have self checkout and there's only 1 person behind the register who moves slowly, so the wait time can be rather long. Lastly, there's an on going message on the radio/loudspeaker that cautions against shoplifting rather than playing music. Lol it's just a different store.

I brought in a brand-new pair of Badgley Mischka shoes (retail value $139) that I received as a gift but couldn't wear because they were too small. They offered me $9, which I declined--no big deal. I planned to sell them elsewhere. The issue happened when an employee placed a pricing sticker directly on the shoe. When she removed it, it ripped part of the finish and left behind paper and adhesive residue. I pointed it out immediately, but I was told it was "just paper" and that it would come off. When I got home, I realized the residue wasn't coming off, and the sticker had actually damaged the shoe. I returned to the store to explain what happened. The owner looked at them and told me it was "no big deal" because the damage was barely noticeable. She offered me $40 for the shoes instead of taking responsibility for the damage her employee caused. These shoes were brand new, still in the box, and were only damaged because of how they were handled in the store. What disappointed me most wasn't just the damage--it was the complete lack of accountability. There was no apology, no acknowledgment that they had caused the problem, and no real effort to make it right. When I asked if they could offer $50 instead, I was told they would lose money. At that point, it was clear the focus was on protecting their profit rather than taking care of a loyal customer. I'm still shocked by how this situation was handled. A simple apology and an effort to make things right would have gone a long way.

To be fair, maybe what I brought truly wasn't a good fit. However, I wasn't given any additional feedback or much sense of appreciation for coming in, so I'm probably just not the kind of seller or customer they're looking for.
