Air conditioner stoped working in the evening. Called Ross and Witmer and Michael S. took the call. I am an elderly woman living alone with a med condition. Michael said he would be out at 6am in the morning.at exactly 6am the door bell rang and it was Michael. He checked everything out and fixed the problem. He installed a new thermostat and set it up so I could understand how to use it. Ross and Witmer should be glad they have such good employee. This company came highly recommended by a friend whose husband is in the AC business. I had a couple instances in the past year and they needed to take a look at my HVAC and got it back on track. They can usually schedule service fairly quickly. The other terrific service they offer is doing energy audits. Their auditor, Brandon, is friendly, polite, and punctual. The energy audit is comprehensive: they go under your crawl space, check ducts, go into the attic and take a read on the insulation, and they also check indoors for drafts. Within the week, you'll receive recommendations and quotes on what you can do to make your home more energy efficient. Some of the repairs, they can do. They do not clean air vents or ducts, so you'll need to find another provider for that service. read more

They service uptown! Something not many providers can claim. I had issues with my A/C and called my usual service provider. They concluded that the evap coil needed to be replaced. I agreed to their quote, but never heard back until 2 months later after multiple calls. After a few weeks of waiting, I gave Ross & Witmer a call. They came out and came to the same conclusion. I authorized the work and put a deposit down. A week later the part was delivered and ready for install. Scott & Johnathan were great! Explained the work, were prompt and courteous. I had an issue with my furnace. The service tech, Jonathan, was the absolute best! He took the time to explain everything to me. He did not try to rush through anything. He stuck around for a while after everything was fixed to make sure everything kept working properly. It is rare to find this level of service now adays. I will definitely call Ross & Witmer (& hopefully can have Jonathan) for any future repair needs/service/upgrades I may need. read more

shelled out over $14k for a completely new ventilation system and hvac unit. it took them about a week to complete which wasnt really the problem...the problem is that they didnt do a bunch of things correctly and it failed inspection before it even started. didnt hear from them until later the following day after inspection and they didnt even know they failed (eventhough inspector sent them a report). they were even here the day before inspection bc they had wires exposed from unit to our main electrical box!!! then once we got them on the phone to talk about their failures, they scheduled us for 8am the next day. 815am comes and they call and say they are going to be an hour late!!! still waiting for technician but do not have high hopes about us passing inspection again since they had two tries and failed already and are now late for their 3rd try. extremely dissatisfied! read more

Years ago, a co-worker recommend R&W for my A/C issues. They were great, technicians friendly, helpful, on time and reasonably priced. I even used their service contract but then it only saved me $5.00 so I quit that. But over the years, they have gotten much more expensive. For instance, what they performed several years ago, the exact same thing they had done before, all the sudden went up. I understand price increase but close to seventy dollars and the only thing that changed was they started using a hand held computer for the invoices. Ok, I get it, not happy about it but I get it. They were here 10-31-2016. They were kind enough to squeeze me in their schedule because I was without any A/C and the weather would just not cool down yet. Anyway, the bill was $612.00 with a $28.00 discount included. I was flabbergasted. Look the system is 13 years old again I get that-the diagnostic was reasonable $99, coolant, I understand cost is thru the roof now $354. But I was surprised that removing water from the overflow drain pan was $159. I had referred my sister to them as she was interested in getting their contract but after I spoke to her she cancelled the appointment. Don't get me wrong, I agreed to the costs but in the future, I will have to find someone else to help me because I am on a fixed income and so is my sister. We just can't afford these prices. My husband and I contacted R&W last summer when we began having cooling issues. We were told two things: that our system, which had been replaced in 2011 by another contractor, had been installed improperly -- "backwards" was the term they used--and that, as a result, we were losing substantial amounts of coolant. We asked R&W for a full evaluation of our system, and were advised that we replace existing units, "reinstall" the outdoor air handlers, and install a PVC pipe from the drip pan in our attic and onto the roof. We did this at a cost of $15,000, and while the company assured us that this would resolve all our problems, it was the beginning of much bigger nightmare. Our brand new system is STILL leaking coolant and when we contacted Ross & Witmer, the company refused to repair the problem and told us that we couldn't "prove" that they had done the work to our system. We've had to hire another company to come behind R&W to repair their work--at a cost of $1800. If you have the time and are willing to stand over their team and videotape them while they work on your system, you might be ok. But if you're looking for a company that stands behind its work, you should look elsewhere. read more
