We had a great experience working with Ross and Jacks on several landscaping and drainage projects around our home. They connected our downspouts directly to the underground drainage system, installed walkways along both sides of the house, and completed new landscaping in our front yard, including a separate tree and planting area. The finished work looks great and has made the property much more appealing and functional. What impressed us most was their attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond. They surprised us by replacing a dead section of our lawn with sod from another area, spray-painted new piping to match our existing downspouts, and identified an underground drainage issue that was affecting our sump-pump discharge. Because other work was already underway, they offered practical, low-cost options for correcting the problem. The team was thoughtful, resourceful, and clearly took pride in doing the job correctly. We would definitely recommend Ross and Jacks to anyone looking for landscaping, hardscaping, or drainage work in the western Chicago suburbs. read more

We have been Ross & Jacks customers for over 8 years. They took over our weekly landscaping maintenance from a large, well-rated company and we immediately saw a huge improvement in the way our property looked. Their crew is meticulous, thorough and reliable and our property looks great. Over the years we have also used them for other things. They do all our landscape design, plant selection and installation. We also used them for a large hardscape project. The biggest project they tackled for us involved working with our plumber and the city of Elmhurst. They handled all permitting, dug and built a drywell in our front lawn and routed the overflow from it underground into the storm sewer in the middle of the street. This company is extremely professional, experts in what they do and above all, we trust them. They are also a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top quality, full-service landscape provider. read more

We've been using Ross & Jack's Landscaping for weekly mowing, edging, weed removal, and seasonal cleanups, and they have been outstanding. Over the years, we've tried several other landscaping companies, and none of them compare to the quality, reliability, and service we receive from Ross & Jack's. Their team is consistently professional, thorough, and dependable. The lawn always looks great, and I especially appreciate that they take the time to hand-pull weeds and pay attention to the details that other companies often overlook. Their spring and fall cleanups are incredibly comprehensive and leave our property looking its absolute best. The crew is always friendly, courteous, and hardworking. Management is equally impressive, with excellent communication and responsiveness. They are proactive, easy to reach, and always ensure everything is handled smoothly. read more

Ross & Jacks just completed a full landscape project for our family here in Elmhurst. It included plants, mulch, stone for draining, grading, brick work and full front yard and parkway sod. We could not be more thrilled with the results. From the first meeting to discuss project, to design, through execution they were EXCEPTIONAL! Their team was very professional and communication was very consistent and easy. Our family can't say enough good things about our experience and WOW does it look great. They will be the ONLY company we do business with going forward. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

We have been using Ross & Jack's for the past 4 years. The one word I could describe them with is CONSISTENT. They are there when they say they are going to be, they do what they say they are going to do, they are up front with costs/contacts and they respect your time. These guys want to give you a nice property. They are priced reasonable with like landscapers in the area. Also what we really like is that they are respective of your time. They will call if running late and if you need something done differently they will always listen to you and get back to you timely. Initially we had them do replacement planting for shrubs and added additional perennials to our flower beds. They were great and explained why the current shrubs were not taking to that area (too compacted ground which our previous landscaper did not indicate but kept replacing them with cost). They dug out the "bad" ground and replaced it and added the new shrubs (which have lasted all these years). We have used them every year since to add perennials (Mike has some great ideas) and when our local lawn mowing person had medical issues we worked with Mark, the owner, to have them take on managing the property... mowing, mulching, weeding, spring and fall clean ups. Their crew is very good. If there is something we specifically need work on we just email Mark and he makes sure the crew takes care of it. We are glad we found them and plan to continue to use them in the future. Nothing like consistency to make your yard shine. read more

As Ive said previously, trust is the most important element when selecting a contractor. I recently had a nightmare experience with a concrete contractor. Luckily, Michael with Ross and Jacks works in conjunction with Louis from Beautiful Stones and they were able to help me out. I had a very unsightly crack in my driveway. Ross and Jacks/Beautiful Stones demoed the existing concrete and laid a fresh concrete driveway. Im very pleased with how it turned out. Furthermore, the cost was competitive. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. My wife and I reached out to Ross and Jack Landscaping for a straightforward spring clean-up and weekly mowing. What followed was two weeks of Mark, the president, trying to upsell us into a sweeping overhaul of our yard -- framing routine landscaping as urgent "must-dos" to get our house in "working order." In a group chat with my wife and me (which I'm happy to share), Mark pivoted from answering our questions about the quote to bragging about being a "rich guy," lecturing us on wealth, and suggesting we take out a loan to fund more landscaping work with him. That is not a quote I'm paraphrasing for effect -- that is what the president of this company put in writing to a young couple who asked him to mow their lawn. The breaking point: Mark insisted it was mandatory that we let him rip out every bush along the back of our house. When my wife politely asked whether she could try to save them herself this spring and have that line removed from the quote, his response was an attitude shift followed by "I quit" -- at 10 p.m., the night before our $3,000 spring clean-up was scheduled to begin. He has not responded since. I'm a small business owner myself and I do not enjoy writing this. But if you are a homeowner in Elmhurst looking for a landscaper, you deserve to know how this company treats paying customers before you waste your time. Look elsewhere. read more

We had a multi purpose project. We wanted a patio in our side yard. We need a dry well put in to solve a plumbing issue and we wanted some new bushes to deter our puppy from jumping the fence. Mike came out promptly and provided a creative detailed design, addressing all of our needs. He committed to work with the city to get this approved. and he did just that. He was with us thru every step of the project, making sure we were comfortable with every decision. The work was completed recently and we love, love , love this new space. It is truly an oasis for us. All of the plants, bushes. and trees are spectacular. The pathway from the front door to the patio is perfect. The patio is beautiful. Mike knew which colors would work with our property. Also Mike worked with our irrigation contractor to ensure that their changes could be incorporated into the yard Without hesitation we recommend Ross and Jacks. This is a high quality operation!! Thanks Mike and team for the fine job!! read more

If I could give more stars I would! From design to the installation, everything was so easy. The level of service and quality at Ross & Jacks is top notch and the staff really goes above and beyond. Michael really listened to what I was looking for in the design process and the crew was meticulous and respectful of my home/property throughout the entire time. I never realized how much this project would impact the look of my house. This new look makes my "new" house feel more like mine and less like the previous owner's. I have had strangers compliment the work and noticed people taking pictures as well. read more

Was out looking for a company to trim some way overgrown bushes in front of the house , was refereed to this company by a friend of a friend . They came out told them what I WANTED done , and agreed on a price ( since then found out I way over paid ) and then waited for 2 weeks for someone to finally show up to do the work . I was not home but My daughter and Mother were . The crew did the work and left , no letting them know they were done , I was told I would have to pay the crew CASH , but now I see they accept credit cards , but they left and I guess Michael was gonna stop by later to see their work , get my opinion on it and collect payment seeing how this was the first(and last) time using their service . So a week or so goes by , no phone calls , no emails , no stop by, nothing . I did get a bill in the mail just saying payment is due upon receipt , no note asking how they did , how does it look , how I am with it nothing ... Payment was made and mailed out Immediately , The last thing I need is someone bugging me for payment on a very bad service rendered. But today I get a " Thank you " card from them , a little too late for that . I asked for the two bigger bushes to be cut back to the divider along the yard and where the bushes were , They weren't, they still hang over by about 2 feet past where I wanted them cut too. The same was with the two by the sidewalk , , I wanted them behind the pavers so the sidewalk would be clear to walk , Again , they weren't still over the sidewalk in anyone's walking way . They also trimmed along the house were some of the taller bushes, were rubbing against the house and wires , what was done was a hack job and not even made to look decent. Now some people I have read reviews about this company from other customers , who swear they are the greatest company since Edward Scissorhands , Sorry I do not agree or would even refer them , It seems they care more about the big dollar yards than smaller yards and trimmings . It is like once they get your money , they are gone , don't care about their work or the customer's requests, and are never coming back ... ever . I hope this review helps anyone interested in their services to have second thoughts about using them read more

We 100% got it right with Ross and Jack's. The time came for a major landscaping job. It entailed over 110 plantings, front yard to back. The backyard cement walkway and patio needed to be removed and redesigned. We knew it was going to be a big financial commitment so we wanted to get it right. Ultimately we relied heavily on Yelp reviews and staying with a local company. Mike Spatola came out and created a great design. He listened to us and executed a beautiful plan. He was completely honest and his quote itemized every single thing. We knew exactly how much we were paying for each individual plant and piece of sod. He introduced us to Luis with Beautiful Stones, Inc to do the cement work. The Ross and Jack's crew were a phenomenally hardworking group in cold, rain and even snow. Mike was right on top of everything to ensure we were happy. When it came time for the cement work, Mike was there to coordinate with Luis. Everything went seamlessly and the outcome was perfection. My wife and I can't praise Ross and Jack's enough. We would recommend them to our family and friends with zero hesitation. If your main priority is to get a job done right with a quality outcome, they will deliver. read more

I can't say enough about the CHARACTER of the people who work for Ross and Jack's. The other day, my parents in Elmhurst (in their late 70s and early 80s with significant health problems) were outside trimming their bushes on uneven ground and struggling. One of their employees was working across the street and offered to help when he was done with his current work. He came over and finished the other half that my parents hadn't done yet in 5 minutes - it took my parents over 30 on the side they did. When my mom called to tell me the story, she was crying she was so overwhelmed with gratitude at his kindness and generosity. When I told her to call the company and tell them what their employee had done for them, it took her literally 30 tries because she kept crying so hard she had to hang up before leaving the message. I wish I could mention that man by name here, to give him the proper credit he deserves, but my parents never got his name. I can only hope R&J share this review with him. Thank you, sir, truly. And thank you to R&J for hiring people like that. Not only was what your employee did an incredible act of kindness, but it was GREAT WORK. My mom said "the only bad part about it is that now the side we did ourselves looks like trash by comparison". He's now on her prayer list, by the way. I promise you that the next time they need landscaping work of any sort, you will be getting their call. You and your people EARNED it. Thank you again! read more

We worked with Michael to revamp the landscaping in our front yard. He ripped out the overgrown bushes, ground cover, and retaining wall, then planted a completely new landscaping concept in front with a beautiful new retaining wall that really complements the unique design of our house. My landscaping that was previously overgrown and dated is now clean, fresh and cheerful. I am thrilled with the result. Michael was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I got quotes from three different companies, all of which came recommended. I went with Michael because he was extremely responsive, took the time to explain what would work/what wouldn't, and he provided a thoughtful rationale for all of his ideas. He also assured me that our new landscaping would be custom to the style of our house and not cookie cutter. I have gotten so many compliments on the results, and my new plants - now several months old - are blooming and flourishing! I would recommend Michael and Ross & Jack's to anyone. read more

My wife and I just completed our first experience with Ross and Jack's, and could not be happier. We dealt with Michael throughout, and he could not have been more helpful, communicative, and timely. After our initial conversation discussing ideas for our yard, I was not feeling it, so I asked for more options. Michael had a variety of additional options ready for me in short order, and we picked the one that worked best for us and moved forward. Everything was detailed and itemized in our written estimate. When it came time for the work to be done, their communication was, once again, timely and appreciated. They set up the visit from JULIE, and emailed the day or two before the project began to confirm timing. They arrived each day right on time. The project itself was completed efficiently and, most importantly at a very high quality level. The crew of workers did a really great job, and were always actively attending to some aspect of the project. Michael stopped by multiple times during the project to make sure things were on track and to answer any questions. Hiring landscapers can be a bit of a crap shoot, but based on our first experience dealing with Michael and Ross and Jack's, you really can't go wrong with them. Thank you to everyone who helped with our project! read more

Last fall we were searching for a landscaping company to help us with a pretty big landscaping project. The project included backyard landscaping, cleaning up and creating flower beds along the border of the backyard, planting 10 arborvitae's and 2 hydrangeas that we provided, front yard landscaping, planting over 60 shrubs and trees that they provided throughout the yard, and installing about 1 ton of outcropping stone throughout the yard as well. It was certainly a big task, and Mike and his team were able to squeeze our project in before the end of the season. Mike was very quick with communicating making it easy and he was very knowledgeable with making suggestions about which plants would be best for our project. At the same time, they were very accommodating to the type of plants we wanted installed as well. Mike and the crew planned to get the project done in 2 days, but they got their entire crew together to finish it all in 1 day, which turned out perfect because it snowed the next day. We highly recommend Ross and Jack's Landscaping as we were very happy with our experience with them, and look forward to working with their team more with future projects. Thanks Mike and team! read more

Ross & Jack's Landscaping exceeded all my expectations with our recently designed landscaping. Michael & and his crew were exceptional throughout the entire process as we started planning the redesign last Fall and communicated throughout the Winter tweaking the design. He was patient as well as provided helpful ideas and suggestions along the way. The team did the install earlier this week and we couldn't be more pleased. Everything from the removal, repositioning of bushes, installing new bushes and leveling and seeding the yard went flawlessly. His team even rebuilt a paver wall that the last company did not install correctly. A few years ago I lost me local landscaper who primarily focused on grass cutting and weeding. After trying multiple landscaping companies, I found my front yard turning yellow from the dandelions and back yard turning purple from the Creeping Charlie entering from the surrounding areas. I contracted Ross and Jacks as that time and they came with a full team of people the first time out. They trimmed the trees and overgrown shrubs, got the mulch down in early summer and treated the yard for various weeds. No matter what they always show up and bushes and shrubs get trimmed when needed, without me asking them about it. They have someone who inspects the work and provides updated as needed. Mark and his team did a great, detailed job with our cleanup. They communicated promptly with us, provided follow-up, and worked hard.

Do yourself a favor, and hire Ross & Jack's immediately! You won't be disappointed! We recently moved into a new home. The prior owners were elderly and hadn't done work in our large backyard for many years, allowing the yard to become an overgrown, weeded, dense mess. Being new to this, we needed some help getting an idea of what to do and how to do it - and Michael was the perfect person to do it! Michael came out to our yard, looked around, listened to our hopes and planned and executed a vision far beyond my expectations! I was upfront about our budget and he worked with me to find a great solution that provides an excellent foundation for the years to come. Mark Seraphin received my request through Angie's List. He said he would come out. He later left me a message saying he "did a drive by and we aren't going to be able to help you". Considering most of the work was in my back yard, he was obviously not being truthful. Their website advertises free estimates, which they refused to do. Mr. Seraphin stated in a response to my review on another platform that I had a time limit for when the work should be done. That is false. We never had a conversation. We hired Ross & Jack's to redo our backyard a couple years ago. They installed a new paver patio, sod and landscaping throughout. The end result was beautiful. It truly transformed our yard into an oasis. Michael, who oversaw the project, was fantastic to work with. He was responsive, had good ideas, and managed expectations and the project well. The team that performed the work was hard working, professional and courteous. While I wouldn't consider them a low cost or budget provider, their pricing is fair and they certainly provide good value. The quality of the work is excellent and having someone who is that responsive is worth it! We appreciated the work that they did on our backyard so much that we will also be using them to do our hardscape and landscaping in our front yard this year. In addition, we switched our landscape/yard maintenance to Ross & Jack's this year and couldn't be happier. They may cost a little more, but are absolutely worth it. I've hired the typical "mow and blow" guys who just do the deed without thinking about it, and Ross & Jacks are not like them. I hired them to clean up the disaster another landscaping company left my lawn in and it has already recovered thanks to their work. These guys pull weeds - most guys won't do this. If your yard is waterlogged, they will assess the situation and come back later if they need to (not just mow the soggy lawn leaving muddy tracks). They take care of the planting beds that others won't touch. It's also the little things - they see a bare patch, they sprinkle seed starter without even asking. By hiring these guys you basically hand over the keys to your yard, and they take care of it as if they were the ones living there. Very hard to find people like this - I've had to babysit and ultimate fire every other landscaper I've hired because the others simply didn't care. read more
