Got the mojo de ajo hoping for garlic shrimp but it was very bell pepper forward. Tasted like they also used pineapple juice for the sauce. Horchata and jamaica were standard. Driving through Aberdeen around dinner time, we consulted Yelp and decided on Rose's. My mom was very hesitant when she saw the tiny restaurant that resembles someone's home. The inside wasn't much more to look, but that was fine because the food MORE than made up for it and service was great. We both had the pick three, but we could have EASILY split one. My husband and I set off to have dinner at Rose's Taqueria, but the original shop has been moved to 825 Simpson. At first we were so sad thinking they closed for good, but I called their phone number and they gave me the new address. We had a wonder taco dinner last night and my husband had their birria taco and a couple of carne tacos, he was in food heaven. I had chicken tacos and we shared a puffy taco. Their food is deliciously authentic and is my favorite stop for tacos. Their new location is wonderful and it looks like they will have room to grow which is very exciting. Really lazy cheap (not in price) experience. Ask for a soft drink and you get an unopened plastic bottle of Coke or 7up or whatever. No waters or glass on the table. Hard no flavor tortilla chips. What tasted like jarred store bought "salsa". Giant burrito with 80% rice, a little beef and no flavor. Chicken en mole with whole pieces of chicken with rubbery skin. This place is a huge WOW! I cannot express enough how happy we are to have found this restaurant. They just moved to this location so the restaurant walls are still bit bare but this place is freshly painted and clean! They were extremely busy when we arrived with a full restaurant and to go orders. We were greeted and our order taken quickly. Our food was soooo delicious. The beef was seasoned to perfection, refried beans perfect and rice great. Those Puff Tacos were something we had never heard of and let me tell you, total HIT here! The chicken was breast meat and seasoned to perfection. The home made corn tortillas were so yummy! We have lived here one year and never tried this place. If you are looking for fancy dining. This is not it. The front is unassuming and a little bleak. The inside could use a fresh coat of everything and feel much more kept up. If you are super OCD, it will bother you. But, they are all things I am willing to look past if the food is rock solid and delicious. A bunch of good reviews and when I saw puffy tacos, it was a done deal. Puffy tacos are a Tex Mex specialty with crispy shells and soft interiors. A bit labor intensive and delicate so if you find a place willing, I'd recommend it. Oh, eat them quickly or they do turn to mush quick! The shells were perfect here filled with chicken which I did not like. I am sensitive to warmed over flavor and couldn't get past that. If the awesome owner didn't show up with a plate from heaven, meaning a birria taco with cheese that would make you think you were in LA, this would have been a definite three. But that birria taco was perfection. Some are way too rich but this one, perfect! If I am in the area, I'll head straight for that birria and not look back! Ignore anyone who is nitpicking about the interior design of this place and rejoice that there is a quality taco spot in Washington. Having formerly lived near the border in both AZ and TX, I've found it very hard to find quality Mexican food since moving to WA - that is, until today. Sure, the interior of the restaurant isn't dressed up like some caricatured nightmare, but if that's what you're looking for you don't deserve the tacos this place has to offer anyway. I went for a trio of Tacos Al Pastor and they were as good as any I've had on the border. The salsas are great, the meat is extremely well-seasoned, the tortillas are wonderful, and the onion, cilantro, and lime are all fresh. My only complaint is that this place is so far from my home in Seattle. That won't keep me from coming back whenever I'm passing through Hoquiam, though! read more

This is a gem of a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I really think the 5 stars of rating is justified just for the taste, the presentation and for the uniqueness of how the food is prepared. The puffy tacos and sopes reminds me of Indian fry bread meets Mexican food. The flavor is there and there's a good balance with the crunch and freshness of the vegetables. My kids raves about their tacos and quesadillas. My daughter said she has the best meat- marinated pork. I think they might serve birria but not quite sure. We really wish we live closer to patronize this gem. The restaurant may be a hole in the wall but don't be put off. The employees work very hard, too. read more

Hidden gem in downtown Hoquiam, with good food (particularly the sopes). It's the typical hole-in-the-wall Mexican place that is short on decor (some basic booths and green walls, space heater to stay warm in the winter), but high on happy tummy food. The ladies were friendly and make all the food to order. It was quiet on a Tuesday at lunch, but appreciated the hospitality. read more

Received 1 Chile Relleno, (cheese stuffed green chili) and a scoop each of refried beans and rice for over $17. A couple of tortillas came with it, that I think were microwaved, although homemade. One of the worst chili relleno's I've ever had. I really wanted to like this place but I just can't. Husband got a really big burrito for $15 but it was mostly just rice and beans. read more

Ignore the questionable looking outside...and inside. I kid you not, you won't want to eat another taco from anyone but Rose ever again. Puffy tacos, who knew that was a thing...but it is, and you should order them. They are delicious. We also had the taquitos, just as delicious. We chatted with a fellow diner and she had the sopes and said they were so good, she said she planned to come back to try every menu item...who could blame her! Ok and here's the thing, most Mexican restaurants, the beans and rice are like a plate garnish, you kinda move them around with your fork and maybe have a little, but nothing to speak of, well not at Rose's. The beans and rice are so yummy, my daughter pretty much ate all of it, I had to sneak a couple bites before they were totally gone! My family and I were just passing through and decided we wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. We saw that there were all great reviews for this place so we decided to give it a try and they did not disappoint!!! I had the chicken enchilada with red sauce and it was probably some of the best red sauce I've ever had and definitely some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in my life. My kids who never finish their food had the quesadillas with rice and they completely cleaned off their plates. The workers here are so friendly and they were so fast and efficient. Drove into town and grabbed this to go for lunch based on all the loving reviews. My boyfriend got a carne asada burrito, and I got three carne asada tacos with rice and beans, and it was aunder $30 with the tip which was nice. I'm usually not the biggest fan of beans, and avoid them most everywhere we go, but if beans tasted like this everywhere else, I'd ALWAYS get them. Best beans I've ever had! And the burrito my boyfriend got was absolutely HUGE! He was going to steal some of my beans and rice, but he had about the same portion of both, stuffed in his own burrito, which he was pretty excited about. He surprised us both by eating the entire thing! This was such a filling meal for both of us, and it tasted so good, too! New location for this restaurant in Hoquiam. They moved into the old Simpson Avenue Grill which closed down months ago. Rose's food is high priced with very small portions. The steak tacos were very small and filled with gristle and bone fragments. Very unappealing and bitter tasting. We simply cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone and would recommend the Mexican restaurant in Aberdeen a few miles down the road. read more

The food was very good, flavorful and plentiful but could have been hotter. I think part of the problem is not having one waitress to take orders and serve and one to seat patrons and check them out. There was a third to bus tables but they are short handed and we had some food served by cooking staff. One of our party of four sent her plate back to be reheated and it came back steaming. Several of us others should have done the same. I reheated and ate what we took home and it was really good. I'll be looking forward to eating there again and taking home leftovers if I can stand to leave anything to take home! read more

Having grown up in Texas, I have very high standards for Mexican food. This place exceeded my standards. Wonderful food at a great price with a very friendly owner! Also, we asked the owner for some vegetarian-friendly options, and he cooked us up some dishes off the menu - a quesadilla, a veggie burrito, and a green mole vegetarian enchilada dish. All were excellent!! You have to stop here!!! You will love whatever you get!
