Our stop on the way to the Pacific coast for some papusas in the middle of Hoaquim. Good Latin American fare

I detour here every time I come to the Olympics. The pupusas are to die for! I love the curtido! There's plenty of parking around the building. The atmosphere inside is cozy, and I like looking at the el Salvadoran decor. We ordered and paid at the counter, deciding to dine in. We were quickly served water then chips and salsa (a new welcome touch!). The Pupusas didn't take long and were delicious, as usual. I love the pork bean and cheese. My partner got chicken and cheese too and enjoyed it. Once we finished, our to go chicken tamales arrived - a great and tasty bfast the next morning! When we were leaving on Sunday, more people were coming in for the delicious food. Well worth the extra time driving!

Great pupusas! I got a chicken and pork, bean, and cheese. The pork bean and cheese was slightly tastier than the chicken, but I enjoyed both. They came out hot and fresh within 15 minutes. It was also nice to be able to dine in the restaurant, instead of having to take it back to my hotel room. The "hot" sauce was pretty mild and somewhat watered down, which was slightly disappointing.

This place was hopping at 7pm on a Friday evening! They have both takeout and dine in with around 8 tables inside. There was a steady stream of customers coming in and calling orders in the whole time we were there. Very affordable prices and a wide menu selection. We weren't super hungry, so we got a light dinner to go and ordered the chicken tacos, birria taco, and a spinach and cheese pupusa. Everything was hot and delicious and I wish I had been more hungry and gotten to try more things!

Super tasty carnitas with large sides of salad, beans and rice.

One of the reasons to hit the beach at Ocean Shores is so you can swing by this restaurant on the way and get your fill of authentic Salvadoran food. Freshly made, tasty, and filling at very reasonable prices. We usually get the pupusas and carne asada with a side of plantains. Always delicious and has us craving until the next beach weekend.

If you're tired of the overwhelming amount of Mexican cuisine around, this Salvadoran place is a great alternative. Was on a road trip and I'd like to think this place really stood out as I drove through town. They have an overwhelming menu at first glance, but the pupusas are really the star. They have the best salsa verde I've ever had, but also the tomato-based red sauce also pairs really well with them too. Don't skip the yuca fries. They're completely underrated and this place does them right. Service was really nice and they take phone orders in advance too. Won't lie, I even had to stop by again on my way back home. I don't know much about Aberdeen (I'll hold back from making assumptions), but this place is definitely a hidden gem.

Nice big bowl of Birria soup

The wife and I went here today to try Salvadorian food and it was a very pleasant experience. We've never had Salvadorian food and had no idea what we were missing out on! The staff here were friendly and attentive, even when they started to get busy. I ordered the 2 pupusas meal with one of them loroco and the other one the revuelta with papitas salvadoreñas. My wife ordered el caldo birria and one extra spinach pupusa. The winner of the day for sure was the revuelta pupusa. The pork, bean, and cheese mixture in the pupusa was nice and savory and the pupusa holding the filling was very light. I've never tried loroco before, but it definitely has a subtle nutty flavor that was really nice. My wife really enjoyed her caldo birria and we thought it was definitely one of the better birrias we've had in a while. We also enjoyed the spinach pupusa. The curtido that came with the pupusas was quite delicious and refreshing. It was very tangy with bold flavor and pairs nicely with the pupusa. There were not a lot of negatives, but here goes. We did not think the papitas salvadoreñas were all that great as it's only French fries with mayo, ketchup, and cheese on them, and for almost $8 it wasn't worth it. The rice that came with my pupusa platter was a little bland and the salsa for the chips was a little salty. That being said, we will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Very good food! We ordered the birria with crispy taco combo and 2 different kind of pupusas- spinach/cheese and Chicken. The only let down was the spinach/cheese pupusa, it was very bland and very flavorless, everything else was amazing!

Wow, who knew there would be a Salvadoran restaurant in Aberdeen! On our way back from camping in Olympic National Park, we drove through Aberdeen during lunchtime. The nice cashier at the local Grays Harbor farmers' market warned us Aberdeen was "fast food hell" but this restaurant proved there is a diamond in the rough! Spacious dine-in restaurant with great decorations, TVs playing football (American when we were there), large menu, clean restroom, and pretty good selection of beers and other alcohols. You go up to the counter to order then sit down in one of the booth to receive your food. The servers were attentive and friendly. I got 2 veggie pupusas ($1.99 ea, come with curtido) and my BF got one of every single taco (5 meat fillings, each just under $2). I also go the Corona Refresco for just a few bucks and BF got a Jarrito. The taco plate was presented very nicely, with all 5 tacos spread in a gorgeous, mouth-watering halo. My pupusas were one of the thickest and largest in diameter pupusas I have had before. The fillings were generous, perfectly seasoned, hot and gooey. I picked up some escabeche and raw sliced radish to eat with my pupusas. After eating my whole plate, I was super stuffed. BF was also stuffed. He overall enjoyed all the meats, commenting that one of the beef (carne asada or lengua) and the chicken were the best while the carnitas was a bit dry. They also provide 2 house salsas you can squirt on your food, one spicy red and one tomatillo based. We loved the food and service here. I would love to hit this place up again next time I'm in the area and wish there was one closer.

First time here. We ordered shrimp and pork pupusas, tacos and fried plantain. Food was delicious. Authentic and flavorful. It was a busy afternoon and there was a wait time but well worth it. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was fairly priced. Definitely coming back whenever we are in the area. Highly recommended.

But in the last few weeks we have gone passed it they aren't open and there is a sign on the door saying they are closed for seep cleaning. I never owned a restaurant and neither do I know how long a deep cleaning could take. I suppose it varies depending on what is being cleaned. But as of 5/9/26 the restaurant remains closed. The last social media post from Facebook was January of '26. The website associated with this profile on Yelp doesn't seem to be working and neither does the website associated when you Google them which is very concerning. Hopefully they will be open again soon and none of this is subtleties amounting to a permanent closure.

There were a few reasons I tried Balcon Express. 1) never had El Salvadoran food, 2) close to my…read morehouse, 3) was recommended by a colleague, 4) Yelp reviews were very positive and saw that the restaurant responded to reviews which doesn't happen often - definite a plus! So, I parked - I found a street parking around the corner. It's a small establishment with an ADA bathroom. You can go and order with the staff, or you can order with a kiosk. I happened to do both! I asked the server who told me later that he was the cousin of the owner and el Salvadoran, what he would recommend. I ended up getting Combo 2 which is two tacos and a pupusa (which I've never had). Both I got pork and pupusa he said to get pork and cheese. I liked it ALL. Although the puousa is made of corn and tasty, I prob wouldnt order it again. I really, really liked the two tacos. The seasoning and taste was delicious!!! I am craving it right now as I am writing this review. They gave me condiments - 3 different hot sauces which I liked the avocado one which was a great creamy sauce. And there 3 pieces of lime and cut radishes. Plus, there were pickled onions which was tasty! I asked a lot of questions because I wanted to eat them all the way he would so The server told me to put the pickled onions on the pupusa. Oh, that made a huge difference. So delicious!!! Next time, I am just going to get 4 tacos - yep 4! lol and may try a burrito just to see how that is. I ended up getting a Jarrisco with Tamarind flavor. Oh it was a sweet and perfect complimentary drink. I will def be back! Really enjoyed it.
