He does a very thorough exam every time and makes sure everything looks good with your eyes. I also appreciate that he's helped me out with extra contact packs when I've been running low. They take most insurance. I've been using VSP here with no issues. Pricing on contacts is also pretty comparable to other places, which is another reason I keep coming back. I've been seeing Dr. Chang for about 7 years now, great doctor always a good experience…read more My contact lens prescription expired 3 months ago (apparently they only are good for one year) and I just wanted to reorder another box until my next annual appointment in a few months. I looked up that sometimes they can do a courtesy extension of the prescription if your vision has been stable and have no issues. I asked for such an extension but was told multiple times I would have to get another contact lens exam for $160 (out of pocket) in addition to the cost of the lenses. I think that as a long time patient they should be able to accommodate such an easy request, since I would be getting my annual exam soon again anyway. It's not easy to schedule an unnecessary exam especially with a busy schedule, just to get a box of contacts. Bottom line loyalty doesn't seem to count here and maybe it's time to switch optometrists.

Oh man, coming inside it was packed but it was so unorganized it made me feel anxious just by walking in! There's no reception area so there really wasn't a spot for you to come in and check in for your appointment. We had to stand around and hope we caught someone's eye to help us. While we were waiting the staff were arguing about a customer's order loudly in front of everyone! We all watched while they gas lit each other on who had the order or didn't have the order. That was crazy but good entertainment LOOL but that alone made me want to walk out but he wanted us to give them the benefit of the doubt. Once we finally got someone's attention he filled out his paperwork and again, had to wait for someone to get his paperwork and tell him what to do next. We waited for 15mins and finally we had to ask a staff walking by that we had an appointment and needed help! She told the other staff to take him and get his pre-appointment stuff started (checking eye pressure and all that jazz) We went to the other side of the store and I waited for him in the waiting room and you can see everything that was going on. The lady looked so lost on doing the whole thing and the thing that blows air into your eye? He got like shot a few times that his eyes got so dry and tired afterwards. Turns out we couldn't continue with our appointment because our insurance was on hold with another dr and we rescheduled to come back during the weekend. FYI - we did not, we just went to our usual optometry and were much happier there. Do your due diligence before coming here! One plus of coming here is I hear loads of different languages being spoken so it seems they are well versed in the Asian dialect LOL

I also got contacts and the whole check up for that was very quick and easy. I felt no discomfort when testing out my new contact prescriptions. Everything was done efficiently with ease. The front receptionist did a decent job with taking care of the paper work, but when it came to the issue of referrals to an ophthalmologist, she did not do well in explaining the process nor guiding us on what the next best steps would be. Which is the only reason why I am giving a 4 star instead of a 5 star review.

After asking about availability, he bluntly replied, "I don't have any doctor today." I then asked a very basic question: how much my insurance would cover and what my out-of-pocket cost might be. Instead of offering assistance, he immediately responded with, "I don't know. I don't know how much you're going to pay. I don't know your plan," in a tone that clearly conveyed annoyance. I had already told him what insurance I have. When I asked whether he could check my benefits, he finally said he could, but not before muttering something under his breath. The entire conversation felt like I was inconveniencing him simply by calling. It was obvious he didn't want to be bothered doing the most basic parts of his job. Patients call medical offices every day to ask about insurance coverage, costs, and appointments. These are standard questions--not unreasonable requests. What was most astonishing was the audacity. If you work in a customer-facing role at a healthcare office, the bare minimum expectation is that you treat people with courtesy and professionalism. Instead, I was met with impatience, attitude, and a complete lack of customer service. If answering routine patient questions is that irritating, then perhaps customer service is the wrong line of work. I hadn't even become a patient yet, and the interaction was enough to make me take my business elsewhere.

Dr. Tran is by far THE BEST optometrist I know!!! She is extremely friendly and likes to build a rapport with her clients. I've been to her a few times and she is always very professional and gentle when handling my sensitive eyeballs. She thoroughly explains everything in a way that I fully understand and keeps me on my toes when in comes to eye care and health. These pair of eyes have to last me a couple of decades and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to school me on how to keep them up to par!!! I've had some eye issues in the past and had called her immediately. She is very knowledgable and understanding of your worries and concerns and she contacted me in a timely manner (Same day). This is why I absolutely love going to her!!! She genuinely does care about her patients which is obvious from her 5-Star Ratings!!! I also love her office!!! It is very modern and up-to-date with a wide selection of frames and brands!!! (Got me some Tom Ford cat eye glasses). They are very family friendly and they have a kids table and ongoing movies for kids entertainment. I love the charging station which is brilliant!!! Oh and the bathroom is superrrrr clean and looks like something out of a model home!!! A lot of work has been put into the office and I have to give credit where it is due!!! It looks amazing!!! I love Dr. Tran's buff husband as well!!! When he does come in, he is always very friendly and welcoming which is just another plus to add on to others. Get your 2020 experience with Rosemead Optometry! Service is a notch above the best. Their staff is very courteous and spot on helpful. They were able to book my appointment with Dr. Tran in short notice. The day I had my appointment was the first time being at their office, as I just moved from Virginia. I noticed they accepted walk-ins as well, as the waiting area for customers was almost full. It didn't bother me any because they had Netflix streaming on their nice 55 inch TV that made the time pass by. Also had some time for observation on the frames and their displays. The selection of frames was very impressive! They carry designer frames from luxury brands like Tom Ford, Gucci, Tag and Boss. They also had a wide selection of sunglasses, my favorite style they carried were RayBans. My experience with Dr. Tran would give the rating scale another 5 stars, for a total of 10 stars on this awesome establishment. ! Dr. Tran was so informative, very professional, and passionate about the the health of my eyes. It seems that she's a natural at being one of the best eye doctors I've ever had. Let me first say, I almost never feel the need to write yelp reviews, but my visit to Rosemead Optemetry was nothing short of awesome. They were extremely friendly and helpful to someone like me, who is new to ordering contacts and glasses, and Dr. Tran definitely made me feel comfortable with the whole process. She clearly explained what was happening every step of the way, and explained detail about my eyes that I didn't fully understand at first. I've been putting off getting glasses for several years. I don't have terrible vision but it is blurry at times, especially when I'm sleepy. I've finally came to a point, after all the reading in grad school, where I needed to seek vision care. I was referred to Dr. Tran and I've never seen better! My experience at this place was outstanding! Anna greeted me and I was promptly attended to. I ended up getting the best looking Hugo Boss glasses at an incredible price! My my where do I start. Well, I have visited many optometry places but nothing can compare to this particular location. Even though the owner changed, Dr.Tran was still able to maintain the policy of the business and even try to improve it. The staff remained helpful, the glasses/contacts options has never been better, and thus, the place itself is just comfortable to be in. The restroom is extremely clean, which is very important when it comes to changing contacts since this place also provide Ortho-K. As a whole package, I give this place a 5 star review! read more
