Came here after seeing the negative untrue review online, just a way of supporting a local business. We had The London fog paired with "the new one" tart, and a coconut almond tea with "the earl grey". The flavor definitely live up to the hype! We really enjoyed our dessert here. "The new one" tart is nicely layered with different textures and flavor: top layer is a white chocolate glaze; the second layer is probably earl grey buttercream(if anyone knows what it is please tell me, it's so good!!), flavor is subtle and not overly sweet, absolutely marvelous; the third part is the salted caramel in the middle that is probably going to be the high light for some people who have sweet tooth, however the sweetness was a little bit overpowering when eating a whole bite. Here's my it lost a star: 1. Limited selection for low lactose or lactose free dessert. I really hope I can have more choices that doesn't upset my stomach! 2. Desserts both were on a sweeter side, even the staff recommended "the earl grey" for ppl not good with sugar. It was a little bit off the chart that I couldn't taste the sweetness from my London fog after had a bite of our dessert. Definitely one of my top list for dessert places. Also I do hope they serve ice cream all year round, because during my 30 minutes visit there were already several customers asking about the ice cream, including me! So I am basing my review solely on the soft ice cream I tried over the long weekend. I wish I bought some cakes to have more to say about their other desserts! However! The soft ice cream was pretty godlike. The earl grey ice cream, I decided to upgrade; and when you upgrade, it's injected with some lemon meringue. I loved that lemon in there, I think it makes the ice cream taste less flat and have more dimension and oomph! (if you know what I mean) Had it been plain earl grey, I think the ice cream would have tasted less flavorful. But I really loved the garnishes. The earl grey cookie was nice and buttery, and the krispies were, well, deliciously crispy and crunchy! All sorts of textures in your mouth, it's a texture party! So, I would say based on the dessert I had, 5 stars! I don't believe there's much to comment about in terms of service: just take it, find a seat, and eat it. I know this particular ice cream flavor is seasonal/occasional.... but if it's available, definitely level up and get the lemon injection! Downside is, this bakery is quite ways away for me. My friend found this place and we decided to go because of the earl grey soft serve. We accidently got there about 10 minutes before closing but they didn't seem upset and served us. We even had friends who were on their way but they were super nice and took their orders and set us up outside on their patio so that they can close up without rushing anyone. My friends and I all either had the regular earl grey soft serve or the one with the toppings. The one with toppings had crispy bubble-like cookies, and lemon cream inside. I wasn't a fan of the lemon cream just because I don't like lemon flavored things but my friends really liked it. I really liked the regular one and I would go again for this flavor but I know they change flavors. You should definitely try to get it before they change it! read more

Love the limited selection, there was only 7 choices in the display case plus their special Mille Crepe. See how all the goodies are perfectly lined, that shows how much love is put into this place. Banana Cream Pie Eclaire $7 ~ Rum'd up banana, vanilla custard and whipped white chocolate ~ The éclaire shell was perfect and the caramelized bananas was so god, layered with so much flavors. The Earl $7.50 ~ Mik chocolate earl grey mousse, toasted cream and chocolate flakes ~ Love the light and airiness of this mousse but wish the earl grey flavor was more prominent. Roselle is my favourite dessert place in Toronto ever since it opened in March 2015. The owners trained at George Brown College in Toronto and then in Paris, France before working in various Michelin Star locations around the world. They returned to Toronto and opened this little shop specializing in French desserts. I am so glad they did. Each cakelet is a delicate creation of layered flavours that will make you feel like a dessert connoisseur as each ingredient reveals itself on your palette. I have tried every cakelet (usually $7 each) and they are all consistently exquisite. The chocolate and caramel are decadent without the syrupy thickness and the fruity confections are refreshing. The size of the cakelets are bigger than bite-sized without leaving you feeling overdosed on sweets. If you like a particular cake, Roselle can make it full-sized 8-inch with three-days advance notice. Their cookies, marshmallows, caramels, coffees and teas are great as well. I bought a few small cakelets to a friend's house for dinner and they were definitely impressed. Roselle makes sure to pack the cakelets so they don't slide around in the box. For eating in, there is limited seating (up to 15 max), but it is a bright, clean, airy space with plenty of opportunity to people-watch because many regulars frequent this place. This small, cute bakery located on King St. offers a selection of unique and fancy desserts. I came here to try their Earl Grey soft serve and topped it with a butter cookie and pearls. There was some sort of lemon curd flavour added to the soft serve as well, which was too overpowering for my taste. I could barely taste the earl grey flavour because of how strong and distinct the lemon flavour was. The soft serve was quite heavy, felt kinda sick after eating less than half of it. Their soft serve is not my cup of tea. Although it does look nice, it is not worth the ~$5 price. Their cookie is alright, nothing special about it. I am just working on this cake project which is another excuse for me to eat another slice of delicious heaven. After being slightly disappointed at another cake shop, this one actually make up for wasted time. This was just really close to school. I guess because I was so hungry, any food would taste this much better. To be honest, I really love the storefront which is easily spotted if you walk by King street. The 4 little tables give a simple and clean vibe to the store. I love their slogan which stated "desserts make you happy". They sure make me happy all the time. The relaxing jazz music with the pastel colour background really makes this place a great place to hang out. The cake display case was also really clean and simple, not too much selection, but every slice of cakes look immaculate and done with a lot of care. The staff was also extremely friendly and gave us a lot of pointers on which cakes is popular and which one is her favorite. I decided on the earl grey mousse cake which has four layers of deliciousness. Not only is it appetizing, it was flavour combination was simply elegant. The earl grey vanilla sponge cake sitting on top of the lemon feuilletine topped with bergamot cremeux and milk chocolate earl grey mousse was dancing on my tongue. The earl grey tea really balance out the richness of the cake. And the mirror glaze on top of the masterpiece with several cobalt blue cornflower petals were just literally icing on the cake. I recommend the earl grey cake. It's pricy ($8) but it's gorgeous and a must try if you love earl grey-flavored things.The shortbread cookies are pretty good. Canelés have to be ordered in advance. I think they do the whole beewax and copper mold process. Sadly, I found their soft serve a bit underwhelming. The tea flavor was very mild. I love this little cafe!! Was going to check out the new green tea Japanese ice cream place on a weekend, but due to the ridiculous line up, my friend JC suggested to walk to Roselle instead. Yes it was a LONG walk on a rather chilly day, but I really enjoyed the scenery on my way to this cafe including this furniture place we dropped by! First thing I noticed about this place is the red bench outside the cafe, which is perfect for summer time! Once you walk in, you have 4 two people table for the small seated area and that's it. The rest is all coffee and sweet! Since we already had a big meal from Miku, we ordered the Earl Grey Soft serve with Lemon Sorbet inside, French Coffee and the Banana Éclair. The Earl Grey soft serve was amazing, but I didn't really like the sorbet inside, so if you can, ask them to skip the sorbet, just have the ice cream!! French Coffee was HUGE, which can serve 2 full cups with no problem. I had the coffee black and surprisingly, the coffee was pretty smooth and I really enjoyed it black, plus black coffee is perfect when you pair it with desserts! The best of this visit was the Banana Éclair! Just looking at it already made me drool and once I had the first bite, OMG, it was so amazing!! The dough was so soft, amount of cream was just right and the banana flavoring was amazing considering I am not a big banana person. It was so good I got one extra Éclair for takeout so my parents can try also! Overall, I love this little spot, great clean environment (all white), great coffee, great desserts and a great place to spend some quality time with a friend. P.S. King East finally has a dessert place that can withstand the turnover of restaurants (Um, Weezies?) over the last year or so. This cute and minimal shop offers crepes, shortbread cookies and selective array of little cakes. Don't be mistaken by their size, these babies pack in a lot of flavor and texture within the first bite. I bought the Turtle tart, Lemon tart and the Earl. All of them were presented neatly in the display and they were even taped to the bottom of my take-home box so they remained in tact and pretty as in store by the time I got home. The Earl was a dream. This was an earl grey chocolate mouse with cookie base. However, my favorite was the Lemon tart. This must be the best lemon tart I've had in the city. It was tangy and fresh with a buttery crust and marshmellow topping. I was actually a bit sad when I finished my last bite haha. I didn't try the Turtle tart, but I imagined it was just as good as the others since my boyfriend finished the whole thing without breathing. I wished I picked up the shorties (shortbread with orange jam) and the caramel but for 3 cakes, I was already out $23.00. Roselle has certainly made its mark as one of the latest desserts joint in town worth mentioning. Although it's a small set-up, they pride themselves in the pastries. The Millie cakes which are available only on weekends are a must! Soft serve ice cream as well if the weather is not too cold. The caramel sweets are made the French way, which tastes like butter melting in your mouth. Tip: they've recently started their night menu which is available on Fri and Sat nights from 8pm -11pm. Love this place! My first visit here was a few months back after stopping at Tandem to get a coffee. I walked by and was enticed by their amazing dessert display. I end up getting their matcha cookie and it was delicious. My friends and I missed out on the Earl Grey soft serve sadly, so we decided to try their summer flavour (buttermilk) yesterday. It was like a strawberry cheesecake with a real strawberry. The staff is super friendly as well and very inviting. What a gem in Toronto! If you are looking for a thoughtful fresh take on French pastry come here. The neighborhood is awesome, very nice part of town. Had no trouble with street parking and there is a green p parking lot around the corner from here too. Small inside, maybe seating for 8-10 people, so keep that in mind if you're looking to sit down for a bit. Got the earl grey ice cream, the bella and turtle w/ a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was great. You can tell the chef puts their heart and soul into the food and genuinely cares about their work. For me though the star was the earl grey ice cream - not fatty tasting ice cream, very delicate with just the right amount of tea flavor. Inside is a lemon curd of some sort, it was amazing. I made quite the trek out to this place and I'm glad I did. I was waiting for an appointment and had the best brunch I've had in a while. I had the chicken and goat cheese quiche, which they warmed up and was moist and perfectly done. "The Chocolate One" is one of the best cakes in the city, it's so rich and dense. They kept my apple green tea topped up with hot water. The owners were friendly and I didn't feel rushed. I decided to also get the earl grey soft serve with the lemon curd pearls. Perfection. Roselle is a tiny, precious, patisserie on King St. E. I was in a few weeks ago for the first time to get pastries to take home. The staff were friendly. We had an opera cake, turtle tart, and a few cookies. The chocolate chip was pretty good, but I thought the coffee caramel cookie was a little bland for my taste, I didn't get a lot of coffee of caramel. In contrast, the cake and tart were intensely flavoured and delicious, especially the turtle tart. The major drawback is that the portions are very small for the price. Although it was sure was tasty, the opera cake slice was literally four bites for $7.50. You can't go wrong with Roselle but I probably won't be adding it to the normal bakery rotation. read more

However, they were selling their earl grey soft serve for the last time until August 2021, so I went on a Friday about a half hour after they opened. OMG! A LINE! Waited about an hour (so naturally I had to order a bunch of things to justify waiting in line). and O M G, so worth it!!! Firstly, the soft serve was delicious - definitely get the loaded version with the balls and cookie (gives a nice texture). Plus its a pretty nice portion - not too big or small. Plus they each had a glaze... uggh i could eat like 10 of them easily. Next, the lemon tarts were cute!! Crust and nice and lemon curd was nice and sweet, like a mini meringue! Lastly, the cake cup! So delicious!! Reminded me of an italian cake - i got the strawberry and pistachio flavour. tons of cream and a nice amount of cake (plus they added fresh strawberries on top). perfection... i want to try all the cakes now haha! We have a winner on our hand folks. I prefer rich over sweet desserts so this one hits the spot on these notes. Nice small clean space with a nice presentation area. Pity they didn't have any espresso based drinks while I was there as would have luved to make this my new haunt for coffee as well. Anyway I will be back for desserts alone. I did a take out ordered a trio with one being chocolate, second being a mango and third being a strawberry offering. All were just right IMO with strawberry followed by chocolate and mango dessert in terms of ranking. Nice ratio of cream to crunch in the chocolate dessert. A bit pricey but worth it IMO. Tried the Banana eclair on the second visit along with duo of short bread and a mousse dessert. Mousse was good. Banana eclair has real banana chunks in it. Good but overpriced in IMO. Short bread didn't do it for me though I am not a connoisseur but my opinion was seconded by a person who is. Too creamy in the center. 4 solid stars. read more

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. She briefly went over the menu and made recommendations based on the popularity of the items. We were here to try their soft serve, but we couldn't resist the banana eclair when she said it is their signature item. They change desserts and toppings/flavour of soft serve ice cream occasionally so that they can incorporate the ingredients that are in season. I recommend to check their menu through social media so that you don't miss a chance of trying something new! When we went there (Aug. 7th 2016), it was buttermilk soft serve ($5) and toppings were fresh Ontario blueberries, coulis and cornbread crisps (all toppings for only 50 cents). The ice cream looked a bit small when we saw it, but it was a perfect amount. It was perfectly creamy with a hint of sourness from buttermilk flavour! Warning: it melts very quickly so don't spend too much time on taking pics :P blueberry coulis had a perfect consistency and sweetness (not too sweet). Cornbread crisps added a nice texture to it, but I found that it didn't really go well with blueberries. Overall, 4/5 for the ice cream. It wasn't mind-blowing but a good solid softserve! OMG their banana eclair though. You have to try it!! Our jaws literally dropped when we had the first bite. You can def taste banana with a perfect amount of sweetness! The soft and delicate pastry and cream complimented each other. Solid 5/5. Overall, I dare to say that their banan eclair is worth to make a special trip to Roselle. Soft serve was good too but our expectations were too high because of its adorable appearance and good reviews on it. I will be back shortly to try other dessert items! read more
