Long story short, I didn't see a difference. And since I already knew the paints I wanted, I was good. They do offer a lot aside from paint, like painters pants, tape, gloves, etc. The gentleman behind the counter was helping somebody on the phone. He sounded very knowledgeable in his responses and questions. In the end, I didn't make a purchase, but now I know where the store is and what it offers.

It distressed me to see only one review on Yelp and it be so scathing. As for "professional, gentle painters," I just had what I thought to be one of those do some exterior work on my home. He actually stated before he began my project that he was "more of a perfectionist than I." I would love to have a picture of his face when I questioned the basis for his statement. Gentle and professional as he can't or may not be, I can now confidently demonstrate with examples the inaccuracy of his claim. In the past, my wife has had painting done in our home. It is my opinion that many residential spreaders of paint should advertise as such and refrain from the noble title of painter. I'm sticking with Budeke's and either hiring a profession, or applying quality product acquired from them myself.

The store is always clean and employees are very friendly. I usually work with Patrick, who is always super helpful recommending the correct line of paint for my many DIY projects, as well as calling around other stores when this location is out of what I need. Due to the paint shortage, I recommend calling prior to popping in as inventory can be a toss up these days. This paint is on the pricier side so I recommend making an account if you think you'll end up being a frequent flyer here. I've saved so much over the past few months with all of the paint and supplies I've purchased.

Bottom Line: Quality paints and consistently great service…read more I've been going to McCormick Paints in Annapolis for the past seven-plus years and I've always had a good experience with them and their paints. Originally I went to McCormick to match the paint that was used by my builder but McCormick's friendly customer service and great quality paints keeps me returning. I think it also helped that they gave me a fan deck (thank you!) on my first visit which I still use. I've used many gallons of their paints. I've also used a variety of their products and I've only had one issue - a low VOC paint that skunked. Indoors I've used 1st Step primer, Total Advantage and Revo on my walls and Advantage (now discontinued) and Revo on my trim. Outdoors I've used the State House exterior paint. When I had to paint metal railings outside I trusted their Interlock Direct to Metal paint. All of these paints went on easily and have held up great. As a bonus, they sell caulk in their standard paint trim colors like White Shadow and Cool Platinum which is super helpful!

Since we were driving to Pennsylvania anyway, decided to stop at Annapolis and get some new paint. Joel at McCormick paints listened to my story and told me that he was going to replace the paint for free. As he put it, you shouldn't have to pay for something you were going to get anyway.
