Delicious Fish Sandwich and Pizza!
Ms.tash C.

Hubby and I discovered this spot not to long ago and now this is our go to spot! Wish I had known about this spot before my Aunt passed, she would've loved it! The drinks are great and the food is Yummy! Their pizza is Very Good, actually tastes as good as Mineo! I recently had their Fish Sandwich and it was Delicious!!

Nice draught selection

Excellent bar food, meets and exceeds what you would expect. Fast and friendly service. Has a great local dive bar feel. The owner is very hospitable. Visit somewhat regularly thru the years. Mostly friendly guests. Nice intimate spot with an outdoor patio. The "Cheers" of Monroeville. Highly recommended.

Fish sandwich & onion rings

This was our first visit and wow was it good! The first thing we noticed was the crowd, lots of folks on a Saturday night is always a good sign. We ordered the summer sangria and while it was very tasty, $9 was way too much. The servers, all two of them (definitely need more when busy) were very pleasant and helpful. We ordered Fish and Ultimate BLT sandwiches with onion rings. The staff said: "All the food is good" when we asked if we were making good selections from the menu and they were right! If you don't mind the smell of smoke, this place is great! If you do mind smoke and the weather outside is nice, they have outdoor seating, this place is great! 2-thumbs up! We will be back!

Kaitlyns Quarantini - vodka, seltzer, strawberry , mint

Go here. If you like bar food and a good time you won't be disappointed. Looks like it was once a hole in the way but now remodeled. Bartenders are friendly, food is good and to be expected as good bar food, drinks are reasonably priced! They currently have a "to go" drink menu, Kaitlyn's Quarantini is tasty and goes down smooth. I believe it's vodka, seltzer, mint and strawberry simple syrup plus the respectable garnishes. Get it to go or drink it there in a big goblet. I also tried my friends Mango margarita that had a jalapeño kick to it.. if you like spicy, you'll love it. This is a definite recommend if you're looking for a chill bar with good food and drinks!

Best bar in Monroeville. The owner's a nice guy and the bartenders/waitresses are friendly. The prices and food are also good.

Instead, this was hands down the fastest large-group dinner I've ever had. Orders moved quickly, food came out hot, and nothing felt chaotic. For a group this size, that level of execution is genuinely impressive. Let's be clear: this is not Texas-style, 18-hour, smoke-ring BBQ--and it's not trying to be. What they do well is consistency and customization. You get six different sauces, and they actually ask whether you want your meat lean and dry or juicy. I went juicy, and my portions were flavorful, tender, and satisfying. I ordered the beef brisket and pulled pork, and also tried the pulled pork sandwich. Solid across the board. They were out of the cream corn (bummer), the mac and cheese was fine and comforting, and the cornbread was excellent--classic, slightly sweet, and the clear standout. This is BBQ built for scale: fast, reliable, and crowd-friendly. If you're feeding a large group and want everyone served quickly, with options and no drama, Mission BBQ absolutely delivers--even if it's not chasing smoke-ring perfection.

We've gotten there 3 times now for their catering service and was impressed each time. The food was hot and fresh each time. Portions were good size. All the meat was cooked great! There choices includes ribs, ( of course ) Pulled pork, chicken, brisket, turkey, sausage, burgers and salmon. There are a wide variety of sauces for every palate. Some mild and some spicy but all the ones I've tried are tasty. The sides were also very good! Mac and cheese and bacon green beans were my favorites but other sides include baked beans, French fries, collard greens, cold slaw and a couple seasonal items. The prices are decent but I was impressed with their commitment to veterans charities. I'll pay more to help those who serve our country! The Army Truck out front is very cool and it's their mobile smoker truck for large events The inside of the store has a warm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Definitely feel like you're ready to enjoy some homemade delicious BBQ. Definitely recommended if you're hungry for some delicious scratch BBQ.

First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My girlfriend got the signature crab cakes which she said were mostly crab and not filler. So while I thought the menu was dated when reading it the food was well executed.

My wedding soup and my husband's French onion soup were delicious. The wedding soup was loaded with meatballs and chicken. My husband has a thing for French onion soup and tries it every chance he gets. He said this may have been the best ever. We split a Reuben sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. The waitress brought us each a half portion so we didn't have to divide it ourselves, which was nice. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, making it acceptable, not great but good enough. Onion rings were very good. Dessert sounded tempting, a cherry crème brûlée. It was okay, kind of like cherry jello with a sugar crust on top. A bit disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was on top of filling the water glasses and was very nice. Now for the bad news and why I'm only giving 3 stars. I went to the ladies room before eating and there was no hot water to wash my hands. I asked my husband if the men's room had hot water and he said no. We both let it run but it never got hot, not even warm. Then I noticed (after drinking several glasses of water unfortunately) that there was a crack in my water glass. I mentioned it to my husband and he said, "you should see the chips in the glass tabletop over her on my side". I get it that wear and tear happens, but these things should be caught before serving guests. And as far as the hot water...how do servers and kitchen workers properly clean their hands after using the toilet without hot water? So the food is fairly solid and reasonably priced. But be on the lookout for chipped glassware and table tops. And use your own hand sanitizer if you have it!

It is great to have a place that serves upscale food but isn't stuffy and pretentious. Service is always friendly and efficient. I love that they have a rotating seasonal menu. It is on the higher end price wise, but you get what you pay for. And that means nice portions, quality ingredients and excellent taste. Got a Pinot noir wine and waters Starter=soup of the day: tomato w/ chickpea and chorizo- bold tomato flavor and lots of arugula in it. Not so much chorio but flavor was very good, not overly salty. 10/10 After the soup we put our nit-picking goggles on as we knew this was a pretty sophisticated meal. Daily special- pan seared mahi mahi with asparagus fennel kohlabi and arugula salad citrus buerre Blanc. Light citrus flavor is found thru the mahi mahi, its sauce and the salad. Very congruent. Asparagus was a neutral addition. Not flowing with or against the mahi. Fish was cooked well. Just lots of raw red onion on the salad was a little overpowering. 7/10 Red wine braised short rib- didn't ask how well done, so seems chefs choice. We have a preference towards med rare. This was cooked well done making it a tad tough-stringy. Mashed potatoes with some larger pieces of potato, but very neutral plain flavor, great with the beef sauce. Carrots cooked well, just neutral, natural flavor. Overall a very classic flavor combo that works.7/10. Would stop by again to try more dishes. Ps- when paying we noticed final bill to sign was more than first bill at table. When we asked why the difference we were told it's the credit card fee of $3. This was really the first time I've seen this at a restaurant, yet alone at a decent place like one. Would have been best for them to tell us this upfront.

We happen to be in the area so after about three years of avoiding them, I said why not give them another try. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was exceptional. It had a pleasant ambiance you could actually have a great conversation without excessive noise. I ordered the fish dinner and did they ever redeem themselves. It was no longer like Mrs. Paul's frozen fish, two very nice meaty breaded filet served with French fries that were hot and crispy cooked just right. Great snap when you crunched them. The breading on the fish was not overpowering and the fish itself was large and robust with the flavor of fresh caught cod. I was very impressed. Our waitress Caleigh who was wonderful. Max & Erma's went from a quaint downtown restaurant to a decent regional chain with pretty reasonable prices. This location was convenient for a bunch of people coming from different directions. They make a great Long Island Iced Tea (not as good as Carl's Tavern, but who does?) and also has some pretty good food. We got some of their fried pickles as an appetizer and wow, they were really good. They could have been bigger pieces of pickle, but they were crispy and not soggy at all. I ordered the Pittsburgh Salad with Grilled Chicken and ranch dressing and it was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, the service was good and the final bill for all of us didn't break the bank. I'd go back!
