This past Sunday we had a fabulous meal featuring some creative and excellently prepared entres. From the smoked-jalapeno aioli to sweet-potato fries, to the honey-pepper-jack chick'n, cookies and apple pie - it was all very, very good. While they currently only serve breakfast and lunch, you can get a darn good meal at a fair price, menu for vegetarians and carnivores.Served in a very comfortable and friendly environment, this is one place that should be on the go to list. This was a very disappointing breakfast after all the high reviews. First there was no posted menu on yelp or the website, but I took faith that it would be well worth the trip. The menu was very limited with traditional breakfast. And everything was a la carte! Very expensive The simple eggs and add meat only come with toast. Really! No hash browns unless you add 2.50-3.00! That makes a simple egg bacon breakfast $15.00!! They claimed the eggs were so special. We first they served me a broken yolk for my over easy. And they were just the same as any eggs I have had Then the supposed home made biscuit was cut and toasted! Who does that! If the biscuits are made right they are already Browned and you want the inside to be tender and flakey, but browned and crust on both sides. Service was polite but very slow. Go to Mel's or Thomi's. Both have great food and a good price. read more

Uses locally grown veg, eggs and chickens! My tomato salad was full of ripe summer tomatoes... mmmm. D's salmon was small, but had delicious local veg (sweet potato, cherry tomatoes, zucchini and onions).. Portions were normal - not super sized. What a great place. Took my sister here for her birthday and we had mimosas. They have several different types. We both ordered off of their seasonal menu (which I love the idea of!) And we ended up sharing both because they were so delicious. I love the farm to fork concept, the food was to die for, the staff was so friendly and the place was adorable. Even though it was pretty packed (it's a small place), the food was out of sight and the service was great! Of course everyone would want to eat here. Delicious! Amazing! Cozy. Healthy. And did I mention delicious? I love this place. They are so accommodating to dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, etc). I had a soup here that blew my mind. It was one of those things that you have once and constantly crave. The food was so good and the staff is great. Fun farm to table menu--nice break from the standard greasy spoon fare. Brunch menu had good choices. I had the chefs Benedict- delicious turkey, crispy bacon (crispy the way bacon should be), jalapeño, poached eggs and hollandaise on a focaccia bun. awesome! My partner said you could tell the eggs were farm fresh because the yolk of my poached egg was had a rich orange tone. Staff were very friendly. read more

I have a bias for businesses in which the owner actually works because it shows that they actually take pride in their establishment. We stopped in here looking for lunch after touring the Kennedy Mine. Yelp didn't fail us. This place has a unique and quaint atmosphere with small tables pushed against the wall giving you a coffee house feel. The brunch burger has been reviewed before and I can see why. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. No need to put mustard or ketchup on it - plenty of flavoring all on its own. Sweet potato fries were also a tasty treat. And of course you can't forget to mention the watermelon infused water - what a wonderful treat on a hot day! Definitely would return! read more

Went back a few days ago and we were served by the owner-Mary. So nice and proud of what they offer and highlighted a lot of items they make in house. She was busy and the only server but made sure to check on us a lot. The bacon cheddar chowder is simply amazing! Paired with house baked soda bread--yum. read more

This is restaurant food at its best. Farm to table and happy chickens to boot! :-) My husband had a dish with black beans, greens and rice and absolutely raved about it. On the way to Twain Harte for a family reunion, we stopped for lunch in Jackson. What a lovely surprise to find this special spot where we were so warmly welcomed and treated like old friends. Mary's blueberry pie is exceptional, but it's hard to keep room for dessert and resist the smoky tender brisket sandwich with dipping au jus, or their generously portioned eggs Benedict with hollandaise over a pile of ham and lots of potatoes. I came in for the chicken and waffles, but since they raise their own chickens, none had been harvested in time for me :( Still, their grilled chicken sandwich with apples was a nice twist. The decor is oddly dark, with purple and green walls, lighted in fluorescent fixtures, but don't let that deter you from a chance to experience Mary's kind and generous hospitality. Make an effort to seek out The Rosebud Cafe, worth a stop! Since it was Mothers Day weekend she gave me a lovely home grown lavender sachet. Another aside: my daughter left her purse and we weren't able to return before closing time so Mary mailed it to her office. Thanks for being super!!! read more

My Husband and I have been to Rosebuds before and enjoyed the food. We thought a nice Sunday morning would be better with a nice brekfast. When we got there it wasnt very crowded/busy and we were seated at a table right away.....the only problem is the Gal that seated us Never came back to ask us if we'd like coffee or if we were ready to order. We waited. After a while we saw the folks that came in right after us had their coffee, water and being asked what theyd like to order. We tried to get the waitresses attention to no avail....so we waited almost 15mins then decided to leave. Needless to say we will not return nor recommend Rosebuds :( read more

Wow how disappointing. I was excited about the farm to table concept. I knew it wasn't true when I took a bite of the frozen, super salty processed french fries. The meat on the burger might have been good if it wasn't so dry. That combined with the dry bun, made it pretty much inedible. I was the lucky one. My husband had the brisket and eggs. Good eggs but dry, over cooked, desiccated meat! Really, really gross. The service was great but that can't make up for the food. Even the peanut butter cookie was bad. The Rosebud Cafe was a very pleasant surprise- everything we ordered was delicious. The menu was creative and in addition to traditional cafe offerings had unique options, like the Alexander sandwich on challah bread, with pulled chicken, Brie, and a roasted tomato dressing. Had breakfast there this morning and absolutely loved it. Service was great...we were hosted by one of the son's of the owner. He was friendly, fast and quick witted. Love it when folks join in for a little banter and silliness. Everything we had was farm to table and as fresh and mouth watering as you could ask it to be. Being a tried and true Texan, I love southern cooking and hold things like biscuits and gravy as sacred ground. Rosebud's talked me into trying their scratch biscuits with something new...a brisket gravy instead of the traditional sausage gravy I love so much. It was exceptionally good and a very unique take on a favorite dish. I had egg whites only "Loaded: Denver omelette with sausage and mushrooms. Very well done. Wife had the California Eggs Benedict and said it was spot on. The star on her plate for me was the twice cooked and smashed country potatoes. Very tasty and worth her irritated glares as I stole from her plate. Coffee was hot, fresh and kept coming...everyone was friendly and upbeat. We'll be back the next time we head through the Amador Valley area for wine tasting. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. read more

We wanted to try the Rosebud cafe. It seems to have nothing but great reviews, well here is another one! It has to be one of best places around. The best French toast I have ever had! My husband had the eggs Benedict, and they were even better. Packed place, but we didn't have to wait every long. The staff is awesome, and even with a full house they take time to chat with the customers. Would return again for sure. I think anyone who tries here will not be disappointed. read more

This cafe, on my opinion, is very expensive for what you get. $15 to $16 for an omelette or even just sausage and eggs or bacon and eggs, then if you get potatoes, which are very good, you have to pay an additional $3 for an order of toast. I have never been to a restaurant that charged extra for bread. Water was pleasant with fresh strawberries afloat, and the help was pleasant. Doubt we would return, as the prices are just outrageous for breakfast good. read more

Went Sunday morning for breakfast. Pretty much everything on menu seemed very high-priced ($9 for oatmeal??), but we went ahead and ordered anyway. Both of us got the French toast made with challah bread, berries and lemon creme fraiche. Bread was very light and fluffy, lightly battered, too. Could have been hotter. Very few berries. Coffee marginal. Service was attentive. Table was rather sticky. All in all, would probably not return because the prices are outrageous for a little town shop, even if it is in the touristy gold country. read more

Our camping rally held a dinner here for 50 people and it was a great experience. The food was very good, staff was friendly and we had a wonderful time. The salad was great. It was served with cheese, candied walnuts and small rolls. The salmon was cooked to perfection and presented over a bed of baby roasted potatoes and topped with a sauce and then a beautiful garnish. Desert was a poached pear served over a bed of cinnamon honey and topped off with a homemade ginger cookie. We will definitely go back. This is a jewel, located on Main Street in Jackson. read more

We stopped in on Sunday for some coffee and desert, after we where seated and got the menu we noticed there was no desert on the menu. We asked the waitress if they had any cake or pastry because we only wanted coffee and cake and she said o yes we do we have and she told us all stuff they had, so we settled on apple pie. The coffee was good the apple pie was mediocre at best and the real shock came with the check $27.43 for 2 cups of coffee and 2 slices of apple pie. i had a hard time keeping my composure bud decided not to say anything and just paid the bill and left never to return. For clarification we where never told the price for the order at the time of the order. A follow up phone call did not bring any resolution. read more

Farm Fresh foods served up with a dose of comfort. The family farm is the origin for much of the food served at this local establishment. Family and tradition are steeped into the walls and ways of this eatery. You can find family members scattered through out the restaurant manning the cash register, serving up dishes or grilling the unbeatable hash. On the off chance you find music emanating from the sunny side of the eatery, you won't be disappointed. Quirky in it's atmosphere but solid in it's food pairings.
