I've been going to this Rosebud location for over a decade. My family would have dinner here often and we loved the food. Now years later I have been here a few times for date nights. The food has gone through a small change over the years. The quality of food is there there.
However, I would not recommend this for Valentine's Day! My date made reservations for Valentine's Day 2019 and I was so excited because I knew Rosebud was classy and had good Italian food. We were on time for our reservations at 8:00pm. I knew it was a special date night, so I expected it to be busy. The place was packed with other couples waiting with reservations as well. We waited around 20 minutes until we were called. We were led upstairs! Out of the multiple times I've dined here, I've never been upstairs. The upstairs was pack with other couples and to my surprise, everyone was sitting at plastic chairs and tables! Seriously, we had come to Rosebud because it was classy, more upscale but still inviting. We were seated at a bigger, round table (for just two of us) with both of our plastic seats next to each other. It was just awkward and we were pretty mad, but we did not want it to ruin our night. When our server came, we did mention how we were surprised with the table and chairs. She told us they were packed with 600 reservations if I remember correctly. Now, Rosebud I get it...you want to make money. But please do not allow that to ruin your reputation as well as our date night. I do feel like we should have been warned about what we were going to sit at because my guy expected to take me to one of my favorite Italian places and instead we felt like we were at an overcrowded picnic. We knew what we wanted (apps, and entrees) quickly so we ordered within a few minutes of sitting down because it we didn't we probably would have been waiting for a long time. We had the fried calamari which is always good..you get a fair amount in it for two people. I like eating the bread and usually you get a basket of bread, but to my surprise we only received four smaller, not warm pieces. We each had two pieces and we had to ask for the oil and cheese. After some waiting, our entree came out. We both had the vitello bracciola, which I love. It is veal wrapped with cheese on top of gnocchi in a red sauce. It's so good and filling. We finished our meal and were ready to leave.
So moral of this story: Rosebud I was highly disappointed because I had an expectation of the dining experience based on my many prior experiences. The dinner felt cheap for the amount of money we were spending on the food. The ratio of patrons to servers was ridiculous, and many people looked to be waiting a long time for their food. Next time let the person know the quality of the experience will be lower in order to fulfill greedy restaurant needs. I won't be back for a while and I sure will never dine here for Valentine's Day here again, shame. read more
