See Urbanista as a happy-go-lucky spot in the Plateau Mont-Royal area where music keeps playing and smiles don't stop. Their style is mish-mash but comes together in their own funky way: Cabbage Patch Doll perched up on a shelf, some small decorative palm trees and tchotchkes everywhere. The bar looked is stocked with a nice arsenal of bottles but our Midori Sour and hubs' Jack & Coke drinks were pure juice and no strength. To add, when I tried using my Yelp check-in offer, I was told that they didn't know anything about the offer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Plus it was almost upsetting that they thought I wanted a 'free' drink when it was actually an 'offer' their business put out. Anyhow. The owner(?) was pleasant and even though she didn't know about the Yelp check-in offer, Urbanista's vibe is really up our alley. Since cocktails didn't wow me, perhaps their bites would've.

Added a nice splash of seafood taste into the salad. The stracciatella was amazing. White Asparagus (8.5/10): Very well-executed. Asparagus was tender. The greens on top were nicely charred. Sauce was tasty. Buckwheat Cake (8/10): Excellent cake. Simple, but decadent. Not too sweet either Though this is the top-ranked restaurant in Montreal, I still have to say Beba is my favorite. Although Mon Lapin is good, the service and taste both fall short of Beba's.

I will crave those!! The only critique I have is the duck was a little chewy and could have been a little more crispy/fried. But aside from that everything was amazing and fresh. Also, the wine selection was great. The staff were informative and nice. They timed out all the course perfectly. I told my husband I'd literally fly to out here for 24 hours just to make dinner reservations here and leave the next day. It's expensive but it's very well worth it. Also, the size of the restaurant looks small, but it is very spacious. You don't feel crowded.

The hotel itself where the restaurant resides is very beautiful. We were seated by the fire with a gorgeous view of the lake! We ordered a bottle of sparkling water, which was good, but $10 beware! We both had glasses of Pinot noir, which was juicy and filled with fruit notes. For lunch, I had the veal Milanese. It was hands down the best piece of veal I had. It was crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. The salad on top (oranges, radishes) was so bright and cut the fatiness of the veal. The sauce was a Remalode sauce that added a creaminess to the dish. I especially loved the fried capers, which added a hint of saltiness. My husband enjoyed the grilled salmon, but felt it was too small. The service was amazing! We would definitely be back!

We got situated in the bottom floor area where there was a Dj and other patrons enjoying their drinks and food. Menu for food wasn't extensive, more for snacking than dining imo. Server came back with fries and our drinks. My drink was surprisingly good, I had to make sure there was no alcohol, since I could taste somewhat of gin in there, but there wasn't! The fries were hot and fresh, so good! They were being rude because they didn't tip when it's always optional. The people who didn't tip weren't really served and didn't eat... I don't know, not an ideal situation for the group mixed with the service. The lady that serviced us was super nice but the two men who helped with the party were not. The decor is so cozy and warm...the brick walls, the leather sofas and small tables make this place absolutely lovely. There is a great Selection of wine (they even have orange wines) and the food menu has a bit of everything is you want to just munch. The only bad thing is that you absolutely need to order food if you are consuming alcohol as they don't have their liquor license which is a bit counter intuitive since it is a wine bar by night (coffee shop during the day). The tables are also very close to each other so you can definitely hear the conversation of your neighbors so might not be the best place if you are on a first date. Wonderful curation of nerdy, interesting and TASTY wines. The service was friendly but they seemed short staffed that night. We were trying to refill our water glasses but it took a while since I couldn't find any waiter or waitress around. Now let's start with the food: Focaccia: 5/5 bread was warm, toasty and tasty but the dip was the highlight Leeks with smoked mackerel, mustard, tobikko: (2.5/5) too creamy with a hint of mackerel and leeks Calamari chou-fleur, asian pear, chili beurre blanc: (2/5) very soupy and too much cream and not flavorful Black cod miso sauce, daikon, kale: (2.5/5) cod was tender but my bite had too much miso on it. It was extremely salty and not well balanced Beef tartare with mushrooms, Asiago: (1/5) mushy texture and way too much Asiago cheese. Flank steak with burnt chili salsa, szechuan pepper sauce, pickled peppers: (2/5) steak was not tender at all and the sauce was overwhelming Fried sea bass with bok choy, soya, nuoc mam (3/5): presentation was great but too many bones with too little meat. Flavor was good and I enjoyed the warm crispy fish with the Vietnamese style salad Overall, my special dinner was disappointing. I felt like the main ingredient never shined and their cheese or cream or sauce were just too overpowering. I really wanted to like Cadet but it fell short of my expectations.
