I called and asked if they had a couples massage room and was told yes, when we showed up it was a giant room with sections partitioned by curtains but not fully enclosed rooms. The couples room was super tight with barely enough room to walk around the beds. No biggie, that's more on the masseuse than us guests. Massage started and we were right next to a sink so we kept hearing the loud noise of dumping buckets of water, filling buckets of water and shaking open plastic bags to prepare for other patrons getting a foot massage. If they had a fully enclosed room this noise probably wouldn't be too bad. The massage bed was super hard and had a hole in the bed instead of a separate face attachment, so that was a bit uncomfortable. There is a sheet to cover you, plus a towel, which they do the first portion of the massage through. Then it's removed from your back for a deep massage with oil. I just got home, and thought I share another great experience. David is just so amazing... his hands are like magic, and you can tell by the way he flows in his massage that he truly cares about going deep and into those knots; to rolling it out. I always request for my pressure points and my deep tissue more on the hard side, due to my back being so tense and stiff. But for 120 minutes once again was $70. This time I tipped $40, because he did not disappoint. I walked out feeling less tense, more relax than ever. Yes. there was a little noise in the beginning with the ladies talking to bring in customers. But sheesh, once the massage got going, I was able to tune the noise out, and frankly enough... it got quiet. The massage chairs are close together in a big room, so if you are the type of person that needs privacy you might want to pay more for a private room. The massage itself was okay. I look forward to the feet section of the massage, but this lady focused most of the time on the center of my feet. Next time I'll voice specific areas where I want my feet massaged. They seem to have a set routine, so I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. For $20, what do you expect? Anyway I enjoy the heels and balls of my feet to be attended to, but there's wasn't much attention given to those areas. They ask you to take your shirt off, which I was fine with. Stopped by last night for a massage here and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of my massage. They were busy, I didn't make an appointment, but they worked it out. I did a 60 minute body and 30 min foot massage for $50. My masseur, Annie, did a great job of working on stress knots in my back and shoulders. I also really enjoyed her reflexology work. She was very good at stretching and they were immensely helpful. They use an unscented oil, maybe flaxseed, which I appreciate because some of the scents in the oils and creams can be so offensive. The oils used were also very nourishing. When I woke this morning my skin felt amazing! It's also worth mentioning that they use a medical grade cotton cloth on the table for your face when you are on your stomach. There have been times where a massage has been great but my face gets irritated by the towel they've wrapped around the hole. This was perfect. I never even knew it was there. The only reason I didn't award an additional star was the interior, so nothing serious... They don't sell books of massages, but pick up a **stamp card**to receive a reward after a number of visits! I WAS WRONG...you get a private area which is divided by a curtain, good enough for me. They asked if I wanted male or female, I didn't care so I was paired with a man. Explained I was having lower back pain which he could have focused a bit more time on. Honestly it's a good thing I'm comfortable with myself and massages because the guy decided to massage my butt and his pants got a bit close during the session lol. Overall tho, my only complaint is that there is no cushion for your forehead when lying down for the massage...my body felt much better, but I left with a headache because my forehead literally hurt. I arrived a few minutes early, and was greeted by a tiny surly lady, who led me to a private room. The place is clean and simply decorated, in typical budget Chinese massage style. They have several private rooms separated by curtains, and a larger communal area for foot massages. The room was very cold, and there was no a blanket for warmth-only a thin sheet. My masseuse instructed me to completely undress, and we got started. She began with some pressing, but the pressure was very weak. I paused the massage to explain to her that I have several tight knots in my upper back, and that she could go MUCH harder. I came here for body work, not to be gently caressed. She continued the half-assed pressing for about 15 minutes, and then placed hot stones on my back. The hot stone portion was the best part, but only because the heat felt good. She continued barely putting in any effort, just moving them around. The rest of the massage was a joke. Her technique was not perfected and seemed rushed and careless. I left feeling exactly the same as when I walked in. I have literally had more beneficial massages from pedicure chairs. Despite the laughably bad service I tipped my masseuse $10, and she did not even say thank you. I stumbled upon this place back in 2018 while in Grad school at CSULB. I would come every few months because of Yuna. She is amazing. I started coming every week since March (COVID-19), because I now work remote and I am practically seated 16 hours a day. I tend to get lower back pain every so often due to bad posture, so I come to Rose Massage and get their 1 hour or 1.5 hour full body massage every week. I've been to high end massage places in Santa Monica and West Hollywood, and they honestly do not compare to Rose Massage LB. For a fraction of the price, you get twice the quality and care here. Sometimes I just come to treat myself, even if I don't need it per say. I find the pricing reasonable, the only negative thing is there is little to no noise control.
