This was my first time eating at this establishment. Food, service and ambiance were all 5 star. The gentleman that served us was warm and fatherly in a very attentive manner. I ordered the gyro salad, while my son decided on the lamb gyro wrap with French fries. We both were delighted with our food; beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. For drinks I chose latte to revive me after a 6 hours drive from Amelia island back to Duluth. Had dinner here last weekend! We were greeted and seated warmly right away. Looks like a family run business. Service was efficient! We ordered grape leaf appetizer, a veggie platter and a spicy beef kebab plate. Food was good. Sautéed veggies as a side is an amazing dish. Beef was cooked perfectly, don't know if I would order it spicy again. Hummus was dolloped on top of falafel in the veggie platter - I think next time I would ask for it to be on the side. I made a return trip to this restaurant tonight for dinner. So glad I did. I got the chicken kebab (spicy) with basmati rice and sautéed vegetables. It was so delicious and so healthy. I exclaimed to the owner, "I think you added one more year to my life!" Of course I had to balance that by taking some baklava home for dessert. Went for lunch during the week and had a great experience. Server offered her recommendations and we stuck with those! Started with the feta dip and then most everyone in our group got the kebabs. After looking through Yelp for some dinner suggestions, I finally landed on this restaurant where the reviews drew me in to try it out. I came here with my family, and we decided to go with the bang bang shrimp to start off. The shrimp came out pretty quickly after ordering and was reasonably priced at $12. The shrimp was very crispy and the sauce connected it really well. I loved that it came with lettuce at the bottom which was a nice balance. For our mains we went with the Mediterranean chicken burrito combo, supreme chicken combo, supreme chicken platter and the chicken kabob. The buritto was very light and was stuffed with chicken, rice and some veggies. I liked how light it was and the amount of chicken that came with it. The supreme chicken combo came in a pita bread and was seasoned super well. I liked it more than the buritto. Both of these came with fries on the side which were good but wish they were seasoned. The supreme chicken platter came with tzakiki sauce, 4 pieces of pita and a salad. The mushrooms and chicken were seasoned well and quite juicy. I liked the house chips that came on the side as well. I liked how they were crispy and the potato being mushy inside. The star of the show was definitely the chicken kabob which was absolutely delicious and juicy and seasoned so well. We got the toasted veggies in the side which were also very tasty. The saffron rice was very fragrant and quite delicious and paired well. The restaurant does have limited seating, but luckily there were empty tables for us during a Sunday lunch. They do offer takeout and do take reservations as well. I really don't like leaving reviews like this, but I'm compelled to. I do think the owners are being honest with what they're offering. I had the gyro wrap and it was by far the worst I've ever had, period. The meat cannot be real lamb. Their might be very very little lamb meat in it, but it didn't look, smell or taste like real gyro. It tasted more like chopped meat and the consistency was like large crumbs of chopped meat. Dry as can be too. Lots of fillers. The pita bread broke apart too. I don't like paying for something that's falsely advertised. Owner: STOP making this fake gyro! This place is the epitome of mom and pop hard work. Family run, solid food, pleasant decor, and the best kind of pride. You'll be happy you tried it if thats what you like. The Good: The food was very good and fresh across the board. This is the food of someone who appreciates people and life and not cutting corners. Super clean inside and owners and staff are top notch. The Challenges: I would have liked one more chunk of lamb in my kabob box. For the cost, it felt short. Nothing otherwise. We've eaten here a few times in the past, but recently we were surprised by the increase in prices, especially at lunch time. I ordered dessert *tiramisu and coffee, and I can tell you I was shocked to find that I was charged $5.50 each for a cup of coffee. The tiramisu was delicious, and $9.00. My dessert order came to $22.00. I think that R&O may get some new customers in once, but I doubt they will be in after seeing how high the prices have gone. This my second time coming to eat at this restaurant. The first time I came, I was placed on a section by myself and practiced for 40 minutes. Once I brought this to my servers attention, he made sure to rectify the situation and was completely apologetic. The food was amazing however. I brought my mom and cousin here today, because it's close to Emory John's Creek hospital. We ordered the calamari and it was mostly breading and scraps. Roses and Olives is a cute little restaurant, ambience is ok, nothing fancy and that's ok. Same applies for service, service is ok, some staff is friendlier than others. The bad part is the food. Took my family there last night, my Supreme Chicken Wrap was horrible. The chicken was so dry it actually smelled and tasted old. The wrap overall was pretty bad. My son had a lamb gyro, nothing great as well, the problem is that he ended up being sick at night with terrible stomach cramps. Which is why I am writing this review. I have been going to this restaurant for years, ever since they opened. I do love the food and service. Unlike almost any other restaurant, they are very accommodating. I have sent and entertained new customers a number of times and they have always returned. For a restaurant in this price range and location, it is very nicely decorated with beautiful scarves covering the tables. The sanitation rating is always good. My only complaint for a long time has been the Greek salad. It's lettuce, tomato, sometimes a little onion and dressing. I expect a mediterranean or Greek salad to have olives, feta and pepperoncini, etc. They charge enough for the salad to be better dressed. When I want a nice mediterranean salad or Greek salad I go elsewhere. I still give this restaurant 5 stars because of the kind service, flexibility, willingness to please, and the other food is excellent. read more

The portion sizes were very disappointing. My wife and I eat out 3 times a week. Many different restaurants. The calamari suffered by presentation, with a few pieces of squid, on a small plate, that looked empty. This was our first time dining here and overall the food was pretty good. The hummus was delicious and my favorite thing we ordered. I am not eating rice so I asked the waitress if I could substitute vegetables or salad for it with the chicken barg. She said she couldn't do salad, but could do extra sautéed veggies. When we got our entree the vegetables tasted like microwaved vegetables not sautéed at all, but the chicken was good. The salad was the tiniest portion I have ever seen and had one tomato and a few tiny pieces of feta. Definitely not what I think of a Greek salad with olives, peperoncini and quality feta. It was so disappointing. When we got our bill my husband noticed he was charged $4.00 for the extra veggies which is crazy considering she didn't say that and you could add a side Greek salad for that which I would have done if given the option since the salad was tiny. Considering Rumi's is our favorite and we enjoy Noosh nearby I don't see us returning anytime soon. read more
