We absolutely loved the food at Nara. Also the restaurant is so nicely decorated and is so elegant. We had great service with Sarita. She made sure we were taken care of. We started the meal with their complimentary appetizer and fries for my son. I got the shish tawouk with chicken with Nara saffron basmati rice. My husband ordered the Nara's grill with beef barg and koobideh kabob. Everything we ate was scrumptious and delicious. For dessert we got creme brûlée and ice cream. And ofcourse ended with Turkish coffee which was nice and strong. Will definitely will be back and sit again at the bar area since Sarita was so awesome!!!! read more

Absolutely amazing everything. This restaurant may single handedly convince me to try more Mediterranean cuisine. The service was excellent. The food was brought out in a timely manner. There was also a complimentary cheese plate which was much appreciated. They also serve beyond meat kebab which was spectacular. Always appreciate restaurants that care for the vegetarians as well. The place was really thoughtfully decorated as well. Can't wait to go back! read more

The food here is really good, but it's rather on the more expensive side. My friend and I shared two appetizers, two entrees, and one whiskey drink for a total of $143. Or so that's what I saw when I peeked. She picked this place as she's been here before with her workplace. She said that the meat here is halal so that was a cool fact. Also, the owner used to have a restaurant in Dubai. I've never had food, even down to the veggies (and I'm not a fan) that I thought was delicious. So this place seems really legit. The complimentary naan and tidbits of walnuts, olives + raddish, and cheese were pretty good. The naan looks like it was made in-house and looked and tasted really different. It had a light and airy taste and feel. The Nara's wings were plump and juicy. I'm the kind of gal that prefers the cleaner dry rubs and flavors. To me, a saucy wing is just masking how bland the meat really is. But no! These looked and tasted wonderful. Yes, I said it. It tasted wonderful! With 3 wings and 3 of the little drums, this will cost you $13. The grilled shrimp was humungous and oh so good. When you think grilled, you think healthier with not so much flavor, but think again. The sauce and flavors really stuck to the shrimp. It was as if it sat soaking in the juices and yumminess for days. This was also very plump and tasty. These 3 pieces for $18 was just not enough! I initially wanted the maqluba ($28). I do love the carbs! But that was the very thing that was pointed out to me is that this pick was primarily rice with very little lamb. I then picked the lamb shank ($28). And with this pick it's more of a stew-like dish. So the lamb kabob ($35) was recommended to me. Even the rice (I chose the dill and fava bean rice) was flavorful and different. I didn't expect a punch in flavor when it hit my mouth. It was salty but full of spices. Oh the spices in everything. To close the evening, we had the assorted blaklava which comes with 4 pieces for $10. My friend said the kanaffa is apparently really good as well. Service was pretty on par. Our main waitress knew her menu well and provided good recommendations. Apparently you can park on either side of the restaurant. There's a backside and front where the main parking lot is along with where the front entrance faces. read more

First time visiting this place. ‼FYI: if you want hookah they allow you to smoke on their rooftop, ONLY. the space (kinda covered, but still very cold on the roof), they did have tall heaters BUT it didn't help much honestly and they didn't want to move them closer to us to feel the warmth. SERVICE: 9/10 I waiter Angel (I think that's his name) he was pleasant and accommodating (as much as he could be). Music was cool too. They took requests(no dj, just aux cord vibes) still a vibe. AESTHETICS: cute inside the restaurant, and the rooftop was decorated cute, and couch was comfy. OVERALL: 3.5/5 I would definitely visit again (but in the Spring/Summer. We didn't eat. We went for hookah and vibes. I'll come back to try the food though! read more

This cute Mediterranean spot is in Johns Creek. Inside was gorgeous, great ambiance. We sat on the rooftop which was a bit empty yet there was a belly dancer to entertain the few of us there. It was incredibly hot on the rooftop, actually hotter than being outside. I tried the Salmon and Lamb, both were absolutely delicious. The food alone was 10/10. They also had Hookah but that is only available on the rooftop. Definitely a great spot to check out when in the area. read more

Came her on a Friday night with a few friends to celebrate ladies night. The place was beautiful and the service was great! The food was amazing! I'm not a big fan of Persian food but this place may have changed my mind. I ordered the sea bass with the Nara rice and it was so amazing. All of us ordered something different and all shared. The cauliflower with the salmon also blew my mind. I really loved it. The cauliflower had a hint of spice to it not to spicy but the perfect amount of heat. It was sooooo delicious! I would definitely be coming back! read more

I have been to Nara several times and the only time I left not frustrated was on a Monday or Tuesday right around opening time (at the time was around 5-6 PM). This is one of the few rooftops in this area, so I really loved it. If you are looking for a more chill vibe, I suggest avoiding Nara on Friday and Saturday nights. The reason why I will more than likely never return to Nara is that their reservations are a nightmare. It is, firstly, so hard (if even likely) to walk in and get a table upstairs. Even if you are trying to get a table for 45 mins-1hr before you go, I suggest get a reservation and not try to walk in. Multiple times I have called and made reservations, days in advance, and was not seated in time (usually takes 20-30 mins to seat after your reservation time). Where one occurrence, I was even told I did not have a reservation when I had received their confirmation texts. If you are able to be seated, the music is loud and you will not be able to hear the person next to you. The food, I would say, is a fusion of Persian / Arab cuisine. You can get both zereshk polo and maqlooba here! The food is not bad, but did receive a completely cold maqlooba one time. I think even in their Persian dishes they use different spices that aren't authentic Persian. I did come here for my birthday, and they brought out a very cute birthday baklava with a candle and put on happy birthday. read more

Come to Nara around 9PM with a rooftop reservation if you want to hookah, drink, and eat to belly dancers who start performing around 9:30. We took a few shots at the bar while we were waiting for our table which took a while since bar service was slow. On the rooftop, the music is very loud (we had to request them to turn it down) because we couldn't even hear each other talk at our loudest volumes. If you want to hookah away from the loud music, you can reserve a patio table on the ground floor. Food: The hummus, wings, and spicy Nara fries were delicious as apps with the wings being my favorite. The combination kabob platter was a LOT of food, but I only enjoyed the beef barg for its tenderness and was not impressed by the lamb, ground beef, or chicken. Overall, I would come back to Nara to hookah with appetizers and skip most of the entrees as I've found better Persian food in the area, but none with the fun rooftop atmosphere. read more

The location looked outstanding! The atmosphere was fantastic, the decor upscale, and everything looked really clean. Upon walking in I was very excited to try the food. Unfortunately the food does not live up to the decor or the prices!! For Persian food there are much better places... my favorite is the Persian Basket! I suggest going there and having great food Vs this. My wife is Persian and makes fantastic Persian food... so it can be tough for us to find food that compares or lives up to our expectations. Our whole family loves Persian food and eats it quite regularly. We started with the wings. They were delightful, light and lemony. My youngest loved them... they fell off the bone with little effort... I thought they were quite good. For our meals my wife and I ordered the kabob, my oldest order the steak kabob, and my youngest ordered the shrimp. Prices are really quite high here especially for the reg kabob. You do get two good size kabobs but again the prices are out of line when compared to other locations. We know what it takes to make them... my wife does it quite often... and for the effort needed these prices are just pure robbery. The kabobs had a flavor/spice to them that made them just off. The texture was good, the cook was good, but this spice (maybe Cardamom) was overwhelming and I have never had kabob with this flavor. My wife didn't like it all, I tried to muscle through it... especially at these prices... but couldn't either. My oldest's steak kabob had the same issue... he didn't like his either. My youngest's shrimp was the best meal at the table... the spice flavor was not as prevalent but it was still there. The shrimp were huge! The fries were good. My youngest ate some of the shrimp and then some of my kabob. I ate the rest of his shrimp... again the shrimp were the star of the night. Service was great... really nice young girl but she didn't know anything about the wine selections... just way young... no big deal... she was always trying to be helpful. She was very delightful and always near buy... until it came time to pay. Then we waited and waited and waited! The bill came and I about fell over.. especially considering we were leaving more food then we ate. It was a pure waste of money and food. My whole family was disappointed. We could have gotten much more food, that was way better, at the other place we liked and really wished we had gone there instead. I don't know exactly what the spice was that was used but it really was way too strong... and just wrong for true Persian food. My wife's family is Persian, she is obviously Persian, I have eaten at a lot of Persian places, we have had many home made Persian meals and never have I ever had kabob that tasted like this. We won't be going back... read more

Nara is a chic Middle Eastern restaurant in Johns Creek that offers indoor and rooftop seating. We had reservations for the rooftop, which was very nice, but way too windy. We ultimately decided to dine inside and it was a classy and romantic ambiance. A lot of couples were enjoying their date night. I had the Milli Kew cocktail and it was weak in all honesty. The waitress brought out a complimentary bread tray with walnuts, goat cheese, olives, and tomatoes. Very tasty and authentic. For our main entree, I had the lamb kabob with barberry rice and my friend had the koobideh kabob with spicy cauliflower. The dishes were delicious and beautifully presented but the grilled vegetables were lackluster. We ended our dinner with a delicious baklava cheesecake and it was sweet and savory. Everyone was super sweet and accommodating from the hostess to the waitress. Excellent service. read more

This may be our new favorite middle eastern restaurant in the area. It was super easy to get reservations on a Sunday. The decor of the place is beautiful on the main level. We didn't venture upstairs to the patio since we had our baby with us but even on chilly nights they had the outdoor heaters going. They typically have a few wine bottle selections that are 25% off. We ended up picking the Quilt Cabernet which was pretty good. Love their free starter. The feta/goat cheese was really fresh. Just want them to add some walnuts to the platter and it would be great. We ended up ordering the mirza ghasemi for our started. The eggplant was seasoned and cooked well and we liked the creamy topping they had. Based on our server's recommendation, I choose the chicken koobideh which was 2 skewers of very flavorful chicken and your choice side of rice, salad, or cauliflower. I opted for the red lentil rice. It also comes with this pita and a yummy red topping. You get to pick your sauces with your entree and I highly recommend getting the red and green hot sauces. It complimented our meals perfectly. I wasn't a huge fan of the garlic sauce. Hubby got the Nara Special which allows you to get 2 skewers of your choice. He went with chicken and beef and he enjoyed his meal as well. He went with the house rice as his side and liked it. The food, service, and ambiance were great. We can't wait to go back! read more

Came here for a date night. Getting here early, and leaving early was the main goal as that week that I went it was Thanksgiving week. When we went, it was pretty dead around 6 PM. We placed reservations for tables, but after we got there it wasn't really needed as there were plenty of tables. I would say if you do come later with a bigger party that it would probably be a smart idea to do that. We started with appetizers and also a drink. For starters, we shared the kibbeh, hummus, and the koobideh crustini. For drink, I got their Picture of Nectar. This drink was sort of like their version of a manhattan if ytou're trying to Following the apps and for the entree, I ordered the lamb shank. All of the appetizers weren't bad. But I do have to say, that if you're not a lover of onions, this is a hard cuisine to get into. Almost all dishes have onions, and mass amounts of it. I enjoyed the kibbeh and the crustini, the hummus was great as well and definitely should be an order if you're not a lover of onions. For the mains, my lamb shank was pretty great. I also got the saffron rice, which I thought was different. Lightly flavored by that saffron, and the long grain rice that you always see for Mediterranean food. The lamb shank slid off the bone which was great. Overall, Nara is a pretty solid choice if you're looking for Mediterranean food. Note that the interior decoration is pretty top notch. I found myself fiddling with the table light. read more

First time coming to Nara and the overall food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing! To start off, making the reservation was very seamless and we were able to update our reservation 2 days before. After we ordered, complimentary bread came out and this had to have been some of the best bread we ever had. We ordered a side of hummus and requested 2 extra orders of bread to finish all of it! We also ordered a side of falafel that came with a nice dipping sauce. Our waitress also helped recommend entrees and drinks while bringing out the appetizers. Our party got 5 drinks in total and they were all on the stronger side. The entrees took a while to get out despite the restaurant not being very busy. Unfortunately when we came they were all out of shawarma, so the majority of us settled with a beef kebob or nara grill with beef. Both were quite tender, large in portion size, and extremely flavorful & well seasoned. To finish the night, we received a complimentary dessert for our friends birthday! read more

Great ambience and great food. One of thousand truly genuine lounges where you ca hang out with family or friends and enjoy some really good and authentic Mediterranean cuisine. We tried hummus, falafel, grilled shrimp, beef barg and chicken kabobs and they were all outstanding. Try the Nara rice as a side and you won't be disappointed. Hands down, this is our favorite Persian restaurant in Johns Creek; the food is excellent and, although it's very expensive, we keep coming back. However, during our last trip there on Valentine's Day, we met with a rude awakening. They suspended the normal menu for a fixed-price $60pp menu, with no other option. There was no announcement made on their website or OpenTable about this change, which is what upset me. Also, corkage magically doubled in price for V-Day from $25 to $50. The hostess kept arguing with me that it had always been the higher price, but she's wrong. I remember these things and it's part of the reason we come back...no gouging. But, it seems that's all they were interested in this particular night. So, we left. Walked into our favorite Italian spot with no res, got to choose from fixed or regular menu and paid $15 for corkage. The lesson here for Nara is never take yourself too seriously. The people who keep you in business can also shut you down if policies get in the way of a great fine dining experience. Please change your policy back? read more

Went here for a little girl's night dinner with a friend! The inside of the restaurant was absolutely beautiful! Even though it was raining, we opted to sit on the patio upstairs for the ambiance and hookah. I ordered the grilled salmon kebab with the dill and fava bean rice and my friend ordered the grilled shrimp kebab. The portions aren't great, definitely enough for leftovers. They also play a mix of great lounge like music to set the vibes. My only complaint was the cats lounging around on the patio furniture near our table, like they helped pay for our meal. A cute restaurant with great food and drinks. Comfortably located in a shopping plaza with ample parking. Their bar is the accent piece of the restaurant, very pretty. Its tastefully decorated with beautiful chandelier pieces and table center pieces. We came for dinner and drinks. We ordered the paloma and an old fashion. Both were great but the old fashion was spot on. For food we decided to do tapas style; we got Falafel, hummus, roasted eggplant dip and fries. Each was well flavored. Half off wine bottles on Tuesdays! A perfect reason to come and have a feast at Nara! In addition to the pretty indoor decor, food and service was wonderful. My friend and I split a Nara's grill platter, which let us choose two different proteins, and a side. This with a perfectly dressed and fresh Fattoush salad was the perfect amount of food for two gals. (Along with complimentary bread and accompaniments.) Great to have some good, pretty affordable Mediterranean food in Johns Creek! I will say that my friend had a bit of a hassle making a reservation for us, and when we got there, the restaurant was relatively empty. However, once we got there, the staff was super kind and attentive. The restaurant is also really cute, and the bar is cool. Food-wise, we ordered the hummus and falafel for the table. I really loved the hummus, especially since they added fried chickpeas to the top for a nice crunch. The falafel was also super crispy and I liked the yogurt sauce they added on the side. For entrees, we decided to split the chicken koobideh with the nara fries and the veggie platter with the saffron basmati rice. The chicken koobideh was some of the best I've had (definitely better than Rumi's!). It was tender and flavorful. The fries on the side were also delicious; they were wedges that were coated in a lemon, garlic butter sauce. The veggie platter was also really good, though a majority of the plate was onions. They did add some pineapple, which was a nice surprise! Overall, I thought the food here was really good! I would probably return. read more

We went to Nara to celebrate my husband's birthday with my family. As my parents only eat halal, it gets very tough to find a good enough upscale place. I would like to start by saying the place is gorgeous. I loved the decorations and the vibe of the restaurant. The food was okay. We have had better food at other halal places similar to this. However, it was good enough where I would go back just for the setting for special nights. The service was a bit slow for the most part and they seemed slightly understaffed. Came here for Mothers Day and had a tasty and filling meal! My family of 4 split the mixed grill which comes with two large sides. We chose the Nara rice and fries. The meat included lamb chops, beef kebab, ground beef koobideh, and chicken. The beef kebab and lamb chops were my favorite, super flavorful and tender. The sides were also really flavorful and well spiced. The portions were also decent and we left pretty full. It's a little dark inside, but there is rooftop seating that looks really nice. Ok. Where to start.. the place is a 2 story building. The main floor when you enter you are greeted by a modern and high end interior. You go outside to go upstairs where you find the roof top. A nice aesthetically pleasing open area fashioned with outdoor furniture in colors and textures that give you that Middle Eastern vive. The place is beautiful. The people are very sweet, friendly and of high quality. The upstairs is for 21 or older where the bottom floor is more family oriented. Not really sure why the top is 21 or older. I'm guessing it's because the way it's set up gives you room to start dancing. Which a lot of people did. It was very fun and entertaining. Now let's get to the food and drinks.. Definitely not impressed. They are pleasing to the eyes but not the taste. We only had appetizers and drinks but omg if the appetizers where that bad I'm definitely glad I didn't get a main course. Everything was too over seasoned. Very salty. Not a fine definition between the flavors. You will definitely get a kick of salt on every bite. The cocktails were too citrusy. It almost felt like salt, limes and lemons were their favorite ingredients. We ended up paying way too much for everything. Definitely not worth it. Everything is super expensive. Personally, if it were for just the entertainment, yes, I would come back. Like I said, everything is visually appealing. But for the food and drinks, heck to the duck NO! read more

The first red flag was calling the restaurant an hour before our reservation to confirm and the phone kept going straight to voicemail. My review is based on what my partner and I encountered with the manager tonight, hospitality is a trait that the manager who was running the host stand clearly lacks. Walking in to Nara's I clearly thought to myself that I didn't need a reservation since they had half of the restaurant empty and only a couple at the bar. Restaurant looked clean, I was excited to give this place another chance from our last poor experience. But this one took the cake! No one in the front to greet us. The manager walked over after waiting there for a few minutes already waiting to be greeted and asked if we had a reservation, I gave my name. He confirmed our reservation and told us it was for upstairs. Confused I commented, since I made reservations for the private dining area, since we decided to go on date night. He proceeded to tell us to go upstairs so we did. Upstairs felt like a high school party where clearly we weren't invited to, and definitely not set up for dining, we walked back downstairs and waited patiently at the host stand where the manager proceeded to ignore us until a set of guest walked in after us. He stated that there will be a wait for inside, we agreed and sat on the benches by the front as he proceeded to sit the family of 5 that came after us with a reservation at 9:15. But the cherry on top was the group of guys who walked in a few moments later which the manager proceeded to greet with handshakes and a smile(for a moment I thought he didn't know how to do that) they did not have a reservation but he insisted to them not to worry and told them to sit wherever they like. My blood started to boil but I kept my mouth shut sitting there by the benches. Finally we got sat but by the time we got sat at a table any appetite I had walking in vanished and we stood up and left since my partner and I could tell we weren't clearly welcomed here, but the message was received very loudly. read more

Once i got in the car I realized that the guidance didn't properly update, so I tipped 40%, instead of the 20% that I intended. Pay attention to this if you split checks. read more

Our bartender Aisling was super attentive and sweet. Great atmosphere, delicious food/drinks!

Food is good and would be a 4 if it wasn't for the disaster service. Servers were nowhere to be seen for up to 10 minutes in a completely empty restaurant at 530pm on a Friday. Our server had 2 tables (3 by the time we left) and it took forever for her to bring anything, take our order, etc. Had to ask for our bill 3 times only to find out they upcharged $9 for Ed tea bread service (which is not worth $9). The manager was nice enough to remove the charge but it doesn't excuse the terrible service. You saw managers walking around but they were ignoring the tables and I'm honestly not quite sure what they were doing but the lack of server and service at our table and others went unnoticed. Also, THE RUNNERS HELD FOOD AND HOT PLATES OVER MY CHILDS HEAD THREE TIMES AFTER BEING ASKED NOT TO. literally how are runners not trained to not endanger children. I've been here before and the service has never been so horrific as today. read more
