Sugo is an amazing place for great food. Upon first step inside, the lighting is dimmed, making it the perfect ambience for a date night with your partner. The tables are decorated simply, but just enough to give the overall setting a good vibe. My server was very helpful, giving his opinions on all food items as soon as he was informed that it was our first time in. We were given bread for the table and ordered an appetizer to share, which was beyond flavorful. We each ordered an entrée, and our server was nice enough to allow us to make modifications to each of our meals to ensure it was the "perfect" presentation. Additionally, we ordered a dessert to share, which was not overly sweet - the cherry on top of the cake!

Shrimp scampi, and a house salad

All in all this was a good experience. The service was good as was the food! I had the shrimp scampi and while I don't like the tails left on shrimp. I understand that sort of a chef's choice type of situation. So no marks off for that. I was surprised at how slow it was at the time that we ate, but it was only about five 530 on a Wednesday. Our waiter was great. They kept the waters filled and checked on us several times during the meal. I really appreciate that. It is a little bit expensive for the two of us. It was about 100 bucks.

Sugo has a very welcoming environment. I had reservations for 2026 Valentine's Day at 5pm. Zach was our server and he was on top of everything. The pre fixe menu had some great options as well. Both my girlfriend and I both had the oxtail flatbread which was great. I had the filet and the chocolate truffle gelato. All together, ambiance was great, although it did get very busy and it did get slightly loud towards the end. Great experience and would return

The restaurant has plenty of parking, which is a big plus. It does fill up quickly, so reservations are highly recommended. The lighting is a bit dim even during the day, as blackout curtains are used to create a specific atmosphere. The decor and ambiance are lovely. It's not too loud or noisy inside, which makes dining feel more relaxed. However, the tables are placed quite close together, so conversations from neighboring tables can be easily overheard at normal speaking volume. Our server, Katie, was absolutely charming and radiated positive energy. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and was attentive throughout our meal. We had: - Classico Salad: The dressing was tasty and well-balanced, and the vegetables were fresh. I especially enjoyed the touch of crispy shallots. - Burrata and Prosciutto: The marinated tomatoes on the grilled bread were delicious, and the prosciutto was excellent. The burrata was good as well, though we're just not big fans of burrata in general. - Shrimp Scampi: Since I'm not great with spicy food, they kindly substituted the noodles to make it non-spicy. It turned out to be a very satisfying dish. - Chocolate Mousse (Dessert): An excellent choice, not too sweet and flavorful. Katie also offered me a melon sorbet sample when I was looking for ice cream, but none of the available flavors quite suited my taste. It was a thoughtful of her to do so. All in all, it was a wonderful dining experience with excellent service. I would definitely return if I'm in the area. Highly recommended!

Such a nice and cute restaurant! Great for private parties, they have a private room you can rent, they have a really good old Fashion and the shrimp scampi is delicious

A change of plans on a recent Saturday afternoon had us scrambling to get a Saturday night dinner reservation within the goldilocks zone - which is typically between 5-6:30 PM - for us not yet, long in the tooth savorers of interesting foods & wines. We lucked out at Sugo, a restaurant I hadn't been to in over 10 years. Sugo, known for its eclectic menu & great service delivered the goods in spades. From the wonderful Spanish Brut rosé Cava through to our desserts, we were happily spoiled & our hunger satiated. Our reservation was originally made for Interior dining but we opted instead for an outside table. We moved to enjoy the great late May weather & to escape from the rather loud piped in background music. We thank owner, Mrs. C & her fine staff, especially Michelle, for a great evening. Tip: If weather cooperates grab an outside table in the shade.

Very pretty atmosphere. I enjoyed the coffee table art books while we waited. The staff was kind and helpful. The food was great. The Burrata and Prosciutto appetizer was totally worth the trip alone.

The best dining experience of 2024, and some of the best service I've ever had anywhere. Everything, from the food to the ambiance to the service, was outstanding. I truly can't praise this place enough. The owners, Frederico and Nancy, are shockingly friendly and welcoming. Seriously, they remind you of what truly great service should be. We ordered the eggplant parm, burrata appetizer, Aunt Lena's chicken, and Patagonian salmon, and every dish was phenomenal. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the chicken was incredible, the eggplant parm was unforgettable, and the burrata was exactly as it should be (and good burrata is increasingly difficult to find). I can't wait to return.

I was visiting Sugo with some out of town friends and what a great experience! One of the best espresso martinis I've ever had!! The burrata was outstanding. I visited Italy earlier last year and this was very comparable. I got the shrimp pasta which was delightful and a large portion (I brought some home). However, it was a little spicy so beware. The service was wonderful, however we had to wait over an hour for our table of 8 when we had a reservation which was inconvenient. The staff did apologize and give us complementary drinks and apps which was appreciated! The restaurant itself is very cute inside, perfect for a date night!

    Are reservations taken?

    Yes

    Is this place kid friendly?

Yes. In fact they have off-menu options like spaghetti or pasta and Alfredo sauce if the menu options don't appeal to kids.

    Is this place really BYOB?

Hi Pete! We do allow guests to bring their own for a $15 corking fee. We have a full liquor license and have all that you could desire if you wanted to order off our list.

Are there gluten free options? I see meat items but do you have GF pasta dishes?

I can definitively say yes, they have a gluten free menu. They also have a vegetarian menu. Just got home from eating dinner there tonight.

My husband and I have visited this place many times and have tried multiple items off the menu. On this visit we shared a salad and appetizer and each had our own "main course." Second, this might be the best Italian Hero I've had in recent memory. Great flavor, authentic ingredients and good balance. Nice job, Johan, and quick service as well. Lastly, Johns Creek doesn't have enough inexpensive quality places to eat. I mean, the list for, "how to spend at least $100 on dinner" is lengthy for this part of town. I might be a couple years late, but you'll definitely see us again. Now, let's work on that wine list... Cheers!

We were greeted warmly at the door and immediately seated. Herbert, the head waiter, knew the other couple and chatted briefly with them but seemed to ignore me when I tried to enter the conversation. Herbert's wife came to the table with fresh warm Italian bread and a dipping sauce made from fresh crushed pomodoro tomatoes, Italian seasonings, and goat cheese that was beyond reproach. We ordered cocktails while Jeff and Bambi sought out an appropriate bottle of wine. Their starter was a crispy aged provolone with vine ripened tomatoes sprinkled with oregano and black pepper. Arlee and I shared a plate of fried calamari and shrimp with fried onion strips and lemon rounds. This dish, served with two dipping sauces: a Calabrian aioli and the restaurant's pomodoro sauce was tasty and the seafood crisp. We ordered our mains. Again, the waiter turned his back when I sought to ask a question and left. Our table mates had the answer to my concern. While the noise level was high, the ambiance and conviviality of this restaurant was also high. Our table was in a corner and a little more intimate as well. Bambi ordered the Lasagna which was made with a veal based meat sauce, covered with bechamel, and baked with a coating of Mozzarella and sprinkled with Parmigiano. Likewise, Jeff ordered pasta, choosing the Gnocchi made with potatoes and covered with a four-cheese Alfredo sauce and sprinkled with toasted breadcrumbs. They loved their dishes. Arlee had the Grilled Lamb Chops that were accompanied by roasted Parmigiano potatoes, and a marinade made from olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, parsley and oregano. This sauce, called Salmoriglio, comes from Sicily. I had the 'star' of the evening; a pan-roasted veal chop with risotto made with four cheeses in a mushroom sauce and topped with quartered porcini mushrooms. The chop was done perfectly and the risotto was "to die for." I don't believe that I have had better, even in Italy. As the portions were large, we declined the dessert menu and finished the meal with varied coffees. Other than the seeming lack of professionalism on the part of Herbert, the servers and other staff members all sought to satisfy our every need. This faux pas by Herbert did little to cloud what was otherwise a marvelous experience. Would we return; definitely yes. Might I ask for another waiter; possibly. However, this high-end restaurant should be experienced. It's that good.

The menu descriptions are not clear. We ordered the calamari and shrimp for our table and when it came, it was a bowl of soup. The fettucinine carbonara was really a fettucini alfredo sauce. On a good note, the best part of the meal was dessert. We had the in-house made mascarpone cheesecake with the caramel sauce. That was wonderful, and I highly recommend. The staff was very nice. We ordered the calamari and bruschetta for appetizers and we were asked if we wanted the free garlic knots (BIG MISTAKE) The calamari were good especially because my husband and son prefer the rings and the whole plate were rings. My mother had never had them before (we didn't tell her what they were) and she also thoroughly enjoyed them. The bruschetta was ok; it was very different than I'm used to because it had tiny mozzarella balls in it, which were nice, but seriously lacked garlic and the tomatoes were blah. The thing I like about the most were the slices of bread around the bruschetta because they were soft and crunchy in all the right places. Those garlic knots on the other hand are trouble ...the dough was so fresh and had so much flavor, I ate 2 of them and couldn't really eat my entree, but they were incredibly worth every bite! For our entrees I ordered penne alla vodka (I wish the made it with rigatoni. I thought it was ok. It seems too thick and not as good as I've had elsewhere, but maybe I was too full already because my husband thought it was very good. My husband had eggplant Parmesan which was a very nice portion and cooked perfectly. My mother had a cheese calzone which was probably the biggest and nicest cook on one I've ever seen and she really enjoyed it. My son had sausage and peppers and he really like it even though he doesn't generally like red sauce, but the sauce that came with garlic knots and calamari was all the same, and he loved it. The only thing he wasn't thrilled with was the sausage were all sliced. We all expected to have whole links, but they were thinly sliced longways. I wouldn't say I'm in a hurry to go back, but I would again and maybe get one of those calzones for myself or try pizza .
