We live in the country near Sprague so Cheney is not too far for us so we often stop in here on our way home from Spokane because we know they always have the best food and a good selection of our favorite draft beer. My husband's favorites are pizza and beer and he knows how I love their sandwiches so we headed to the Barrelhouse. They have a nice outdoor area which we love in the warm months and with a 6 and 4 year old it's the best spot for us although their indoor seating is also great when it's cold outside. My daughter and I ordered house salads to start and as she said there is something delicious about their salads. For one they are big! They have fresh ingredients; lettuce, mushrooms, red onion and croutons etc. The only thing I can fault them for is they don't have my favorite dressing (honey mustard) but the red wine vinaigrette suits me as well. We also ordered the pizza bites which are covered in Parmesan and come with marinara and creamy garlic dips. I can't say enough about these bites and dips. I should have stopped there but I ordered my favorite sandwich which is the Hawaiian and my daughter had the pesto chicken sandwich. Both of these sandwiches are delicious. Seriously delicious. Husband ordered a pizza for himself and the kids (half cheese for them and half meat and veggies for him). He loves their pizza and he was smart enough not to indulge in the pizza bites so he had room. Service is always friendly. We love this place!

Ciccarelli's -- Coeur d'Alene…read more As someone who has traveled extensively -- including throughout Italy, one of my favorite places on earth -- I do not say this lightly: Ciccarelli's serves some of the finest pizza I have ever eaten. And I mean anywhere. Italy included. There is something almost impossible to describe about truly exceptional pizza. At a certain level, words begin to fail because great pizza is not analyzed... it's experienced. It's the kind of food that causes conversations to stop mid-sentence because everyone at the table suddenly realizes something special is happening. That's Ciccarelli's. I've lived in Coeur d'Alene barely three weeks and my wife and I have already been there three times. At this point, resistance appears futile. Every pizza we've tried has been a masterpiece. Not "really good." Not "our favorite in town." Masterpiece. The crust alone deserves poetry -- blistered, wood-fired perfection with that delicate balance of crispness, chew, char, and tenderness that only happens when people truly understand dough. Every ingredient tastes intentional. Nothing feels thrown together. Every bite -- from the tip of the slice to the outer crust -- is a full gastronomic experience. Favorites so far: THAT'S AMORE -- red sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, red onion, black olives & mozzarella. THE SPICY ITALIAN -- spicy red sauce, pesto, Italian sausage, red onions, fresh mozzarella, parmesan & basil. Ridiculously good. THE STELLA -- olive oil base, goat cheese, prosciutto, apricot preserves & honey drizzle. Sweet, savory, luxurious, and somehow perfectly balanced. And the Pizza Margherita... Listen carefully: A Margherita pizza is the ultimate truth serum for a pizza restaurant. You cannot hide behind toppings. It exposes everything -- crust, sauce, cheese, balance, restraint, technique. Ciccarelli's passes that test with flying colors. Their Margherita has become my weekly sustenance pizza. And then... The desserts. Good grief. Most restaurants treat dessert like an afterthought. Ciccarelli's treats it like a sacred continuation of the meal. I am slowly working my way through their dessert offerings, but I keep getting derailed by the BLACK BOTTOM COCONUT CREAM PIE. I have been eating coconut cream pie for over seventy years. Seventy. I have NEVER had anything like this pie. The rich saturation of flavor... the generous texture of real coconut... the black bottom... whatever culinary sorcery is occurring back there needs to be protected by national treaty. It is so good that you could honestly justify visiting Ciccarelli's solely for dessert. Also outstanding: * Piña Colada Cream Pie * Strawberry Shortcake Torte * Napoleon * Cannoli The restaurant itself is immaculate, intimate, warm, and beautifully designed. Seating is limited, however, and deservedly so. My advice? Get there early or go on a weekday if possible. They also offer lovely outdoor seating. And finally, the family behind it all. There is something unmistakable about a place built by people who genuinely love what they do, love each other, and love the experience they are creating for others. You can feel it the moment you walk in. That kind of thing cannot be faked. Ciccarelli's is not merely a restaurant. It's one of those rare places people discover and then quietly hope doesn't become too famous because they still want to get a table. An absolute gem in Coeur d'Alene.

I don't think we have a Papa Murphy's in Hawaii and aside from Costco, I've never heard of a restaurant that offered that? Anyway, the pizza was AMAZING! The crust is really good. :) I don't know, I think I can say this pizza is perfect. I think what I love most about the pizza was that it was so big and that it only took 20 minutes to bake in a regular oven! The service was . . . Alright. The lady working there was a shift leader and although she smiled and was helpful, she wasn't very nice. =/ That's the reason for this four-star rating. Other than the service, I DEFINITELY recommend it and think that everyone should try this place!

I'm not sure why this is a thing, but our server cut him off super quick with, "we don't take vertical ID's." A bug flew into my wine halfway through the meal and I asked if I could have a new pour of wine of what I had left, not a full glass, just the rest of mine with no bug. Our server seemed annoyed at this request but still did it anyway. Not sure if I'm wrong here but I was my moneys worth for my drink. Lastly, our pizza had a lot of crust on it. The cheese and toppings didn't go far back on the pizza at all and most pieces had about 2 inches of crust. The food here is delicious and it has a great vibe, but the bad service makes the place not worth attending.

So from other reviews I've read about the service here, what I will say is yes, the son has a quirky demeanor and service. However, his intention is good and does not mean to come off as short or inattentive...it just adds to his mysterious character. Anyways, he seems like a good kid (young adult) and is part of just the family business. Okay, on to the pizza for reals. The wixy nugs sounded very interesting and we tried the jalapeno cinna-sweet flavor. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect but had to order it out of curiosity. I'm glad I did! Some way, some how, the mix of spicy jalapeno coupled with cinnamon definitely works. Hard to describe, yet tasty. For my pizza, I ordered the Flying Hawaiian. But instead of ham or chicken, I went with pepperoni. I really enjoyed this pizza and all the combo flavors that melded together. My friend ordered the BBQ smoked pulled pork pizza and said it was great. Visually there was lots of fresh cilantro but it did not over power the pizza in general. They give you bottled water and they have canned soda for beverages. They do not sell alcohol. One thing to take note of is they stay open late. They close at 2am! Late night munchies? This is the spot. Oh did I mention, this pizza shop has a skateboard shop in it with awesome artwork!? Definitely a unique place to check out and eat some good pizza!
