Tried Rosa Cafe for the 1st time over the weekend. The staff is very friendly and the prices are affordable. The menu is pretty basic they don't offer your typical nacho, tacos or enchiladas and don't expect complimentary chips and salsa as you wait for your food to be prepared. They offer a special for the day which was Posole during our visit. We order the special of the day, breakfast burrito with eggs and bacon (with a side of chili verde) and a huevos rancheros plate with the sauce on the side. The food was good but the green and red sauces were too hot for our palate. Glad we ordered them on the side during our 1st visit otherwise the food experience would have been ruined. We returned for a second visit for a late lunch during the week. We ordered the huevos rancheros and the special of the day which was ribs in red sauce. This time we forgot to ask for the sauce on the side on the huevos rancheros, BIG MISTAKE!! The sauce was unbearably hot for our palates you could see the jalapenos floating in the sauce. The ribs were smothered in a red sauce which didn't seem to spicy when I took the 1st bite. The 2nd bite was unbearably hot. I had to literally take each piece of meat and wipe the sauce off on a napkins to make it edible. I grew up in Texas eating spicy Mexican food but this food heat was "oh my gosh, I'm going to catch on fire scorching " I would have given Rosa's Cafe a 5 star if they would offer a milder sauce for their dishes not everyone can tolerate that much heat. read more

Excellent experience. The staff was friendly and gave great menu recommendations. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito and was pleasantly surprised. I took my burrito to go and therefore didn't use any salsa, which I feel would have only improved the taste. For the price you can't beat his place. read more

I love Rosa's! It's like having your favorite food at grandma's house. When you get your plate, you won't regret what you get cuz it's so good! I traveled to Ogden from LA for more than 6 months and I went to Rosa's almost every week. It ranks up there with the best Mexican restaurants I know in SoCal for the flavors, spice and value. You also get treated like family since the place is truly a mom and pop restaurant, but in a clean, cute and cozy space. I recommend the Chile Verde burrito for those who like spicy food and the Chile Colorado if you can't handle the heat. But, do ask for the various home-made salsa bottles. Lastly, there are specials of the day and one of my favorites is the Chile Rellenos - ask for it in a burrito! read more

Now I've had Mexican food in the old part of Mexico City, in the beach resorts of Mexico, in Texas, California, and Arizona but i have never experienced better Chilli Verde anywhere, anytime, anyplace, and the atmosphere and cleanliness was just as good as the food was. Yum, yum, yum. read more

We are in ogden utah for business and we where looking for some mexican food we ran across this little hole in the wall mexican restaurant we ordered menudo and it was good i had mine served with a side of bolillo (roll) and it was toasted to perfection the menudo was cooked just right. My brother ordered the same thing but his with pata. Nice home feel to this place and the service was great!!! read more

Really as good as it gets. Tip: only open 8pm on the Friday and Saturday and 6pm every other day. My wife and I tried the Chile Verde and Chile Colorado dinners. both were unique and delicious. Taste was amazing. What struck me the most was neither entree was greasy like I've experienced before (but really didn't mind). Both dishes with rice and beans tasted fresh and home cooked without added fat and butter to fluff it up. topped off with bread pudding which is one of my classic favorites I've had at different places. This was near if not the top of the bread pudding pyramid of delicious. Oh and the young lady taking orders was on top of her customer service game....great job! read more

I got a smothered Chile Verde burrito, my husband a Picadillo with beans and rice. I will say this: the food tasted really good, and hit the spot when I was craving good Mexican food. The Chile Verde was quite spicy, which was fantastic. My plate came out and had likely just been in the Salamander to melt the smothering cheese, but I wasn't warned, so when the plate was set in front of me I adjusted it and burned myself. The burritos are huge - I could barely finish half of mine - so the $7 each price point isn't too bad. But smothering is another $2, adding beans and rice was $5(!!) (and the portions of that were comparatively tiny) and two small (refillable) sodas were $2.50 each. After tax and tip our lunch for two came out to $32 - a fairly steep price for a hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint with no frills, flaking paint, and some guy walking in off the street and hogging the only bathroom for 20 minutes. I'm also glad it was apparently a slow day (1pm on a Saturday?) because I imagine the 4 tables and bar seating fill up fast. read more

Wow, what a great little place! Had both the Colorado and the Verde burritos, were both excellent with flavorful heat, superb beans and rice, but the Huevos Rancheros! Perfect over medium well eggs on tostadas with a NICE red sauce, completely different from the Colorado. Would love a beer with their stuff, hope they get a license eventually. The tortillas here are made fresh daily and melt in your mouth. The recipes are authentic, the staff is all family and run the restaurant with love and enthusiasm. Building is small and simple, but the food is delicious and as a bonus - inexpensive. Highly recommend. read more

This place is legit - and pretty much the only place in Ogden where you can enjoy delicious and authentic Mexican food. The staff is friendly and the cafe is clean. I have not had one bad meal at Rosa's. The restaurant is small and intimate, and cannot really accommodate large groups - this is the only downside. My son chose to have his birthday dinner at Rosa's, and we called ahead to make sure they could fit us all in. They were fantastic! read more

I lived in New Mexico, the green chili capital of the world (IMHO), for 15 years. Everywhere I have lived since I search for similar Mexican food, and most of the time the search is in vain. After the first bites of Chili Verde and Chili Colorado in Rosa's I was transported back to New Mexico...chili paradise found in Ogden! Not only are the chili dishes superior, but the tortillas were fresh and delicious. I don't usually eat the rice that comes as a side, but theirs was so good I ate all of it. Went on a Friday night and they had a special chili relleno plate that was sooooo good! Best rice I've had in a long time! Their menu is mainly pork and I'm not usually a big fan. This place is easy to miss. It looks kind of divey on the outside, but the inside is actually pretty cute. There's a tiny parking lot in the alley, it probably fits 4 cars. The menu is brief, and there was one sad moment when the girl helping us had to check if they still had chile rellenos (which I'd requested). It was kind of late for lunch, though, and they were only an hour to close... so I suppose it would have been reasonable to be running low on things. Moot anyway, because they did end up having some. My boyfriend got a chile colorado burrito. Both of us were very pleased with our meals. Large servings, hot and just-made, and delicious. Icing on the cake: the fresh, hot tortilla that came with my meal. So good. The only thing I wouldn't bother getting again was the horchata. It was ok, but the food is the gem here. read more

We love the burritos here, but the service sucks. If you are planning on coming to this restaurant, just know that they have traditional Mexican food, which is amazing. But they either know their food is good and people will still come or don't care, because every member of the staff is super rude. We have come here probably 5 times and each time we are amazing at how little they care about getting the orders right and they really don't care about the overall experience.
