Sidecar Speakeasy was the play... The speakeasy entrance was hidden in a hallway you can walk right by without even noticing. I dig it. Once inside, it's dark. Most of the light is coming from the light showcasing the bottles in the bar. The seating is a little tight as they're trying to maximize space for such a small area. We visited here twice during my visit: We sat at a table and a bar. You have the perfect amount of space for your party, but you're pretty close to the next table or bar seat. No claustrophobic vibes though. All the mixologists were great during both visits. One visit, we ordered their signature cocktails from the menu. When we sat at the bar, we had the mixologist surprise with a cocktail off the menu. He just asked what kind of liquor vibe we wanted, and he took it from there. He was super creative with every cocktail which made for a great time. They stayed upon until midnight one one visit and until 1 am on the other one. Both my visits were on a weekday. The sidecar speakeasy is easily my favorite bar in Fort Lauderdale and I have a feeling I'll be back. Enjoy!

I proceeded to walk inside and I found a seat at the bar and I sat there. There were some people in there and I definitely wouldn't say it was dead, but it also wasn't crazy busy. There was three people working one lady with red shorts and curly hair another lady with blue pants and straight hair and then a short guy. I later seen a taller guy as I was leaving, he was not involved in my experience. The lady with the straight hair and the guy were on the side I was on they kept walking past and at no point seeing if I wanted anything, I know some bars you have to get the bartenders attention instead of them checking what you want so after 8minutes, I attempted to get the female's attention a few times for a few minutes and it did not work (she did serve other people during that time and was having conversation with ppl). Eventually, the lady with curly hair came to my side to make someone on her side's drink. I asked if I could order a drink and she motioned to give her a minute. She went back to her side, made the person's drink, then took some new orders from people and made their drinks and served beers.I waited over 6 minutes. Eventually she came to the side I was on and took the order of the person sitting directly to my right, completely ignoring me. At which point I concluded I was not going to get any service in this establishment and decided to leave after a total of 17 minutes of sitting at the bar and being completely ignored. I try to self reflect and think if I did something to warrant this treatment but I couldn't think of anything. The only thing that makes me feel slightly better is there was a guy sitting to my left that had a cup already and he kept trying to get her attention and she seemed to be avoiding him. I'm not sure if everyone was avoiding him for some reason and I was just unlucky for sitting next to him. I hated the feeling that this experience left me with and I hope no one else has this experience. The DJ was pretty good, even playing a few minutes of Reggae which surprised me. I ended up going to the Seminole Classic Casino and got service as soon as I sat down. The DJ was playing R&B and I ended up tipping him he was so good.

At first, I wasn't too happy -- there were no outdoor seats available and the music at the bar was super loud. We ended up sitting all the way in the back next to a wall by the bathrooms, and the vibe there was just okay. Later, we moved closer to the outside and it completely changed the experience -- I enjoyed it so much more! The drinks are a little pricey but absolutely worth it -- we had the Tikki Kill and it was delicious. The music was amazing and kept the energy up all night. The couches are super comfy, the hookah service is great (they change the charcoal without you even asking), and free parking is a huge plus. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the night even better. The only downsides are that you really need to make a reservation ahead of time for weekends, otherwise you might end up stuck at the bar or in a less atmospheric spot. Also, there are only two gender-neutral restrooms, so there can be a bit of a wait.

We got the hukkah service and it was often monitored for the coals. They recommended "berries and watermelon" and it was smooth. Our server came just often enough to make sure we had what we needed. Great music played throughout. While we were there it was club music. Just loud enough to enjoy but still able to talk. We ordered a fruit platter and it was large and all of the fruit was deliciously fresh. The only tricky part was the parking. An attendant on the street is shuffling people on the street and at least three different lots. The entrance is around back opposite of Dixie Hwy so save yourself a walk. Not sure what can be done about the restroom situation, but there are very few for the number of people that can be inside. All in all, I would definitely come back for another night of enjoyment.

We were looking forward to a great evening. We were sitting there having drinks, appetizers, and enjoying ourselves when, without any advance notice, the restaurant suddenly began transitioning into what we were told was a "semi-private event." It soon became apparent that it was a swingers event. To be clear, I have absolutely no issue with consenting adults making their own choices. That is not what this review is about. The problem is that we were never informed when the reservation was made. We were already seated, eating, and enjoying our evening when this started happening around us. Had we been told in advance what type of event was taking place, we would have simply chosen another night. Guests deserve the opportunity to make that choice for themselves. This should have been disclosed at the time of reservation, not after customers were already sitting at their table. We should never have been unexpectedly put into a situation that made us this uncomfortable. We genuinely like Unit B, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Great food and drinks don't make up for a serious lack of communication with your customers. A simple heads-up at the time of booking would have made all the difference.
