It's extremely disheartening to write this review but after a week of no response I'm extremely disappointed. We hired Matt to wire our entire house, new construction, after it was wired we did not hire him to do the finishing work because my husband knows how to hook up everything. We had a question on wiring for 2 GFCI's in the kitchen and after 3 calls, 3 texts, and 2 emails, I've still heard nothing from Matt. His wife emailed me and apologized and said he's busy. Being ignored for a week after we paid an arm and a leg for wiring is just unprofessional and completely unacceptable in my opinion. Matt, As your reviews note, you are not responsive. Had you called or texted or emailed to say how you'd like to handle things I'm sure this could have been addressed in a way that would make you comfortable. As for not paying for so called "add ons" what was the bill for $276 for wiring a fire bell that was done incorrectly? I'd say that's an add on we paid for. Yes you came on short notice, but if you didn't have time for the job that took you a week and we paid $13000 for, then you shouldn't have taken the job. Referring to one of your clients as someone who steals food from the grocery store is pathetic and again shows your professionalism. read more

I contacted Roper Electric to get a quote to install a ceiling fan and get an outlet in the garage installed in order to get a new garage door opener installed. Matt contacted us within 24 hours and came over to give us a quote. The day we scheduled the work to be done was in the middle of our heat wave. Since he would be doing work in the attic area, I thought we may need to reschedule. But Matt, unaffected by the weather report, came over as scheduled and did a wonderful job PLUS fixed a last minute item we needed checked - a hot tub switch that was shorting out!! Mat is great. My oven wasn't working. He found wiring was labeled incorrectly by the original home builder and the City Inspector did not catch it. I've used Roper Electric twice now and I highly recommend them. Matt came out when we moved into our new home and helped us fix a few electrical issues that were identified during our home inspection. He responded to my call quickly and arrived on time. He fixed all of the issues identified properly and correctly fixed some questionable repair work that had been done by a handyman. His prices were very reasonable and he charged us exactly as originally quoted. We called Roper Electric again a few weeks ago to hang a few new lamps and chandeliers. Once again Matt responded quickly and his quotes were reasonable. He brought his assistant Dominic with him and the two of them were wonderful. They made sure we liked the hanging height of each chandelier before they finalized installation. When I noticed that there was a sticker on one of the lamps once it was hung from a very high ceiling they did not even hesitate to go back to the truck and get a ladder to remove the sticker. I had Matt out to inspect electrical on a house I was buying. For the inspection I would give him 5 stars because he did show up for the inspection and there was no charge for the inspection. He was polite and helpful. He identified some short comings and answered questions. I explained that I had rewired two houses myself but I do not want to work off of a main panel. The main panel in this house also was the panel for most of the house circuits so the panel always has power to it. So I wanted a quote for pulling power off of the 150A breaker to a new sub-panel. I could pull a permit and take it from there. I was told I would get a quote shortly via email. Nothing came, we went to closing anyhow, After closing I called and left a message to please provide the quote....Nothing. I left a third message....still nothing. So if you dont want to do business with someone for what ever reason, say so. Don't just walk away. That was unprofessional. read more

We initially contacted Roper Electric on Nov 12, 2020. We waited until Nov 17 to get an "estimate appointment." We were told they would send us an email estimate, and that they were scheduling work about a week out. They never sent the estimate or contacted us again. On Nov 20, I contacted them because they never sent the estimate. At that time they did reply to my email, saying they were scheduling in December. They never sent an estimate. They wasted a lot of our time. Had they been upfront from the start, I would have understood. But, they were dishonest and left us with the problem. read more

I asked him to replace the ground fault circuit interrupter but he said it wasn't necessary. I needed an electrician to troubleshoot outlets that were not working in a home we recently bought in Vista. Not knowing anyone up here, I turned to Yelp to help me find an electrician with a good reputation. I chose Roper based on the reviews here and I feel very fortunate to have done so. I called on a Sunday and even so, Matt (the owner) returned my call within 2 hours to set up an appointment for later in the week. He arrived on time, looked professional and took the time to listen to the list of problems we were having. He got to work sourcing the problem and found it within 10 minutes! This was amazing to me since it was in issue we had been living with for over 6 months and couldn't figure out. Matt showed me the problem and fixed it right away. He was also able to show me several other items that were either not done to code (by the previous owner) or could be a safety issue. There was never any scare tactics or pressure to do extra work, he just explained what he was showing me in everyday language which I definitely appreciate. We will be upgrading to a 200 amp panel soon and Matt was able to give me a quote and walk me through the process that day as well.
