I usually don't eat at airports mostly because they are expensive and the food is usually terrible but Root Down restaurant in Denver is an exception. Loved the atmosphere of the place, the staff was really nice and even though it was a little pricey the food was delicious. My husband ordered the smoked turkey club, he loved it. He's not a big fan of sweet potato fries but from what we found out afterwards looks like they also have regular fries. I ordered the crispy chicken tacos, super good! They added cheese and avocado for $3 to my tacos, could have gone without it but whatever I was on vacation. Highly recommend!! read more

Just like all 1,215 reviewers wrote, this is an exceptional airport eatery. I stopped in for lunch today and ordered Thai curry carrot soup (GF) and the house salad (GF) for 12USD. The soup wasn't as spicy as I would have liked but it had a spoonful of apple pear chutney in the center that was very tasty. The salad would have been pedestrian had it not had pickled red onions, sunflower seeds and a to-die-for house dill ranch dressing. I paired my meal with an ice cold Odell Myrcenary Double IPA 9.3% ABV (Fort Collins, CO) that was fabulous! The decor is so cool especially if your an airport geek like me. The bar features packed suitcases underneath the glass, highlighting different cities and suitcase "shelves" that the alcohol is perched on. I liked the easy going bartenders and the laid back vibe! I ordered the house salads with grilled chicken at the takeout counter and was told it would be about 15 minutes. It was cutting it close, but I decided to chance it. Absolutely my favorite place to eat at Denver Airport! The service is always great, and the ask when you're seated what time your flight is, so that your server knows how quickly to get you in/out. This is a smaller version of one of Denver's favorite restaurants, with many of the top choices from their flagship restaurant. Nothing on the menu is too "heavy" per se, as Root Down prides itself on local, sustainable, fresh ingredients, but I typically order a salad anyways. The Cobb salad is insane, a 10x better version than a typical Cobb, complete with chopped dates, tender belly bacon, blue cheese, avo, etc. For their tahini dressing, it's the perfect complement to an already complete meal. One of their most popular dishes is the sweet potato fries, which I also order every time. Waffle-cut and served with homemade ketchup and curry sauce. So good! I had never been to Denver International before, but all of a sudden I was stuck here for 3 hours on a layover. I was rather hungry and, to be honest a tad hungover, so finding a place where I could eat and sit for a while was the first thing on my to-do list when I landed. I was somewhat shocked to find a place with 4.5 stars and 1.2k reviews in an airport, so naturally I had to make the trip from Concourse B to Concourse C to find out what this hype was about. Upon being seated I was asked if I wanted a mimosa, to which I for some reason said yes, and was given some time to browse the menu. I ordered the waffle benedict. My food was good, although it seemed a bit bland. The texture of the soft egg with the very fluffy waffle and the light hollandaise melded into a similar mush, and I kind of wish there was more texture and flavor. It was very light though, so my stomach wasn't heavy after finishing both benedicts. The arugula salad was nice though, but my favorite part was the home fries and dipping sauce, it didn't seem like regular ketchup. Seeing as I was going to be there for a while, I then ordered the sweet potato waffle fries because they were a highlight item on yelp and a drink, The Don Draper. The fries themselves were all right, but the sauces were very good. The drink was another one of my favorites, as someone that's a fan of bourbon and not too keen on sweet drinks. Overall, a place I would consider going to again if I was passing through DIA with time and cash to spend, and definitely a good place in terms of airport food. Was very skeptical that a restaurant in the airport would have 4.5 stars. It definitely lived up to its rating. I was able to be in and out within an hour just eating by myself. I had 3 hours to kill so I figured I might as well try out this place. I ordered the beet down drink and the Colombian griddles cheese. I love corn cakes and I wasn't sure about the extra ingredients it had, but it was super delicious. The drink was light and refreshing, pretty sweet, but that's what i was looking for anyways. All in all, it was a satisfying meal and I would definitely come back again to try something new! read more

Root Down was surprisingly delicious! I've come to expect mediocrity at airports, so I am always pleasantly surprised to find a place I'd really like to return to! I try to find at least one good restaurant/wine bar in every airport/terminal I frequent, and his might be it for Denver! I ate here with my husband and his parents and we had about an hour and a half before boarding. I thought for sure we would be pushing the limits by having drinks and a sit down meal, but was happy to find this wasn't the case! I enjoyed a white wine and the Banh Mi burger. I'd never had Banh Mi anything so I was excited to try it. The Vietnamese creamy cheese that was spread on the burger made me nervous, but it was quite tasty and definitely paired well with the dish! It was crunchy and spicy. The burger didn't completely fall apart which is a huge plus!! I had the sweet potato fries and they were deliciously crispy. Vegan order - I got the veggie burger bc I thought the pretzel bun would be soft and fluffy (like most vegan and non vegan pretzel buns are). The entire burger (bum & patty) turned out being dry. Dang - this place is good. I'm usually leery of airport restaurants, but this one is something special. There's a reason it has so many reviews. It's a great place to grab a quick bite and beer. I got the lamb sliders, which genuinely were shocking. The lamb was tender, flavorful, and left me craving for more. They have a lot of local beers on tap as well, which is perfect for seeing what the locale has to offer. It does get busy though, so don't necessarily expect to find a seat immediately. Being a vegan I took my chances of finding a vegan food in Denver surprise and was so surprised to find this place with vegan options. Was a 5-10 minute wait at around 730pm on a Thursday night. We ordered sweet potato fries, hummus and veggies. The sides with sweet fries are not vegan and the pita also isn't vegan. But I was happy with the veggies. All root veggies. Lastly wet ordered the vegan tiramusu and it was out of the world delicious. Never had this kind of tiramusu ever. To top this all the customer service was really good. It was easy and fast journey. Restaurant set up is a bit weird with giant poles in the middle of walkways. Staffs are quick to get me a table for one and take my order. My waitress was attentive and kept checking on me. Sweet potato/yam waffle fries are good. Lamb sliders are flavorful and a bit spicy. Just how I like it. The garlic lime to yogurt sauce and honey mustard are amazing. You can definitely taste the honey in the mustard. This food helped my long layover a bit more bearable. read more

I stopped in before a flight as I do 2-4 times a month and after 35 minutes and no food and no server I literally had to get up with my luggage and go talk to the staff that seats people. Really enjoyed the food and beer while waiting for our flight. Super happy to be able to select a Yeti stout...enjoyable beginning to the meal. I ordered the Cobb with no bacon and the addition of Skuna Bay salmon. When the Cobb arrived, they delivered it and immediately left. I noticed there was bacon, so I began to fork through it to see how much. As I did so, the waiter arrived to check that we'd received our food properly, and I let him know. He immediately offered to take it back, but at that point I had determined that there were literally only 4 small pieces right on top - easily removable. I let him know it was fine. (Of course, were I a bacon eater, I'd have been kind of perturbed I suppose at the small amount of bacon LOL). So I began eating and within a few minutes the manager came over to check on the situation and be sure that I didn't want to send back the salad. So, yeah - they have the service thing down! Anyway, the salad was delicious. The teen boy had a regular burger that he wolfed down, which I believe means it was good. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of were the waffle sweet potato fries. This place seems really nice from all the comments posted. Came here cause of that. Me and the wife gave it a try. We wanted a bar set to stay away from the small kids. They sat us on a two seat table at the entrance. Then was given water after I said no water. Food came. The Tacos are some type of spin of tacos. One of the three tacos was cooked as it should be. The other two were crispy as heck and dry as a bone. I really don't believe they even cooked the corn tortillas. We're probably just put in the microwave. They broke into pieces as I tried to eat the tacos. I just used a fork to eat them.as for the workers. Well they just seem like they want to be elsewhere. I've only been twice, and it was a hit the first time, but a complete miss the second. Food both times was great, but service is what keeps this place from receiving its full share of stars. Food-wise, this is pretty healthy eats. Everything seems very fresh, and I think it's locally sourced stuff too. Things that were supposed to be hot came out hot, and things that were cold came out warm... The first time I came here, the hostess asked us what time our flight was, made sure we got a table to accommodate both our bags, and the waitress took real good care of us. It was a first-class experience to dine here. Plenty of refills on drinks, kept checking on us to make sure we were doing okay, and let us sit around for a little bit since service was so fast. The second time though, we got stuck in a booth with 2 big bags, which I guess was okay. But, our waitress took forever to take our orders, and once the drinks were down, it took 45 minutes to get our meals. It was just tacos and lamb sliders.... We were too worried about missing our flight so we just stuffed down the food as quickly as possible. I remember it tasting decent, but it wasn't a pleasant dining experience at all. Then it took another 10 minutes for our waitress to bring back our credit card. I think it was the only time when I ever gave a bad tip - even though she probably deserved no tip. Will I come back? They only have homemade sodas it appears but the ginger ale was pretty good. I was wanting a Diet Coke, though. I wasn't wanting something TOO greasy, but at a place like this they don't have very many healthier options. So I got the veggie burger and I asked for regular fries. The fries were good at first but got cold and stale quickly. The pretzel bun on the veggie burger was delicious, but the slaw on it was funky and made it soggy. We had some me time between flights and stopped at Root Down in the Denver Airport. The most exceptional service from Rachel made our visit exceptional! The beer and mixed drinks were great, and we chose to follow her recommendations. The Pepper Blossom drink is dynamite and the Epic Brainless Belgian Golden Ale is super.
