It's not an exaggeration that I calculated my arrival/transit time in Denver, in order to dine at Root Down. Also as I almost exclusively take United Airlines which stops at Terminal B, each time I had to leave out around an hour for dining and terminal transfers to C and back. ;) This is a proof of my loyalty and determination! It's not that the restaurant produces fancy and innovative dishes. I think Root Down provides a lot of healthy and delish choices, but most importantly a home coming feeling. It feels down to earth... I like all the salads ( you can order them in half too). The added grilled salmon is cooked to the perfection. The shareables (can be ordered half size too) - I like the hummus the most. The current version is not my favorite, so I will wait for my red beet hummus to return. Coffee is great! read more

Every time I'm at the Denver airport and have time to have a real meal, I try to stop here! What's better than a farm to table meal? What a refreshing surprise that isn't the usual bar burger or corporate fast food restaurant. Root Down is a fresh, healthy and creative food option and the wait staff was friendly and quick,m. Both are great when your time is limited during a layover! On my most recent trip, I got the beet salad and goat cheese with salmon and the pozole and bean soup. Aside from the soup being slightly under salted (which is definitely better then being over salted) it was a meal that satisfied my need for something that not only tasted delicious, but was also healthy as well. The duck wings with blackberry chili sauce were out of this galaxy! As far as airports go, I would say this is my #2 bd favorite restaurant in ANY airport I've been to in the US. Definitely my #1 for DIA. It's in concourse C, and I always fly out of B or A but I make the excuse to hop the tram for this place. Cheesesteak sando is delish. Shaved thin steak, gooey cheese, soft toasted bun, and optional fried egg and jalepeños?! Yes, please! My lunch staple. Fried egg sando? Yep!! Romesco sauce is good, eggs are fresh and perfectly and it's on a croissant. Fatty breakfast goodness. Way better than elways. Blech. That place sux. Plus they serve arugula salad and purple, red and white potatoes with everything. Who could disagree with that? I even like their coffee mug shapes. I was stuck in DIA after a flight delay, so I queried the hive mind on FB about the best places to eat. Root Down was instantly and vigorously nominated. I was instructed to have a Beet Down and Pepper Blossom. So I did just that. I started with the Beet Down as an aperitif. The sweetness of the beets paired well with the gin. I chose the Lamb Sliders based on other reviews, and I was not disappointed! The curry source was especially well flavored. The sweet potato waffle fries were perfectly cooked - not too crisp but definitely not too soggy. The Pepper Blossom paired perfectly with the lamb sliders. The spice of the drink worked very well with the spice palette of the dish. For dessert I had the tiramisu. Amazing! If you are in concourse C and have time to sit down for a meal, Root Down is the way to go! read more

Best airport food ever. I was super dehydrated from the elevation in Denver and needed something soupy so I ordered the shoyu ramen. I was super skeptical of ramen in an airport, especially one that had radishes and bacon but it was really good. It isn't the traditional style of Japanese ramen but I loved it anyways. A delicious restaurant with a diverse menu that is in an airport, but isn't standard airport food. At the hostess stand we were greeted promptly. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She had a sense of humor as well. To start the meal I ordered a glass of Riesling. It was effervescent which was odd for a Riesling, but the taste was fine. The Banh Mi was really good. I don't think it was traditional, but that's what I liked about it. It had all of the usual flavors of a banh mi (mint, carrots, cilantro, delicious dressing), but the meat was chicken meatballs. This spot was perfectly fine by airport standards, but the reviews I saw before dining here definitely gave me the impression I'd be impressed here. I had the beef burger and regular fries, as sweet potato fries don't do it for me. My wife had the house salad with honey salmon. The burger was thoroughly unremarkable. The bacon was great, but it ended up doing most of the heavy lifting on the plate. The salad was better, but the salmon tasted as though it was pre-packaged. That didn't keep me from picking at it after my wife was done, though. I ended up eating most of it, but the saltiness wasn't a great match for the salad. Maybe a sweeter dressing would be a better choice here. My wife had ranch, which didn't match as well The bigger letdown was the service. The tiny restaurant should've lent itself to speedier service. Our server seemed to disappear for several minutes at a time. Had an excellent lunch here during my layover! This is hands down the best airport restaurant I've ever eaten at. I'm so glad we stopped here! The lamb sliders were delicious, and the Pepper Blossom cocktail was probably one of the best drinks I've ever had. I want to make it at home! The sliders were a bit dry that even the aioli and min-garlic yogurt couldn't save. Duck wings: This is where it's at! Root Down has some stellar Yelp reviews- perhaps the most impressive of any airport restaurant in the country. When we visited, pre-COVID era, there was a substantial wait - around 20 minutes. Usually, that's a deal-breaker at an airport but we had a long layover. After being seated, it took our server forever to take our order, probably an additional 20 minutes. Once we ordered, the food didn't come out for another 25 minutes and we just got burgers and sweet potato fries. Meanwhile, other four-top tables had been seated after us and were paying their bills and walking out of the restaurant as we were receiving our food. Our food was in the 3-star range. It was solid, but not spectacular. The sweet potato fries came out cold. The curry aioli was probably the highlight of the whole meal. The lamb sliders were dry and mostly tasteless as was their signature Root Down Burger. Take a look at the photos for this review. $18.50 for two measly lamb sliders! And $16 for a hamburger. We were seated quickly and they were surprised when we told them we had almost two hours, but we were seated comfortably, even with room for our carry-on luggage. We had early morning flights and wanted to eat something for breakfast at the airport. They are very knowledgeable of gluten free and had it marked clearly on the menu. What a discovery. At the airport, no less! I had some time (important, because I suspect they're almost always busy), so I decided to get a seat (there's less of a wait to sit at the bar). They also offer several of their items to-go, but that's a separate line. If you want a seat, go to the host and give them your name. There was a mistake, so I waited closer to 30 minutes, but most waited 10-15, depending on the size of their party. I was lucky enough to get a window seat, so I got to watch the crews service the planes. I ordered the beef burger which comes with pork belly. They cook their burgers to order! I ordered mine rare, and it was closer to medium, but that's better than overcooked. I asked for greens instead of sweet potato fries and was offered a super greens slaw mix. I got it with ranch dressing which was chock full of tasty herbs. Because it was so busy, the service wasn't stellar, but everyone was friendly, and that makes up for it, in my mind. I highly recommend stopping here if you're hungry and have the time while waiting for your flight. read more

7/5/22 Time on Check 7:02 PM, Table 92/1, Server Evette was extremely unpleasant. In fact it was my worst dining experience I've ever had in my entire life. She placed our drinks on our table and was visibly upset when I asked her for a straw. When she brought us our food she proceeded to tell me out of the blue to use the serving plate the fries and condiments are sitting on (in the photo) as my plate. I'm not sure what kind of barbarians Evette is used to serving (actually after her actions I think I do know), but I don't think it's appropriate for me to use a serving plate to eat my meal on. I proceeded to ask her for a separate plate for my food and again became visibly upset. When she brought the plate she aggressively shoved it into my hands. Her behavior was extremely inappropriate and inexcusable. The fact that she became physically aggressive towards me is disturbing and more disturbing that the "manager" I spoke to did absolutely nothing. It is very apparent Evette is unhappy in her life and her employment and I will be contacting the restaurant directly. read more

The food here just like their other restaurants is amazing, beer selections are great and staff is amazing as well. I don't know why anyone would eat anywhere else in this airport because root down is just above and beyond the rest.
