Drove all the way over there for some crap food/service. They gave me a burger that was dry no type of sauce, with no lettuce just plain dry burger. The zucchini have a weird after taste flavor similar to fish sticks, not to mention the burgers are very small. When I eat at a char-brolier burger spot I expect to be a decent size. The cashier was very rude as well. She looked like she was miserable taking customer orders and kept saying she could not hear me when I was speaking right in front of her. It's hard to hear and can't understand folks but please don't take it out on the customers. This place isn't just about the food, thou it is really good. It's about history, it originally opened in 1950...just down the street from my dad's childroom home. I spend alot of time here in Lamont...hot summer nights, slamming down a 'Double salad cheeseburger' with their french fries! You can eat pretty darn good for $5 bucks!! Love it! read more

This place used to be amazing. My last 2 visits wet awful, but I decided we would try it one last time. Again my avocado burger had way too much seasoning salt to eat it. My onion rings were soggy so the breading just fell off and the 2 that did have breading were very salty. My 8 year old said her corn dog had more salt on it than her French fries. I love this place. It's my number one place to get a delicious burger. I always get #7 on the menu, which is the avocado burger. I love the seasoning that they put on the bun and the fries. This place sells pastrami sandwiches and they sell hamburgers but they can't understand what a pastrami burger is. They finally made one for me but it wasn't easy. Service is poor. Burger was okay but a little over cooked. We also ordered a cheese burger which was so very pathetic looking. We were told we should have ordered the "king burger" since it is bigger but really nothing special about the king burger. Love this place. They are my go to place for cheesy fries. Homemade ranch tastes amazing and their Burgers are always spot on. The staff in super quick and friendly. Only downside being the awkward location, makes it a little hard to get out of and back onto busy streets. However I love the dual drive thru. Comparing to other burger mom and pop spots in Lamont, I have to say, Root Beer King is in the far end of the race. Their famous fries were okay. Not so "bomb" like I was told.
