Parking lot in the back. You walk into a dive-y diner. The walls are littered with Roosters. insert cock joke here. My waiter, who I think might've been the owner, seemed overwhelmed and short-staffed. I felt bad because he was really pushing the fish fry but your boy wanted breakfast. I think this place closes before 2 so it seemed a little strange to have a fish fry special. Nevertheless I ordered the #1. Food came out super quick , piping hot, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. It might've been the best breakfast I ever had. UPDATE - I won't negate my rating for this but I went back a 2nd time around noon and the restaurant was closed. If its not early in the AM I would give them a call to confirm they're still cooking before making a trip. read more

Wanted to try this place for breakfast this morning. I had the cheese omelette with rye toast and home fries. My husband ordered the grits with his eggs, toast and home fries. The home fries were passable, but were lukewarm, with no crisp. The cheese omelette had a minimal amount of cheese but was still ok. The grits were piping hot, though and were good. If you like to eat margerine, you're in luck, because that is what they use. Next time will order dry toast and bring our own butter. read more

I can't believe my first time here was this past Sunday when it has been in my neighborhood for years! Cute and Cozy diner right before the entrance to Route 5, it is a family owned establishment with a Rooster theme, and I'm not kidding..... Roosters are EVERYWHERE! My step grandma loved Roosters, so I got a good vibe about this place immediately! Prices are very reasonable and they have the normal diner selections for breakfast or lunch . My father and I both ordered omelettes. They came with your choice of toast and home fries. Our food was up in less than 10 minutes and it hit the spot. Extra points from my dad for the Buffalo China they use for the plates (he collects it). The staff couldn't be any more friendly , they made you feel like you were a regular or special guest even with it being our first time there. On Weekends they are only open until 6am-12:30pm so I'll have to remember that when I plan to go, because I most definitely want to dine in again. read more

I gave this place two stars because the food was good. This place isn't consistent at all. My best friend loved her experience here so I suggested this place to a few other friends. We came here a few Sundays ago. There is a large parking lot behind the small restaurant and you can also park on the street, to the side of the building. This place isn't consistent at all. A couple left the restaurant because they didn't have masks with them and they decided to go home. On the first (screen) door, it says that masks are required. I grabbed one from my car. I said something to the couple in front of me about the sign on the door. They said, "Oh, it doesn't matter." I was greeted warmly by the hostess and told her I was waiting for two friends. She said that was fine. They showed up within minutes. Our drinks were brought to us and we ordered food. There were two signs on the wall near us stating "In order to better serve my customers, please limit your time to one hour after you receive your meal. Thank you for your continued support! Safety first!" I understand not wanting customers to linger and chat so you can make more money and get more customers in and out of the door. We were asked to wrap up our meal and leave shortly after our food was given to us. It was about half an hour after we were given our food. I said, "That's fine but we weren't even given our checks yet." They were brought to us and we promptly left. We stood outside near our cars talking for another 10/20 minutes and a couple who was seated near us, who had already been there awhile, was finally leaving. I'm sure they weren't asked to leave. The lack of consistency is what gets me. Two stars because the food menu looked good and my biscuits and gravy were good. read more

And a couple hundred or more roosters. Yesterday I went with my son-in-law. I had the best turkey burger ever and great cole slaw. Ron had a fried bologna sandwich and super-looking steak fries. The main reason I went back to Rooster's so soon is the fries: I had to try them. Today I went with my mallwalking cohort, Patty; we worked up a lunchtime appetite. We both had the meatloaf dinner, mine with fries and cole slaw, hers with mashed potatoes and corn. Two generous slices of meatloaf with gravy, delicious and --guess what-- I had the 2nd slice and the rest of the cole slaw for supper tonight. Now here is something important to know about Rooster's Cafe: HOURS. Five days a week John opens at 5 A.M. Sundays at 6 A.M. (Closed Mondays) If you're up with the rooster's, so is John (owner). Rooster's is a breakfast and lunch place only, closing most days at 2:45 P.M. Great breakfast (available until 10:00) menu and the Sunday pancake specials sound deeeelicious. Bless me father for I have sinned...but there is something to Crow About at Rooster's! Today, I had the opportunity to take my niece and nephew to school. Upon taking delivery of them at 7am, we brushed our hair and teeth and headed out the door with plenty of time for a nice breakfast. Today's destination? Rooster's! We walked into the restaurant and I was struck by how bright and clean everything appeared. The owner and his team started to make a fuss over the kids. There weren't many people in the place so we had our pick of tables. Our waitress was very kind, she brought juice and a couple of toys for the children. The owner quickly took our order and prepared the food. He later struck up a conversation with me when he came out to check on us. John is, rightfully, very proud of his restaurant, and he should be. Did I mention that it is clean? This is a point in which John takes such pride that he even brought out a sheaf of NYS Health Inspection forms which attest to his cleanliness. Amazing! Back to the meal: I ordered the bacon, egg, and pancake kids meals for my niece and nephew. For myself, I ordered the pancakes and bacon. Meat on Friday? (I forgot, ugh). For those who wish to be more adventurous in their breakfast selections Rooster's offers daily specials along with quite a few specialty pancakes. The food was served in a very timely manner and really could not have been better. The presentation might not have stood up to Nelson's Ridge or Betty's but who cares? The kids pancakes had "Mickey ears" and the scrambled eggs were done perfectly, no watery mess. The bacon was nice and crisp, just the way it was meant to be served...unless you don't like your bacon crisp, in which case there is either something wrong with you or you are British. The one area that needs improvement from my perspective? They could probably benefit from slightly longer hours, especially on Sunday. What did the children think? Well, here's my nephew's unsolicited review as we left the parking lot: "Uncle, I loved that restaurant, can we come here again?" Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but my daughter and I were practically dying of hunger so we popped in. My first impression was they have a weird obsession with cocks. It was very chilly and we had to wear our jackets the whole time. The cleanliness was a bit concerning, i had to ask for our table to be wiped off before sitting. The food was great, but our waitress went out for a cigarette im assuming cause when she came back in she smelled like an ashtray and didn't even wash her hands. Theres was also an elderly lady that walks around and she made us feel uncomfortable. She repeatedly kept calling my daughter "he" after i corrected her multiple times. I love roosters! Haven't eaten there in a while but went today for breakfast. The decor is fun, there are roosters everywhere! And it is very clean. I got the strawberry pancakes which was a special currently. They were delicious and I couldn't even finish them because I was so full! I didn't even need syrup because they were naturally sweet. What a great experience! The reception from a warm matron set the tone. She complemented my kids and played with the ones at the next table.
