I enjoyed everyone who worked at Roosevelt Vision. The doctor was competent, and the receptionists were lovely. However, my problem was with their price & their billing practices. I'm a student at UW, and when I first called I asked if they had worked with the student insurance before, and if they had a fee for contact lens fitting. They said they had worked with the UW student insurance and that there was a $50 contact lens fitting fee. When I got to my appointment, the billing person had obviously not worked with the student insurance. I had to explain the process to them, and I still got a bill sent to me instead of the student insurance people. (I do have to admit, the student insurance is a tad bit confusing.) After sorting that out, I got hit with a nearly $100 bill after the insurance had paid for part of the service. This is lots of money for someone living on student loans. As for the contact lenses, the FIRST contact lens fitting was $50. The second fitting ranges from (an additional) $95 - $125 dollars. Nobody mentioned this additional payment to me, either on the phone before my appointment, or when I was paying the $50 on the day of. While going through the fitting, the doctor did mention that I had to come back for another fitting. However, I did assume that the $50 bucks I had paid covered this fitting. (Boy was I wrong.) After the fitting, I was told to go and sit with the contact lens specialist. She is the first person who explained the additional cost to me (AFTER I had paid the $50 and had my fitting.) The process made me feel like I was being held hostage for my contact lens prescription. I can't afford to pay fees like this, and purchase contacts. I am still wearing contacts from two or three years ago because they won't release my prescription to me without a followup ($$$) visit. They say that the followup visit is required by law, however no other dr has ever required this of me, and they didn't tell me in advance that it was required, or that there would be an additional payment. Had I been informed ahead of time of the expense of contact lenses (which aren't covered by my student insurance) I would have chosen a cheaper alternative. I'm down $150 bucks out of pocket, I still don't have contacts that have a current prescription. It's unfortunate that the business is operated in such a horrible way by such nice people. read more

This place was really hot inside and their parking lot is ridiculously small, but these are small potatoes. My nine-year-old daughter saw Dr. Williams. She was very nice, explained everything to both of us, thoroughly examined my daughter and helped set up a referral for a vision therapist. My daughter's glasses were all out of whack and Dr. Williams hooked us up with a lovely optician (? on the title) who fixed up the glasses quickly. No one tried to sell us anything and the prescription was handed over by Dr. Williams before I even asked for it. I like this place and would definitely recommend Dr. Williams. read more

Great service. My family and I have been going to Roosevelt Vision for years. This time around I decided to try contacts again after only wearing glasses the last 20 years. Ginny Mercer did a great job fitting me with contacts so I can see long distance and read without reading glasses. It's great using contacts again. We get the best care here! read more

Ok place. Fairly pricey and in my opinion, the frames selection is small and overpriced. I've been seen there by two female optometrist who were both amazing. I did have one interesting encounter with Samek. I went in after needing contacts for the first time in my life. Being a novice, I scratched my corneas pretty badly so I called and ask if I could have someone look at my eye and assure me no infection was on the horizon. They said no charge since it might be a bad contact fit. Well I walk in, the aforementioned optometrist overhears me telling the receptionist my issue and quickly says he would take care of me. I thought, wow! Awesome! We spent about 7 minutes in an office. He put Blink over the counter eye drops in my eye and then sells me two. He tells me to hand my insurance card over to the receptionist to charge the "office visit". When he saw that I was covered by Grouphealth, he stalked off and didn't say goodbye as I said thank you after him. But really? 5-7 mins, over the counter eye drops and you want to charge that!? While he took a quick look at my eye, I also learned about all the homes he owned. Let me just say that one person does not represent an entire office. I've had a fairly normal experience there with the occasional rude receptionist or optician impatiently and impassively stares at you while you pick up glasses and try on for fit. They scheduled me for an appt. fairly soon but I think I'll go somewhere closer to my new home since nothing is making me stick around. However to reiterate, I have seen two female optometrist there and they were excellent. Agreeing with other reviewers, way too hard to book appointments, you are indeed a number and agreed, that if a contact lens fitting didn't work out, there was never an additional charge to re-fit. It's healthcare providers like Samek who exploits the healthcare system and moved us onto the era of Obamacare. 5-7 minutes with over-the-counter drops and you want to fully bill me!? read more

Roosevelt Vision Center has been my eye clinic for years. The staff there is incredible! I made an appointment, and they were ready for me as soon as I walked in. They made a special effort to explain everything to me, as I was a little nervous about the "eye puff thing." They were patient with the time it took for the eye exam. They also were great about helping me pick a great looking frame! read more

Surprised at the bureaucracy in trying to get an appt today for routine refraction (contact lens follow-up). New to area and randomly called their office. I had an optometry exam 1.8 years ago and ophthalmology exam 6 mo ago by other providers (both routine, no problems). Appt scheduler informed me that I would need to bring chart records of both optometry and ophthalmology exam to appt. As a health care provider (I'm a physician), my question is why? Given I had no problems and am coming in for basic refraction follow-up, is it really necessary for me contacting medical records at both of the above places and deal with paperwork -as opposed to just me writing down that I had an exam 1.8 years ago as historical info? read more

I went to Roosevelt Vision for years- in excess of a decade for glasses, contacts and exams. I used to be so impressed. I was just a bit disappointed because I always had to be on guard against services not covered by insurance. They have some fancy machines and they'll just plop you down in front of them and get ready to use it, but when you ask if it's covered by insurance you learn that they are not (they don't seem pushy about it after you say you will pass to their credit). My greatest disappointment is that, on multiples occasions, I asked a doctor there if I was a LASIK candidate. He very clearly told me I was not and that turned out to be BS. My contacts were bothering me and he said it was because I had dry eyes. He pushed drops, different contact solution as well as more expensive daily wear contacts. My eyes just got a little bit worse each year until I was sensitive to the pain. I thought it could be over wearing them or a lack of sleep that was making my eyes seem irritated. Finally, instead of returning to RSV for another checkup (I was just sure something wasn't right and I actually felt like me vision was getting worse) I went to another doctor who told me that I was actually having a reaction to my contacts- ARGH! My eyes were so irritated and damaged that I was told to instantly stop wearing the contacts. For months I wore glasses and used drops to help my eyes recover. That doctor knew what was wrong with me after one consultation, leaving me to wonder how RSV could not figure out the issue over years of appointments. Once my eyes healed, I ended up getting LASIK and it's the BEST thing I have ever done for myself (next to having my wonderful child). I kick myself almost daily when I realize that I could have gotten a second opinion after RSV counseled me against LASIK years ago. It would have made so many things in my life easier. Now I'm amazed when I wake up and can see clearly and without pain. I just cannot understand why the doctor at RSV warned me off of LASIK when it's improved my life so much and without side effects. I suspect the worst. Bottom line- I've lost trust in them and will have to go elsewhere for wellness exams in the future. read more

They just want to take your money! I just needed an easy check up exam to renew my contact prescription. They had me in for 2 visits with the optometrist, which he had me buy special eye drops, a foam to massage my eyelids (because I apparently had dry eyes I never knew I had). What's funny was when I waited in the lobby my second visit, he recommended the same thing to someone else conveniently. When I went in today to pick up my contacts today I need a new exam/fitting fee of $95. So I bought two different eye drops, eye lid foam, relocated my cat to a different home ( he told me I was allergic and was damaging my eyes, which now I don't believe), $95 fitting fee and no contacts yet! 4 appointments to just get contacts. Ps they drop the contact fitting fee on you when your there, so your blindsided. I've been wearing contacts for 20 yrs and I've never jumped through so many hoops or paid what I have for something so simple! read more

Dr. Kathy Yang-Williams and all of the staff took really good care of me at RVS. It was my first visit and my first pair of glasses. She took the time to explain everything and then staff took the time to help me choose a pair of glasses and figure out cost. Plus I've gotten so many compliments on my glasses, I love them. Thanks for a great experience. read more

Roosevelt Vision healed my red, irritating eyes. Dr Samek is a rockstar! I took my 12 year old daughter here for her first eye exam about six months ago. We saw Rachael Henrie for her initial eye exam and we saw Ginny Mercer about 5 months later so she could be fitted for contacts. Both physicians were great with my daughter, they took their time to explain everything to my daughter so that she understood the purpose of each test before it was performed. I felt like they really took their time and cared about my daughter, they answered all of our questions and we never felt rushed. The ladies in their billing department are great too, very responsive to my requests for itemized receipts and they let me know as soon as our orders for contacts and glasses arrived (very quickly). There is nowhere else I would rather take my family for their eye care needs. Thank you Roosevelt Vision! read more

There were several weird things that happened at my one and only appointment at roosevelt vision. First, while doing some tests (which I had never done at my old optometrist's in my home town) they didn't give me proper instructions so the woman conducting the test thought something was really wrong with my eyes. We had to repeat the test after she rephrased the instructions and I did fine. The second odd thing for me was that we did a contact fitting before my eye exam. I don't know if this is how it is always done at this clinic or if it was just because the optometrist I was seeing was running late. The third (and most aggravating) oddity was that I was prescribed a weaker prescription than my last pair of glasses had. I didn't end up filling the prescription because I knew it would just be a literal and figurative headache. Even though this is the most convenient optometrist for me location wise, I will not be returning. read more

My doctor was great and I would give high marks for the eye exam. The contact lens specialist was, however, an absolute disaster. I have worn contact lenses for over 40 years and have never had a worse fitting - nor one that took so much time, so many appointments, and so many different pairs of lenses, and so many adjustments. If you need contacts look elsewhere. read more

I only got my exam at Roosevelt Vision, did not purchase eyeglasses. I'll definitely be going back to Dr. Samek next time I need an eye exam or prescription. He seems to be a true eye geek, just how I like my doctors to be. Very thorough, was genuinely happy to answer all my questions. I learned more about aging eyes, what to look out for and how to take care of them. My husband really likes Dr. Samek too. read more

If I could give six stars I would. Roosevelt vision clinic had an on call doctor who saw me for an urgent eye issue on a Sunday. The doctor was extremely skillful and explained everything and fixed me right up. This is the vest medical care one can get. They also have a great eyeglasses frame department read more

Getting glasses can be a tough experience, but these guys seem to have the whole process down. From great customer service at the door, to excellent doctor (help explain in simple language) to the attention I received selecting glasses. Not all frames or lens are the same and there are certainly some cheaper (read lower quality) out there, but I am delighted with the look and feel of the pair they helped me choose. I have no issues recommending this place to anyone. read more

This place is terrible for billing. I've had trouble with them several times now. I have primary insurance (premera blue cross) and a secondary insurance (premera microsoft). This is too confusing for the billing staff. They refuse to bill both and so I have to submit a claim. If you like customer service don't go to this place. read more

We eye exams and glasses here. Excellent service for both. Glasses selection is very good. I have complicated prescription and they are always able to suggest which frames will work and not be to heavy and look nice on me. Great follow up for minor adjustments too. read more

Best vision place I have been to in my life. I had Dr. Sifferman to start with, and was very happy with him, but my work schedule made me switch to another Dr. that's available on Saturdays. So, I was very nervous to switch my eye doc, but when I made appointment with Dr. Williams...wow!!! What a great human being! She is your true example what a Doctor should be. She is not rushing her patients out of the exam room, explains what is going on with your eyes...and just has a great down-to-earth personality. Thank you Dr. Williams. Keep up the great job...or I will have to be seeing someone else :) (and I would not want to). read more

I have been a patient at this office for 4 years, and this year was the last appointment Ill ever make. I had to wait forever to get an appointment and took the first available at 7:00 am on a Saturday. I was seen late, the doctor was not friendly, made fun of my RX and wouldn't answer my question (skirted around it) about verifying my pupillary distance, that they had measured for me at the last visit. Now, because people dont want to buy glasses from their vision center, and more folks are going online, they will charge you $35 to get information that last year they gave for free. I feel that they charge plenty to be seen just for regular vision appointments, I even paid extra for a picture of each eye due to familial eye problems. So, when they refused to help me get affordable glasses (because theirs are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and my insurance doesnt work with them for hardware) I decided to find someone who will help and understand that me seeing them is about their expertise, not what glasses the attached vision store can sell me. read more

There are signs that a few employees care, but overall there was a lack of personal touch. The Dr. was very thorough and recommended using some expensive items for my eye care. Had two visits to confirm my prescription. At that point....3 stars. They do not, however, carry the contacts in house so I had to make a 3rd visit. Not convenient when my work hours are the same as their open hours. The bit that knocked it down to 2 stars was the phone call I got 3 weeks after my last visit stating that the contacts were in, but if I didn't come and pick them up within a week, they would be shipped back. Huh? read more

I've always been treated with great respect and dignity at Roosevelt Vision. I'm never rushed or pressured. I've been a patient at RVS for over 10+ years. I've had the opportunity to work with several of the doctors, including Dr Komkoff, Dr Jamieson & Dr Yang-Williams --all of which were very attentive and had a great listening ear. From my experience, they always educated me with current concerns and recommendation for intervention. In one instance, I was prescribed glasses but the glasses we're giving me migraines and was making me nauseated that would last for days. After a prescription recheck and assessing my symptoms further, it was determined that my astigmatism just didn't want to be corrected. Fascinating! Right now, I'm able to manage without correction but know that in the future as my astigmatism progresses, that I will need to revisit correction and symptom management. More recently, I had an appointment at RVS. It appeared that I may have miscommunicated the reason for my visit. But rather than rescheduling me, Dr. Yang-Williams and her team was able to fit me into an extended visit in their already busy morning schedule to ensure that my needs were met. It was a medical visit and the results were needed not only for my sanity but more importantly, for continuity of care from other medical providers. One thing I would highly recommend when making an appointment at RVS... Because the providers are very thorough and although the scheduling staff makes every effort to correctly schedule the amount of time needed for your visit, things come up. I have found that scheduling as early as possible in the morning have the least wait time. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Scott Jamieson and his staff for many years. I've always found them to be professional, courteous, welcoming and highly efficient. They've established great processes and the workflow of their practice makes for a well-run operation. I saw Dr. Samek and I had a great experience! I found him to be personable and professional and very helpful. His perscription was dead-on and my eyes feel better than ever! I brought in a pair of vintage frames to Roosevelt Vision, which I've done at numerous of different eye clinics (including the cheap-o under an hour ones) over the years. (Not even delicate ones. This is the only clinic to send me off with crooked frames! I kept telling the woman they were crooked, and she tried a few times to fix it...but then basically was like "Yeah..sorry." and a "BUH Bye we're done" face. They also tried to UP SALE the crap out purchasing contacts, which I've never worn and add-on procedures. Absurd. read more

I just moved to Seattle from the Bay Area where California contact prescriptions expire after 1 year. I went to this clinic earlier this year because it was located very close to where I lived and the reviews seemed decent. I had an appointment with Dr. Jamieson. The exam itself was satisfactory, and he seemed like a friendly-enough guy. However, at several points during the exam he and his staff tried to upsell me on various 'extra' procedures and diagnositics, even though I just came in for a routine eye exam and to get a new glasses prescription. My insurance fully covers a general eye exam, and that's what I asked for. But when I went to check out expecting to pay nothing out of pocket (as I have done in years past at other clinics) they informed me that I had to pay $50 for a contact lens fitting, which was ridiculous because I hadn't even ordered contacts and he did nothing during the exam as far as fitting my contacts besides having me read the eye chart with and without them in. I've never had a problem with this at the other clinic I usually go to. Finally they ended up charging the $50 toward my hardware benefit, which still made little sense as I hadn't actually gotten any new hardware. I will never go here again. read more
