Wow! Such an unexpected and pleasant surprise! My husband surprised me with dinner at Roopa's tonight. I'm writing this in the car on the way home...THAT'S how much I enjoyed it! My hubs stumbled upon the restaurant by chance...and I'm so glad he did! It will be our new place! Ever since moving to Temple...we've been wanting a great place like this! This area is in serious need of high quality, authentic dining...that offers something other than the usual foods you find around here. On top of that...they offer vegetarian dishes, which we were happy to see! It's in demand, but there are SO few options for healthy and veg meals, that are also delicious! Roopa's just opened a couple weeks ago...so I'm really hoping people give it a chance, and support a local business. ..because we REALLY want them to stick around, lol! The service was great...they are very attentive, and the food was served in perfect timing. Everything was fresh, spot on authentic, perfect size meals...I was making "omg this is delishhh" faces...haha! Don't let the pics fool you...the plates were large! The pancake potato dish was HUGE! Between the 2 of us, we were only able to eat 1/3 of it with our meals! We overhead a woman near us talking about the food...and im worried that people might leave bad reviews....simply because they have no idea what REAL Indian food is supposed to taste like. Not all of the meals are spicy, but they use legit spices, so if you're ordering a spicy meal...it's gonna be hot. They are perfectly cool with you asking them to cut back on the heat. When we drove up...I was expecting a mom and pop looking place, but it's actually really nice inside...at first I was worried I was under dressed, lol! They have nice tables, and booths as well! We liked the space and the food so much, we are going to see if we can hold a family gathering there. Can't wait to go back...seriously thinking about taking my mum there for lunch tomorrow! Lol! (Did I mention they are really reasonably priced!? Haha!) Also...I heard on the way out that they're adding a bar! read more

Roopas Kitchen - Chicken curry. So good - Indian Near Me - Temple, Texas

My husband has been craving curry for a few days and I, well...I'm always down for some good Indian food. So, today, for no reason other than satisfying these cravings, we drove 45 minutes from Waco to Temple to Roopa's. We walked in, noted the several tables seated and quietly enjoying their dinners. The place smelled delicious. We were greeted and seated promptly by a friendly woman who identified herself as part of the kitchen staff. We chatted for a few minutes and we were pleased at the welcoming. While she went to get our menus and ice water, I did my usual scan of the place. Nice casual atmosphere and well-maintained and clean. We were hungry and knowingly ordered far more than we could eat with the intent of taking home leftovers. The veggie pakora was delicious and we cleaned the plate. Service was quick and friendly as we received our chicken korma and biryani soon after. My husband was in heaven. The korma was slightly different than what I am accustomed to but it was delicious. The biryani was probably the best I've had. The mango cheesecake and Indian tea...both a perfect end to a tasty meal. Just as we were finishing, a woman we hadn't seen emerged from the kitchen. It was Roopa herself. It seems the kitchen staff had discussed our trip to Temple to try the place out. Wonderful touch. On the drive home, our takeout box in hand, my husband and I discussed ratings for the restaurant. He scolded me for my cheap 4.5. (I have only once given a 5 star review. I'm very conservative with my fives). Eventually, I gave in. Roopa's is indeed deserving of a 5 star review. read more

The food was okay we ordered the garlic chicken, chicken tikki masala and garlic naan. The tikki masala tasted like curry. The garlic naan was about $3 and it came with 4 triangle cut pieces I have tasted better naan and I could have gone without getting this. The restaurant was empty when I went and there was 2 servers. Service was kind of slow and the servers were not very attentive to refilling drinks. The flavor of the food was bland and I will stick to a restaurant that's closer to home Taj Indian restaurant and bar. I have posted a review of that restaurant as well. read more

We went here for the first time. The place is clean and nice. Travis was very pleasant and took care of us. The food was amazing with a short ticket time. I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. I was told they are also getting a grill for tandoori which we are all very excited about. We will visit soon. read more

So we have been following Roopa since she was cooking Indian food out of a gas station. We LOVE her cooking and this restaurant is what we have been waiting for! The food is delicious and has all the flavor you want from Indian. If you're hesitant, you can get any dish mild and ease yourself into Indian food. But, whether you're a veteran or a rookie, you're going to love this place! read more

Very clean and well taken care of restaurant. Our service was excellent the food was even better. We had wonderful potato and pea samosa to start off the meal. The pastry was crisp but not too hard and the potato was soft, flavorful and served at the right temperature. The chicken tikka masala was our main course and was also, cooked perfectly. We did order the lemon rice with it. Separately they are both wonderful dishes. Together, they are still good but the lemon rice overpowered some of the creamy flavor of the tikka masala. We will be back and will have to try the rest of the menu. read more

The portions were plentiful, and the garlic naan was very good. I ordered "medium spice," and it was hot, hot, hot. Be careful about spice level. Chicken Tikka Masala was less creamy than I prefer. I ordered takeout, and it was ready for me when I arrived. read more

Used to love this place. Last 2 times I've gone it was not good. I hate it when this happens because you know they can be great, they just don't care anymore read more

The atmosphere was very nice, waitstaff are friendly and helpful. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Biryani. The masala was over salted and because they used chicken breasts instead of bone-in thigh chunks, the meat was dry and list some of the brothy flavor. The biryani also with chicken breast was a dry, overcooked, mushy mess. Also, Naan did not come with the meal, but has to be ordered separately. Since you have to wait to be seated and the waiter checks you out, this is unlike most other restaurants of its kind. We ordered the avocado parota, which is a flat bread with avocado in the mix. While trying to appeal to the generic American population, they have lost the soul of pure Indian food, which is a heartier, more flavorful fare. read more

Delicious food, helpful & knowledgeable staff. A definite must try! We've tried the masala dosa, the samosas, and the crispy lentil patties that are appetizers. My boyfriend had the mango lassi, which was delicious but a bit heavy to drink with a meal. On our next visit, he had the Indian lemonade, which was perfect. read more

Great place! I am on a bicycle from San Antonio to Oklahoma, and needed a place to eat so I stopped here. It was amazing!!!! The waitress was very sweet and accommodated my sitting so I could keep an eye on my bicycle. I got some naan for the rest of my trip, but I don't think it will even last the next hour! It's delicious! read more

Roopas Kitchen - Dal with a side of naan!!! - Indian Near Me - Temple, Texas

You have to go here if you're in Temple. WONDERFUL chicken curry (that's all I've had so far) and a chai tea to go with it. Who I'm guessing is the owner rang me up and asked how everything was. I went two days in a row and can't wait to try more on the menu! Red Onion in Killeen is good but this place is way better in my opinion. read more

This place definitely met my expectations! Dishes were well seasoned and came in perfect portions. Service was attentive without being interruptive. I chose to go "spicy" since experience has taught me most places daily back the heat level for American palettes. This place does NOT, which I appreciated very much! If you're not accustomed to heat, "mild" gives just a touch of heat but is quite manageable. We will be going back for another opportunity to try out their lamb and host dishes since those are only served on Friday and Saturday. read more

BEST INFIAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD, the chicken was mad soft and everything was seasoned perfectly cooked

I'm SO glad we found Roopa's Kitchen. I can't say enough about the service, atmosphere and food. My husband and I have been eating plant-based for just over three years, and Indian, Thai and Chinese are our staples. My palate is overjoyed. read more

HOLY COW !!! This place right here was sent from the Indian food gods itself. Lol this place was absolutely delicious. As an Indian food geek from south Florida the food here was delicious. I can't wait to go back !!! I had the chicken tikka masala and it was absolutely different from what I had in other Indian restaurants. My husband had the fish pakora and he enjoyed them ! I'll be back next week. And oh !! The samosas were to darn good and the pakoras ?!? They were excellent and seasoned well. Did I say I couldn't wait to come back ?!? I'll be back next week ! Based on other reviews, we tried Roopas. We ordered Chicken Tikki Masala. The sauce was very soupy and not to our liking. We have eaten Indian food in Dallas, Austin as well as Killeen and those have been consistent. The prices are a little high for what we received. read more

This was our second time here and we were completely satisfied yet again. We drive from the Waco area for this Indian food. By far surpasses the only option in Waco. read more

Very tasty food. Lives up to the word of not using MSG and coloring in their food. Ordered chicken lollipop, chicken biryani and mutton biryani. Quantity is less for the prices of items. Other than that everything is good. Chai too sweet for my taste. Indian lemonade must try! Very refreshing. read more

Roopas Kitchen - Masala Dosa - Indian Near Me - Temple, Texas

Wonderful. Every dish my wife and I had was great for different reason. The samosas come out hot on the inside and crispy on the outside. I love their adaptation of Chicken Tika. It is a rare thing to see someone know how to sear chicken while leaving it juicy and moist on the inside. The sauce relies more on dry spices and less on tomato than other sauces I've tried, and I enjoyed the difference. The dishes we tried tended to be quite spicy. If you normally go with medium spice, you may find mild a equal substitution here. We finished with piece of cheesecake drizzled with a sweet mango sauce. Velvety texture, and all the wonderful things that a cheesecake should have. All in all I love this place and hope to never see it go. The servers and owners were friendly, and the atmosphere peaceful during the lunch hour. If you love Indian food I implore you to give it a try. It won't taste exactly like every Indian restaurant you've ever been in and that's a good thing. It makes it more real and less like a cookie-cutter copy of some master recipe book used for opening Indian diners. read more

This place was merely okay. The service was good, the space was clean, but the food was just sort of lackluster. The spice level was fine, but the complexity of flavor was not there. We tried the chicken tikka masala and the butter chicken along with the vegetable pakoras, vegetable samosas, and the garlic and regular naan. The chicken tikka masala was not creamy or rich. It was spicy, but it was bland in all other aspects. It lacked the buttery beautiful magic and was instead mostly cayenne pepper. The butter chicken was the relatively better choice. The naan choices were good. I particularly liked the garlic naan. The pakoras were good, but the samosas were bland. Overall, this place was a decent experience, but it wasn't completely memorable. read more

I ordered the butter chicken, lemon rice and garlic naan. The garlic naan was the only delicious part of my meal. The lemon rice was good but the butter chicken I will not order again. I also found my meal to be over priced. I paid $22 for those 3 items. I am all for supporting local business, but I will not eat here again. read more

It was impressive last night!! We have been here several times and it's always has good flavor and the people are nice. Side note: First time we had Indian food was in Europe so nothing here really has compared so far. I always get Hot because I love love love spicy!!! But it's normally more medium. We haven't been here in probably 10-12 months. And may I say WOW!! It was incredible!!!! So much so we had to call and tell them!!! And when they picked up they said "kitchen" so it was pretty perfect that I got to thank the people that actually prepared the food! Maybe we go at the wrong part of the day we figure. We normally go around 2 but since they aren't doing dine in due to COVID we decided to do take out last night, called in our food and picked it up about 6:15. We were in heaven last night eating that food! It was seriously the best visit we have ever had. It was like we were very close to being back in Europe. So good I literally ate every bite!!! So my tummy was happy and so was I! Well done!!!! read more

Had a wonderful lunch at Roopa's today, enjoying CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA and CHICKEN CURRY, with amazing lemon rice, and Indian bread, and a refreshing side of cucumber salad. Tried a glass of INDIAN MANGO LASSI, soo good, a refreshing yoghurt drink. Dessert was GULAB JAMUN...sweet but not fatty doughnut ball in Safran syrup ... super delicious! This restaurant is one with the cleanest flatware I've seen! And it's obvious they take much pride in their craft. Atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. Friendly people! We LOVED it! read more

The worst Indian food I have ever had.. Honestly, this is not authentic Indian food. It's pretty much fake. Don't expect a gobi manchurian if you order one. Expect pakoras! read more

Our visit today wasn't up to par. The garlic naan was undercooked and doughy still. The goat binyani was a great portion but there was hardly any goat. The goat we did receive was mostly bone. We would have brought it up in store but we were never checked on. read more

We've been eating at this restaurant for about 1 year now. We have NEVER been disappointed. The appetizers and entrees are always flavorful, freshly cooked, and perfect. Great place for an Indian lunch, spiced just the way you like. Service was friendly & efficient. Of course the garlic naan was the best.

So good! If your in the mood for some authentic Indian food come here! You won't be disappointed. We can't wait to go back!

Ate there for dinner tonight. Enjoyed it! I had the butter chicken, my husband the paneer tikka masala. My daughter wasn't very hungry, but munched on the rice and naan. Food came out fast, was delicious. The only thing that was off was the iced tea- I have rarely been to a place where the tea is too strong, but this was definitely too strong. We also shared a piece of the mango cheesecake which was amazing! My daughter picked it, and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised at how yummy it was. We will definitely be going back!! read more

The chicken 65 and lemon was fantastic and nann was so so good. I have ordered multiple times from here and every single time it's great.
