Nice clean place, if lacking in character. The samosas were beautifully spiced and moist inside and didn't even need the chutney. The homemade chutneys were packed with flavor. I like hot but if you don't you can ask for things mild. They also ask if you have peanut allergies (I don't) but I appreciate they ask. The aloo gobi was ok but there was a flavor in there I didn't care for. The chicken vindaloo was OK but not my favorite. It was tender but there was something about it I just didn't care for. The lemon rice is pretty spectacular with lots of spices adding crunchy flavor. The garlic naan bread is life changing, I don't why, but you've got to try it. However, it was unevenly cooked. I love this place and will return. I will keep trying the different entrees to find my favorites. read more

We drove from Harker Heights because the restaurant is nice and service is welcoming and attentive. We had everything from appetizers, entrees, homemade naan, and dessert and chai tea and it's all remarkable. Prices are very inexpensive for quality and large portion sizes. Samuel is a nice man who waited on us. We had an enjoyable Lunch and we are so glad we have found Roopa's! read more

Wow! Best chicken tikka masala and naan! The mild was a bit spicy, but it was so delicious! The Indian lemonade with cardamom was amazing! read more

Love getting take out from roopas! Naan and butter chicken are so good! Love the cheesecake options for dessert

Absolutely love Roopa's Kitchen. It's my favorite restaurant in Temple. I would not say I'm well-versed in Indian cuisine, but I love trying new dishes from Roopa's, and none have disappointed. You must order the samosas!!!! In my opinion the spice level here is a little on the high end compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to. Maybe choose one spice level down if it is your first time here. read more

I was not really impressed by the food. I ordered a curry chick and a butter chicken and both gravies were the same. The only thing different was the curry chicken has more spice. I like the bread but over all I was not impressed. read more

Nooooo this place has not so good Indian food. So bad we called and got our money refunded

Great food in a surprising location. The reshmi kabab chicken was juicy and flavorful. The marathon paneer was creamy and delicious. The onion pakora was crunchy and spicy. The service was very friendly and accommodating. read more

Amazing food !!! I love Indian food and this place is authentic and just the best Indian food I've ever had. I had the Butter Chicken Mild and it was the perfect amount of spice. Everyone has to eat here if they love Indian food. 10/10 recommend and will be coming back :) read more

Very bland. Disappointed in the tough, flavorless naan. It has been nicknamed "Roopa-rhea" by a few of my acquaintances and while I wouldn't go that far, we have requested it not be ordered for our catered lunches in the future. read more

Found this little gem on the way back home. Super clean and everyone is so nice! My waiter was excellent and attentive. I ordered lemon rice, goat curry & naan. everything was seasoned and full of flavor to perfection! Portion size was very filling. If your looking for some good Indian food i highly recommend Roopa's. I live 20 mins away and it's worth the drive. Glad i spent my Saturday late lunch early dinner here read more

Love their Butter Chicken and Naan bread! Great place to eat ,or order you food for pick-up. Small sitting area but good atmosphere. The only small draw back is spice level consistency. Some days the mild is a mild, and other it's more of a medium than mild. read more

This is such a hidden gem in Temple, TX. Really good traditional Indian food. Also, if you check in on yelp you can get 10% off your order. I've had the paneer tikka masala, butter chicken, goat biryani and of course their naan bread which is all good. This particular visit I decided to do something different. I ordered the masala dosa which is a large Indian pancake with a curried potatoe mixture inside. It comes with 3 different sauces that are all good. I ate the whole thing and was full for hours. I also got the Indian lemonade which was refreshing. My friend got the spiced Indian tea and I was immediately jealous because it looks like a chai tea. Anyways, can't go wrong here! read more

Wish I could give negative star. Horrible taste. This is not an indian food. Tandoori Fish tikka was plain fried fish coated in tasteless batter. Chicken curry was just meshed chicken served with some weird watery gravy.. read more

Yummy food I wasn't disappointed at all the gulab jamun was fresh and delicious. Panner tikka was perfect spicy and the lime rice was super good. Definitely coming back. read more

I am East Indian so I have quite a high standard for Indian restaurants. I can say that without a doubt, this is very legitimate food. First of all, don't be scared of it being too spicy - they will ask you what spice level you want so you can be cautious at first, if desired. I've had the chicken 65, the cauliflower 65, the chicken korma, the chicken curry, the butter chicken and the garlic naan. If you're new to Indian food, start with something a little more mild like butter chicken but if you want more depth of flavor, go with the chicken curry or biryiani (goat served on weekends only). The naan is pretty large, so it could serve 2 people unless you're really hungry. Food is served with basmati rice, but upgrade to the lemon rice or biryani, for a small price. At the end of the meal, I recommend ordering Chai. This isn't ordinary bagged tea. This is fresh chai, spiced with notes of fresh cardamom and vanilla. It's made in-house and so good. read more

Gluten-free friendly! Approved for someone like me with Celiac. Super authentic, which translates SPICY! Our waiter was a tall young gentleman who knew all the dishes very well. He recommended the cauliflower for appetizer and it was tasty spicy! I am not a heat tolerant person, which means I do not take spice very well, so for my entree he recommended butter chicken and noted the chef to make is very very mild. The dish was huge in proportion and delicious! My SO is a huge fan of the ethnic food. He said "If it weren't for Roopa having worthwhile ethnic food, I don't know what I would have done." He's very serious about that. Highly recommended place! We've eaten here and had take outs multiple times! read more

Stopped in for the first time today and five stars is not enough! As a vegan family we we're thrilled to find this gem of a restaurant. So many delicious vegan options! The atmosphere is calming and relaxing - the staff is friendly, informative and helpful - the food is fantastic! We ordered, shared and ate 8 different items - and each one was delicious! We will definitely go back. read more

The food seems a bit over priced but it's the only Indian restaurant in town (that I know of) so they have cornered the market ;) The onion pakoras are awesome. The paneer tikka masala is quite oily compared to other places. read more

I've had better Indian food. The way it tasted seemed as though the chef didn't put any passion into cooking it. I hope they step up their game because I love Indian food. read more

Where to start, the naan was burned literally to a crisp. The chicken Tikka masala was flavorless but so hot you couldn't have tasted it anyway. The vegetable biryani was mush and the only vegetables were mushy peas and a couple carrot chunks. Big waist of money. If you are ever in Waco go to Saffron. Much better food. read more

I've been here a few times. We gave no other Indian food in our area. Its mediocre at best and way too pricey for the size and quality. Today, I stepped out of my norm and tried the grilled tilapia with veg. biranya. Oh so disappointing. So bland, where is the salt, fish was dry and the veg in the biranya so mushy. Maybe that's how its suppose to be? I'm no expert on Indian food. 14.00, I'm a bit let down. I did let the waiter know I did not enjoy it. He apologized. read more

Love the chicken tikka masala and the garlic naan. The prices are a little high but I've never been disappointed with the food

Pulled off the freeway for some Indian food and saw the reviews for this place. WOW! We could tell from all the other diners that we were in the right place! Food was fresh, hot, wonderfully spiced, and clearly prepared by a fine, fine chef. We travel this route often, and we will make this stop again the next time we pass through Temple. read more

I would give them a negative star if that was an option!! I called in for a to go order and asked them about recommendations on what is most popular, after selecting some dishes and asking about their appetizers, the service rep acted very rudely and told me that he had other customers to attend to so I just place my order or go their website. I will never be coming here with this kind of attitude against a paying customer. This is America, we respect each other especially paying customers!! read more

Really disappointed in the service received today. Called in for a pick up order (for 7 people) and was told it'd be ready in 30 minutes. Unfortunately when I arrived (30 minutes later), I was told the food would not be ready for another hour. The guy at the front was super rude, didn't even apologize while he had a smirk on his face. My wife and I love Indian food, so we were very excited to see a well reviewed Indian restaurant in Temple that advertised "Authentic Indian Food" . That excitement quickly turned to disappointment. We ordered take out. So let start off with the samosas. Outside nice and crispy, inside the right texture, but lacking any kind of spice/flavoring at all. My wife order the chicken tika masala and I ordered the butter chicken. Both of these entrees were in what looked like thin turmeric water with some chili flakes, and they tasted exactly the same. We've had both of these dishes before, Indian is usually thick, rich and full of spice(flavor), neither of these dishes fit the bill. The tika masala didn't even have any tomato flavor to it at all. The chicken in both of these dishes tasted like straight grilled chicken, lacking any marinade or spice on it Now the best part of the meal was the naan. We ordered the regular and garlic, both were cooked well and were very buttery. Honestly I've had better Indian food out of the frozen section of a grocery store from brands like Tandoor Chef or Saffron Road. read more

This is a pleasant place to eat and meet people. Somewhat quiet. Service is decent. The menu is somewhat small but offers enough variety for most people. Standard Indian dishes, including dosas. the prices are normal enough too, although I find naan and changing from white to lemon rice at nearly $3 or $4 expensive. the portion sizes are pretty good too. I just didn't find the taste of the two dishes I tried to have much flavor. The ingredients, etc., seemed fine. We stayed pretty late and they waited until we were done. That was nice. So, I'm okay with returning, but it is not an amazing place, as many people say. read more

I decided to let Yelp select my dining spot tonight. I searched "Best Restaurants" and I saw tons of killer reviews. I love Indian food so here I am. The Samosas are HUGE! I was a bit overwhelmed. They came out hot & delicious-crispy as well. The potato-vegetable filling was pleasingly spicy and the biggest I have ever had. This is going to be great. The sauce alongside was spicy with a hint of sweet that beautifully accentuated the Samosas. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo they said a variation on a Portuguese dish. I have known a number of Indian natives with Portuguese surnames so the connection is obvious. A note about the service. My server was attentive, efficient and friendly. She kept my tea glass full and was working most of the room. The Vindaloo resembles Tiki Masala in the dish but has a delightfully different flavor with a distinct chili bite. Extremely high quality chicken and fresh ingredients make the dish. The unexpected accompaniment of a cool and refreshing cucumber based salad gave a cooling splash. People who don't know Indian spices must just dislike flavor. The look, taste, smell and spicy bite combine to make a dining experience unlike any other. Roopa's fully lived up to it's lofty reviews. Temple is fortunate, indeed! read more
