CHICKEN BIRYANI Basmati rice prepared with roasted chicken chunks, mint leaves, bay leaves, and spices
Tate V.

Roopa's Kitchen 11-12-25 Lovely Indian Restaurant with a comfortable dining room. Staff are friendly and helpful. Had trouble deciding which food to order! Lots of choices on the menu. We started off with the Samosas - Potato pastries filled with savory potatoes and green peas -served with tamarind sauce They were served hot and fresh. They are very flavorful. We had: Buttered Chicken -Mild - Cubes of roasted chicken coated with a buttery sauce Onion Masala Dosa - Large Indian pancake made from rice and white lentils, Served with potato masala, coconut chutney, and sambar. Chicken Biryani Mild - Basmati rice prepared with roasted chicken chunks, mint leaves, bay leaves, and spices Chicken Biryani Spicy- Basmati rice prepared with roasted chicken chunks, mint leaves, bay leaves, and spices Butter Chicken - Spicy - Cubes of roasted chicken coated with a buttery sauce Definitely will be back! Yummy!

Still the best Indian food in the county. A local favorite of many BS&W medical pros. Go lighter than you think on the heat until you're sure you can handle it. Very refreshing & tasty dishes. The rice (biryani) & naan are simply perfect as is the dessert Gulab Jamon. Great spot for a date meal or hosting a group. Service is kind & the place is kept spotless. The cloth napkins & heavy silverware elicit a fine dining experience but with a casual atmosphere. Come in shorts or a tux, all the same, you won't feel out of place. Roopa's Kitchen is down home Indian with a royal feel. You'll be glad you went.

Brought my meal home tonight. So appreciate them accommodating me as I don't eat meat but I LOVE LOVE the BUTTER CHICKEN SAUCE

Amazing vegan food in temple Texas. We had the onion and potato dosas which were phenomenal. Also got some lentil dish that wasn't as good but the rest was 10/10 . Nice quiet restaurant, fast service.

We checked out this place while in Temple, TX & was presently surprised about how delicious their food was! We started off with some samosas (potato pastries filled with savory potatoes & green peas. Served with tamarind sauce) along with the veg pakora (fried fritters drilled with mixed vegetables, flavored with spices. Served with a coconut dipping sauce). Both were extremely flavorful! For our entrée, we ordered Chana Masala (a chickpea dish cooked with tomatoes, ginger, garlic, & a blend of spices). We asked for it spicy & the waitress asked if we were sure. Since we both love spicy food, we said we were sure. But they definitely weren't lying about the spice level! So scrumptious but made one of us sweat lol We also ordered a side of garlic naan & avocado parota (100% whole wheat bread filled with fresh avocado & spices). Perfect for dipping into the Chana Masala! I highly recommend this place if you're in the neighborhood & are craving some authentic Indian food!

Naan was too thick, not fully cooked and the masala sauce runny.

Chicken masala was runny, Naan bread so thick it wasn't fully cooked. Very unpleasant.

We ordered the chicken tikka masala and paneer masala, and both were absolutely delicious. The garlic naan was light, flaky, and packed with great flavor without being over-the-top garlicky. To top it off, the mango lassi was fantastic! Overall, I give this restaurant a 10/10. The restaurant itself has a wonderful environment with great music. I totally recommend it, and we will definitely be back!

We came in about 45 minutes after opening time, we were greeted and seated promptly. We were then offered drinks! We chose water , which was at room temp ( disappointing). Then the host walked us through how the buffet works. My disappointment was that we came in pretty early(12:30) and the buffet wasn't really ready for the public . Beyond that the buffet includes naan tableside - which was 1/2 of a naan and wasn't included in the buffet price ( disappointing). So our understanding was if you ask for more naan ! You pay for that?????? Any way! We ate and felt like we needed to not eat as much to save food for others. Buffet should be full and ready for lunch! This wasn't.

Have you ever walked into an ethnic spot, looked around and saw nothing but people of that culture?…read moreTHAT'S EXACTLY what happened to me when I came here with the fam. It was a little intimidating but mostly exciting. The vibe here was mostly straight business. Waiters standing around like in a military stance, legs shoulder width apart, hands behind their backs waiting for any signs from their tables needing anything. I will keep it 100 and say that our waiter wasn't exactly warm and inviting but they were attentive. The atmosphere is decorated ornately and kinda made me feel like an emperor of sorts, or at least some random squire in the court. We ordered an absolute feast ranging from chicken tikka masala, to garlic naan, rice, samosas, a fresh mango yogurt drink and some flavored tea. Everything was delicious and jam packed with spices. This was one of the few restaurant experiences I've had in the past couple years where I gorged beyond my usual limit bc it was THAT good. My one minor complaint is the chicken tikka masala was more sauce than actual chicken which I found somewhat annoying but I quickly forgave them. The bill came soon after I requested it and the price was fair considering the quality of food we got was top notch. This place has got it going on like a fine lady from Beverly Hills but as you'd expect some attitude from a gorgeous lass that knows she's got it going on, the same can be said for a great restaurant. Ignore the 'tude and come enjoy the grub, it's worth it.

We were seated immediately and service was quick. For our appetizer we tried the Gobi Manchurian which was a 5/5! It was super good with the Gobi being perfectly crispy and tasting delicious. We also got mini idlis which were a 4.5/5. Tasty, but nothing super special. We ordered their veg biryani as well which was good. We rate it a 4.2/5. The garlic naan and malai kofta was a 4.3/5 since the garlic naan was very tasty but the kofta was just good. Overall, the food was yummy and we had a good time here!

One of the most memorable dishes we had was a special that our server highly recommended--and it was truly a showstopper. I wish I had gotten the exact name because I can't find it on their online menu, but visually and flavor-wise it was stunning. It came wrapped and cooked in a banana leaf, layered with rich, velvety saag, what tasted like thin dosa or chapati layers, egg, aromatic spices, tender chunks of meat, and curry, all melded together into this beautifully perfumed, steamy package. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a chili sauce that balanced the heat perfectly. The presentation alone was gorgeous, and the flavors were deep, earthy, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered the curry goat, which was delicately spiced with a wonderful, slow-building heat. The meat was tender, the gravy rich without being heavy, and it paired perfectly with the simple white rice that let the complex spices shine. The tandoori goat chops were the family favorite by far. Everyone loved the smoky char and bold marinade. Personally, I found them a bit softer than I prefer, but the flavor was outstanding--robust, well-seasoned, and unmistakably tandoori. Finally, we ordered the Tandoori Pomfret to go, and I had it later with rice porridge. It was absolutely scrumptious. The fish was fragrant, beautifully spiced, and still juicy, making it the perfect comfort meal with the warm, soothing porridge. Overall, Subham Chettinad Grill delivers authentic, soulful Indian cooking with layers of spice, heat, and aroma that feel both traditional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for real South Indian and Chettinad-style flavors in Austin, this place is a must-try.
