Very clean and well taken care of restaurant. Our service was excellent the food was even better. We had wonderful potato and pea samosa to start off the meal. The pastry was crisp but not too hard and the potato was soft, flavorful and served at the right temperature. The chicken tikka masala was our main course and was also, cooked perfectly. We did order the lemon rice with it. Separately they are both wonderful dishes. Together, they are still good but the lemon rice overpowered some of the creamy flavor of the tikka masala. Wow! Such an unexpected and pleasant surprise! My husband surprised me with dinner at Roopa's tonight. I'm writing this in the car on the way home...THAT'S how much I enjoyed it! My hubs stumbled upon the restaurant by chance...and I'm so glad he did! It will be our new place! Ever since moving to Temple...we've been wanting a great place like this! This area is in serious need of high quality, authentic dining...that offers something other than the usual foods you find around here. On top of that...they offer vegetarian dishes, which we were happy to see! It's in demand, but there are SO few options for healthy and veg meals, that are also delicious! Roopa's just opened a couple weeks ago...so I'm really hoping people give it a chance, and support a local business. ..because we REALLY want them to stick around, lol! The service was great...they are very attentive, and the food was served in perfect timing. Everything was fresh, spot on authentic, perfect size meals...I was making "omg this is delishhh" faces...haha! Don't let the pics fool you...the plates were large! The pancake potato dish was HUGE! Between the 2 of us, we were only able to eat 1/3 of it with our meals! We overhead a woman near us talking about the food...and im worried that people might leave bad reviews....simply because they have no idea what REAL Indian food is supposed to taste like. Not all of the meals are spicy, but they use legit spices, so if you're ordering a spicy meal...it's gonna be hot. They are perfectly cool with you asking them to cut back on the heat. This place definitely met my expectations! Dishes were well seasoned and came in perfect portions. Service was attentive without being interruptive. I chose to go "spicy" since experience has taught me most places daily back the heat level for American palettes. This place does NOT, which I appreciated very much! If you're not accustomed to heat, "mild" gives just a touch of heat but is quite manageable. My husband has been craving curry for a few days and I, well...I'm always down for some good Indian food. So, today, for no reason other than satisfying these cravings, we drove 45 minutes from Waco to Temple to Roopa's. We walked in, noted the several tables seated and quietly enjoying their dinners. The place smelled delicious. We were greeted and seated promptly by a friendly woman who identified herself as part of the kitchen staff. We chatted for a few minutes and we were pleased at the welcoming. While she went to get our menus and ice water, I did my usual scan of the place. Nice casual atmosphere and well-maintained and clean. We were hungry and knowingly ordered far more than we could eat with the intent of taking home leftovers. The veggie pakora was delicious and we cleaned the plate. Service was quick and friendly as we received our chicken korma and biryani soon after. My husband was in heaven. The korma was slightly different than what I am accustomed to but it was delicious. The biryani was probably the best I've had. The mango cheesecake and Indian tea...both a perfect end to a tasty meal. Just as we were finishing, a woman we hadn't seen emerged from the kitchen. It was Roopa herself. It seems the kitchen staff had discussed our trip to Temple to try the place out. Wonderful touch. On the drive home, our takeout box in hand, my husband and I discussed ratings for the restaurant. We went here for the first time. The place is clean and nice. Travis was very pleasant and took care of us. The food was amazing with a short ticket time. I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. I was told they are also getting a grill for tandoori which we are all very excited about. We will visit soon. read more

The atmosphere was very nice, waitstaff are friendly and helpful. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Biryani. The masala was over salted and because they used chicken breasts instead of bone-in thigh chunks, the meat was dry and list some of the brothy flavor. The biryani also with chicken breast was a dry, overcooked, mushy mess. Also, Naan did not come with the meal, but has to be ordered separately. Since you have to wait to be seated and the waiter checks you out, this is unlike most other restaurants of its kind. We ordered the avocado parota, which is a flat bread with avocado in the mix. While trying to appeal to the generic American population, they have lost the soul of pure Indian food, which is a heartier, more flavorful fare. read more

Wonderful. Every dish my wife and I had was great for different reason. The samosas come out hot on the inside and crispy on the outside. I love their adaptation of Chicken Tika. It is a rare thing to see someone know how to sear chicken while leaving it juicy and moist on the inside. The sauce relies more on dry spices and less on tomato than other sauces I've tried, and I enjoyed the difference. The dishes we tried tended to be quite spicy. If you normally go with medium spice, you may find mild a equal substitution here. We finished with piece of cheesecake drizzled with a sweet mango sauce. Velvety texture, and all the wonderful things that a cheesecake should have. All in all I love this place and hope to never see it go. The servers and owners were friendly, and the atmosphere peaceful during the lunch hour. If you love Indian food I implore you to give it a try. It won't taste exactly like every Indian restaurant you've ever been in and that's a good thing. Great place! I am on a bicycle from San Antonio to Oklahoma, and needed a place to eat so I stopped here. It was amazing!!!! It was impressive last night!! We have been here several times and it's always has good flavor and the people are nice. Side note: First time we had Indian food was in Europe so nothing here really has compared so far. I always get Hot because I love love love spicy!!! But it's normally more medium. We haven't been here in probably 10-12 months. And may I say WOW!! It was incredible!!!! So much so we had to call and tell them!!! Had a wonderful lunch at Roopa's today, enjoying CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA and CHICKEN CURRY, with amazing lemon rice, and Indian bread, and a refreshing side of cucumber salad. Tried a glass of INDIAN MANGO LASSI, soo good, a refreshing yoghurt drink. Dessert was GULAB JAMUN...sweet but not fatty doughnut ball in Safran syrup ... super delicious! We got the onion pakora as an appetizer. We ordered paneer tikka masala, butter chicken, masala dosa, and a couple of sides of lemon rice and naan, and shared it around the table. The masala dosa was as big as my arm, and delicious. The butter chicken was mine, and I almost didn't want to share it. The paneer tikka masala was great, too. The server asks the level of spicy you want when you place your order. I like my food a little hot, so got the butter chicken medium. Everyone else went with mild. We just got iced teas to drink, but our glasses were never empty. The servers were all nice, prompt, and patient when we had questions. For dessert we split a slice of the cardamom pistachio cheesecake. My only regret was that I was so full from the meal, I could only handle a couple of bites.
