I had Metropolitan do my house roof a year ago and thought they did such a great job, I decided to have them add a metal roof to my outbuilding/shop. My main reason for the metal was due to fallen needles and branches not easily sliding off the asphalt shingles. I was not disappointed in this companies' performance. They came in a little less expensive than other quotes, which pleased me. They removed the old asphalt shingles, cleaned up at end of every day, and was on the job from start to finish. Communication was very good from front office to the workers. Metropolitan utilizes a customer portal which explains scheduling and cost status during the job. I was very impressed with this type of communication. There was also plenty of phone calls and e-mails to maintain timely project status of issues and questions. We hired Seattle Skylights / Roof Boss / Metropolitan Construction because they were listed as Velux Certified Skylight Specialists. For structural skylight cut-ins, we expected specialists who understood permits, engineering, and code compliance. This was our worst contractor experience. A job represented as 10 to 12 working days dragged from August 2025 to April 2026. It only reached completion after months of us catching problems, demanding permits and engineering documentation, stopping premature drywall scheduling, disputing improper charges, and chasing close-out documents. They performed structural work before we were provided permits or engineer-stamped documentation. Their contract said the work would be done to code. Cutting manufactured trusses for skylights requires engineering, permits, and inspection. When we raised the lack of permits over the phone, we were told we had not specifically asked for permits, and that the salesperson should not have included "to code" language in the contract. That was shocking from a company selling itself as a skylight specialist. After the original install, we inspected the attic ourselves and found cut truss members that appeared to be hanging or not properly attached, no visible hangers, large gaps, odd scrap-like framing, and no clear reinforcement. We had to demand permit paperwork, an inspection path, and engineer documentation that should have existed before work began. The insulation was wrong initially. The contract referenced R-40 insulation, but they first installed rough R-13 insulation that looked temporary and poorly fitted. We only got that corrected after pushing back. Even after engineer-stamped details were produced, their crew came back and still did not follow them. We found wrong hardware, missing vertical members, inconsistent fastening, hardware attached on only one face in some locations, and fasteners that did not match the engineered requirements. We warned months earlier that the screws were wrong and would not pass inspection. They denied there was a problem, then later had to send an installer back after inspection required correction. They tried to schedule drywall before structural and permit issues were resolved. We had to stop that from happening. They framed the permit delay as "King County takes time," but the inspector told us this timeline was not normal and only took this long because the contractor had not followed code and had to get the permit after the fact. Communication was terrible. Once issues started, the owner became verbally aggressive with my spouse on the phone, so we required communication in writing. Even then, they often did not respond until we escalated. Later he told us that if we had timeline concerns, we should "contact the county and threaten them." The office and field crews seemed disconnected. Installers did not understand the insulation requirements, structural work did not match the engineer's details, and later the drywall crew showed up without understanding the full scope. Jobsite management was awful. After one installer was injured, they left Ram Board with blood on it inside our home and did not notify us. We asked them to clean it up and they refused, so we removed it ourselves because we have pets. Later, their crew was visibly annoyed. They also tried to rely on thin painter's tarp where we had asked for proper floor protection. They left a Honey Bucket in our yard for months and appeared to forget about it until we reminded them near final payment. Their final invoice included charges for things they did not do, including interior scaffolding even though no scaffolding was used. Even after closing out the balance, they never responded to requests for the lien waiver/release discussed at the beginning and referenced in the contract. Completion does not redeem the experience. I would never hire this company again or recommend them for skylight cut-ins. A certified skylight specialist should not require months of homeowner pressure to complete a code-compliant job. read more

Got 3 bids, chose these guys even though not lowest. Halfway through job the estimator whines to me that he "miscalculated roof size from the satellite pictures," should actually cost more. I said that's a shame for you. Couple days later he claims that roofing truck being used onsite got fined by city after one of my neighbor's complained, even pointing out the neighbor. Contractual cost to me is $599 extra. Lies lies lies. This is a sleazy POS operation, stay away. read more

Sprung a leak and reach out to Metropolitan. Scheduled an appt. Chris came out. He was nice. Friendly and very informing. Chris stated his laptop was dead, and we scheduled a follow-up for him to bring me an estimate, and we would go over it 9:30am that Friday. We even confirmed via text. Friday at 10, there was still no sign of Chris. Reached out via text with no response. Called his cell phone list on his card and left a message. Waited a bit more, but there was no response, so I then called Metropolitan Roofing Office. I realize life happens and things come up, and honestly, I was hoping he was just ok at this point. There was no answer at the office, so I left a message. Fast forward 2 weeks later. Still no returned calls from Chris or his office. Hope he is ok. Either way, I guess it's time to move on. I highly recommend Metropolitan! First, they were the most economical of the roofing companies that I interviewed. I was impressed with how they kept the work site clean and clear. I had asked for some extra things to be done such as repairing a weak spot on the porch roof and installing a solar tube that a previous contractor had left unfinished. They even fixed a couple of other minor problems that I didn't even know about. I was a little hesitant to open the final bill given all the extra work they did. It was actually less than I had expected as it was determined that I did not need as much venting work done as anticipated. I could not be happier. They were very responsive to the request for a quote, but wanted to do a property phone survey. They wanted be to answer all the questions they could have gotten through a site walk through, but were unwilling to send somebody out. I guess they wanted to see if the job was worth coming out. they called this AM and were aggressively demanding info about the property and did not appreciate my second and third request for a site visit. The service manager called back to resurvey and again was rude and unhelpful and said "I don't have time for you either" after telling them for the 3rd. time that I was busy right now and had a lot of things going on. Metropolitan gave a very competitive bid to do my roof in metal. I contacted all the references they provided and all came back with glowing reviews. They did an awesome job on the roof and the workers were very efficient. They were polite and friendly doing the work. They arrived promptly at 8am each day. They seemed to work as a team and knew what they were doing. The bathroom skylight replacement was a main reason for doing the roof. Though measurements were made and discussions about the install followed, the new skylight was not the same size as the original - it was much larger. After the roof install a carpenter followed and finally a drywall specialist finished the interior. All I had to do was paint. My experience with them was excellent. It was a good value, on time and professional. They were very straightforward. The estimate provided to me by Jasmine and Craig had a comprehensive breakdown of materials and their cost as well as labor. The price was one of the best I had seen without compromise, having engaged 4 other companies for estimates. Their pitch seemed both comprehensive and fair to me compared to others. Our roof is a combined 3000sqft 10/12 pitch with three shed style dormers and a detached garage. We also replaced 1 skylight and expanded another to 4x4 size. The flashings were all custom made at their facility by the same crew installing the roof. The job was completed in two weeks and all done without subcontracting. They did send a different team for the interior skylight opening enlargement. When an issue came up with the roof, it was promptly addressed. In the end, they went above and beyond to resolve the issue. I called a month later to get touch-up paint and they still remember me and Craig hand delivered the paint completely free of charge. read more

We are 100% happy with the job that Metro roofing did on our outbuilding/ garage. Their cost was lower than two other bids, with a larger scope of work (Metro also did gutters and added vents, AND fixed some slipping shingles on our main house at no extra charge). Their cost was a little higher than the "one guy with a truck" from the neighborhood, and that guy wanted me to use my truck to get plywood... we went with the pros and are happy about that. Metro's crew was fantastic... Jose, Mauricio and all did the job in a day, communicated well and thoroughly, problem-solved a couple things mid-job (at no extra cost), and cleaned up everything to the last bit. I think they stayed late to avoid coming back too. Once the roof was on, Mike came and did the gutters, integrating our rain barrel and making everything work well, which we know because it rained today. The quality of the work will tell over time, but at first inspection everything looks great. The roofers cleared FOUR layers of old roof (the estimate said two, but we didn't get charged extra) and probably added another 10 years easy to the whole garage (the roof will outlast the rest of the structure). New fascia and gutters make the thing look really nice. Once we paint it next week, it'll be a major upgrade to our property. Administrative staff were also excellent... we'd contract with Sound Metro Roofing again. read more

We contracted with Metropolitan Roofing to replace the roof and gutters on our home. We got three different bids so we could make an informed decision. Metropolitan was the least expensive by a very significant amount. We worked with Doug Westhoff to ensure that even though this company was less expensive the work that the other two companies had planned to do was included in the Metropolitan bid. The 3 man crew arrived on the per-arranged date once the rain delays were past, our roof was replaced late February, early March. We worked with Sergio the project manager and Celio, the onsite manager and lead on site worker. Our roof is very steep and quite large, because of a large covered patio. The entire project took the 3 men 9 days to complete as they worked a minimum of 8 hours a day. They were really hard working taking few breaks other than their lunch. The roof had quite a bit of damage from a rather poor first roof and gutter install. 21 sheets of roof decking needed to be replaced due to water damage or moisture due to poor ventilation. Our roof was only 20 years old but it didn't wear very well. We can't say enough good things about this crew and all of the people we worked with at Metropolitan Roof. Each day the crew did a clean up putting work equipment away and cleaning up all the debris from the day's work. The finally day of roofing the gutter crew arrived and completed the install of new gutters. They worked with us on the color and any special areas that might need more attention. This 3 man crews also was extremely hard working and did a fantastic job. We know that everyone's experience with a company can vary for many reasons; the employees, delays, product, and specifics for the job. Our experience with Metropolitan was nothing but outstanding! I can't promise your experience will be the same exceptional one we had, but I would bet the odds are pretty good. read more

They were easy to work with, understood immediately what I wanted and didn't push me to go bigger! I used this company because they were the "Low ball" The roof leaks around the chimney and the gutters were improperly installed and pour directly under the front door and along the full length of the front and back of the house!! I recommended them to friends (prior to the rainy season) (They refused to give me my $50.00 Referral) and lost them as friends.They were contacted by myself when the rain began and never responded. The gutters are "Obviously" screwed over top of the flashing (At a steep angle) and was inspected/OKed by the contractor. Don't use them, I never will again. read more

Ok this company really suck. I had requested a quote on my roof ,they send this guy named Clint, this guy comes in introduce himself as the boss of the company! I thought it was strange that the company boss goes around for quote request and not send his employees? Anyway this so called boss checks my roof and gives me the quote and options for a skylight with its various design and I asked him if his company offers payments, like 12 months now interest ,like home depot and bestbuy? He didn't really know!!! It was odd that he don't know if his company offers such programs and that he had to call to find out,and they do offer ,I still said ok if he could email me the details and the options and the break down on what the cost would be. He said ok he will do that the next day, we'll he never send me the email, I called down to the office and inquired about this Clint, that he was supposed to send me an email about the roof repair.the lady said that she would remind him ,and went on to say that he was probably busy with other things !!! I thought I was a customer too. He calls me couple days later and said that he would bring me the details, I said ok will be expecting you, but this guy never shows up! We had a broken skylight and we schedule an appointment to have it repaired on September 27 and they promised us a call the day before to confirm a time. They never called but when we did we were told that they'd have to reschedule it for the following week (October 4). They confirmed that a repair person would arrive between 8:00 and 8:30 am. At 8:15 the repair person left a voice mail saying he'd arrive at 9:30 with no message to return his call. By 9:45 when he hadn't arrived I called him and he said that he decided to go to another job and admitted that it was his fault for not coming to ours. He said he'd arrive at our place 4 hours later. I called the office and they confirmed that he'd arrive. By 3:00 (more than 5 hours later) I called him and he said that he wouldn't be able to make it. On calling the office it turns out that they close at 1:00 on Saturdays so all they answering service could do was pass along a message. This is about the worst service I've ever received from any company. read more
